Huge and expensive facility. The rooms are perfect, beds good. Beach just in front.Small details missing, that it doesnt make it a four star hotel for me. The rooms have no fridge nor iron. Internet for the rooms is charged extra per day, which is so old fashion. Why do not include it in the price or raise it? The security takes the job a little bit to seriously, other 4star hotels have been cooler. Staff could be trained better. Some sunlounger are directly at the sports field. If you lying there you always get hit with the ball and the players always shout sorry, sorry. It is quiet annoying. There would be space to separate it better.It is not bad, but also not good enough for the price paid.

The amenities are very nice our room was cleaned but the drainer was not working perfectly. The staffs are friendly as well. There are a lot of varieties in relation of food but I wouldnt say they are very high quality, pastries and cakes were always dried. Cocktails are made very poorly, and you can tell staffs dont care about it. The beach is stunning and location os great. But I wouldnt go back there.

It’s a beautiful resort, well maintained and especially the staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good. During our stay around 75% of the other guest were all-inclusive guests from Eastern Europe. A lot of them start drinking before lunch and can be quite present.

This was my first time visiting Zanzibar and I am so glad that we chose the Sandies Baobab resort. The location is wonderful with arguably the best beach and location. The actual resort is beautiful and well maintained - with a feel of being immersed in the nature of the island itself. The rooms were clean, simple yet comfortable. My only request would be to add additional duvets and blankets for extra comfort otherwise everything was great. The food was also excellent - with great variety and flavour and the location of the restaurant by the water was amazing! Finally and most importantly , the staff were wonderful ! They were so friendly, helpful and hardworking and made our stay so pleasant. Big thanks to all the staff , groundsmen , cleaners, chefs, porters and management - a really hardworking team. We cannot wait to be back !

Absolutely fabulous! Really enjoyed the hospitality, we were there for 2 nights. Gorgeous beach and lovely pool... The family room is perfect for families with children. The highlight was the two showers in the bathroom: Extremely convenient when showering the children! The staff are well trained and very guest centric. Enjoyed various shows in the evening. Highly recommend this hotel.

We felt like home. The staff was always kind and helpful, always welcoming us with a smile. Some things in the room were a bit ruined (like the protection for mosquitos around the bed) but the bed and pillow were super comfortable so we didn’t really care. Big thanks also to Yusufu, who was always funny and kind. We loved every second!

This was my 4th Hotel in 2 weeks in Tanzania and my 3rd in Zanzibar. It far exceeded all the others. Hats off to the Owner, Manager and entire Hotel Team! Very polite and attentive staff. Loved everything about Sandies. Food, atmosphere, drinks, beach, pool and the streets outside of the resort. Wonderful staff. Beautiful place. The room was nice and clean. No TV. Id go back again and again. Happy hour at 6pm. Free drinks. Breakfast, lunch and Dinner are included in the price. Little to no hustlers on the beach.

We chose this hotel for a honeymoon and it was a great decision.Great food and nice bungalows together with Nungwi beach is an amazing combo.Kendwa beach is 40 mins beachfront walking and I really recommend it.If you are on a honeymoon hotel will arrange for you an amazing dinner on a beach just for two of you.Every evening you will enjoy breathtaking sunset.

The resort was beautiful, the food at the kitchen is super delicious we almost overate every time we had a meal there!They have activities everyday, ranging from sports in the day time to entertainment at night. So you don’t have to leave the resort some days!If you ever want to go somewhere else, you can just take a walk by the beach and there are tons of places to sit at and have DELICIOUS fruits or have a drink either in the morning or at night.

Good service and very nice and friendly staff.The room we had (superior) is good but one thing is that it’s too much opened to outside, it’s either you open the curtains and everybody can see you inside or you close them and there is no natural light.Breakfast has lot of choices and is good quality.As we could see the beach it has is the best of nungwi, clean and beautiful.We had 5 beautiful nights.

