We had an amazing holiday at Mermaids cove beach resort and spa in Zanzibar Island during December 2021We were very well looked after by Mr Manoj and his team.Everything went very well, it was exactly the kind of experience we were looking for, quiet, no noise, not a lot of tourists (comparing to nearby places).The holiday itself was way beyond our expectations, because there were so few other tourists around.We had enormous fun, the children had a blast and everything was private.The location on the beach is stunning with a lovely beach front, a peace of mind atmosphere.The beautiful beach, almost empty, and the water is warm, it felt like a private beach. A very good place to relax and chill.We could listen to the sweet noice of waves rolling to the shore. Where you can hear a bird sing from farThe rooms very nice and spacious and all of the staff is friendly, polite, attentive and helpful. Management and staff helped us out with a lot of things during our stay. There is a resident tour operator, who couldnt do enough for you. The trips he organised were brilliant.The sea, with all its possible shades of blue, the taste and smell of the food, the “hakuna matata” greeting, the local Masai, the colors of the clothes, gym equipment, snooker table, the spa etc all this combined is the heart of Zanzibar. Palms provide a pleasant shade for the loungers.All inclusive is a basic, breakfast, lunch, dinner and certain drinks.The resort is located on beachfront.At Mermaids Cove Beach Resort & Spa you can enjoy diving, snorkeling and massages.They even offered to take us to the Friday Jumuah prayers.

The rooms were awful oh my days. On the second day of our stay the toilet wasnt flashing anymore, the shower stopped working and dont get me started on the fans that were completely useless. The staff was friendly which was nice but the rooms and the wifi was atrocious! The rooms were so dark and the floor design was just weird. The food was weird, the bread was always stale and the rice made me sick. Dont eat the pastry if youre ever so unlucky to come here. Im not saying this is the worst hotel but theyre better places to spend your money at.

Slowest wifi on the island and bad coverage. Buffet was OK but some of the waiters/staff were a little rude and a little slow, sometimes we would be finished with our food before our drinks came. Pool was very dirty, couldnt even see the bottom of the pool.

A very relaxing beach , beautiful turquoise sea, pleasant sea breeze, coconut palm trees and Tamarind trees; a polite Indian GM called Manoj

The food was disappointingThe rooms were very dull and old, and I always had a problem with the shower or toilet, there was no phone in the room so I had to walk all the way to talk about a clogged up shower !!!!

Theres two things that make Mermaids Cove more delightful than most other Beach Resorts:The staff and the location/lay-out.The staff is friendly, polite, attentive and helpful. Management and staff helped us out with a lot of things during our stay.The resort is right next to the quiet beach with most bungalows facing the sea. Palms provide a pleasant shade for the loungers. Although I think that the resort was fully booked during our stay, it always felt tranquil thanks to the layout of the resort.You simply wont regret staying at Mermaids Cove.

Honestly being married to such an amazing person I have been to many MANY MANY hotels on the past few years this one was a disaster.. the worst experience and the worst stay EVER for the price point one would expect it to be systematic... Our entire stay there the food was SUPER salty almost impossible to eat.. if u didnt have blood pressure problems before this would be enough to trigger it.. the rooms dont even have phones which was SOOOO inconvenient when one would need to enquire about anything you would have to go all the way to the reception which was super annoying. The bathrooms had NO shower gels... NO shampoo nothing except for this tiny round soap that doesnt even lather.. the rooms only had 2 tiny water bottles equivalent to 2 glasses of water...at the pool we had to find someone to ask them for pool towels...dont even start about the so called water heaters coz the one in our room didnt work until 1 hour before we had to leave...when we were leaving we were told of these hidden charges that were not specified before 🤬😡 what made it even worse was how it was raining and NO and I mean NO staff member even helped us put our bags in the car would NEVER waste time or money there AGAIN. Would never recommend this place to anybody under ANY circumstances u are better off vacationing at homeThis place deserves no star at all the only reason y I gave it even one star was so that I can write this honest review based on my first time visit and experience there so that people do not waste their time and money... Zanzibar is beautiful there are tonnes of places that you can go to

Stunning, clean, accommodation. VERY friendly staff. Amazing meals (some new dishes). Gorgeous beach. Not as crowded as many of the resorts that we walked past (up the beach). Just up the beach, close to Uroa village we found Massai shops with the most amazing clothing and gifts (less than half the price of Stone Town).

