Had a great lunch waited by a very sweet waitress. We had a short talk to the French owner. Very nice guy (the picture is just a joke). The place has an Indian touch to it with colonial furniture. I ordered octopus with mashed potatoes....excellent!!

The one word I have to describe our stay at the Kholle House is INCREDIBLE! From the architecture, design and friendly staff this spot in Stonetown cannot be beat.I want to give a special shout-out to the staff that works here. From all my travels they were the absolute best. Their sweet smiles and excellent service and attentiveness was so appreciative and will never be forgotten!I will recommend all my friends and family to stay here if they ever travel to Zanzibar.

I booked the Swahili Suite and immediately fell in love with Kholle House. The ambiance is exactly what I was looking for in a boutique hotel that emphasizes local culture and history. I had to spend a few days working remotely from the hotel, and the internet in the restaurant/garden and on the rooftop was excellent, if you need good internet. The staff were all really attentive and enjoyable to get to know. I tried almost everything on the restaurant menu and its all excellent. Will definitely stay here again. The fragrant ylang-ylang tree in the garden on its own is worth visiting. The whole place has the most amazing scent thanks to this tree!

We had a very nice stay at Kholle Boutique Hotel! The satff was super friendly, the food at breakfast and the restaurant were really good (the hibiscus juice is absolutely fantastic!). The whole hotel has been rebuild recently in ancient Stone Town style so it is a true piece of art and history. It is not uncommon to have other tourists stop by and ask permission to take photos of the beautiful doors and architecture. The bed was very comfortable so they must have changed things since the last bad comments two years ago.The hotel has a small but nice swimming pool. It also has a massage centre and can organize trips for the guest. It is also very well located to discover the old Stone TownOne fair warning however: it is right next to an historical mosque so if you are easily bothered by the calls for prayer (which for me is part of the experience when visiting Muslim countries) you might want to head for a less authentic hotel :-)

Cosy, beautiful boutique hotel with a history. Princess Kholle was the daughter of Sultan al-Busaid. Restored by a French man and his local partners according to UNESCO standards, this oasis in the heart of Stone Town is a testament to how the Princess could possibly have lived. The furniture and fittings add to the ambience and the grounds are cosy for breakfast and sit ins. The rooftop gives a panoramic view of the town , and the sea, with the Ports just a birds eye view away. Beware there is no tv or telephone in the rooms. No elevators so the steep stairs may be tasking to anyone with an impairment. Staff are super pleasant

Beautiful hotel down quiet backstreets, with stunning colonial-style decor. Staff are very friendly and helpful (finding us a phone charger when ours had broken). There’s also a well-maintained central garden, with plants, lawn, and a FREEZING pool.

Dim and dark room, unless the doors were open, then it was hot and noisy. Uncomfortable bed, views of the containers in the port. Items unavailable at breakfast every day. Nappies left in bedside drawer. Towels smelled like they had been used to mop up rain water. Rude lady on reception. Such a pity as its a beautiful old building, with some decent lighting, bedding and friendly staff it could be the nicest place to stay in Stone Town.

Anne was a super Host, we had a lovely time in that beautiful room with everything you need on it ! The breakfast is just amazing and so fresh everything is cook at the min. You can also have a dinner on the roof with local musicians... what an experience I recommend !!The hotel is also really close to the see and to the excursion to prison island and also to the old city of stone town...We’ve not been to the swimming pool (which is a must in that city) but we enjoyed the little garden around the pool !!!The staff is also really nice as Anne that help us a lot to arrange taxi to pick up us to the airportSo we totally recommend that place to stay it’s perfect... the Zanzibar paradise start here :))

To stay anywhere else in Stone Town would be madness. Its a perfect sanctuary just a short stroll away from the Old Fort and waterfront.A beautiful, small, boutique hotel in an old moorish-style palace, tucked away discreetly behind the Old Dispensary. Timeless elegance, fabulous food, exemplary service, warm welcome and amazingly good value. We enjoyed an exquisite lunch in the pretty garden restaurant before relaxing by the pool.Free wifi, aircon, safe, pool towel, toiletries. On my list of best places I have ever stayed, and it wont break the bank