It was really a nice place. We celebrated our 10 year anniversary there. The whole team was wonderful and I cant express that enough. They also suprised my wife with a beautiful happy birthday cake. The place was warm and welcoming and genuine. I thank the whole team from Management to the security.

Great place, very friendly and helpful staff (Kassim and his crew at the main bar rules, all people at restaurant are always ready to help, hotel reception just the same). Rooms are good enough for pleasant stay because majority of your time youll be at the beach or sunbeds. Important note for Itaka clients (valid for 2021-Aug) - by default youll get rooms in Polish village close to main gates short walk from garden and beach rooms shown on hotels and Itaka pictures. The beach is one of the most beautiful and accessible in the area (tides), hotel location is great for short and long walks, close to the hotel youve market, 2 villages, lighthouse, turtles.

Dear management, it was nice holidays. The hotel resort is fine but we had room next to washing room and it was very noise all the time. It is good to know that you are washing towels and other stuff but not in the night.But on the other hand the staff were excellent and very kind. We really enjoyed your Spa a lot and Lily was great 👍 I am recommending her.The food was average. We had dinner in next hotel and the food was much better there.so maybe I can say i would give you 4 stars after some time of my return. But i can say that I could come to your place again it was not such bad.

Sandies is a great hotel in a great location. The food is consistently good, the included drinks are all better than expected (especially the evening cocktails), and the rooms are well-appointed. The spa was a special treat (and extremely well-priced), but the real star of the resort is the beach location.The covered lounge chairs look out at the Indian Ocean completely unobstructed, and I simply cant imagine a better place to sit, read, and sip a drink all day long. Especially after a very busy safari itinerary, this is the perfect place to relax and recuperate.The only real issue we had is that the rooms only had the European plugs whereas the mainland of Tanzania had Type G and Type D outlets, so we couldnt power our devices. The front desk didnt have any extra adapters, so we had to track one down in a local store. The different adapters arent referenced anywhere, so I recommend you travel with a universal adapter if at all possible to be on the safe side!

The all inclusive concept is not that all inclusive, alcoholic cocktail are limited and served only after 6pm also they dont taste good, they are served on plastic cups. The beach is wonderful and the gardens are nice.

One of the worst hotels in Zanzibar. Rooms are so basic and small, no comfort at all. The basins are between the room and the bathroom, which is totally uncomfortable and noisy when someones using them, while youre sleeping. The hotel facilities are badly maintained, the walkways made of sand and gravel are simply awkward and looks like a guest house, instead of a 4*. They say its to keep the resort green. It is not. Food is repetitive, a single menu for allinclusive basis made of 3/4 starters, 3/4 main courses and little more. So if you stay long time, prepare to have always the same food. The public beach is the only thing that is worth, but its public so you can stay somewhere else, and enjoy the Royal Beach.Dont waste your money here. Its not a good place for holidays.

As always, I will be honest yet fair in my review. Admittedly, I was somewhat apprehensive while my shuttle approached the resort since I prematurely judged it to be in ill comparison to resorts I tend to favour. I therefor caution future guests not to judge the book by its cover, for the somewhat apparent delapidation of the structures are by no means an indication of the effort, hospitality and attention to every patrons comfort the staff exerts.My intitial concern was soothed the moment that Chris, the resort manager, and his hostess received and welcomed me. A kindly porter carried my luggage to a superbly prepared garden suite which was decorated in welcoming with fresh local flowers and air-conditioning for my arrival (a trivial yet most appreciated luxury amid the suffocating heat on the island!).The daily buffet was varied, well planned and catered to every dietary requirement and preference: International cuisine featured abound amid the local dishes, and South African wines, albeit commercial and not to the taste of the connoisseur, were easy drinking and sufficiently palatable.The resort is well located with direct access to the beautiful Nungwi beach, within walking distance to beach bars, restaurants, saling excursion vendors, dive clubs, a taxi rank, local markets and a 20 minute walk to various ATMs.I am compelled to mention the excellent entertainment offered every night at the resort. I had nary an inclination to seek night time entertainment elsewhere, since the resort provided sufficiently without exception. In addition, the resort barmen prepared sublime cocktails to compliment the evenings events.A sincere and special mention to Kabuga, the most gentle and tender soul I came across during my week long visit, who catered to my every bar refreshment need while residing at Sandies Baobab: Kabuga, Zanzibar would be well blessed with more barmen, gentlemen and guest company such as yourself. Thank you for making my stay all the more pleasant!