What made me fall in love with this hotel is the way the staff are. They take care of everything without expecting or asking for anything in return. The rooms are quite spacious with AC fitted. Food is also great.The fact that the beach is just right infront of the bungalows and its clean made my vacation memorable.Will definitely be coming back.

Very Serene, calm and peaceful resort with nice and comfortable rooms, well maintained swimming pool right in front of white sand beach and a restaurant offering variety of cuisine, fresh baked pizzas. Two bars one by the restaurant and other by the pool have numerous cocktails and mocktails to be served. Staff are extra friendly and co-operative. The beach has spectacular sunrises. All together its a beautiful break away destination for spending memorable holidays.

If you looking for peace and tranquillity, a great beach and fabulous service, book this. Visited in low season when resort was extremely empty. Book all inclusive. Resort set in garden on the beach front. Pool is great for low tide as sea pulls far back. Food was good and portions huge. Enjoyed the entertainment provided one evening. Accommodation has good air conditioning and a fan. Please take malaria medication before visiting Zanzibar. Some maintenance required eg electric wiring, painting, mow lawn. For excursions you can book various, at the bar. Excellent value for money.

Beautiful resort situated in a bay. Fascinating to witness the tides waning and ebbing. At low tide the locals farm seaweed. Advisable to take water shoes for the urchins especially at low tide when one can walk far out on the ocean bed. Loved the friendliness of the staff and the Spa therapist. The food was always tasty and plentiful. A truly memorable stay.

Food was terrible and over priced for its quality. The aircon leaked and dripped water all the time and wet my bad and books.The food is terrible. Rather eat at another hotel or another restaurant on the beach. Its much cheaper and the food is of a higher standard. When we stayed here we had the breakfast and dinner buffet included. It was not a buffet at all, there were about 2 or 3 options and you had to be extremely early to get anything. They would only serve enough of the nicer foods for a few people, so it would be gone within the first 5-10 minutes of the buffet opening. They never restock food. If you arrived 30min into the buffet starting then there would be almost no food left.Rather spend a bit more and stay at uroa bay Beach resort on the same beach as mermaids cove.The beach itself is amazing. There are no real waves and the water is perfect. Would definitely recommend watching the sunrise.The hotel staff were very friendly. There were stray cats on the beach and the staff have no problem if you let the cats follow you to your room.The coffee/tea bar in my room was never refilled. They do not restock anything in this hotel.They took my bathroom towels to be washed and failed to place new ones in my room. When I asked for a replacement they said I would have to wait until the next day.

The resort is beautiful. Absolutely clean. Regularly been cleaned daily. Staff most friendly and willing to help or assist all the time. Perfect location on the beach and enough trees for sheltering from the scorching sun.

The resort was neat. But the food was below average. There wasnt much entertainment and the management wasnt helpful. We were also disgusted with the way the lobster was served. When we complained to management, we were told thats how they serve it. Uncleaned lobster head shell was placed on top of the curry for decoration. The black Gung was pouring out of the shell into the curry. Poisonous.

Decent place. Wld rate it a 3 star. Pool was big not sparkling clean. Rooms are basic. Mattres sloping. Air con works..The food was good. The staff also friendly..The beach has whitish fine grain sand. The reef is about 1km away. The water is not so colourful as further north in Paje or Further north.

Hotel mermaid, zanzibar, tanzania is nice especially the service. Hatam is one person there, he is very nice first we thought he is a waiter but was actually accountant. He is very helpful person .

The place as such is really nice, beautiful beach and surroundings.The food is good, ample breakfast buffet and a la carte lunch. Also dinner buffet which is good.The staff (most of them) are willing to help.The rooms are okay.The big issue is that if you dont choose the all inclusive option you are royally screwed. One local beer is 8000 TZS, which is four times the local price.Make sure that you read the rules regarding all inclusive before going here.

