- Food portions were shockingly small, insanely overpriced and poor selection- THERE IS NOT A BEACH! Its the dirty entrance to the locals fishing harbour. Plastic and debris litter the shoreline- Please understand that the marketing videos and photography for this location are highly selective and have undergone post processing. It is not accurate in the slightest.- Location is absolutely dire. Nothing around it at all and a trip to the town by taxi is USD 50 one way!- Curtains dont fit the windows so no privacy- Pool maintenance was poor with damaged and dangerous decking surrounding.- Worn out old towels with a few holes.- KEEP TRACK OF WHAT YOUR TAB IS SO THAT YOU CAN DISPUTE ANY OVERPAYMENTS AT CHECK OUT TIME. Tried to overcharge us for lunch on a day we were not even present at the hotel.- The manager was openly rude and aggressive to staff members Infront of the clients.- A safe that can be picked up and removed from its place is NOT safe.- Paddle boards are damaged and missing vital parts- There is an abandoned nightclub right next door to the property and is a popular hangout for noisy locals after school/work every single day without fail.
Amazing hotel. Group Manager Mr Jagath & Resort Manager Ms Farida, Stella and whole staff they took care of us Amazingly. we were upgraded to Beach Villa & the Seafood was Amazing.. Rooms were Nice and clean and the service is first class.. I strongly recommend this hotel and thank you for the first class service 🤗
Laying off a cliff overwatching pristine waters and a fishing village, chuini was all but a realm of peace and relaxation. The staff was very helpful and always welcoming with a smile. We recommend it !!
Me and my wife visited Zanzibar Island for my 60th birtday . We travelled around the Island and stayed in different hotels. On the last part of our holiday we accidently came across Chuini Boutique Hotel. This gem is near the city but still gives you that Island feeling. As you enter the hotel you feel at home . The service from everyone was amazing. The general manager Jagath and resort manager Farida are doing an excellent job, taking everything to a next level. We had the best food on our holiday at Chuini. I think everyone visiting Zanzibar , should start or end there holiday at the Chuini boutique hotel. Keep up the good work .
Best reception from Farida and later handled to Stella, the staffs are so welcoming and the hotel is generally very amazing
What a great stay. Just left this place yesterday and am already reminiscing about how lovely it was. It’s off the beaten path (aka away from Stone Town a bit) which is refreshing. The beach is a little rocky below the resort, but there are some sandy areas to walk along as well. The big draw of this place is just the atmosphere. It’s calm, relaxing, and feels like a little village all to yourself. The staff are amazing, especially the lady who appears to run the place. She gets to know the guests and personalizes the experience. The drinks were great, breakfast was fun, loved the free paddle boards, and the rooms were fantastic. Better than I even expected it to be. This is a place I would come back to.
We spent a whole week in Chuini Zanzibar beach lodge and it was great! The place is beautiful and the view is breathtaking. Food is good and variable. The service was very kind and caring, they listened and tried to solve every request we had- from a little change in the meal to a big problem we ran into with the agency we booked from.We highly recommend staying there, its just magical!
Great view, great food, nice rooms and superb swimming pools.Beach is not good for swimming.Overall, great and quite place for relaxation.
Dont bother trying to visit this place. Just tried to visit to see what they had planned for NYE tomorrow and possibly have dinner tonight as we are only next door. We were kept at the gate while Security contacted someone in charge. It would seem that $20 per person is the entrance fee - fat chance of that happening! So were off to Stone Town tomorrow for NYE and overnight accommodation. Im sure that they wont mind the loss at Chuini
Unique place, beautiful and stylish. Great views and pool area! Loved the free standup paddle boards too!
Staying at the Ngalawa Hotel Resort and thought we would walk over to visit this lodge for dinner with a view if we liked the venue, then we would book to have our New Year dinner here. We were held at the gate by security until he radioed through to the owner who replied we could enter but would have to pay $20pp and thats without even seeing the place?! Declined, dissatisfied, disappointed and the owner is delusional if she thinks anyone will pay without even seeing the place! Dont waste your time attempting visiting this place.
