We had a great stay there for our honeymoon. They take care of all the details and the pool in front of the room is a big plus. Too bad they havent paved the road from the entrance to the main road because it is a real pain having to take that 15 minutes bumpy road each time you leave the hotel. I think it would be really worthy to invest on improving that road so they can give their customers a completely exceptional experience.

The hotel is really nice and the villas are lovely. There is also access to a house doctor, complementary. However, there were a few shortcomings compared to the expectation of a 5 star hotel. Although the food was often nicely presented, the taste did not always follow and the steak meat was often tough and dry. We also saw that the gardeners came completely unannounced into the private garden and started digging for a long time, which happened twice. We pointed out a couple of times that WIFI did not work so well in our villa - each time they said that IT would look at it without us seeing anyone, however, and without it getting better. So I would definitely recommend the hotel, even though I only give 4 stars - should they earn the last star, the quality of the food should be improved and the gardeners should not come blazing unannounced into a private garden.

Zanzibar it self is a paradise, but these guys made it seems more beautiful and yes expensive!From top management to chefs everything is neat and very satisfying, of cause is not an actual heaven (mistakes and errors do occur in their operations/services) but again these guys are the only one one who really take customer servicing to mext level.I went there to meat with my friend Raymond, who seems to made it his home. I was amazed to see the beautiful architecture in bushes, the beach is super cool and pleasant with a beautiful sunset ever! I mean the overall architecture and the natural events happening there energised my soul.

Location, Location Location. Wow. Simply amazing. Food is excellent, and the service is the very best. We learned the night B4 departing that our shuttle and flight to Arusha would arrive too late to make our big plane home. WE set off in a panic. Adam from reception, who was helpful throughout our trip, REALLY STEPPED UP BIG TIME. He arranged new shuttle departing in the morning and a new flight for us both, AND the next day he met us at the airport to give us the tickets personally. WOW! We will be customers for life. Thanks Adam and team for the best stay.

We are staying at a beautiful garden villa with a Nice pool.The monkeys that come visit you makes the experience just better. The staff cleanes the villa two times a day, and frequently asking if there are any needs. Absolutely love this place!! We have been coming here for a long time and it doesnt seem to lose its magic every time we come here. We stayed in the pool villa for a couple of nights. We really enjoyed it and loved staying right at the beach.The staff is nice and there is a different buffet every night which makes it really nice.

Lovely property, but not 5 star.Firstly, the grounds are beautiful and staff attentive. The villas themselves are enormous and furnished nicely. However, this is absolutely not a 5 star hotel, mainly due to the dining experience and beach. The dining has the feel of a tacky cruise ship. Breakfast and dinner are buffet-style only. Understandable for breakfast, but a buffet style dinner every evening in a 5 star hotel is unacceptable. The selections are quite limited, though most of the food is good, particularly for this style of resort in Zanzibar. No table service whatsoever besides beverages, with an insulting additional charge for water despite providing complimentary bottles in the rooms. The live music performed each night was not in keeping with an elegant dining experience to say the least. The hotel is very far from everything else including restaurants and most people do not rent a car while here (we did thankfully), so there are no other meal options. The beach is mediocre at its best (early afternoon) and swamplike for the rest of the day due to tides, with locals collecting crayfish on the beach all morning. The beautiful white powderlike sand beaches are all on the opposite east coast or the north. This beach looks absolutely nothing like those. The price is astronomical given all of this. Better off to stay in a private villa or beach bungalow for a fraction of the price. I hate to leave a negative review but I would have loved to know all of this beforehand so I could have stayed on the southeast coast! There were several honeymooners here and I would be devastated if this had been my honeymoon experience. If you are familiar with a true five star hospitality experience, don’t look for it here.

The place is good but management fails due to choice of HR, they wanted to find the personel from the village to solve many problems caused by staff and government. From the villages there are three people who have enough experience of HR position to cover the hr job gap, but daily company surfer to get right person.

Five-star hotel located in the southern part of the island, where, like almost all hotels, the sea and the water of the beach depend on the sea currents. At Christmas, the tide is very low and the water does not rise until at least 11.30, and then it goes back down around 5.30-6 in the afternoon. So when the tide is high, the beach is good, with fine sand and turquoise water. But when it is not, there is no beach whatsoever.It is perfect for families. The rooms are very spacious and very comfortable. With an outdoor pool for each villa. Comfortable bed with mosquito net, big bathroom with nice bathtub, and two showers-one inside and another outside. At the door there are bicycles to move around the spacious resort, but at any time you can call reception so that someone can come and pick you up by golf cart and take you to the restaurant or reception.Breakfast is not bad. Dinner, always served as a buffet, leaves much to be desired. A lot.The service is excellent, always friendly and very willing to help in everything they can.

