We booked a 2 story, 2 bedroom villa for our family of 4 (2 adult kids and parents). This is a beautiful facility and our villa did not disappoint. There was a private pool for our villa (in addition to a main pool) and both floors of the villa had hammocks and outside seating, as well as lovely amenities. The dining & living area was in a different building although we ate at the restaurants and at a poolside dinner (the meals were all included). The beach is a short 10 minute walk. Our private butler experience was definitely worth it - the bathtub was in a secluded, shaded spot outside the villa and the butler drew a bath for our daughter - complete with rose petals strewn on the walkway and on the surface of the bath. The butler also brought water bottles in the middle of the night when my daughter was feeling dehydrated. We got manicures and a massage here - very relaxing. I would love to return here soon!

We spent 10 nights at White sand villas and our experience couldnt have been better. Starting from the location of the hotel, which is in one of the most beautiful beaches of the island, followed by the professional and friendly service and the amazing gastronomy.I especially recommend the beach restaurant, serving fresh sea food for lunch!The villas are beautiful, and very private. Including a private pool, and a butler attentive to all our questions and needs.I was also very positively surprised of the good wifi connection, even at the beach! I work remotely, and was able to make video calls from the villas and different spots at the hotel with beautiful view and birds chirping in the background.

Very good cuisine and quality of service. Genuinely friendly staff. Although it is not the level of Amann resort or One&Only, the place is very cosy. The presidential villa has a washing machine and a fridge. The beach is clean and perfect for a 20k morning run.

This hotel is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in many great hotels. The service here is out of this world. Every room is assigned their own butler who answers any and all questions and does absolutely everything that you need. Because your butler gets to know you, you end up getting the best possible service. Our butler, Joseph, was fantastic! He really did make our stay very relaxing and fun. It was great that we could communicate through WhatApp and I would get an immediate response to anything we wanted to know or needed. But I must also say that Edna at the reception was also a big help when I needed all sorts of tourist information, to rent a car and other things. Absolutely fantastic is the General Manager of the hotel, Maite. When we arrived at the hotel she greeted us and showed us to our rooms while informing us about the hotels various goodies. Maite was always around making sure that all the guests were happy. It was a real pleasure meeting and conversing with her and I also greatly appreciate her advice.The territory of the hotel is absolutely beautiful. The hotel grows many of its own plants and so the entire hotel is in a beautiful garden. Some monkeys even live in the trees. We lived in a Cinnamon villa which had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room, a front yard and a wonderful backyard with our own jacuzzi! Our villa was very comfortable, clean and everything worked well. Tea, coffee and water were provided daily for our fancy coffee maker and water kettle. By the way, the hotel filters its own water for washing and drinking purposes which means that there are no worries about getting sick from the water.The food in the restaurant is fantastic! It really is super tasty and certainly deserves 5 stars. I have no doubt that it is the best restaurant in Zanzibar. The servers were all great and I am especially grateful to Khamis who provided us with fantastic service and always greeted us with a smile and laughed at my silly jokes.The swimming pool is very nice, clean and among the beautiful garden. The sea and beach are also beautiful and a short walk from anywhere in the hotel.When we first met Joseph, our butler, the first thing he said was Welcome to the best hotel in the world! At first I smiled and thought it was a nice marketing stunt, but it didnt take long for me to realise that he was probably right!Congratulations to Maite, and her wonderful staff, for creating the best hotel in the world! We cant wait to come back!

Amazing resort located in the beautiful Paje beach. The rooms are modern, spacious, comfortable and clean. You feel welcomed the minute you walk into this property, thee are great amenities, the food is super tasty and well presented. You can have a super relaxing stay or if you want to mingle with the locals you can take a short beach walk north towards Paje and you’ll find lots of local restaurants and bars. The reception stay Edna, Aida (assistant Manger) and Maitê (manager). helped us tremendously figuring out or required PCR test in order to transit through Kenya, we would be so lost without their help and we are so grateful for them.The only thing that could be improved is the service from food and beverage, we found it to be very slow.

