Great place right on the beach!!! We’ve enjoyed 2 breakfasts here with great food and drinks (we had the Yogurt heaven, the breakfast wrap and the American pancakes, the yellow, double espresso and capuccino, all of them delicious). Also, the vanilla cake and the chocolate cake were delicious and the cookies looked amazing!!!

This place is beautiful. The atmosphere is super cosy, with a nice view on the sea and the staff is really friendly and helpful! They really want to make you feel like at home. The food is delicious! We had a celery&pumpkin soup, a chicken wrap which was rich with salads (and pineapple for example), and sweet potato gnocchi in a wonderful tomato and pesto sauce. The only reason for 4 stars is the waiting time. 1hr and 15 minutes. We were prepared to wait but still it is something that ruins the whole experience a bit. They were nice about it, even gave us complimentary water on the house and came by a couple of times to say sorry and check on us.The drinks come fast though, so at least you can do something while you wait :)

Great location and very relaxed atmosphere. The food I ordered was excellent, but unfortunately we arrived at a very busy time, and placing the order took 20minutes and then we had to wait 1hr20 before the food came. I guess in true Pole Pole style. If you are somehow on a schedule then perhaps not the best choice.

Had this recommended to us by a friend, she also walked us there from the beach - a great place, really enjoyed it. A decent bar, the food is tasty and portions generous. You grab a menu inside, choose, then go and pay - again, inside - and sit down with a special order number token, theyll come by later with food looking for you. The place was super busy, but we didnt wait long - all in all, a really good experience, can wholeheartedly recommend.

The location looks pretty nice and is just by the beach. We had a couple of dipping and falafel starters which were delicious. For the main course, we wanted to try the coconut coated chicken but, after a rather long period of waiting, got coated shrimps instead which were OK. I got the impression that the restaurant was a little bit short staffed, which caused the long waiting times and wrong dishes.

Lovely waterfront restaurant offering fresh and homemade food. They offer outstanding coffee and both breakfast and dinner were great. Liked their unique design and lights at night which create such a relaxing and chilled vibes. No alcohol served but their drink menu is extensive: freshly made juices, smoothies - we loved everything we tried, especially their special twist on menu items like catch of the day and their pies. Oh, and their granola yoghurt cup is a must try!

One of the best restaurants on Paje Beach. Fresh and delicious food. On a non windy day it is beautiful to sit outside. Food often takes over an hour which is normal for Zanzibar. You need to order inside. Several daily specials, good coffee and free fast internet. Not many seats inside with digital nomads working. They accept credit cards with an extra charge.

We stayed in a fairly fancy room with its own deck above the kite surfing shop- fantastic view of the expansive white sand beach at Paje. It’s a metal spiral stair case to access the room so it’s not accessible for those with mobility concerns. The room is well appointed, beautiful bed, with bathroom behind it including a shower. There are two bunk beds behind the main bedroom/ living room/ kitchen (fridge and sink only) front area. The set up is good for a family. The breakfast service was a little ‘hit or miss’- we’d asked for the option to have it delivered to the private covered deck area for the duration of our stay but several times staff forgot about us. It was poor communication between staff shifts I think. When the food did arrive as requested it is was amazing! In fact, the mr Kahawa cafe next door (literally 10 meters away) has great food, amazing fresh smoothies ) and fantastic coffee drinks. The views from the room’s deck are amazing and the daily kite surfing provides full entertainment in the afternoons when the winds pick up. It was rainy season so it rained a fair bit- there was a portion of the deck that was covered but because vines had grown underneath the corrugated plastic roof it allowed the rain to come into the covered area defeating the whole purpose and resulting in soggy cushions. Attention to details like this and the standing breakfast order seemed lacking. Cleaning staff were attentive and friendly and never missed a day of ordering the room and setting up the mosquito net for the evening. Paje is beautiful and your are literally only steps away from the beach . There is a pool directly behind this room as well . This is a busy kite surfing spot with a younger crowd but the vibe is very chill. Our nights were undisturbed and peaceful. The beach is wonderful to walk along and there are several restaurants nearby as well as a dive shop that organizes excursions. Is busy and you are often approached by those offering various services for hire but they are not terribly aggressive. Most are very ‘hakuna matata’ about life on the beach .