As soon as you walk into this lodge you get the feeling everything was done with thought, love & total commitment.A stunning lodge to say the least. The view from this property is beyond breath taking, a must if youre looking for that lodge with something extra special, this is it, look no further.Kind regardsFerdie Liebenberg
The room was elementary, with no TV, no bath, no telephone, louvre windows that offer no sound protection. One of the windows only had a sheer curtain with no privacy from the outside. It was most unfortunate that during our last night at the hotel, there was a rodent eating the ceiling, that we thought it was going to come through the roof. We were unable to get any sleep and was unable to call as there was no telephone in the room. When this was brought to the managers attention the next morning, her lack of concern or willing to address the issues was appalling. This spot caters to couples, so if you do not fall in this category, stay clear.
First off; rent a car! Arriving to hotel is a bit hesitating, youre getting off road and even with Google Maps assistance wouldnt make you feel comfortable. Its because their entrance is not on a mainstream street, its remoteness is what makes this establishment unique and peaceful -main street is at least a 15 minutes walk away and theres literally no possible way for a foreigner to use public transport (open buses filled with people and packs). Once you arrive, you feel the tranquillity of Zanzibar. They offer you a welcome drink in the lobby looking the marvelous turquoise sea, and offer you a guide around the hotel and room. Theres another special thing about here is, you experience the tide of the sea -the private beach is actually a small bay and within the day you can see it dried and then filled with water again in minutes. Theres a pool within but Id recommend getting in to sea after the tide. Amenities are free to use, food is good inside the hotel but hey, youre in a foreign place so instead biting some burgers inside, Id recommend going out of the comfort zone and try exotic dishes somewhere else. I even took a tour out, watched Tanzanian kids playing some African football and had some shopping from a local grocery store without communicating through words. =) Back to subject; hotel personel is very helpful and has a very positive attitude. Breakfasts were amazing and way filling, both taste and view-wise. This was a stay Id memorize until the end of my days.
Unique location. Historical and right on the sea. Most important is Daniel the manageress who is doing a superb job keeping us happy. Service is excellent. Food great. Very well managed resort
A perfect place to calm down and relax close to Stone Town. If you look for an unspoiled place with perfect service - here you go. Italian Management ensures nice cuisine, good wines and: a tasty Espresso (ask for a “short one”)! Quiet private lodges, the best trained staff I have met across East Africa, and a stunning sunset every evening. Close proximity to Stone Town and spice farms invites for day trips. What else one need to enjoy...
Nice place with natural featuresWhen your there you enjoy sea breeze and sun set

Chuini Zanzibar nice
Food was terrible and expensive. When we wanted to check out 1 day earlier, they tried to charge us more than what we payed on booking.com.Rooms were dirty. Its called Chuini beach lodge, but there is no beach. The pool was under construction so it was dangerous too swim and walk.Wifi was very bad.Staff was very friendly thats why we gave 2 stars.
We got robbed by this hotel!!!!We booked with booking. Arrived on site the rooms were so humid that I triggered an eye allergy. We explained the situation to the manager. The manager guaranteed us that we could choose another safer hotel and that the hotel would reimburse us in full for the room given the situation... But nothing at all! We learned that the hotel had refused this refund after this departure!!
If I could put less I would, thank you chuini for ruining our last days of vacation in paradise. In the first place, the hotel is far from absolutely everything and you have to use taxis daily to go to a beach, since the hotel offers nothing, a small and poorly maintained pool and a stagnant beach where the fishermen of the area work. After spending 2 incredible weeks in various hotels on the island, we chose chuini to spend the last 5 days since the photos that appear on the internet have nothing to do with reality. Without a doubt, it is the place with the most mosquitoes on the entire island, it really is incredible, I have a video of a night where you couldnt even open your eyes because of the amount that there were and they got in absolutely everywhere but it wont let me upload it, every night there is an adventure not to catch malaria. There is no beach itself. Dirty, old rooms, in fact we have seen that the hotel is for sale and it is normal, it clearly needs reforms and renovation and of course fumigation. The last night was incredible, they entered the room like 2 million insects attracted by the light. It is no way to have maintained a hotel of this magnitude. It would have been a magnificent place if they took care of the place accordingly. The staff was absolutely wonderful especially Charo, the waitress. But the hotel is in frank decline. For the same price you can find beautiful beach areas and better hotels.
