I stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms are cozy, comfortable and modern. Staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful.This is by far the best food I’ve eaten in Zanzibar. Food is delicious!Rooftop bar is beautiful.Upendo house definitely care about their guests and it shows in everything they do.

Did not stay at the hotel, but we had a good time on the rooftop with live music. We had a great time with the amazing view, good music and friendly staff. We decided afterwards to eat in the restaurant. It was the best surprise of our stay. Well thought dishes, perfectly cooked and fresh ingredients. We did not expect this high quality dinner. Definitively a must eat place if you stay a couple of nights In Zanzibar.

If you climb up the stairs to the upper floor then you have a beautiful view over stone town and the port. The music from the lifeband was stunning and helped to dive in to a good vibe with cocktails and cold drinks. The infinity pool rounds this feeling up to a special place in the middle of stone town

Stayed here for 4 nights. Great Stylish place and perfect location. But the superstar here is the Chef…Hands down the best food we had in stone town was at The 5th!!!Incredible twist to dishes cooked to perfection.Have the Octopus and chickpea salad and the Calamari with Bacon… not traditional dishes but amazing taste!

This review is for the bar:Nice atmosphere, good music. Coctails were too expensive and of small quantity. You can see the rooftops which are same height as the top of the restaurant, however not a good place for the sunset. The staff forbid us from taking pictures with a photocamera and did not allow us to fly a drone. Overall, would not recommend

Highlight of my short stay in stone town. If u can navigate your way up the stairway u will come accross an intimate rooftop lounge/deck with an infinity pool and cocktail bar..space is limited so get there early. Drinks are nice but pricey..vast selection of wines and cocktails available to satisfy most palates. Should be on your to do list if spending time in stone town.

Now that was one heck of a surprise. In the middle of stonetown is this oasis of quietness and chill. There is a small infinity pool on the roof with a couple of lazy seats (lounge places). You can order snacks and cocktails as well as create some yourself. The restaurant is even a bigger surprise. I can safely say it has an outstanding chef and staff. Food is awesome and made with care and top ingredients.We spend a day there just relaxing and enjoying Unguja Stonetown and feelin at home. Definitely a go to place!

Really great find in the heart of stone town. The rooftop pool and bar is an Oasis from the chaotic streets. Rooms were modern and clean. The staff is also wonderful from the lady at front desk, to George the bartender and the owner Varun. They were very helpful during our stay. We went during our honeymoon and they also prepared a delicious cake. Overall, would highly recommend this hotel if youre in stone town.

Stayed here for 1 night before flying to Arusha and wouldnt hesitate to stay again next time Im in Zanzibar. The hotel is beautiful and quaint, the staff extremely lovely, and the rooftop a real stunner. Pro tip: if youre staying at the hotel, stake out one of the 5 beds by the pool before 5pm, when the roof opens up to non-guests. Grab a cocktail and watch the sun set over the port, its got to be one of the best views in stonetown.Krishna, the GM, was incredibly helpful in arranging anything we needed and the room itself (while certainly small) felt modern and similar to boutique hotels Ive stayed at in Europe and Mexico. Will certainly be back!

Did not stay at the hotel. But at the rooftop bar was underwhelming. No drone and DSL are allowed. Cocktails are mediocre and overpriced. The view for the sunset wasnt good either.

Upendo House in Stone Town is the place to stay. We were greeted warmly by Ibada and Varun on our first day. The hotel rooms are spacious, great air conditioning and there is a balcony in your room overlooking the city. the bed was super comfy and clean. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Stone Town was out last stop before flying home and the staff was incredibly helpful when it came to finding out where to get tested. Our results were delayed and Varun provided extra support. In addition, Upendo has a really tasty breakfast brunch in the mornings. Lastly, they have a pool and bar on the top floor with amazing views of the city. On Thursday night, they had a DJ playing by the pool. Unreal hotel and great vibe. Highly recommend!

We stumbled across this place while we were looking for a place to escape from the sun and enjoy some lunch. Service is friendly, food was fantastic. It was the tastiest pasta Ive had in a very long time. Rooftop pool is nice, but can do with some more shade. Enjoyed a relaxing afternoon sitting next to the pool after enjoying lunch. Really a lovely spot with beautiful rooftop and harbour views.