Mermaids Cove understands hospitality and will help with any request. We stayed at a few other locations on the island, and this was the most relaxing of them all. The food was great and the people friendly. We had an early morning departure, and the kitchen staff was kind enough to make us a meal the night before to-go. If I could visit Zanzibar all over again, this would be the place Id stay.

Great place for a day trip, the beach is nice.The hotel itself is low cost so you get what you pay for. The water from the taps is sea water so all the bathroom fittings are worn out.

Beautiful resort, great potential to be 5star hotel. The structures need a little more taking care of. But the service and the staff are world class!!!! Kitchen not up to standard but meets basic needs. Wonderful location!!!

Excellent service provided - amazing food, friendly staff who are extremely hospitable and helpful all around! I was impressed by the kitchen staff who went above and beyond when it came to meals, especially lunch and dinner, and put in extra effort over Easter.The masseuse, Kadek, is amazing too (I recommend the Balinese massage by her). The beach is private - perfect for a low key relaxing holiday (think crystal blue water, palm trees, sun lounges and hammocks... ahhh); however, if you want to stay busy there are plenty day trips to do (I recommend Safari Blue, the sunset cruise and swimming with dolphins). The WiFi didn’t work in our rooms but that was okay for us, in fact, probably a good thing. The rooms were simple but had what you need (not sure about a hairdryer though?). It isn’t 4-Star by city standards if that’s what you’re expecting, but for this island you get what you pay for and is definitely a 4-Star by these standards (total value for money).The other pictures online don’t do it justice (I had my reservations before coming) so I have added my own pics too 🌴

A very warm reception and the staff are very friendly. Its right on the beach and you can actually swim here as compared to others in the Chwaka bay area. The Spa is also a must whilst here, and you can arrange tours from the hotel.

Located at an isolated part of the island at the quiet end of an East Coast beach. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Very limited access to food stores and alternative eating places. Hotel accommodation a little tardy, mattress hard and lumpy, food was expensive and poor in selection and quality. Jelly fish on beach. I got stung and the staff seemed a little lost on how to deal with it. Water supplied to rooms was a pitiful amount. Need cash to pay for things. Nearest ATM in Stone town. Problems if running out of cash. Cost USD50 to get to Stone town or anywhere. Next tome would consider staying in Stone town. Not so dependent on Hotel for things.

Most obliging & accommodating gentlemen indeed. Mermaids Cove itself is on the beach with the most serene & picturesque atmosphere. Highly recommended for a quick getaway, however the menu needs to improve.

Best resort for short stay. Clean huts just 5 steps away from white sandy beach, mesmerising view of the sun rise & sun set is unforgettable. Friendly staff and overall best hotel to match the budget. I would like to thank hotel manager manoj for organising night entertainment by local acrobats. Surely in mind for a second visit.

The place its right in front of one of the best beaches of Zanzibar! Uroa is just amazing! The restaurant offers very good food and drinks with very good prices!! Very good option to stay in mermaids cove beach resort & spa.

I think food and rooms are very basic and can be improved immensely. Beach is nice and quiet. Relatively less crowded than Nungwe (Zanzibar North). So for relaxing on a quiet clean beach go to east cost and for party and activities or to meetup new people go to Nungwe beach.

Very cozy place, wide beach with a lot of free and wide space to relax. Very frendly staff, nice food. Some equipment needs renovation, for exmple sunbeds. But otherwise I like it.

Lovely place but the prices are screwed, cheaper to take a double and single room with all inclusive than a triple room.Also we were told different by each staff/menus and refused to use all inclusive our last day (before we checked out)

Lovely, unpretentious little resort on the ocean side of Zanzibar island (uroa). On the inland side of chawaka bay.Comfortable, dimple, clean furnishings. Excellent food, lovely, friendly staff.

Staff and management are excellent. ROOMS COMFORTABLE AND CLEAN. THE ONLY THING THAT CAN BE IMPROVED IS THE BREAKFAST MENU. IT TENDS TO BE REPETITIVE AND THE SAME. OTHERWISE OUR STAY WAS SUPERB

Good hotel for beach and reluxy

Having stayed in 5 locations on Zanzibar island, this was the most relaxing and peaceful with a very friendly manager (Manoj), frequently checking everything was ok.