I really enjoyed my stay here, and Kholle House came as advertised. Its a rehabilitated house (hotel) with very rustic and authentic (I imagine, though what do I really know as Im a Westerner, frankly). grounds. The grounds are well-kept and the rooms are nice, and as I mentioned, authentic, but if youre looking for typical western luxury accommodations, I cant say this will be your spot. The people who worked here are great, nice, and friendly so no complaints there. The location is the real reason I go 4-stars as I knew what I was getting into when I booked; its a solid 10 minute walk to where you want to be, and closer to 15-20 minutes to where you really want to be, though there is a nice beach where when its low-tide, the locals play futbol (good spot for a sunset). Breakfast is good enough, no complaints there either. If its the experience youre looking for, Id recommend it!

Dream stay to end our trip to Zanzibar. This renovated old palace is sublime. Beautiful and very comfortable rooms. We loved the pool, the breakfast and the service. The restaurant offers a small menu but everything is good and fast (quite rare on the island so significant). The hotel is ideally located near the old dispensary and the fort. This is an address that we would like to keep for ourselves as it is perfect 🥰

The impression is that you are in a museum of ancient times, but surprisingly clean and cozy, very friendly staff. Our room was on the third floor and its always an adventure to get to it. But there was also a roof terrace with panoramic views where you can smoke a hookah or just enjoy the colorful views of the city. We had a great time staying here for two days! We want to come back

This is a delight! I enjoyed visiting the rooftop lounge more. We were greeted by a very pleasant hotel employee, showed the hotel, the interiors are just a miracle !! led upstairs, brought coffee with spices, we were alone with a young man - and it reminded me of some kind of fairy tale! Next time we will definitely stay at this hotel 💕💕💕

Here you want to photograph every corner. I would say an Instagram hotel. The hotel is designed in oriental style. Carved balconies, shuttered windows, vintage furniture, bulky bolted doors, creaking steps. The feeling that you are in a fairy tale.In the backyard there is a pool, garden and gazebo. There is a roof terrace.Breakfasts are served both indoors and outdoors. Omelet in different variations, pancakes with honey or jam, juices, coffee, fruits. The staff are friendly. On the day of our departure, to the airport (before 15:30), after walking around the city, we asked to spend several hours by the pool. To which we received a positive response and had a great time. We were able to take a shower afterwards, change clothes and go home.

A beautiful hotel, run by French people, in the old town of Stone Stown. A lot of charm and history in this completely renovated place, with remarkable architecture! Special mention for the very nice pool which is a crazy good after the sweltering atmosphere of the city. The rooms are air-conditioned, which is also very nice here. Do not hesitate to dine at the hotel, the food is really excellent.

Top top top. From the decor to the staff everything was perfect. We have clearly traveled and been disoriented in this beautiful hotel! The most beautiful of our trip. Everything was there to make us feel good. The welcome from louisa and the French manager who takes the time to talk to us. The decor is chosen and carefully filed. The beauty products in the rooms smelled overwhelming. The succulent breakfast served at the table freshly prepared. The dream. I do not regret my reservation or the place at all. Intimate place, full of history, very beautiful restoration. Excellent home. Breakfast very good. And super suprise: Anna the manager of the hotel speaks French. Welcoming, smiling, nice ... pity that I am not tested more time (1 night) to discuss with her. I regret it sincerely. I did not even have time to cool off at the pool .... if we always knew everything. Negative point: closing / opening doors noisy. And the prayer that wakes up well, this is absuolutely not a remark for a hotel that can do absolutely nothing. Its just a little reminder for the tourists because I had completely zapped this point. I recommend this place to be close to the city, behind a beautiful moment And to be taken for a night or more for a princess in her little palace. The soap soap with cloves .... hum a wonder. Thanks to Anna and her team for your warm welcome. Carine
