This cute and little local restaurant worth even a 10 stars. We had dinner last night and took the seafood platter (35000TSH per person) with prawns, calamari, cigale, and octopus. In addition we got a delicious curry sauce for the rice. Everything was fresh and so tasty. The staff was really nice and friendly. Definitely an address to remember and to stop by.

Had a really lovely lunch there. The guys working there are super friendly and genuine, the food was delicious and they even brought a free starter of chapati with an avocado dip.I will definitely go back there again while I’m here.

Simply the best local food we had on the whole island. Don‘t get scared away by the sandbag stairs or torchlight lighting. The food is great. We highly recommend the chapati roles or catch of the day or basically anything what’s on the menu. We tried probably most of it during our 4 days in Matemwe.

Amazing local experience, great food, two kinds of beer and chilled back service. The chef is the man! We tasted almost everything on the menu, the fish curry is amazing but the seafood is the reason why to visit. Penne is also surprisingly very good. Thank you, guys. P.S.: Dancing is allowed 💃🏼

The food is excellent! I ate here almost every day and each time I tried something different and were never let down. The service is also excellent. Everyone is super nice and helpful and cannot do better for you. Absolute 5 star!! Thank you for all the wonderful meals :) see just a few of their creations here.

We had lunch there yesterday. Since I try to keep my consumption of animal products to a minimum, I sometimes struggle to find anything other than a veggie curry. At Nakupenda it was no problem at all to get any dish fromthe menu just without the seafood/fish and for a typical veggie dish price.I had the green bananas and they were delicious!The staff was super nice and we can totally recommend going there.

Without a doubt best seafood we had in zanzibar. The octopus curry is out of this world. Dont worry about the looks of the place. Food has great qualitiy, staff is friendly, try it - you wont regret it.

We came here based on the good reviews but got really disappointed. We waited one hour for the food, which was cold when we got it, fish wasn’t cooked through, service was unfriendly. Can’t recommend to come here, there are better local restaurants

Amazing little local spot. A bit of a wait, but oh so worth it. The food was delicious. As good, if not better than many of the hotels around at one third the price. Simple menu, but everything is cook really well. The king fish, which was the catch of the day, was probably the best piece of fish we had during our whole stay on Zanzibar. Highly recommended

THIS PLACE IS A MUST WHEN IN MATEMWE!For the first sight- little restaurant at the beach, with few tables in a sand, Masai tablecloths and Zanzibar painted scarfs all around.For the first sight it could seem as ordinary restaurant but how surprised we were!The restaurant is owned by chef who lost his job in fancy hotel restaurant during Covid pandemic 😞. But luckily he hasn’t been in sadness very long and have started his new business with his friends and OMG!!! THIS IS A MUST TRY !THE BEST RESTAURANT we had been during our 3week stay in whole Tanzania.Fresh seafood, well spiced, amazingly prepared with fancy hint. We tried almost everything from the menu. He also have weekly specials for starters and sometimes also desserts- they’re not in menu, you just need to ask 🙂 And please DO! Because his custard crème with passion fruit was the best desert I have ever eaten abroad.We tried lobster with beetroot and passion, pasta with lobster, prawns curry, grilled octopus and tuna - everything very good and full of flavors and heavenly tasty.Yes everything sound as good as as pricey, but this was one of the places where they are not taking advantage of you just because you are tourist. They prices are very low as if they sell it to the local people. We were very surprised and we always left tip to the team, because, damn, they deserve it!Please if you can, go and support their business and I promise you will return again 🙂

We were there on 11/11/2021. To eat we had a starter (garlic charred prawns) and the main course Catch of the Day (= Tuna) and a Swahili dish (= pweza na wazi). The staff was lovely and the food was excellent. We had our table on the beach and our feet in the sand. We will be back ...

Tiny restaurant on the beach with 4 plastic tables that looks pretty cool and yet the food and hospitality are excellent. We tested octopus, squid and lobster pasta. Perfect. We will definitely be going back before our stay is over.

Good and even cheap food. I forgot my personal stuff at the restaurant. The goods were found and the owner of the restaurant offered to take me back to my accommodation back for free. I warmly recommend eating. It’s not worth letting the restaurant’s simplistic outer shell fool you.

After several days of looking for a local restaurant that was good and not overpriced, we finally found it.One of the few beach restaurants that is not a hotel.4 tables and a cabin for cooking, simple and effective dishes.Sit down and enjoy 😋!

There are few places to find delicious food in Zanzibar. We were impressed by this restaurant.The cuisine is delicious! The hosts are friendly. They are not trying to deceive you here! Recommend. Well, the interior is typical for a beach. In stone slabs, instead of steps, there are sandbags) But you will never forget this place)

We found this place by accident while going to another cafe, but did not regret stopping there to eat at all !!Very tasty! The dishes are great! We took shrimps with rice: shrimps are large, very Delicious. Lets come back again! Full delight! Very tasty and not expensive for the prices in hotel restaurants!

Were the other day. The wife ate fish. I - only pasta (T. K. I do not eat seafood). The wife was poisoned, spent half the night in an embrace with a white friend. I do not recommend it!