My husband and I took time away from lifes busy schedule to recuperate and spend some much needed TLC. This was the perfect spot! The entire place just oozes of romance. Private villa with private pool and impeccable attention to detail. You can take long walks on the beach or swim in the amazing see through pool they have....enjoy drinks by the bar or simply laze around your private pool and relax. The staff were all amazing. Good food and great service.We are definitely making this our getaway destination.

Wowwwwwww! Wasnt quite sure what to expect and they OVER delivered! After a grueling safari journey on the mainland we thought maybe we were in for another safari accessing the resort in the middle of the night because of how remote it is.But tucked in away in this disparate part of the island is a slice of paradise. From the moment we arrived relief set in with the warm reception from staff. We were fortunate enough to be received by Adam and to say he took care of us for our nearly weeklong stay would be an understatement! A consummate professional, he thought of things before we did and ensured a seamless, tranquil, holiday.The Residence is for those looking for a TRUE getaway. Its a one stop shop for rest, relaxation, and a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city. The beach is stunning, exposing miles of coastline during low tide, theres virtually nobody selling anything and you can enjoy the views in peace.The food is exemplary and Mimo, the Head Chef and his staff make you feel as if youre visiting family. The attention to detail, a the savory flavors, and fresh seafood, will have you checking the scale in your villa because its impossible how to over indulge. Anyway I digress, dont miss a holiday at the Residence, youll wish you were a permanent resident!

Please please please do not waste your money to stay in this hotel. The road from main road to the residence zanzibar hotel was awful, the rooms are spacious but everything is over age there , furnitures , bathtub, robes(my robe was torn) sun loungers , doors , tables,…We ordered floating breakfast , and when we went to have our breakfast we saw more than 10 cockroaches running around our breakfast, in the plaets , cups , under plate mates. I took many photos and videos of them to show the manager And they said the baskets were at storeroom for long time , it ruined our drems from floating basket and I couldn’t eat anything for hours . I have another bad experience, when we were at airport to departure I understand that i miss my ring in the safty box, i called hotel and asked them to check the saftty box but they said we didn’t find anything i am sure it was there , my husband took the passports and he saw it there but he thought i will take it myself and I thought he took it when he took the passports, 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️after i came back I wrote my comments about this hotel on tripadvisor and booking.com(i am a genius level 2 member ) , then someone from hotel callI me and ask me about that ,he asked me if i can remove my comments because this ruins their reputation, but i said this is the travelers rights to know about this hotel because they are spending a lot of money .then they bought a ring similar to my ring to send it for me , you know we stayed in this hotel on May 2021 and till now i did not receive it, last week they said it’s already long time that your comments are there and maybe no need to send your ring , i was shocked , this is not what i expected from a five star hotel.Believe me comparing to the money you spend you can find many hotels better than this in zanzibar.

An excellent resort in Zanzibar. We could have easily stayed here for a couple if more days.While the resort is located in a very remote area, and specifically not in one of the good beach areas, it does provide all the facilities, that there is little reason to go elsewhere.The endless pool is truly amazing, the food is really good, and the rooms are huge, with their free-standing bath, private pool and view to the beach.There are free water bottles aplenty in the room, which is important, as they are needed also to brush your teeth. At dinner on the other hand, they charged $7 for every bottle of water...One thing that didnt work very well was housekeeping: for some reason, we had to contact the front desk and ask for them, as they did not arrive in their own, neither in the morning nor in the evening.

The Hotel is definitely not 5 star. Also very surprised with the amount of Instagramers they had at the hotel. Very friendly staff but not organized at all and very slow service. The food is not good and has gone bad perhaps due to it being low season. The beach is not like in the north of the island and full of plastic and algue. Rooms are decent but for the price we payed per night the details were not to standard.