Always a great place for foodie and enjoy the Stone town ambiance. Belive or not, I ate all the dessert menu.. and if I had space, I would order the second round 😅

This venue was utterly magnificent!The food fusions were phenomenal - I have never tasted such amazing flavors.The cocktail mixes were also out of this world.The upstairs pool area was top class, overlooking Stonetown in a glass pool during the heat of the day was spectacular.I give the venue a solid 5 stars

Really nice vibe, great rooftop bar and pool, good food, very tasty and eclectic drinks. The only reason we’re giving it four stars was that they were playing really trashy house/electro music and it kind of killed the atmosphere of the place. Afro beats, East African musicians, something else... anything else!

Lets start with the amazing roof-top swimming pool & bar.Lets continue with the really nice breakfast offer.The room is nicely decorated & shower has great water pressure.Great coconut scent shampoo/soap.Tea/coffee machine in the room.The staff is friendly.For the improvements :- Dont take the rooms adjacent to the stairs. Can be noisy at night by loud people going up & down. Room doors need to be more soundproof- if you have a luggage, there is no luggage rack. You put it on the floor- A/C is placed right in front of bed. You get freezing air right on your face.- No room in the bathroom to put any toiletries (really no room!). Same with soap/shampoo dispenser, they are next to lavatories so when in shower, it is not convenient and they are glassbittles so afraid to break them if you put on floor.- No TV (but are you on Zanzibar to watch TV?)

Upendo House was recommended by a local, we had to find the place and see for ourselves.. Amazing all around!! A hidden gem, Amazing food, amazing cocktails, great staff, well worth the visit. We are deffinately staying here next time!!

This hotel has an amazing rooftop restaurant selling great mediterranean foods. I visited here three times during my visit in Stonetown for a week. They are selling the greatest burger in town. Truffle fries were also best. They have a great view. You can overview the whole picture of Stonetown.I strongly recommend this restaurant.

A really great surprise in the center of Stone Town!We passed by and found this brand new place, so we decided to stop for a quick lunch.The Indian cuisine is really good made by Indian chef, and the place is nice, quite, with a really nice view on the sea and prison Island.The roof top bar with swimming pool is a great idea, unfortunately we werent prepared, maybe next time!However a really nice discover that would be a pleasure to visit again and suggests to our friends!

An amazing place with beautiful views over Stone Town and the harbour area. The cocktails were great and the meal was even better, some of the best food weve had in Zanzibar. The servers were great as well, very attentive and friendly with the chef even coming out to ask how the meal was. We will definitely be back to enjoy more! Nice place. They offer free wi-fi but insist you make an order first before they give you access. Staff is courteous though.If youre a Nigerian, please stay away from the yoghurt rice. Its definitely not for you😄

Stayed for three nights there. Accomodation was good with air condition. Roof top with the swimming pool is great and thé breakfast excellent.

We just went for drinks.I tried a virgin pina colada, it was a good mocktail (the pineapple taste was stronger than the coconut one).The staff was friendly and the rooftop has a nice view !You can pay by cash or card. The prices were above average but not expensive.

We wanted to test the roof top of this hotel for a drink at the end of the day, big disappointment. We were refused access until it was 5:00 p.m. (it was 4:45 p.m. ... so we had to consume something first on the floor below), after trying to order something to drink at 3 times because there was a lot missing on the menu, we sat on the tiny roof top and wanted to use the pool, but that was also forbidden if we were not from the hotel. On top of that, the waiter was very rude. So its not a good experience. Too bad we changed rooftop.

We went to Upendo beach, as soon as we got to Zanzibar in July. We were greeted very warmly by Jeff who made our stay wonderful. Then we went to Upendo House, where Mahul looked after us perfectly and looked after us throughout our stay. The rooms are very beautiful and well decorated with all the necessary comforts, and the rooftop swimming pool gives us a view and makes us relax admirably after a long day of sightseeing.Thank you to all the Upendos teams for making our stay unforgettableMohamed and sonia

A mall in infirmity.Almost only cell phone shops and accessories open. Many shops closed, many not rented.3rd floor, some good restaurants and free WiFi, so you like to stay longer.