My tired soul was seeking some much needed holiday. Me and the group of my 5 girlfriends decided on stay In Sandies Baobab because of previously read reviews and also because it was offering an all inclusive deal. We jumped into the unknown to be met with marvelous staff waiting for us with refreshing beverage, followed by a little tour , smartly calculated as the views from the bar , over the pool into a little beach and the beautiful hut for dinining took our breath away.The rooms were always changed to perfection water was even a friendly lizard we named Bob that would come say hi sometimes , much to despair of my girl friends . I won’t lie the cocktails the bartenders the staff the food the music and night entertainment made this stay one to never forget. If you are coming to Zanzibar and not stumble upon Sandies Baobab you are missing out .

Probably it is the best hotel on the island for relevant/ appropriate cost. Who is saying some thing bad he or she just had not stayed at others hotels of Zanzibar. Absolutely unique territory with baobab, the best beach, friendly staff, good food, drinks and everyday fresh bedings.

I would highly recommend this resort to anyone.Positives: Really friendly staff (All were friendly, but we got along very well with Kabuga and Mildred!). The beach is amazing - very nice location, the food was very good with a large variety - some things do stay the same on the menu (especially breakfast), but the variety is so big, you can choose different foods each day. The chef is also so friendly and goes out of his way to accommodate you! The rooms were very clean. My husband got sick on one of the days, and when I asked to get help, with getting medication, the manager was there in 5 minutes - which was very much appreciated! There were nice shows and activities at the bar on some of the nights like karaoke, and dances.Negatives: The rooms could have a fridge and kettle with coffee as a standard, not just in the deluxe rooms (Maybe I just found it odd, because all places in South Africa have it - it could not be a thing in Zanzibar?). The rooms could use a TV - especially for when youre there for long, or sick and cant leave the room. Just personal preference: the bathroom could use a door instead of just a curtain. It can get awkward. This is not 100% the resorts fault, but the beach chairs are always taken, even if no one is there. People just put their towels down to claim the chairs and stay away for the whole day. Maybe a rule should be brought in to say if no one is there, you cant claim the chairs?, or more beach chairs. Sometimes there is a communication gap, but I do see that the staff try very hard to hear what you are saying. Really no major problems though, the large majority of the resort was excellent!!Just tips for travelers: Do the safari blue, its an amazing experience! (Just make sure it is the real one, not the fake one) Pack in medication for anything (Sun stroke and unusual foods have affected a lot of people as I later found out) - nausea tablets, diarrhea tablets, fever and pain tablets, after-sun SOS, re-hydrate solution, anti-inflammatory tablets, enough sunblock! Even when your not in the sun, it reflects of the sand. The airport is very confusing, and the staff dont know what youre saying. Just follow the heard of people that are on the same flight- thats what we did at least.

Stayed here back in late August! It was few weeks after they reopened post corona madness. Most staff members were friendly and courteous! The breakfast menu was okay but I was disappointed they make the fluffy pancakes (I call them American pancakes)....would have loved to enjoy the way the locals make their pancakes.The bar and restaurant have very limited wine list! I had to purchase my own drink elsewhere since theirs was unsatisfactory! The food was okay on most days but not memorable.What I enjoyed the most was the beach, the pool and watching the sunset 🌇 basically the main beach life!

