We went there last year, very dangerous situation. Nails coming out the walls, lights not conneted well, we were under power by thouching the lights, holes in the wooden floor, dirty sheets, very old en dirty toilets and shower. Weve tried the talk with the management, that went terrible, theve threatened us that we better not write a review, really a terrible experience. We really experienced it as terrible. On their website it looks like paradise but the reality is not properly maintained and very expired place.

What you see on Internet is not what you find when you get there! Nobody at the reception to welcome you the watchman will go call them and they will make you pay before you see the room. Once in the room no drinking water no shower kit at all except towels. the AC doesnt work correctly and the electricity is very unstable as well as the WiFi. Everything goes slowly you have to be patient. No alcohol a bottle of soft drink is $3 and a glass of fresh juice is $6. Cant recommend it to s friendPositive note: quiet place lovely local people around the hotel

Nice staff and great location.A rude and awfull management ruins a hotel that has the potential of being great.Green pool, no AC, no wi-fi, broken refrigiator, bathroom smells and the kitchen was often out of dishes, water and cola. Otherwise tastefull food but in a limited choice.I enjoyed my vacation, but book another hotel! This is Africa and i know things arent the same as home, but even for Africa this sucks! This mafioso management seriously need to find another hobby!!

I walked in and around the place and wow, its beautiful. The rooms have AC, and the pool is awesome. The beach in the backyard is amazing.Though it can be a bit of a jail, because if you go to the beach the people selling junk and the false masai can get over whelming

Resort looks very nice. Bungalows, sand, palms, pool, rustic restaurant African decorated. Our big thanks go to waiters and cleaning ladies, they were very kind and smiling. Bed in a room was comfy with a mosquito net. Clean-up was every day and satisfating. The cleaning lady made sometimes funny animals from towels on bed or just decorated by flowers, it was really nice. The beach and the sea are like paradise. There are also comfy sunbeds and beautiful sunshades. Resort is calm and perfect for relaxing holidays. No reception. Our room didn’t look like in pictures on booking, but anyway it complied a purpose. We didn’t have a fridge, after our claim we got it, but it didn’t work, also it gave me few electric shocks. Wardrobe was interesting, but there are bugs in it (probably wood-worms?!), you can see holes how they got there. We still heard noises from closet and it was really annoying. In restaurant you are waiting toooo long for your food. It’s not normal to wait for one course 75 mins, or just for bruscceta with tomatoes 40 mins. And it’s just an example. In a room, sometimes, an electricity, air-condition or water didn’t work. It’s not so comfy when you come from beach and you have to wait an hour for a shower. After we told these inconveniences to the italian owner, he started to be rude, screamed and told us, that the problem with water is somewhere else, not in our resort, so other resorts have same problems, so we need to wait, and their favorite phrase: ,This is Africa’. But sorry, it’s not our problem, we paid quite enough money for our stay, so it should work. Later, we found out from locals, that it’s not true, it’s not normal and hotel should solve these problems.. Also, we got wind, that we wait too long for our food because they make meals from fresh food. We work in luxury italian restaurant and luxury boutique hotel so we know, how fresh food preparing could last, maximum 30 mins, yes, it’s possible. They say, they make a homemade fresh pasta, pasta was good everytime, but it was not homemade. Every piece was same and didn’t taste like homemade. That’s also a thing we didn’t like about the food-a lot of italian food. We really like italian food, but not in Africa, here we would like to taste traditional meals, there should be more of that in a restaurant. Yes, they offer seafood and it’s good, but we can have it in every country which have a sea. But after our complain about waiting, we had our food faster. But also after that, nobody from management didn’t greet us anytime (very sad)..A dinner starts at 7:30pm, (not only) for us it’s too late, I think it should start at around 6pm. On a breakfast there is just poor selection of meals, almost just from eggs. There should be also barrels of water or juices, not just on offer.A taxi from airport (or capital city) to hotel costs $50. Manager told us it’s normal price, but I think, for this country it’s too much. After discuss with manager we had a better price ($40) for trip from resort to Stone town, still enough, but better. On our way back to resort we found a taxi driver who were happy to take us for $35....What is also weird, when management sprees in a pool for guests. It makes very bad image for the resort. We travel a lot, but things like there never happened to us. We had a feeling that ,We just must pay, and then nobody cares about us. If we have a problem, it’s our fault, deal with it, it’s Africa.. Don’t wait for some refund.’ After read another reviews (and management’s responds - too sad) we found out, that we are not only ones, who have same view. This is our true review, we don’t want to harm someone, but the resort management should stop behave childish and start head the problems like an adult and a professional.. The resort is standing just on the staff and guests, and the management should value them. But with their mindedness it will take a lot of time to get to know, what is hospitality about.