I really have to say that I am very disappointed about our visit in this Restaurant.I got the wrong dish twice in a row (One was already the exchange court). Of course this can happen but unfortunately, they didn’t really cared. I had to ask several times what went wrong with the order - Their answer was simply “we’re running out of it, we don’t have!” But why didn’t they tell before?Actually I ordered beef with homemade honey, mustard sauce & beetroot. What I got was any kind of meat, rice, pesto and zucchini.. not a single part of the meal was as ordered. Guess what? I wouldn’t mind if they’ve asked me before but that was quite outrageous. In exchange they offered me another meal so I ordered Lentil Masala with Chapati bread. What I got was Chickpea Curry, missing bread…The crowning glory came at the end. The waitress came and ONLY named the price without bringing a bill at all. Skeptically, I also requested the bill, which then took 15 more minutes - how could she name the price and suddenly there was no bill? Here was one of the dishes listed, I was not ready to pay and still had to explain myself for it. I am really dissatisfied with this visit and really cannot recommend it.

The winner here is the setting under a big tree by the beach. The quality of food and drinks have been deteriorating over time, and the attention to detail and quality is not their prime assets anymore. In an overall limited climate in terms of quality and value for money Mr Kahava does stand out in Paje as a decent place where there are no other options. Expect your orders to be quite over-priced for what you get though.

I am in love with this place since 2019.. when I discover it 1st time. It’s magic. It has this great energy that drawn people together and everyone gets to know everyone once you are there for more than a day..Maybe is the wonderful tree , the Iconic view of Paje Kite spot .. or is the family vibe you notice among the staff… or maybe is the owner’s heart or all the Masai’s blessing.. but is a place that will stay in your heart. The staff are so polite and happy.. They will teach you swahili while you wait for your coffee, they will make you laugh with a sweet compliment that will make your food taste even better and the day even more shinyThey’re manager Sharida always have the biggest smile for everyone(her coleagues and the customers)I work in customer service since 20 years and is impressive to achieve such performance when it comes to hospitality and teamwork. Bravo!I came as a customer and after almost 2 months, I left as a friend…planing already in my mind my next kite escape and all addicted to this place vibe.

Nice restaurant at the beach. Reasonable prices, good (not first class, but good) quality, friendly staff. Perfect for a drink or a snack. I would go elsewhere (Oxygen e. g.) for fine dining. There is one thing in Zanzibar, I will never understand: the ratio between different prices for cheap or small things on one hand and big or expensive things. How can a full meal with fresh fish have the same price like a simple salad?? Anyway, pricing in total is o. k.What I like: the exchange rate for USD an EUR is fixed and shown in the menu. So no lottery like in other bars.We had alcohol, so oppposite to other comments: yes, you can order alcohol.

Nice location on the beach, as most of the restaurants in Paje. Service was quick, but they mixed up our order. We got a different dip and side dish. We had the seafood platter for one, but it was enough for two. The lobster and the octopus were delicious. The fish and the calamari a bit too dry. They dont serve alcohol. If you want some, you need to go next door. They are ok with this approach. They even provide a glass 😄 all in all, it was an ok experience. I would come back for the octopus.

We had nice lunch at Mr Kahawa restaurant. We ordered grilled octopus and prawns. I asked for couscous instead of rice. It would be nice if they had mention that there are nuts and dates inside couscous especially for people who has allergies. I am also not a big fan of nuts inside my meal. They juices are really good but it takes ages to get one. Service is really veryyy slow and you need to ask if they really remember your order. The evening before we came for tea and juices and we waited for half an hour to get our order and we got it only after we asked twice. The atmosphere is cosy but it can be a bit annoying if someone is smoking next to you.

Maybe a variety of chef works here.We ordered prawns with sweet potato and a starter of calamari platter-The chicken wrap (chapati) was very poor not a nice combinations of flavours compared to the calamari, quinoa and salads here. The place has beautiful ambianceThe staff are so friendly. The ice teas are lovely!10,000 for a juice is very expensive though! Food is lovely and absolutely up my alley, but the begging dogs are really a problem (I had FOUR at my feet today!), and it really would have been nice to enjoy a cold glass of wine or beer with my delicious food. Vanilla cake looks way better than it tastes and brownies were sadly a bit dry. People also allowed to smoke anywhere with wild abandon which can ruin an amazing meal and totally goes against the wholesome food vibe. Vendors are allowed to bug you while you eat. After ordering at the bar (no service outside-house rule) youll take drinks from the window and number for the food, service will bring it to you.Food was delicious, service was nice, we paid around 48000tzs (chicken and pineapple wrap, avocado chicken salad and fried calamari with aioli). Probably is managed by people from europe, everything was clear- you had all information you need to order, to pay in tzs, dollars or euros, etc.. firstly wd didnt know you should order at the bar, then we realized (theyve got it written on tables, but not on that one we sat first time) and follow the rules :) I would return to Mr. Kahawa when Ill be near, fair price, good food.