We were due to stay in Baobab in April for a week. After 8 months of loads of emails to numerous emails provided by Baobab resorts, plan hotel (the managing company), very expensive calls to Switzerland (where the main company is based) we still haven’t got our money back. We paid for an all inclusive week which wasn’t cheap and the company refuses to give us a refund. Instead they has given us the option of a voucher to one of their hotels. Majority of their hotels are in Africa (we live the UK) so it makes it really difficult for us to get there due to Covid restrictions. The hotels they have in Europe are nowhere as good value for price as the ones in Africa (hotel in Italy is almost £500 a night!!). I wouldn’t trust booking with them in case your plans change for any reason.

All good except the fact that there is NO free Internet in the rooms. You have to pay extra to get an Internet in the room. Free Internet at the receprtion and in the bar.

Great service and beautiful beaches, I recommend. I would love to see better deck chairs and deck chairs for two, but the rest was great.

This ia a safe resort. The resort is always kept clean. Erry night theres some entertainment which you can join in. Keep it up you guys!!! Ill definitely be back.

Please stay away from this scam resort. There is nothing positive about this place except the hardworking staff who are clearly being worked to death non-stop.Some of the bad things about this place -1 - The loud noise from outside the resort which is not being mentioned anywhere2 - The rooms are in need of repairs and the furniture is very cheap and there is no TV. Our room had broken bathroom lights, cracked toilet seat & broken bed and mould on the wall. Even the doors are so wafer thin that you can see outside lights through the cracks and hear everything.3 - The focus is clearly on making profit from naive customers as they know the customers will never return4 - The beach is not private at all as a lot of public walks through it

I wouldnt recommend it. The location is good on the beach among all of the other resorts. The rooms are in need of repairs. Mine had broken bathroom lights, toilet seat & tank & bed as well as a moldy wall. I saw other also in with bad walls & bathrooms. The staff are not properly trained or allowed to even use a phone, computer or copier to check you in, copy your passport (which will sit out in the open for days awaiting the owner), or assist you. The staff have to work 7 days a week with no days off for months at a time. No wonder the customer service was lacking! They werent taking credit cards when I stayed but hadnt told the guests prior to their arrival in the town with no ATM. The food & drinks are more expensive than the other places around with little variety. Everything is buffet style with food labels in only Italian. Staff also mostly only speak Italian. Things look great on the outside though & I enjoyed my stay because the beach is paradise & every other restaurant I went to was great.

You are right near the public beach so you can see a little bit of the Zanzibar life style of the young and active. Jambo means hello and everyone says hello, everyone! We go to Zanzibar min once a year for the past 7 years. Sandies was so great. Rooms are brand new and lovely. Staff very helpfull and friendly. And the chef takes pride in his food which was delicious every evening. Great ocean to swim in and local shops and bars close by. Would definitely recommend

I stayed at the hotel with a group of coworkers. The reception was great, the rooms are not quite spacious but they are well arranged and comfortable. The staff are friendly, the food is delicious 😋😋 they cook your pasta right in front of you letting you pick all the delicious ingredients. I had two issues, the close the restaurant at 10am to clean meaning we could not stay a bit longer to chat and even wait for arriving colleagues. The second is during night hours as we were drinking and having fun apparently others guests did not like our local music and the music was shut down. Not cool

The Indian Ocean is beautiful but everything at this resort is very costly because no alkokol beverages which are sold on the package are available to be consumed before 18.00 at night.Thus no cocktails till 18.00.

One of the best holidays. Renewed resort where small jobs are still running. The place is amazing, the sea is really blue and the sand really white. The staff is incredible, still smiling, nothing is impossible, and after a long summer we have got accommodation. The (kitchen) was famous, a wide selection of dishes. The room was clean , the beds were good for us. We did not want to leave. Only the best memories. Frank, Patricia, Serengeti, Margret, Grace, Elizabeth, Abdulah and others ....

About to take over half of the nearby Nungwi public beach, excluding locals and tourists from inland Nungwi hotels! I cincerely hope that this will be blocked by the authorities!
