Really beautiful place in the center, walking distance from almost everything! I loved the breakfast that comes included in the price and the hospitality of the receptionist! The only thing is the wifi does not work in the 3rd floor and the hotwater does not work in the bathroom as weel.

Good location (closer to the center), very safe at night.Friendly and very helpful staffs. There were always check that we did not need anything. It was very nice of them and it made me feel more comfortable.Cleanliness is fine but room could be refresh as they looks a little bit outdated.Food was very good, we spent a lot of time on the rooftop (breakfast, having snacks and drinks late afternoon) and we were never disappointed.I will recommend this place for sure.thank you to all the staff for the amazing experience I had at your property.

Beautiful hotel in the middle of Stone Town! Very good location. Rooms were kept clean and comfortable, beds came with mosquito netting. The restaurant up top offered great food with good service and the accompanying view was breathtaking! Also let us keep our luggage there while after we checked out and were busy during the day doing activities. Thanks for the great stay!

Tausi Palace is reasonable and conveniently located budget hotel. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Close to most famous landmarks. Easy to find from Shangani street. The hotel has a rooftop restaurant for breakfast with good views of Old Town. Enjoyed my stay while I was there.

Very quiet. They have good food but not breakfast. They MUST review their breakfast menu. The beds are overly high n the mattresses are somewhat not of very good quality.Invest in the pillows too.Very good employees who are very helpful and can communicate well in English.

The most disgusting hotel for the price. This place is filthy. The rooms stink to the point you gag every time you walk in. I killed 8 bugs in the time I walked into the bathroom. The sheets are filthy (as pictured below). And because the shower was in such a bad state we couldn’t even take a shower. I would recommend never staying here.It’s really sad because the place could be beautiful but it’s obvious no one has taken time to look after the maintenance of the place.

A nice place in the heart of Stone town. Very lovely view from the rooftop restaurant and the food is delightful.Not the best bathroom but you have electricity and hot water all day. The staff is lovely and always ready to help you. There is a everyday cleaning.

I’ve been waiting to write this review. This place pretty much screwed over my husband and I on our honeymoon. We were only to stay a few nights, and we had a confirmed booking through Air Bnb in August. We arrived in September, only to be told they would not honor our reservation, and that if we would like to pay more, we could have a room. (What?) When we asked to speak to the management, the receptionist called the “manager” again, who conveniently was not available in person, and gave us some story- ending with that we would have to pay more than the original reservation.Our impression? Lousy customer service- just out to make money! BOOK elsewhere, unless management has changed.

Excellent location, rooms are simple but large with mosquito-net four-poster beds and some nice curved furniture. Rooftop breakfast terrace is lovely :) very clean very friendly, I booked a spice tour from downstairs and it was successful

Tausi Palace Hotel is a nice place in Stone Town near the sea and Freddie Mercurys house. The staff is nice and the rooms are cleaned every day, they also have nets against insects around the bed. Food in the hotel restaurant is great! It is protected by police and you can save your belongings into a safe deposit box. The only problem is that you can not let any fresh air inside because as you open the window, lizards start to visit your room.

I had a series of just unfortunate incidents back to back and the hotel staff was amazing through everything, doing their best to accommodate me. The whole time with a smile. The service is amazing here. They have wonderful staff.Also, great location, nice rooms, great rooftop. And Wi-Fi!

Called the place to book a room and got comfirmation from recepitinist. few weeks afterwards they say no such booking exists. Now have to find a new place. Who answers the damn phone of your hotel? Just anyone passing?

Everything about the stay was warm, homely and excellent. Jane, Rose, Abobaker, the cleaning staff and the breakfast staff were very adequate and consistent. One often reminisce about the destination and never mentioned the people that make it enjoyable. Not to mention Fatma and Adnaan the tourist company who went above and beyond to satisfy our very reasonable expectations. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who cares about the basic human touch. Loved everything about my visit to Stone Town Zanzibar

Its ok, considering that most of the hotels here has the same standard.I like the staff mostly they were very helpful and polite so friendly. I dont recommend staying there. Because of noise from neighbourhood and the level of cleanless its way below my expectations. But they do have a beautiful roof view.

On my second stay here, the hospitality was abysmal. No manager or assistant manager on hand to handle guest concerns or complaints. There was NO WATER in our room for several hours in the evening and then again the next morning, NO WATER for hygiene or showers. And no bottled or other water was offered. We checked out showerless. Other guests mentioned they had experienced several days with no water. Nobody with authority was present to address this or offer any compensation. I was asked to fill out a complaint form but it has been 3 days and there has been NO follow up whatsoever. WILL NOT STAY HERE AGAIN.

There is lots of competition for mid range hotels and the Tausi is well worth a look. There is no pool and no balconies, but if the price is right, then its an excellent option. Very friendly staff make you really feel at home. The rooms are large and have all the correct Zanzibari furniture and the beds are very comfortable. The building is a superb Zanzibari house that really feels the part. Happy hour beers in the courtyard bar are a treat. Food upstairs does the job without being outstanding but breakfast is great with changes day to day. The view from the rooftop restaurant is fabulous. So, choose the Tausi for a super friendly hotel very centrally located.

For Tanzanian standard, very good hotel and lot of buts.Rooms are big, and clean. Windows are covered with staind glass, looks interesting but little dark.Rooftop restaurant, cool view, but food could be better.Beds look great but they are to tall so normal height people cant touch ground with foot while sitting on the bed.

You can view sunrise, sunset and moon rise here! I give it one less star because it misses a proper bar. But if youre a beer drinker... Youre set!

