The place is called SERENE Beach Resort, however, it is anything but that:The next hotel hosts loud parties every night (at least when I was there), the hotel itself blasts unnecessary loud music all day long and the pool is open to the public, increasing noise levels further.Additionally, during my stay, there was heavy construction in the hotel. The hotel is right at the beach together with many other hotels, however there is no effort being undertaken to clean up the beach, therefore half the beach is seaweed...Besides that: the rooms are quite spacious with balcony or patio. While there is no fridge, you can give your to-be-chilled stuff to the staff. The shower works, but has very low pressure and hot water is not always a give (usually ok given the heat). There is wifi, but it does not reach all the places. The Breakfast is quite good with a large and changing selection. The restaurant serves a wide variety of food and drinks, but at a very relaxed pace (tell them to bring each dish, as soon as it is cooked, or the meal that takes the least time to prepare will be cold by the time you get everything). The hotel itself is quite pretty, but rather far from the city (30 to 60m, depending on traffic)
I stayed for 2 days and Im still here it a nice and private place. would love to come back. Next week
It decent a place the restaurant has a lovely aesthetic other than that rooms are not as bad, but environment needs work...love the plants though 😀😊😎
The service in general leaves a lot to be desired. All questions were either incredibly long (from 2 hours), or simply were not resolved without explanation.
They have a time limit in their pool 6pm maximu while just next door at Jangwani Sea Breeze have till mid night swimming.
The hotel ws nice but the place to be is Mbudya
Pros- Amazing quiet place. Great getaway. Beautiful beach. Very Decent rooms. Really unexpectedly great food and very friendly ppl. Bathroom also clean, and spacious if u take the Seaview on 2nd floor.Cons-The doors of room need to be redone. The bathroom door also was heavy.Need of amenities like pool table, and some games. Also a coffee bar would be great. Our Seaview was blocked by a huge tree but thats ok.*As per the pic. Mr. Anderson setup our anniversary surprise. Did a really good job.Thank u Serene for the great service
Very good services on regards to boat rides.
Its good beach with good view of ocean and with boat to mbudya island
Not really to my expectation. They need to do touch ups to get this place to what it was on my first visit
If you up for MBUDYA island trip serene beach resort got your back definently.
I wouldnt recommend. The price and the place dont agree.
COVID-19 has hit hotels pretty hard, so this rating should be taken with that in mind. The place is located next to the ocean, and so I recommend sea view rooms which are pretty affordable for even middle class folks. It tends to get noisy during the day because of the loud music meant for beach goers and pool users who arent staying over (I didnt get a chance to swim in the pool or the ocean, but the water looked inviting), but its somewhat tolerable once you get accommodated. The occasional extra noise on weekend nights comes from neighboring areas so theres that.Staff are brilliant. Theyll help you wherever and whenever. Breakfast is great and so is the accompanying view and serenity. Perhaps if the noise were dealt with somehow, Id give an extra star.Rooms are good but in need of some routine upkeep (Covid-19 related austerity I suspect) but the housekeeping and room services are top notch. The lunch and dinner menus are somewhat of a letdown, but it is passable.Overall, the place can be better and has great potential (recall my note at the beginning), but it is perfect as a stopover to other adventures in Dar and beyond, such as their charter service to a nearby island.
Its a very nice plce
Had a very nice dinner with friends..
Visit the place and enjoy with your lover
A very nice oceanic view
Gud traveling boat to an inland and nice food
A beach resort with vast space and delicious meal
Anna is so so Helpful she actually goes out of her way and thinks she is out the box. Professional and has a passion for what she does
The new bar is awesome
A good and clean beach for chilling
I had been here actually for a drink and lunch. Its really quite place to spend some time by the beach. Usually the bar is not crowded at all. When it comes to noon time or evening until 17 hours theres no crowd. Its crowded during football match lol.. You cant even get a table or lay your foot out there lol. Other then that its really a quite place worth every penny spent. This is situated in the road. Roads are pretty amazing here parking is not a problem. Rooms are amazing too
This Hotel can forgetLook for anser. LandmarkOr JanwaniSerena Beach all brokenNot frendlyBreakfast... Ohh my gottI wond change room upstairsNot doStaff frendlyNot. All
Good location for a ocean view, but services is poor, the waitress need more training i guess
Wonderful rooms with good service and an excellent bar & restaurant! Could do more about cleaning up the beach a bit and staff need a bit more training, get a professional manager and will attract more clients. If you have to rent out the restaurant for other functions, set some restrictions as they were way too loud!
Nice and chilling place in town
The hotel is nice - beautiful views out to the ocean. Theres a decent pool, the beach was clean, food was nice and OK value. However, in the evenings it is definitely not serene. The hotel next door has a club which plays music so loud my room was shaking, and can be heard all over the site. I was there over a weekend - I had to leave on the Saturday evening as it was unbearably loud. The Friday was loud, but manageable in a room on the opposite side of the hotel.Potentially good if you want somewhere to dance in the evening, but definitely not for a relaxing break.
The room quality varies significantly here because some rooms are in old building, dilapidated in serious need for repairs. One need to be careful when booking a room here. Young staff but they need to be trained customer service. Next time I visit this place I will do a boat ride to Mbudya Island.