DO NOT BOOK IN THIS HOTEL waste of money and they cheat you.On arrival they charged extra for the accommodation and we had to pay it as we had no choiceThe receptionists seem very unprofessional hardly speaking English and whatever you ask them they laugh at you.The hygiene of the hotel is less than 0. The condition of the rooms are horrible health and safety standards are under the limit. I know its Africa but you pay a lot of money for a hotel which you would expect to deliver a standard service at least. The shower is proper disgusting used soap left after other guest, mold everywhere and the toilet stinks. The cleaner cleaned the room on the first 2 days after you had to ask them to clean or to give you clean tower or even just for toilet paper thats how much they dont care. The towels and the bed sheet is not cleaned properly they smell bad and they have stain everywhere (see in pictures). In the room there is a serious insect invasion full of cockroaches and termites and you can hear them from the ceiling eating the wood all night you cannot sleep from the noise. No A/C is working in the room but the one you have is extremely loud so you wont be able to sleep either because of the noise or because of the boiling heat you have in the room. After the 3rd day we spent there the swimming pool became extremely dirty and they didnt change the water because it was low season so we couldnt get to use the swimming pool for more than 1 week although we paid for it.We paid for breakfast and most of the items from the menu is not available so you get to eat the same thing everyday. They serve food what is already off taste bad and the portion of the food is getting less and less day by day. Also they use out of date products what expired 6 months ago!!If you decide to eat something youll get ridiculously small portion and expect youll get extra food poisoning with it.We had to go to other hotel and pay extra for taxi to use swimming pool, to use WiFi and eat proper food as they didnt provide any of these.I really wish someone would review this hotel and other tourists wouldnt need to waste their money here.

Trap for tourists. Had to leave after first day. Got just 1/3 of the money as refund. Electricity and water didnt work properly. No alcohol on the bar - dont have licence for selling. Food very expensive and cooking nonsence italian dishes - risotos and others. Rooms old, toilet and bathroom smells bad, shower hose too short. Seems like the owner do not care for years. Surrounding local city do not offer anything, no shops, no local restaurant. It is a dead corner of island for old couples. Overall rating - too expensive for nothing, but beach is nice. There are better places on island in the south - lika Page or Jambiani.

DONT BOOK HERE. this place is a nightmare, it’s horror and pure fraude. They took our money and we didn’t get rooms after a few days. The elektricity in the room is broken (dangerous), the showers are full dirt and mold. The toilet leaks and the toilet water comes in the shower everytime you use it. No alcohol is served. The swimming pool is also dirty. If you ask for something to the manager he won’t come (we waited everyday for the manager, he didn’t come). I have Made an appointment daily, after 5 days he still was not there. After complaints nobody come here. Even the manager didn’t reply e-mails trough The Booking site. The food is only a little bit rice with OR chicken OR fish OR vegetables. Everyday the same. If you book here, you can throw your money on the Beach as well. We booked another place and no refund or compensation is made.We have talked with other guest and their experience is the same. Too bad becaiuse the place looks fine. It’s a waste they do things like this. It isn’t worth one star!

I visited Zanzibar in December 2018 and stayed at the Dhow Club. The location, price, and services are really good. The Dhow Club is located about 30 mins drive both directions from Stone Town in the South and Nungwi in the North. If you would like to tour Stone Town during the day and enjoy the buzzing night life in Nungwi, this is the place to stay. Be sure to also catch the low tide on the beach where you will find all types of marine lives including star fish, Eels, and Sea Urchins (careful with the spikes on those guys). The staff at the Dhow Club are simply amazing. Ask for Ava, she’s the sweetest and warmest person you will ever meet. I paid $110 per night for full service (3 course meal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner). You get served freshly-squeezed watermelon or pineapple juice based on your preference. You also get to select between fresh fish and beef (grilled or cooked based on your preference). The Dhow Club is simply the bang for the buck in Zanzibar in term of accommodation. I recommend it with 5-star rating.

