Amazing local restaurant! Loved this place! The chef Chabu used to work in a 5* hotel - the food is superb. This is not fine dining so don’t expect that but it’s definitely an authentic local experience. You can buy fresh fish at the local market and they will prepare it for you or you can order anything (e.g. lobster) and they’ll catch it for you and prepare the next day. Don’t miss this place!

Don’t let first impressions put you off. If you are looking for an authentic local food experience this is the place to go. Senga and staff are always welcoming and ensure you will have great experience. They are always accommodating customer wishes. You will not taste better food in this area on the island. Everything is freshly prepared and taste fantastic. I highly recommend visiting this local treasure!

I visit Coco Green almost every day during my stay in Matemwe. It is a celebration every single time. The food is fantastic! People are absolutely wonderful! Always attentive always giving that little extra. Preparing any specialty I come up with. I absolutely love this place and dont even think of eating somewhere else.

This restaurant is very authentic and so tasty for a fair price. Although it’s not directly at the beach you have seaview because it’s built like a rooftop. We had a delicious vegetable curry with rice which was actually not on the menu, but no problem for them to organise and cook freshly. Super friendly service and just a fantastic experience!

We found this place by chance.. at first, not sure what to expect, its proper local, in a little village just of the Matemwe beach. The food though was exceptional, so good. We had some masala chicken, and red snapper fish, and it was one of the best food in Zanzibar😀 We waited a long time for it to be cooked, but that was because the guys made it fresh from scratch! 😃 So yummy! Highly recommended!😋👏🤜🤛🏿Senga- the owner is a cool guy who helped us getting a taxi back to Kiwengwa ...💙💜💚

A simple and relaxed restaurant, run by lovely locals. In addition to listening to very good reggae, they cook wonderfully well. The place is nice, the dishes are reasonably priced. We had a great time, we recommend!! 👏👏👏

It couldnt be more authentic: 100m behind the beach in a small village, a cozy shed made of palm leaves and raw branches, cozy low tables and benches made of branches, rope and cushions. Good food at reasonable prices (in relation to the hotel). Every now and then a bony cow runs by and of course there are always cute children of all ages from the village

The Coco Green Swahili looks rather inconspicuous from the outside. But dont let that fool you, because the food is really, really delicious. The curry was perfectly seasoned and the portion was more than adequate.At the same time you sit really comfortably and listen to local music while the kids dance outside. Very nice atmosphere!Mr. Coco is a very friendly man who also tried to talk to us directly. It was nice to exchange ideas about the different cultures and countries!Definitely try it out !! :)