Every single aspect of White Sand is immaculate. The staff are wonderful, happy and thoughtful, and it all comes across as completely genuine.The villas are infinitely more luxurious and spacious than they look in the photos.They are finished immaculately and have such incredible touches that make it so special (beautiful wooden furniture, locally made, colourful robes and plenty of others). The pools in the villas are really quite substantial and it is so nice having the option to eat in the restaurant, in your dining room, on the sun deck, on your roof terrace or in the beach restaurant.The food is fantastic, the beach is regularly cleaned.The spa is amazing and treatments very relaxing and professionally carried out.

Weve stayed there for a week with friends, and its been truly an unforgettable experience. The villa we stayed at was a luxury beyond borders - huge space with private pool, rooftop bed with a sea view, own butler, and lots of lots of space. Everything looked and felt so natural and ecological - everything is made form wood and stone, and smells amazing! I loved loved loved it, and wanna come back!!!

Beautiful hotel with excellent service. Attention to detail from the small touches in the room to refined and discrete service. Located at a prime spot on the beach: not too far from cafes, kitesurfing schools, and more yet far enough to enjoy some calm. Swimming is also good when tide is high.

We stayed in the two bedroom villas. Beautiful architecture, it feels very private and romantic even though the hedge fence is rather sparse and airy, and the people are amazingly friendly. It was one of the most memorable resorts I have ever been to, and Ive been to quite a few. And the rates, during the off-season, are amazingly reasonable.

So Ive written a fair number of reviews, but I have to say that Im looking forward to this one the most. Thats because we found our visit to White Sand a most agreeable experience, and one were looking forward to repeating if circumstances allow.The staff immediately distinguished themselves by quietly and competently helping out during check-in, when we realised that we had left our passports in the main safe at the hotel we had just departed from in Stonetown. Luckily we had some photocopies so we could check in that afternoon, but just before dinner there was a soft tapping on our villa door from our butler who handed us our passports with a big smile. It turns out the White Sand manager knew the folks at the previous hotel, and since she had a driver in Stonetown she just made the necessary arrangements to get our passports back to us. I couldnt help thinking of the concierge network swinging into action from The Grand Budapest Hotel; it just all happened quickly and magically, and relieved us of a source of worry for the rest of our visit.The villa itself was quite large and well appointed, and although you could have probably fit a sofa and armchair in there along with the bed, those furnishings were over in the shared living room space. There was also an additional outdoor bathing area we could use if we so chose (complete with clove-scented bath salts). The shared private pool was just right for a quick dip to escape the heat.We found the staff extremely friendly and helpful; they always seemed to be keeping an eye out for anything a guest needed, and generally just appeared at the right moment. One gent jumped off his bicycle and parked it to take my bag from me as I rolled it to reception at the end of our visit.They were also quite hospitable. While they couldnt offer us a late checkout as our villa was booked the next day, they did offer us to remain and use any of the facilities until it was time for our afternoon flight. However, when they came to collect our bags at checkout time, they didnt take us to the front desk and put our bags in a locker, they instead led us to another, larger villa that had a free room that they let us use until we were ready to depart. They knew they were surprising us based on the broad grins they flashed when my wife asked um, whats happening here? as we walked away from rather than toward reception.There were lots of smaller moments like the good food and drinks, the surprise anniversary cake they made for us, the spa visit, the staff scrambling to cover us with a large umbrella during an evening rain, or the troop of red monkeys who scampered along the restaurant railing after munching on leaves from the trees overhead, that all went to making the visit something that were keen to repeat.

I didnt stay here but used most of the facilities such as their paddle boarding centre, beach bar and lunch.The lunch was THE best meal Ive had in Zanzibar, freshly caught bbqd king prawns served on the beach.The service from the staff was especially outstanding especially from John who gifted a complimentary coconut and fantastic drinks made by Hamza.