The Joke Hotel (Tomorrow Hotel) Don’t chose this hotelI have never experienced a place like this. The management was totally crazy and threaten the customers complaining and there was a lot of customers complaining. There was nothing working, the pool was broken and the water all green, and I can see on the review it still is here 4 weeks after we left. Every day we were told -tomorrow all will work again -. The air-condition was broken so the heat at night was massive -Tomorrow all will work again - We asked for a fix of the refrigerator that didn’t worked so we at least can have some cool water, that never happened, again we were told - tomorrow all will work again -The manager was blaming everyone else except himself and never succeeded deliver a proper treatment to the customers. He left the hotel in the daytime and let the staff suffer and deal with the unhappy guests. That was really not ok because they did all they could but that was not much as nobody could find the hiding manager.

Our stay at The dhow club encountered the following problems:• the shuttle that was booked in advance to take us to the property from the airport never arrived. We had to find a taxi on our own by spending more money than we had agreed with the structure, because at that point we could not afford other solutions.• the facility wanted payment but they did NOT have the POS. By demanding payment in cash without even having notified us before giving us the opportunity to organize ourselves.Having only the euro currency because it was possible to pay by card, we would not be given the change since they had no cash and they wanted to apply the dollar exchange rate.• To pay we were then asked to go with them to withdraw with 7% commissions• we asked the guys to speak to the owner but we were told it wasnt possible until the next day.• the Wi-Fi was not working and they didnt know if it would be fixed in the next few days, so we didnt have the possibility to communicate.• the rooms were dirty, sheets stained, curtain with holes in them, bathroom not 100% working.

We spent a very bad week there. The structure is in an evident state of decay and risk, (see photos: expired fire extinguishers, exposed rusty nails, broken floorboards with dangerous protruding splinters, exposed electrical wires, dirty sheets and towels, broken mosquito nets, sick animals between the tables restaurant, etc.) and, when faced with complaints from guests, the manager behaves rudely and with bad manners. We paid for a room with air conditioning, wifi and use of the pool. The air conditioning is not working, the wifi takes very little and only in some places and the pool water is cloudy, it is impossible to swim. The toilet in the bathroom in the room does not have a support ring and despite requests, it has not been fixed.Upon our arrival in the room there was a dirty soap used by other guests. We asked for soap and only on the 4th day it was given to us.We asked for a refund for the services purchased and not used. The manager suggested we leave and cancel the reservation, accusing us of wanting to take advantage of the situation. On the last day, despite the Masai on guard in the facility, WE HAVE BEEN ROBBED of all the snorkelling equipment we kept on the veranda. Also, the manager DOES NOT ISSUE RECEIPTS. We paid 481 euros in cash upon arrival. After 6 days and constant requests the manager gave us a piece of paper with no The Dhow club header or his signature. A fake document! Other guests have also pointed this out, but no receipts have been made, not even for the meals eaten at the restaurant, where sick animals circulate. Look at the photos!

Hotel very much overlooked especially the outside, sun loungers all smashed with a few mats where to place the towel. Broken and dirty couches, neglected plants, the rooms repainted and spotlessly super friendly, excellent cuisine thanks to the cook and maids and maids really cleaning exquisite is the staff that makes up for the other shortcomings. The manager is absent and not very available, the people who were completely dissatisfied with us.

For quality and price it is excellent, it may have been the low season in June, but a bungalow for 3 people cost us very little, we had half board, where the breakfast was decent and nothing exciting, but the dinner was very good! Compliment to the young Zanzibari chef. The cleaning in the room made by local women was excellent, although I would avoid using too many perfumed products that spray or around (probably for the. Mosquitoes, almost completely absent)The location directly with. Access to. Beach makes it wonderful, especially when it is there. Low tide where a beautiful strip of sand is created and you can reach the. Coral reef, seeing the. Different species of sea urchins, starfish and nemo fish.It also enjoys good. Swimming pool if the sea is rough or too low.A resort suitable for couples or groups who want to enjoy Zanzibar and the real life of the people of the. Place, there is always relaxation, rooms only 12, if you are looking for resorts to party and drink alcohol, exclude it now. There are also some sore points, which unfortunately could be eliminated if there was a more careful management. Care of the. Customer,The biggest problem is the water in the shower in the room that is constantly missing, because the. The water fishing pump is blocked, The air conditioning in the room does not work perfectly and the maids have very little attention towards the customer, but in the whole island the law of Hakuna matata applies, so in conclusion if you are a people do not pretentious that they get used to. Climate that reigns on the island then this resort is your case otherwise avoided.
