The Park Hyatt is a very historical property, and it was apparent throughout our stay that we were at someplace special. The property is located in Stone Town, which is also historic. Staff was helpful and forthcoming with suggestions and support. Manager Amos even walked me to the ATM (which was off site) and back. This is not a typical resort property, as its in a working part of the island and the beach is not the focus of leisure. Its a wonderful historic property in a cultural area. I would return!

My lady friend from Kenya walked in with the intention of buying some drinks at the bar and was asked to leave as she was not a resident. That was not a problem for me as with my white skin no questions were asked. But obviously I lost my appetite. Apparently some attitudes die hard in this former slavetrading hub.

Beautiful hotel. Interior design is stylish and functional. Spaces are elegant and clean. Staff is friendly and polite. The hotel room feels luxurious with ocean views and a giant bath. There are mosquito nets, although they are not necessary. Bedding is clean and comfortable, and the air condition is perfect after spending your day outside in the Zanzibar sun. The breakfast has many options, with pastries, fruits, yogurts, fish, pancakes, waffles, omelettes, eggs, sausages, potatoes, etc. They have a great coffee bar also, and there are Nespresso machines are in every room. The pool is beautiful, looking out towards the Indian Ocean. They dont serve pork here, there are outdated iHomes in the room (no bluetooth), and you cannot screencast/connect your phone or iPad to the television to watch a downloaded movie you brought with you. Great place if you have the money, but not sure it is worth the price tag. The Hilton nearby gives you more bang for your buck, and you can stroll in to this hotel and treat yourself to the restaurant or bar. Great props to the staff. Taryn and Vicky at the front desk, and the guard, Maxmillian out front were always great and accommodating.

Aesthetically the hotel is a 5-star rating but service wise, its on a 3 star level. Staff was very intrusive and outright ignored the do not disturb light that I put on by the door. Cases in point: I was taking a bath and service kept ringing my room phone- on the second phone call, I got out of the bath thinking it must be something urgent- turns out its the housekeeping lady asking why I had the DND button on my door because she wanted to perform her turn-down service in the room (seriously?). The second incident I was in bed taking a nap in the evening after a long day of sightseeing- again I had the DND button on and also put the chain on my door. Im asleep and someone knocks on my door and proceeds to use their key to open it! The chain prevented him from entering my room but Im so startled and irritated that I get out of bed to see whats happening-- its the service guy trying enter and place treats in a spice box in room. What on earth is so special about these treats that makes him think he can ignore the DND button and enter my room?! Totally unacceptable and thank goodness I had the chain on the door.

Excellent hotel - but beware of just one small thingThe Park Hyatt Zanzibar is amazing, phenomenal. You get the picture. I absolutely recommend this hotel. My husband and I stayed in the Zamani presidential suite. It genuinely was just incredible. Really luxurious and the interior decor was gorgeous. The only thing to be aware of is check in starts at 3pm. They are really rigorous about this. If you arrive in Zanzibar early and are shattered, you will be forced to wait till 3pm. Its not a dealbreaker but just letting you know to book your flights to arrive in the afternoon. The breakfast was lush and tasty. I appreciate the efforts the hotel has gone to making the spaces appropriate for C19.The verandah where the pool is overlooking the Indian Ocean cannot be beat. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Zanzibar.

The Park Hyatt Zanzibar is a beautiful property centrally located in the middle of Stone Town with absolutely exceptional service. It is an easy walk from the Hyatt to all the major Stone Town attractions, restaurants, and shops. The staff at the Hyatt is extremely friendly and warm, and provided excellent service, especially Victoria at the front desk who seemed to always be there ready to take care of anything. They were very excited I was a World of Hyatt member, and upgraded my room and gave me a late checkout (big perk in Zanzibar since many of the flights are late afternoon) without me asking. The room was beautiful with a wonderful sea view, separate bathtub, and all the amenities you would expect. After seeing all the plastic bottles used in Tanzania, I also really appreciated that they used reusable glass bottles for water. The infinity pool overlooking the ocean is spectacular, and the pool loungers were extremely comfortable. The only thing I found not up to par was the food at the pool. The menu was very limited and the food itself was not good (in sharp contrast to breakfast which was great).

Also when we were leaving they held our luggage for us until we departed to the airport. The food at the restaurant was great and very high quality including the breakfast buffet and dinner. The views from this hotel are breathtaking and we enjoyed the dΓ©cor which was very conducive to Zanzibar. The hotel housekeeping ensured they cleaned our room daily and provided us with clean towels. The room was very modern and clean including the bathroom. We enjoyed bathing in the bathtub at the room. There is no need for the Chef to bang the oven door in the Restaurant and look around as it was funny. And to be honest if the employees want to have conversations because not much to do, it can be done in a low voice attitude.2. Sparkling or still water was offered. We took sparkling no local option only imported. A big bottle. Waiter comes back with 4 small bottles and two of them already open. Sorry we dont have big bottle. Immediately felt cheated. Upscale luxury hotel, perfectly located in the best angle of stone town. Great views of prison island from the rooms, infinity pool and beach. Great service, breakfast, safe and clean.

Beautiful setting...it had the nostalgic feel, old exterior outlook but when you get inside, the rooms, other facilities - beautiful. The staff were so polite and helpful. Look for a guy, Bakari Bakari, one of the most helpful person I have ever met. Not a dull moment and a excellent get-away location.
