We passed by this place while walking on the beach and it caught our eye simply because it looked like a clean well established place with high standards. And so it was and our expectations were exceeded because of one man, our waiter Muddy. He was just incredible, best service I had in Africa so far! He is just so energetic, fun and takes good care of you and really giving you the best experience. Our Seafood was excellent like the entire experience so we came back the following day again for some Burgers. Best in Tanzania by far and again just phenomenal service from Muddy! He’s a great man and we wish him all the best!

2021. Great Restaurant with a nice vibe right by the Beach. They often have live music playing. The sea food and local dishes are the best. They have happy hour until 7pm for all alcoholic beverages and cocktails. Just make sure to check your bill. We went there over ten times and the bill was wrong over half of the time. Thanks to Fred for always sorting everything out. Food was no good 2022 😏

We spent two weeks in Paje, but don’t miss this restaurant. They have very delicious, tasty food. One night we even asked for a fish dinner for 10 people. We couldnt eat it, it was so plentiful.The staff is very kind, helpful, special thanks to Charming who helped us a lot.

We had a nice candle-lit table overlooking the sea, lively music in the bar area and very friendly service. Good size portions for the price, my seafood pasta was delicious! Would definitely recommend.

We came there during cocktail Happy Hour, 12,000 TZS for two cocktails was a pretty good deal. We were served quite quickly and decided to stay for dinner. We ordered the mango avocado salad with shrimp on top. Unfortunately, it only came with only TWO prawns for an additional 8,000 TZS, which is quite ridiculous in my opinion. Nevertheless the salad and chips were good and I’d go there again, just wouldn’t order the prawns on top again as it’s not worth the money. Wouldn’t say service was exceptionally good, but it was ok.

Ocean Rest restaurant is a decent mid-priced outdoor restaurant in Paje with Free WiFi, snacks and dinner menu, and Happy Hour cocktails. However, make sure to check what food you get, they might rip you off.We enjoyed the quality of cocktails, which were a good deal in Happy Hour (2 for 1). However, we were quite disappointed by the mango and avocado salad with prawns. We paid ~4USD on top for 2 grilled prawns on the salad. This felt a lot like a rip-off. Thus only three stars.

Fast and pleasany service, great portions, BUT when the boss is there he will not let them play african music as I understood, even when we as guests asked for it several times... I mean they do live local music... If they play aftican music when there is no live I wish to change this review to a 5star

The food here is super delicious!!! We had dinner here 3 times and we tried the sesame tuna, octopus masala & fish masala. All of them were super tasty, big portions and the sauses were so good that we asked for the reciept and guess what - the chef personally came to explain how to prepare it and gave us the ingredients! Definetely recommend it!

I came to Ocean with a group of friends for lunch. The view is beautiful. Our server, while friendly, was incredibly slow. We had to ask for things (like drinks and small plates) multiple times. We waited for our food for a few hours. I watched as other groups came in, sat down, were served immediately, finished their lunches, paid and left while I still waited for my drinks and appetizers. My seafood tasted off, like it had gone bad, and I didn’t eat half the appetizers.There are too many other places in this area, go elsewhere!

Excellent service, the most delicious piña coladas, with a beautiful view. Multiple seating and lounging options. Only tried the curry dish, which did not disappoint. The location is also ideal; seems to be in center of action on paje beach. I stayed at Ebb and Flow, so this was a convenient stop.

I have been going to this lovely restaurant for the last 2 months and the food is always of a really good standard. The staff are very welcoming and very kind and polite, they make it feel like any request is no problem. There is always a good vibe there and I really like some of the events they have in the evenings with good live music on Friday and good bucket pong games on Wednesday. Overall an amazing place.

Beachfront restaurant with fresh food, both surf and turf. They serve only what they have and will tell you when somethings off the menu for the night. Very pleasant atmosphere and incredibly welcoming staff that is happy to make you feel at home. Simple but warm atmosphere. Definitely recommended!Food is very good and fresh. Fish soup and beef curry were excellent, we came back for more on several occasions.Waitress Selina was just brilliant! We visited three times and had superb and friendly service from Selina every time. On one occasion we wanted to try fresh coconut water out of the shell and she went on the beach and bought it for us from the local guy who was passing by with coconuts. Amazing!

We ended up here due to a change of plans but we were so happy we did. Dont be fooled by their bar at the beach - the restaurant is right behind it. The staff was so kind and helpful and had a really good sense of when we needed help and when we just wanted peace and quiet. It was a bit pricey compared to other places but the food was great and they were generous with the size of the dishes. So nice :-) We were able to pay by card and the staff helped us arrange a taxi back home both nights we were there. And there is free wifi!

Get invited for happy hour, order 3different drinks, then second round of them just to find out they are not included in happy hour? Why waiter cant tell whats included from the beginning?Starter comes after main course? I thought word starter means it is for a start.

Had lunch there. Had to go to the bar to order as no waitering staff took notice.The food was good though and the portion size average. Once our meals were brought to us, the service became more attentive.

Terrible food. Not fresh at all and badly prepared. Plastic plates and cups!!!! Very expensive. Super long waiting time. 30 mins for the bottle of water and almost 1 hour for food. Very noisy music. We asked for the internet password 4 times and every time we were told they will bring it. Two waiters told us that one can pay with the card, and in the we couldnt. Very disappointing place. For a drink I guess its ok if you dont mind very loud music while enjoying peaceful Zanzibar.

Beautiful setting for a cocktail at sunset, although you cant see any sunset from the east coast! Little more flexibility in the happy hour setup would help getting more clients - I understand the buy 2 get the 3rd drink free but at least they could be different drinks at the same price!

This should be a very good restaurant. We went for dinner and disappointed. The first course papaia and chicken salad. Was testless. Almost no chicken in it. The 2 main course we had the beef and the fish were to salty with plain rice. We had same level of food when we were camping in the kilimanjaro. And also the price was more expensive than all other places around here

Had seared tuna twice at this place, food was good, but they tried to cheat including more expensive positions in the bill so the impression about this restaurant was screwed up.

Happy hour is from 4pm to 7pm and you can buy two identical drinks for the price of one.Delicious and strong drinks, I recommend the ocean drink and Zanzibar drink delicious, especially the second one. However, I do not recommend Freddies fireball, it was very spicy because with peppers and pepper and it tasted average.I recommend the crab balls that came with two sauces and a salad, they were very delicious :)Very nice and smiling staff. I highly recommend ☺️❤️

We spent several days at Paje and had dinner here every day (Ocean was recommended by our hotel staff). The prices are average, the portions are large and the food delicious. In the evening there are quite a lot of visitors, mainly young people. Once we went to lunch in a village cafe, were surprised that the price there is the same as on the beach, only the portions are smaller and not tasty.

Superb cocktail bar overlooking the airport and the only bar on the island where we have our cocktails in less than 5 minutes!
