I had hoped to spend a few hours here at the pool and enjoying dinner before tonight’s long flight. However this is a DRY hotel, this should really be made clear in all marketing. Reception staff whilst very polite were unable to change currency as “it’s a dollar only hotel” and were not prepared to keep a safe box key for collection that I’d accidentally put in my bag. Very poor customer service.

Dhow Menu is simply great. The themed buffet for dinner and regular breakfast buffet offer value... truly filling. Well appointed and elegant.We had a peaceful conversation, too. The staff are well-mannered and hospitable.

We booked this hotel for 1 night before going in safari.The room doesnt resemble the pictures and the bathroom wasnt cleaned at all, hair all over the place , however this wasnt even the worst part as we would have coped for 1 night despite paying $140.This is the only hotel in Zanzibar (or everywhere weve traveled in the world) that doesnt help their client with holding their luggage for their duration of their safari/trip, despite holding the luggage for tens of airline crew members. We insisted and begged them to help us as there is no other option on the island to store luggage because all the hotels do it for their customers, besides this hotel.After me and my girlfriend insisting , the manager took us on the side and said he will do it for $400 and put it in the managers office , this entire time crew members literally coming and picking up their luggage. The manager only wanted to scam the tourists thinking we would pay since were desperate with no alternative. We ended leaving after 1 hour (of course without a refund ) and going to one of the other hotels nearby the airport which was cheaper, cleaner and they happily held our luggage free of charge!

Very good hotel with a helpful and kind staff. The location is perfect as it is near to the airport (5 minutes walk).The hotel itself is well taken care of, car park and security are excellent.

Fabulously clean rooms, great restaurant and service, as yet no alcohol on offer, but breakfast buffet offers everything you could wish for. Excellent!

What a beautiful experience watching the ( airplanes ) birds flying from deluxe airport view rooms.. definitely coming back, and highly, highly recomend this beautiful property for the travelers.

The best option in Zanzibar if you have an early flight. Just a few minutes away from the airport and with ammeneties making you feel like home. The restaurant offers delicious food. But the highlight was the kids playground, as it was the first one we found on the island for our 6 years old son.

Great hotel! Staff were very friendly and very helpful. They think in terms of possibilities. The rooms were also great! Very clean and hygienic. Only downside was the music in the hallway. Can be heard clearly from the room late at night and early in the morning. So much so that I couldnt sleep well. Advice is to turn it down a bit so that it can at least not be heard from the room.

The hotel itself is ok and the staff is very nice … except that they had not registered our reservation (made directly on the Golden Tulip site), that we had to wait 1 hour to get a room - not cleaned … a 2nd one ? Not done either! Finally the 3rd was the good one.No apologies or compensation offered. It is not the standard of such a hotel to be so incompetent, especially after 24 hours of travel to arrive in Zanzibar…

The hotel is well equipped, excellent breakfast, swimming pool, quiet rooms, tea, coffee, air conditioning. Very helpful staff.