I just want to say, this hotel is worth every penny. It might not be as cheap as the hotels in the north but for the luxury and the hospitality, it’s totally worth it. I’m so glad we left the trashy riu hotel in the north and stayed here. It was truly a paradise. Wilfred from front desk took really good care of us . We had booked kuza caves nearby and Wilfred went out of the way to get us water shoes so we don’t hurt our feet. The food at the restaurant was different everyday and they had atleast 2 live cooking stations cooking up fresh food. The inroom dining was on point. They had bicycles in every room so you are totally independent and that is such a good touch. My daughter had fallen off the bike. Marko from Hitel brought in a first aid kit immediately and bandaged her wound. Thank you for the amazing hospitality. More hotels in Zanzibar should learn your business model and adapt. The only thing I would say negative is the 5km bad road that leads upto the hotel. They really need to do something about that

We went To the Residence Hotel Zanzibar on november 2019 for our honney moon. It was a great place to stay and we spent a very good time in the hotel. The service was indeed a very good one, all very clean and private room swimming pool amazing !I strongly recommend this hotel.

The Residence is a great resort, we appreciated the private huge villa with a private pool. All was great. The gardens are beautiful and we really appreciated the monkeys there, which come to visit you almost every day. Be careful about leaving your stuff at the terrace ase. :) This was lovely thou! I only give 4 stars instead of 5 because of the food. The food quality was really not good and does not meet expectations in a 5* hotel. I would recommend providing a la carte offer instead of the buffet. I would also recommend changing the headchef. The buffet food (even thou it has different names every night - Mediterranean, Indian, African etc) is every night the same.

My main complaint is: value for money. Let me explain:If you just want to do sweet nothing in a privat pool for 4 days and its worth around 1000 EUR (for 4 nights per person) for you, by all means, go for it - i cant deny the beauty of the place. But if you are like me, and you would rather spend that money on experiences (like a safari for example), this palace is not for you.The rooms looked very nice (although they could have been cleaner) and i really appreciated the privat pools every villa had and the bikes.Our AC was broken in the bedroom and we had NO warm water.The service just cant be rated as 5 stars - they often forgot about our request, and everything needed to be asked at least twice. The staff was very friendly and nice, but there was a lack of organisation and everyone had the pole-pole attitude.One quick example: They left a daily program every morning in our room stating, that at 15:30 there is complementary ice cream t the pool area. We went there on our first day, there was nothing. Second day, still nothing. On our third day we asked. They said, yes, there will be something. We waited around the pool for 30 minutes and asked again. They said, someone will come. And they did bring out one portion at about 30 minutes after that, even thought we were two people waiting. When i asked, if i can have one too, they looked confused. ... why do you even bother printing it out then? every day?!The food in general is very average.As the ocean disappears (low-tide) during the day in Zanzibar, the small remote bay the hotel sits in can be kind of boring, so location-wise this is something to keep in mind.But as i stated in the beginning, my main issue was the price. It is very expensive for what it offers. The all inclusive is just a ripoff (it would have been 450 EUR for 4 nights per person), and the menu on what you were allowed to consume was very restricted (so no strong alcohol, a very very short selection of wine and so on). A main course at lunch was about 15-30 USD.(disclaimer: we were traveling with a bigger group of family and friends, who chose this place)

Bare in mind this was a treat for me and wife for Easter. Our Easter holidays were ruined and our moneys were taken.Staff that were really unhelpful at the hotel:masemoSandraMohamedFrank (he was at the reception deskI arrived at the hotel roughly around 11.20am. Staff were not welcoming and very dismissive. I was told to wait for my room to be ready. While waiting for over an hour, I saw another guest getting a welcome drink which showed they didn’t care or may have forgotten about us.I was taken to my room at 1pm, the room was completely different to the one allocated on booking.com. It was a room with trees hiding the sun, different picture to what booking.com shows.I did request a change however management said they were fully booked.The bed was broken, when checked in it was not fixed and had to tell the manager to fix it.For the inconvenience, the management offered the all inclusive package and a free massage which was really kind of them. However this was not a resolution.We arrived at the lunch area for some lunch and I ordered some Nacious Salad with grilled chicken. The salad smelled off and so did the chicken.At that point, we went straight to reception requesting to leave and asking for a refund. The manager did not see us for 30 mins, when he did, he advised us that we are unable to get a refund, that is not their policy.We really felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave but we also wanted to get our money so we can go somewhere else. The resort is definitely not a 5star resort, and feel really unsatisfied with the service. We would request you to investigate this matter so we can receive our refund or partial refund.We paid a lot for the hotel and did not get the service that we were expecting.The bed was brokenThe food was offThe pool view is completely different to what pictures show on booking.comService was abysmal as we had to wait round for large amounts of time.