Great time to spend at this magnificent hotel with my partner the staff was great very friendly Well located, very good restaurant really I really recommend this hotel
Well, we have no words to express how we felt and were made to feel in this charming hotel. The staff is unbeatable, super attentive, thoughtful and very professional. The manager is always aware of all the guests and everything you may need. Excellent food and cuisine, varied, very good and very well presented. The hotel takes care of the details and with some precious decoration touches. The room is very spacious with a very very comfortable bed and a great shower, which is what is most needed when you arrive tired from the day or from an excursion. We want to highlight above all the humane treatment of the entire team and the details. From the moment you arrive until you leave, whatever time it is. We already want to return !! Thank you very much for these wonderful days with you. A hug for everyone
A very nice discovery! We started our stay in Zanzibar at this hotel. We arrived early in the morning after a long journey and passed through a village we werent sure what to expect and we literally took our breath away when we arrived, the view was amazing and the staff made us feel very welcome. We were offered a welcome cocktail, the staff introduced themselves and made us feel right at home. We arrived several hours before check in but we were still taken care of.The rooms are lovely, spacious and clean. The staff were extremely nice, helpful and available. We really felt at home. Even if the hotel is full you will feel like you are alone. You will find tranquility there. Time stands still and you will appreciate the calm.A place not to be missed when visiting Zanzibar. The food is a bit expensive but still of good quality. The Spa is of very good quality, the setting is restful, intimate and the masseuse super nice. Even though we had some concerns, the staff found quick and appropriate solutions. Thanks to the whole Chuini team for this escape.I highly recommend.
The hotel was our second stop. Rooms clean but tired. Restaurant poor. The beach is very weak.
I was in a wonderful place about a month ago. I have no words to describe the beauty of this place. I really experienced HACUNA MATATA ....... WITHOUT THOUGHTS, ABSOLUTE RELAXATION, PEACE, TRANQUILITY. EXCELLENT COOKING, EXCELLENT SERVICES, WONDERFUL STAF. PERFECT QUALITY AND PRICE. THANKS FOR EVERYTHING I RECEIVED.
Small Hotel, ideal for couples! We had a very good welcome with a welcome cocktail. The setting is heavenly, the room is very well decorated with good equipment (mattress, air conditioning, mosquito net windows, ...).The staff is amazing, your little care from waking to bedtime, always present for you and anticipates your needs. The dinners are excellent. The excursions offered by the establishment are great. The owner couple is charming and available to make your stay in Zanzibar an unforgettable one.
Fish do not know how to fry, inside is raw.Tartar and carpaccio of fish were still quite. Only lobster with big crawfish and large shrimp was a success. All the food on the menu with no options, you can just not take something. You can swim in the bay, there is very little seaweed, but you don’t feel like it. Behind the wall of our house Serengeti I & II at night on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 5 ... 6 oclock in the morning there is a disco in CHAZA BEACH and constantly walk along the gravel road and make loud noises, local residents say.
Sometimes the islands of Zanzibar are called, along with the island of Mifia, the Spice Islands, although this phrase is usually meant for the Maluku Islands group. The Arabic name زَنْجِيّ بَرَّ, Zanji Bar, means Negro country. This is because Zanzibar was a center for black slave trade run by Muslims. The old coins of Zanzibar from the reign of Emperor in Emotion contained the name with one word plus ا a thousand and no يّ ya in the middle. Thus: زنجبارا Zanjabara.
Great place with a small teamTop care! 🙏👍
Very nice place to relax excellent food and service .. excellent!
Nice but a bit too expensive for the quality of the food
Beautiful sunset from the restaurant terrace.
A wonderful place is highly recommended!
The cocktails are top ... 😂
The biggest disappointment in Zanzibar