The biggest mistake in my hotel story. Read this review carefully before you will book!!! Racist!!!!I have booked this property for 4 nights and than moved to Tulia resort . First of all this hotel in my opinion is having fake reviews. I know that they have been inviting quest from Italy and giving prices like 100usd per night just to have good reviews. So first of all there is a lot of good things in this hotel but for sure it doesnt deserve to be a top luxury hotel on Zanzibar ! Rooms are not so spacious as it seems on the photos , there is no garden in my opinion ... just few palms around the swimming pools. Food on the breakfast is weak quality !The area is also very spoiled ... if you want a romantic atmosphere and peace and common this is not a place for you . There are a lot of mistakes done by the resort service, also food is very disappointing , the range of alcohol is very small . The worst thing is how they treat locals - horrible racists!!!! There is no one like a concierge to speak about the problems . For sure its not a property with a standard of Relais & Chateaux..

I have been to many beaches around the world but this one is by far the best i have come across as the sand is so fine its literary like white flour. The beach is quite quiet with secluded loungers not to mention the bar to quench your thirst.This boutique hotel has some of the finest polite staff as well compared to the big brands. We went to celebrate my wifes 60th birthday and they made sure we will remember it for a long time to come.The rooms were large and comfy and we had a upper balcony room which was huge.Sometimes the Red and Black monkeys are feasting in the trees or passing by which adds to the excitement.Overall we had a very good time here with the food, accomodation, staff, weather and the beach. The only variation would be the weather :) I know the owners are always looking to improvise to an already perfect setup.

The spa is so peaceful, tucked away in lush gardens. The Zanzibar Spice massage was a real treat, made my skin so soft. And the prices are reasonable, $90 for 1 hour. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Probably the best resort in Zanzibar, the villas are exceptional and so is the service. The beach is easily accessible from the villas and, depending on the tides, you can even walk in the sea for hundreds of meters before the water reaches your knees.

I have been travelling around Africa with my family and I can say that both the staff and the management have reached the highest level possible. The villas (we stayed in beach front villa) are a Gem in the middle of that paradise, the food delicious with personal conversations with the executive chef. Butler service (Joseph was our) and Hamza with his cocktails are TOP. It is a must in everyones life.

I used the spa and the esthetician was obviously highly trained and did a great job. Beautiful location and grounds.

Our stay in Zanzibar was our first time to sub-Saharan Africa and we couldnt have asked for more than staying at White Sand. All the teams are extremely attentive and helpful. The daily care and service is of high quality and the staff members are contagiously cheerful, which made for the most relaxing holiday possible. We recommend this little corner of paradise with our eyes closed.

The hotel is nothing special. If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, this is definitely out of your choice. Most villages are shared with people I have never seen in my life. I was on the second floor, I mean, I felt like an intruder if I used the pool on the first floor. The staff is friendly. The accommodation has no charm at all. I was perplexed to be a Relais Chateaux. Beach service practically non-existent. The bar works only with a person who is not always present. It really needs a makeover in all aspects. Service, accommodation and gastronomy. Everything is very weak.

Family trip November 2019What did you like?The hotel is characterized as a botique hotel with a warm modern designand welcoming, both in the rooms and in the common areas, everythingnestled in a beautiful and well-kept tropical garden.The location is excellent: in a piece of white beach, aturquoise sea and with few structures around.What didnt you like?From inhabited traveler to high level structures, while remainingoverall satisfied with our visit, there are many things thatcan be improved.First, the staff, although very kind and always smiling,he is poorly prepared. There have often been misunderstandings, orderswrong and a general slowness.We were also disappointed with the cuisine, which is not up to parrest of the structure, in all main meals. The buffet of themorning is small and with little variety: for a structure like thiscost and level an a la carte breakfast would be better. Even thelunch is very expensive (35 $ for a main dish andsalads) for what it offers. The dinner set menu included in thehalf board changes daily, but the ingredients are similar and thequality of the dishes is not excellent. Also, we waited one evening1h30m after the order to be able to eat with very few customers (10!).Last point, the gym is practically non-existent and visiblypoorly maintained (old tools, light weight) and the fact that it isoutdoors it is impractical for insects and heat.

A simply heavenly place: charm, elegance, tranquility, refinement, sympathy. Everything was perfect during our week. Possibly one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed in.

Perfect stay, superb villas, attentive staff ...