Extremly nice place a little bit abroad from the usual tourist hotspots. Nice villas with own pool in a big, well groomed garden. The staff is very friendly and responsive, the food is good. The ideal place for us to relax after a week on safari. Recomendable.

Great place to stay during your visit in Kizimkazi. Definitely not bad for Africa. Beach has low and high tide, not like in Nungwi or Kendwa but definitely our choice there.

What an incredible experience! Rooms, facilities, the pool, the beach, the food - everything was exceptional. The very best part is the staff, who are without exception unbelievable. Nothing is too much trouble. Everything you might want available with ease. Waiting staff take the time to get to know you and share a chat. Cheerful hellos and big smiles from everyone you meet, from gardeners to security to housekeeping. A luxurious and joy-filled stay I would highly recommend.

Great stay - highly recommend, we spend 2 weeks in there, resort meet highest standards and is a real 5 star. Staff was friendly, everyone from general manager ( hey Bruce) to the waiters, place is clean and very well maintained and organized.

Top class service, stayed full board, rooms beautiful, scenery amazing. Just smiling workers to top it all off. They may not have everything in the world, however always smiling. It really taught me to smile as well. This really bought the essence of the tanzanian people to the fore.

After a bad start to our trip to Zanzibar, The Residence helped us pull back a relaxing holiday!The resort, staff, food and extra amenities were essential to our relaxing holiday. The buffet menus were different every night, the main swimming pool was wonderful in the midday sun and our private pools were amazing for cooling off in the evenings.The highlight of our stay here was certainly the staff. Always so friendly, helpful and excellent English skills made for a misunderstanding free trip and even some friends along the way.We will certainly be back next time we come to Zanzibar.

This place is truly an incredible place away from the hustle and bustle on Zanzibar. From the welcome juice to the service at the villa and the incredibly attentive service during breakfast and dinner - the hotel staff couldnt have been better. There was security across the compound which meant no outside touts were allowed in. As others have said the beach is useless during low tide but high tide means lots of opportunity to float in the water and use the water equipment free of charge (catamarans, kayaks, paddle boats). To counter the lack of beach the pools are clean and incredible - either float in your private villa pool or in the large common pool. The meals, themes, and locations change daily - there is generally a buffet and sometimes a menu with choices. We were on half board so didnt need to dine out, not many options around for those looking to do so. Note that this resort is not in a popular place and therefore getting to and from activities can take some time. If you are interested in diving Id suggest reaching out to Dive Time who operate in the region or checking with the local team. I was also told to avoid the dolphin tour because of concerns for dolphin welfare so please consider that before you book. Finally, beware of monkeys trying to steal your banana 🍌!!

Nice place the kids enjoyed a lot, the service at the restaurant is great with friendly staff but the front desk, reservation management and villa service wasn’t nice not value for many. I had to pay twice for my booking and felt not welcomed

The beach was nice but the sea was usually out due to the tide. Boat tour touts roam the beach area. Nice to see the locals in the shallows catching crabs and such. The pier had a nice hut at the end where you could book a sunset drink for two. Overall the beach was well maintained and had 24 hour security.

Truly magnificent ! We stayed three nights with our two princesses aged 3 and 5 and this holiday gave us much more than we expected. Right from the welcome to the our ocean facing villas, to the pool and beach to restaurants, everything was exceptional with first class hospitality service . The kids club was simply the best with so much kids activities and must mention REHEMA & SOPHIA, who were full of charisma to keep the kids entertained though out such that our gals never wanted to be back to the villa and made us promise them that we shall go back again for our next holiday.Must congratulate the entire management team for always being on their toes to ensure the facility is well maintained and guests are well taken care of. All staff are a true asset to this property..keep it up!A must visit when in Tanzania! highly recommend this beautiful resort to each holiday maker.The best i loved was the swimming pool..woh was a beautiful massive pool overlooking such a beautiful scenery, a place just to relax and rejuvenate oneself! The best five star hotel in Zanzibar!Ive tried the melia and zuri and nothing comes close. The staff here are so well trained and really cater to your every need. The rooms are massive the private pools is a lovely added bonus

There are so much things that you will only know if you organise a trip with local peoples you can only find them to beach and they will come to you some of employees oganise the same but they do not go with you they will send you to the local peoples so its better if you go directly to the beach
