The lady managing is awesome she’s lovely! She made my stay much better kuliko the other man there.A lot of use of insect repellent.

This hotel location is a posh area. Staffs are friendly. Services are good from a room to a breakfast at the terrace. For those who drink spicy (masala) tea should be inform to a chef or receptionist according to your requirements. Overall is good.

Nice place to relax in the center of events. Close to cultural monuments, lots of restaurants, and a short walk from the beach if you want to swim. The hotel has exemplary cleanliness, the staff is very nice. I recommend the hotel for accommodation.

Shangani hotel is a good hotel with affordable prices. Its located at the heart of Stone town. While at Shangani hotel you can visit all historical sites within a short period of time. You dont need to pay for tax or bus fares .Its easy to walk free around the city. In case you get lost in the process just say hi! Or habari to anyone you see around and for they will help you to go back to your hotel (Shangani or any other)Staffs at Shangani hotel are very welcoming. They also have free wifi for those who love chatting and browsing. On the last flow they have a place to serve food and drinks from outside in case you need to so.

OK hotel. The rooms arent the biggest, but comfortable beds and good air conditioning in the room.Nice breakfast on the roof of the hotel, which grants some good views out over the town and ocean. Good location, not far from the main seafront. Plenty of restraunts near to the hotel to go out for food.

Stayed at Bottoms up for 1st 5days thought we would have an upgrade!! for Valentines night room was nice but shared shower room toilet smashed shower broke wish we hadnt bothered

A decent place for people on a budget. Located in Stone town, its within 5mins of walking distance to major attractions like House of wonders and Forodhani Park. Also, theres complementary breakfast and free WiFi. Recommended for backpackers!

First thing that comes to my mind is LOCATION!! best one ever! everything is a few steps away, beach, markets, museums, Jaws Corner, even Freddy Mercurys house is like 30 meters away on the same street.Staff was very nice and friendly.Room was clean, it had veeery helpful aircon plus a big fanThe breakfast was very nice too, I enjoyed specially the hand made Mandazi, (Swahili donut), I had so many every day, I even had to sneak a few back to my room after breakfast.

I have been staying in this Shanghani Hotel for over 10 years and have seen a vast all round improvement to meet the expectations of the guests. Clean and friendly atmosphere right from the time you stepped into the hotel. What a hospitality. I very strongly recommend this hotel during your stay in stone town.

Ok for one/ two nights, we had a room with sharing bathroom. Not super clean facilities for the price, breakfast average quality but still ok if you like fried, chapatti, omelette (good!).

It is a okey hotel. In Stonetown, not far from park, ferry and beaches that you can take boat to go several different islands. Rooms are clean but not very big. They are comfortable and air circulation is very okey. I have stayed in third floor. Threy have also breakfast on rooftop. It is a ok breakfast. If u ask kitchen, they can makr you omlete without exstra coast. Nice hotel, lovely staff , definetly i recommend ....

I had booked a double room. On thursday august 16 around 4.00 pm.The booking was for25.8 departure 26.8.It was confirmed booking.On arrival in the evening. The manger informs us the hotel is fully booked.He was very arrogant. Said he cant do anything. We have monopolized that hotel for last 14 years. Have seen so many management change. Eventually one of the staff suggested we go to manzons. I am thankful to him . Manzons is better hotel. Very clean .breakfast was excellent and the bed and room was very clean. . I would not recommend shangani to anybody now.Firoz yusufali.

Nice customer service and hotel placed at centre of stone town

Booked via Airbnb. When me and my friend arrived, they claimed the price on their listing was wrong and insisted we pay more money (though they let slip that this exact thing had happened the day before to a different group, and that theyd just paid the extra money). After ages of arguing, the staff completely condescending and unhelpful (insisting theyd lose money if we didnt pay, claiming wed be using the a/c the whole night), we agreed to pay more just to get it over with. Then they tried to give us a room with only a fan despite our booking promising a/c, and their insistence that this is why theyd lose money. When I pointed that out, they refused to give us the room of our booking, refunded the additional money wed paid, but refused to cancel the Airbnb booking. The debacle was a huge waste of time.

Cozy place for a reasonable price. Enjoy a hot shower in the rooms or enjoy your favorite novel on their Zanzibar themed lounges on each floor. Breakfast is served on the rooftop where you get a good view of stone town. It is walking distance to Forodhani gardens(3-5mins) & the ferry(10-15mins). Quite accessible but can get quite noisy since it is by the main Street/road. Not the best place in stone town but affordable lodging & accessible

Nice location, reasonable price, rooms r average, breakfast was not too bad, as most of stone town hotels provide the same.. Worth a visit while overnight or two at stone town.

Rooms are ok but if you dont go to have breakfast early, u will be hungry , so stupid that they dont provide more foods for new comers

Simple hotel with good service. Breakfast has very beautiful view. The internet did not work on my floor but the reception was good. Just note when booking that they have rooms with external bathroom .. I had not noticed and asked to change room .. but they wanted to charge a room rate only change .. and this had daily value advertisement ..

Toilet flush did not always work, shower only little and cold water. Bedbugs included. Noise almost around the clock.

Night at € 50. Nice building in the center of Stone Town. Entrance with a souvenir shop that spoils the feeling. They will try to charge you more, but bargain. The rooms are regular, with some cockroach, breakfast is on the top floor and its a shame, but it comes included. Not bad, but I would look elsewhere before booking again. The receptionist, Habib, was nice.