A perfect welcome directly from the general manager of the hotel, a very kind person and good advice. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, attentive, smiling, and do everything to make you as comfortable as possible. We had 2 different rooms during our stay (due to availability and it was our choice to stay longer), they were beautiful, spacious, perfectly equipped (huge cascading shower and naturally lit), kimono available , sarongs offered, fresh water constantly available, the bed made and mosquito net set up every evening with water on the bedside tables. Upon arrival in our room, for our Honeymoon package, a delicious fruit basket, a bottle of sparkling wine, and a welcome drink with succulent hibiscus were offered to us. Our favorites: outdoor bathroom and shared hot pool (shared 2 bedroom villa). Exterior level, the garden is simply magnificent, calm, clean and maintained, in contact with birds and monkeys, which the hotel takes care of and ensures their tranquility. The private beach has deckchairs and single beds for peace and privacy. The sand is white, fine, and very clean (no waste), and even at low tide, walking along the water is pleasant, and the view is splendid, with seaweed crops and crab hunters. The hotel provides free stand up paddles, kayaks and bicycles. the central swimming pool of the hotel and calm, pleasant, and a perfect place for the buffets organized by the staff. The restaurant is very nicely decorated. Served on the terrace, the buffet breakfast is generous and very good (favorites: passion fruit, Florentine egg, and fresh fruit juice), the made-to-measure coffees are delicious, the pastries and breads are good. for dinner, also served on the terrace, the candles lit, the decoration of tables, and the service of the staff makes the moment very pleasant, the meals are very good, we looked forward to discovering the menu and eating there every day . Half-board offers starter, main course, dessert and fresh still water, with 3 different choices each day (including a vegetarian and gluten-free choice). We were lucky with the honeymoon pack to benefit from a free one hour massage per person which was magical, in the quiet and very pretty spa. We were also able to benefit from a free romantic meal on the beach for us, as well as on special request, candles and flower petals around and in the outdoor bath of our villa (beautiful!). We did 2 excursions with the hotel (Kuza cave and Snorkeling / the rock restaurant), which were very well organized. Activities are organized by the hotel free of charge (cooking class with a maximum of 6 people where we learned to cook octopus with the Chef! Yoga classes, cocktail on the beach).Here are a few caveats that had no impact on our overall appreciation of our stay, because it was wonderful:- We were sometimes waiting for a response from the staff without having received one or after a reminder.- the romantic meal on the beach did not go perfectly (no one was there when we arrived, the table was not ready, candles out, too much wind on the beach in the evening and we would have preferred you to advise to make the meal on the terrace of our room, and only one person to take care of the meal so long service and a little cold meal) but table and place nicely decorated all the same (thank you Manguu for the management and the service) .- Midday meals are too expensive! Half-Pizza 2 ingredients at $ 21 (cheapest choice) and barbecue on the beach at $ 35 / pers. ! Which is a shame because the restaurant is deserted and we ate outside the hotel for $ 15 max for two.- Cooking class 1h30 lateThank you to the whole team for our magical honeymoon!

We spent a week at this absolutely beautiful hotel. The hotel is on the seafront, very quiet and completely disorientates you with its tropical garden where wild animals and tropical fruits are one. The facilities are impeccable, the service impeccable and above all we thank all the staff of White for the exceptional hospitality they showed during our stay and especially our butler John and Ellisha who are of exemplary professionalism, always with a smile wonderful and they have been to the little care for us. The staff responds and solves the least of your desires or the least question.Our stay was really fabulous and thats partly thanks to this hotel and the member of the team.I recommend this establishment 1000 times.Thanks a million its a 5/5 well deserved.Allison and Romuald

It is a hotel with independent villas on the edge of the beach, it has a bar where you can enjoy delicious cocktails made by Hamza and Faston; You can book water activities. The whole hotel is very well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they always have a smile on their faces like Juma the restaurant supervisor, Pendo, Yassin and Innocent. It is a place to disconnect from our life of stress that we lead.One of the surprises was to find the director and the assistant director at some Spanish women.It has a high quality cuisine, fused with the flavors of the area. The villas are fabulous as you can see in the photos you have a butler to help you all day, Thomas was exceptional, also John and Joseph. Margaret and Mangu prepared a wonderful outdoor bathroom with relaxing bath salts!Thank you very much to all the staff for the great treatment received.
