Cozy rooftop bar with view on the neighbors rabbits. Concierge is very very jolly warm man, rooms adequate but cheap. Would recommend! (Photo is the rabbits, not the hotel)

Good value for money. Easy check in, nice staff and a down-home breakfast. There are no plug sockets and wifi in the room (we stayed at room 12), but therefore they are on the rooftop. Its in the middle of the city, so a nice location to start to explore Stone Town, but also very loud at night.

What a gem! Amazing and kind local staff (they knocked on my door to make sure I didn’t miss breakfast, knew exactly when I was leaving, gave me directions everywhere, etc. etc.). Rooms are small but comfortable. Rooftop terrace is lovely. The other guests were also great and were primarily travelers doing research or working in the area - way more fun than staying with high-end tourists. I would absolutely come back here.

Excellent. I thoroughly recommend Kiponda to Stone Town and Zanzibar visitors. It is very well run and staff are very pleasant. Great location near Furugani for evening tasty snacks and meals and just within the edges of the beautiful old Arab/Swahili buildings (as it is also) of Stonetown. Breakfast is on the roof level which has a nice breeze. This place is definitely a big favorite of mine

Nice little B&B in the old city, close to the sea. Breakfast (fruits, toasted bread, eggs of your choice, muesli) is served on the rooftop terrace, which guest can use the whole day to hang out. In the evening, some drinks are sold there (but it does not really qualify as a bar). Staff is friendly. Rooms and facilities are clean.

Stayed here for one night before going to the airport. We chose to pick something a little cheaper and the Kiponda B&B reflects the price. Rooms are okey but I would not stay for longer time. Staff was terrific and that is what gives it a higher grade.

For two nights at the end of November, room 18 at the lovely Kiponda B&B was our base for exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Site Stone Town. Leading up to our visit we were in contact with Salma over both email and WhatsApp which was very helpful. We arrived after dark coming directly from the airport and were greeted by a big smile belonging to Jimmy. He guided us through the labyrinth of red stairs to our room on the second floor. The big beautiful bed with drapes of mosquito net was the centrepiece of the room. Thanks to both a ceiling fan and an air conditioner the evening humidity stayed outside our room. Sitting on the colourful bench right outside of our door on our little private veranda we spent time reading and trying to pick out words in Swahili taking in the wonderful smell of equatorial weather. In the mornings we had a lovely terrace breakfast accompanied by small birds eating leftover crumbles. Kiponda B&B was great for us and a perfect base for walking around in the maze of small narrow streets that is Stone Town, the old part of the city is not that big. Thank you for your great hospitality Kiponda B&B Team!

The rooms are lovely & the breakfast delicious, especially the avocado passion juice! Selma is a great manager and Jimmy is one of the kindest human beings you will ever come across, he made my stay there. The breakfast staff could be a little more attentive and smiley, otherwise I recommend this hotel very highly. I am an insomniac and I found Kiponda to be one of the quietest places in town. Would 100% stay here again. Thanks for everything.

I was truly impressed with Kiponda, I read about them in a magazine and communicated with them via email, booking was easily, the arranged a cab to pick us up from the airport and what we got when we arrived was way more than expected!! I thoroughly enjoyed the comforts of the rooftop and also where breakfast is served! Breakfasts are colourful and and amazing. The team at Kiponda are very knowledgeable about where to go, what to see etc. They are well connected and found them to be so helpful and trustworthy!! As a well travelled world traveler I would highly recommend Kiponda

Využili jsme tento hotel jen pár hodin před odletem domů. Potřebovali jsme přečkat dobu od opuštění lodi do odletu. Objednávali jsme mailem, vše bylo dojednáno rychle. Nabídli nám i odvoz z přístavu do hotelu. Personál byl velmi milý a ochotný, poradili, kam jít na jídlo. Není to žádný luxus, ale pokoj byl čistý, dostali jsme vodu, poseděli na střešní terase. Za 30 $ za pokoj to bylo skvělé.

The water pressure was disappointing. For a while, once during the day it was normal, the rest of the time there was almost no water. Other than that, its okay for the price. The place is convenient, all the sights and amenities are close by. Very atmospheric, AC, the fan worked, the adapter was kindly offered by Jimmy - the only business executive there, he is also the security. The manager made a discount. The door to the hotel is a museum piece. But it closes at night, you have to knock, wake up guard Jimmy.
