Literally just 3-4 tables with the ocean view. I was a bit sceptical at first since place looks very basic even for Africa. But the food was great we had a grilled octopus, best I had in a while and amazing vegetable curry 👌

Great price, delicious food and unbeatable view. You can ask for pretty much any seafood available locally and the guys will run down the beach to the nearby fish market and whip you up a fresh catch.

Local restaurant on a cute hut on the beach, with the best food we had in Matemwe. The chicken masala truly was otherworldly. Amazing views.

Had a nice diner here. Whats-apping the owner an hour beforehand to anounce our visit, was no problem. Nice veggie curry with a beer and a view on the beach. Recommending this as a good local alternative for the overpriced hotel restaurants.

Awesome. Beautiful view of the beach and ocean. You wont find this gem driving through the village so it would be best to walk along the beach. It is situated about 400metres from Zanzibar Queen Reaort - right next to Bin Jabir restaurant. SUPPORT THE LOCALS!

The view is very nice. A must go to enjoy a cold beer. For the food, it was just ok. Very surprised about all those good comments on the food. Had a fried calamari 18000 and chicken 18000. It was just ok not bad not good. BUT nice view.

Genuine local restaurant. Saw the guy getting the octopus ready and decided to give it a go. No better view anywhere around. Food and price are good. Thinking of returning there before leaving Zanzibar.

We found this gorgeous little restaurant on a wander down the beach to our hotel and we couldnt recommend it more. Its not a fancy restaurant and its not luxury, but its an amazing experience. A simple wooden shack with a beach view you simply couldnt beat. Service isnt fast, but when youve got that view and only the sound of the waves crashing against the beach to enjoy why would you be in any rush. And once the food does get to table its worth the wait... we ordered the local vegetable curry... it was delicious and very generous portion.The staff there were also a pleasure to meet. I lost something very valuable to me and contacted the restaurant to see if it was there. It turns out it was and they hand delivered it the hotel I was staying to get it back to me before I left Matemwe. I was (and still am) so grateful to Makuti for being so kind and for giving us a magical last evening in Matemwe

Just the cutest little beach side pop-up restaurant. This is not a fast food restaurant but who cares when you can watch beach life passing by and listen to the chef beating the octopus into submission below. Limited menu, mostly seafood. The manager is super friendly. Price is similar to the hotel restaurants but the atmosphere is unbearable. Opening hours are uncertain but if menu is up on the beach it is open.

Amazing. You must go! Local food freshly bought at fish market and cooked by local people, served in a small tower overlooking the beautiful matemwe beach. JB and his friends/colleagues are the nicest people we met in zanzibar and they can also organise boat trips, which I highly recommend (with my sister we just did the mnemba snorkelling one...fantastic!)

Amazing local seafood with the best sea view. It takes a bit time for them to prepare the food, but fresh food needs time and the guys are working with the heart at the right place!

Very delicious and fresh food. Amazing octopus salad. Lovely view from the terrace. Affordable prices. The only negative is the small portions. Waits about 40 minutes for food. You can go for a walk during this time. You should have a change, because there is a problem with releasing the rest.

A beautiful restaurant, typically Zanzibari, on the beach. You can order various typical dishes, or even just a drink. The simple grilled sandwiches are also delicious. Absolutely moderate prices. The view of the ocean, the beach and the many colors of the water is stunning.

Very good restaurant, the best sea view, very, very good food. It even went quickly even though it was full. Word has got around that the finest dishes are served here for great pleasure. And the ambience is priceless, everything is handmade, from the armchairs to the kitchen. A shining fixed star in the rather barren gastro sky in Zanzibar. 👍🏻

Uncomfortable chairs, small portions and a very slow kitchen. The advantages are ocean views. A great place to admire the ocean with a bottle of beer, you will wait for food for a very long time, most likely you will remain hungry, so just take drinks here.

Super good restaurant but you have to have the time

This restaurant looks like a very dumb bag, which is difficult to notice from the beach, but believe me - here are the largest portions and the most deliciously prepared dishes. With the guys, you can always agree on what you would like to try tomorrow and they will get it and cook it .. so we ordered dorado (oceanic dorado, not what we have in stores for 300 grams))) and a bunch of different other fish and crustaceans. They are handsome!

Very local restaurant with terrace and stunning Indian Ocean views. Service a bit slow (very slow 😉) but we never tire of the view! Typical and well-cooked dishes for a very reasonable price.
