I used here twice during my stay at Matemwe. The staff were kind and no music in the restaurant so I was able to relax while watching the sea. I ate calamari and veggie chapati and both were delicious! And also the chips were crispy and the most delicious chips I had in Zanzibar!!! Its reasonably priced and delicious, so I highly recommend it!!!!!

Hands down the best place to eat in this area! Super local, half the price than anywhere else, directly on the beach. We had the lime-garlic-chili shrimp as an appetizer and it was delicious! As mains we had grilled squid and grilled octopus and it was also very tasty, yet just a little less exciting than the shrimp. Total including two beers was 50k.

Best food on the island with very friendly guys! I ate here every day, so my summary: Delicious fresh food, every meal is cooked with love and typical local spices will be used for a unique African taste. I really recommend this place to enjoy traditional cuisine from Zanzibar and Tanzania.

Theres a reason this place gets such good ratings. Seemingly non-descript, this local beachfront restaurant was among the best I visited on Zanzibar. The fish was so fresh, they actually bought it from the fisherman after I ordered. The location couldnt be better and offers cooling shade even during the midday heat. Amazing!

We ordered an ocean prawn salad and a fish curry (tuna) and they were delicious. Definitely a place we would recommend in Matemwe! Thank Bruno and the chef for the close attention!

The Food was amazing. we ended up doing all our meals here for the duration of our stay. Worth every penny. Chef Sam is wonderful cook. Bruno has also been an amazing wait staff that always entertained us. I craved this food all through my travel in Zanzibar but didnt find one place that could replicate this food.

I’m staying at the hotel next door (Zanzibar Magic), and I decided to have a look at this place for dinner just now. The menu looked good and I had read all the good reviews but immediately I walked up to the menu board outside the guy was only interested in trying to sell me tours (to places I’ve already been). I’m not interested in a tour. I wanted to eat dinner there. So disappointing to constantly be pushed to buy things you don’t want at this beach. Why would I want to book a tour when I’m looking at the restaurant menu at 7.30pm?All the reviews sounded amazing so I’m not sure why the employee was so rude and pushy about the tours? I guess I won’t be trying your food now though.

The tastiest food in town, very fairly priced.After discovering this place thats the only restaurant in which we ate for our last 3 meals (before that we tried 3 of the best rated local restaurants in town).Delicious coconut curry (with fish, chicken or prawns), tasty peppered beef with homemade French fries, great penne with vegetables. Everything we tried was awesome.The chef and his team are extremely welcoming, super nice and full of little thoughtful attentions.The location is great as you eat directly on the beach, facing the ocean. At night theres no electricity so its candlelight / starlight dinner ! Perfect !As everything is homemade and prepared when you order it, food takes some time to be ready but its totally worth the wait. You can drop by earlier and order if you want your food to be ready when you arrive, or text the chef on WhatsApp.Couldnt recommend it enough ! Two thumbs up !!

Great restaurant! Very helpful owners! Visited by a company of 7 people during the entire vacation, in March 21st of the year. We tried all the menu and remember those gatherings with love and warmth. By the way, the owners - the chef and his wife made a surprise for us - a farewell dinner, with a fire and songs! Very light, sincere, kind, sympathetic people work in this incredible place!Thank you for the emotions and memories you have given us, we will definitely return to Zanzibar and will be happy to visit this restaurant by the ocean!The prices are pleasant, in contrast to the prices at the hotel and in Stonetown. Huge portions! I recommend from the bottom of my heart!

Small local restaurant between 2 resorts. They accepted us when it was quite late and they no longer had electricity and it was a very pleasant surprise: really top-notch welcome, very friendly premises and a much better cuisine than in the majority of hotels for much cheaper! The food was fresh and of good quality. Its a shame that there arent more tourists to take advantage of and appreciate this restaurant. We recommend this good address 200%, we will come back to it 👍

March-April 2021. Authentic family restaurant right on the ocean. Very tasty, beautiful, large portions, reasonable prices. Prepare for you. Any drinks. Juices / smoothies on request from the freshest fruits. Seafood from the morning catch to choose from, very inexpensive. Recommend.