Rats at the reception, rats at the bar and seeing rats enter the kitchen. Clear excrements of rats in the bedroom. Staff and management know about this. A receptionist brushed it away by saying ‘it’s just a rat’.Extremely poor breakfast. They add water to the milk of the cereals. One day breakfast closed at 9am instead of 10am. Cereals that were there on the first day, were not there anymore on the second or third day. According to staff they ran out of supplies. Dry bread was an issue too. They have no executive suits with hot tubs, you pay for it, it is advertised, they assured me by mail I would get it, but in the end its not there. Only the cheaper rooms without a sea view have them. We tried the bath in a simple room as management wanted to provide us with a solution, but the boiler can’t produce enough hot water to fill a bath. We were told there is one executive suit with a hot tub and that we would get it for our third night, that promise was not fulfilled, we got nothing. Not a single day the swimming pool opened at 8.30am, always around 10am.I shared all grievances with management, but finally this hotel can simply not produce what it promises. The location is nice, but the standards toward customer care are extremely low. With the issues they have with rats, hygiene must be a dangerous issue.I demanded a 50% reduction on the room rate because we paid for something we didn’t get and promises were not kept. The answer of the manager was clear: “nothing we do can make up for the problems you had”, he apologised but was only willing to give a 30% cut. Clearly money is the drive, not the guest. I felt they stole from us.
We enjoyed having lunch with our family here by the sea. The service was fast, our waitress was friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. Our food (1/2 grilled chicken and a family platter of BBQ meats with ugali and salads) was delicious and not too expensive. The only drawback was the uncleaned beach front. We tried to go for a walk vut it was covered in trash. Please clean it up so customers can enjoy it.
Its a nice place for stays and also offer daily trips to mbudya island at an affordable prices....
Really enjoyed the stay at the resort. The quality is good especially for the prices proposed. The rooms, though the facility is ageing, are very well maintained. The staff is very courteous, maybe as expected in Tanzania. I only took breakfast during my stay, and it was not disappointing. Just watch out for the scavenger crows trying to share your meal 😄 !The location is superb. The hotel is located right at the beach 😎 , in a serene affluent neighborhood, not so far from a shopping centre where one can get anything, from bars, to movie shops, boutiques, ice cream parlour ... the list is endless. One can easily get around via Bajaji (tuktuks) which cost about 1.50$ to get the shopping centre. It is an affordable outlet with good quality for holidaygoers. No hidden charges involved and there is a lot of flexibility. The hotel neighbours other classy hotels and two public beaches, but disturbance is on the minimal. On the downside, some of the reception staff were not as kind as others. Secondly on Saturdays the hotel opens to the public so facilities such as the bar and swimming pool are very strained. Thirdly, the neighbouring club plays pretty loud music in Saturday so sleeping is not easy; it might be easier to just pop over the fence and join the party.Lastly, during the rainy season the rivers flowing into the ocean (there are about 4 of them in Mbezi) bring with them all the ills of urbanisation; plastic, metal, leather and any other trash the storm drains may have collected in town. This makes the beach a no-go zone. Very sad for those who come here chasing the sun, sand and waves. This is no fault of the hotel, but something to consider when booking. Also the hotel would have done a better job in cleaning up the beach right in front of them; the other hotels are doing it and the beach boys do it for the public beach.
It could be a good hotel Mbezi BeachBut i book a room for me and one my friend a man like me but they didnt give us our Room ( i booked a Suite) because we are two men ......so in this hotel if You are two men or two girls You have to book two single rooms but they dont have them so for two friends men or two girls You have to book two double rooms for two persons ??So it is not a good hotel .......This is not good.
I like this place, they have welcoming have nice food. The rooms are so clean.
Just nice
Worst Beach hotel ever, If I am allowed to say 1. The mattresses are of extremely poor quality,, The towels and pillow covers were once white, now they sort of are off-white leaning towards brown, owners or directors need to invest more in quality, otherwise the good PR of the manager and the reservation manager is wasted.2. Swimming pool is filthy,3.Attendants are not attentive, busy talking to themselves as you can see from the photos,4.power went out, they had to go look for someone to put on the generator it took 30 minutes, generator was on for barely 20 minutes then off again, nothing even water could work in that time5. The breakfast offered had only bread, sweet potatoes, donuts soaked in oil, eggs, they didnt have sausages, hey offered some weird chipolatas or something like that, that my mouth rejected on the first bite, no much of a choice offered, for 61$ in Daresalam, this place aint worth it, there are other establishments that are better by far for that price. The only thing good is the sea view from the balcony , The fish was well done and freshh, cudos to the chef almost forgot I booked on Booking. Com 2 rooms for two nights, I called the hotel to advise them of my late arrival, the manager offered an upgrade from the deluxe room since they were full to a sea view room at an additional reduced fee of course.NB In summary, The Manager and Reservations Manager have good PR, the attendants / restaurant staff should be retrained to know why they are there in the first place, the facility has potential to be a good place, but as it is Nooooooooo.
A nice place for retreat