Rooms need some major improvements - bathroom smelt putrid and made me gag every time I walked in, the rest of the room smelt like mould. The bathroom had no shower curtain so water sprayed everywhere onto the floor. Taps had a layer of limescale on them it probably had more germs on the tap than my unwashed hands.Bedsheets were questionable as there were some small stains.No Wi-Fi in the rooms. Only redeeming factor is that it has a nice rooftop bar where we sat to avoid our mouldy room.

We booked this hotel through Airbnb. We arrived and were told that they cancelled our booking and that we would have to pay an additional $60 for 2 nights. The manager (who was not there) told the receptionist that they had no access to the airbnb account and so would not honor the booking. However, someone confirmed our reservation when we initially booked. We used the lobby wifi to book another hotel. A disappointing start to our Zanzibar honeymoon.

It s a nice place. Breakfast should be served at 7am, but really they it is ready maybe 7:20. Just to consider when making timely plans.

The first room we were given literally had no door lock and the AC was broken. The bathroom in the 2nd room that we got moved to has broken fixtures (tap moves, shower head holder moves, the tub was previously cracked and now patched.the hotel restaurant is super slow. quality is hit or miss (biriyani is good, masala and noodles are not).location of hotel is decent, near center of stone town.WiFi is included but maddeningly slow.clean.overall: serviceable given the price.

Rooms werent too bad. They need to renovate some of their rooms and bathrooms. Good customer service. Breakfast wasnt bad either. Close to most sight seeing places.

I didn’t stay here but the guys working helped me tremendously without any expectation.I had booked a hotel on Expedia that didn’t exist. Adam (sells tours) walked around most of stone town to ask everyone if they knew the hotel. Jameel (reservations manager) told me to have Expedia call him if they couldn’t find a hotel to rebook me in. It was NYE and everything was sold out. Expedia went out of network to rebook me.They welcomed me to sit in their hotel for over 2 hours while I sorted out my problem with Expedia. They are extremely welcoming and will help you if problems arise, even if you’re not a guest in the hotel.They even followed up in WhatsApp to make sure I was ok the next day.

We stayed at Tausi (=beauty) Palace Hotel for 9 nights. This tucked away gem in the middle of Stonetown gave us the true experience of 1001 Arabian nights in Zanzibar. Staff (Jane, Abu Baker and Rose and more) were extremely accomodating. There personal touch gave the hospitality an extra dimension. The touring agent represented by Fatma and Adnaan were very informative. Their personal touch and knowledge added great value to the trips arranged. We spent all mornings and all late evenings at the roofed roof terrace, enjoying the 180° ocean views and 180 stone town views. We will definately come back when the boys are a bit older.

We stayed here for a night. There was no water fir 3 hours from 5 to 8pm and again in the morning when we needed to shower etc no manager was available as it was a Sunday. Nothing was taken off the bill, no compensation was offered and attitude was like, so what?? Awful!!!!

Well maintained hotel, however wished the WiFi infrastructure as well as the entrance to the hotel was better maintained.

Simple hotel, in the middle of the old part. However, the hotel could use a makeover...when we were there, the dining room was taken care of, and we were allowed to have breakfast at another hotel, which was well arranged. Nice people behind the counter.

The hotel is excellent, the rooms are gorgeous, the staff is generally high, I have never met better and more friendly. The rooms have safes and air conditioning, as well as an electric kettle and tea and coffee. Rooms are cleaned every day. Breakfasts are not bad, like a buffet, a view from the dining room to the ocean and the city.

Quite a great hotel for little money. The bed is large, the mattress is soft, the location is excellent. Conder runs a fan too.There are problems with breakfasts, the breakfasts are weak, but to be honest I dont want to eat the same thing at these breakfasts, I go to local restaurants and eat inexpensively what I want to eat myself. I recommend. Clean good hotel. Not a top five of course, but an honest 3 star hotel.

Pros:1. The staff is polite. 2. Help with currency exchange 2300 shillings for $ 1. This is the normal course. 3. Appearance. Beautiful carved wood in the corridors and rooms, in some places marble tiles in the bathroom. The view is not at all European, but it seemed to me exotic. 4. Minimum amenities are met: air conditioning, many outlets, safe (if there are problems with the safe in the room, you can ask at the reception), cleaning and treatment of the room from mosquitoes, replacing bottled water, personal hygiene products every day. Minuses. 1. English sockets, as elsewhere in Zanzibar. 2. Breakfasts are not top. You can eat, but there are no delicacies.

Terrible attitude towards tourists. Bought a tour with check-in at this hotel. In fact, they are settled in a neighboring guest house, and not in a 3-star hotel. In the guest house, all days of the tour turn off the light and water. The heat in the room is unbearable, and there is no internet either. Water is supplied from a pump, but there is no light, then there will be no water either. They refuse to check into the booked hotel with the words that there are no places. Coral travel, sanmar, guide and everyone else ignore us and do not help in any way to resolve the issue. The tausi hotel and guest house have one owner. We ask you to provide a certificate stating that you did not stay at the Tausi hotel, we are sent to the guide, to the agent, etc. Nobody cares about you, they will stand and smile, but do nothing. Stamp vacation, paid for a 3-star hotel, but spent it in some kind of creepy guest house.

All tourists who buy vouchers .. do not get fooled by the cheapness of the tour .. you buy a ticket from coraltravel sanmar or anekstur to this hotel - you know, you will be deceived and placed in a neighboring guest house, saying that there are no places here .. in. The guest house has no electricity or water during the day, the operator does not respond to inquiries, the travel agent makes a helpless gesture .. we have been living like this for 11 days. They do not give us any information that we were not settled., The guide does not want to do anything ... In general, they will just leave you to the mercy of fate and thats it ... 6 families arrived like that ... they settled only one in this hotel, the rest were sent to neighboring mrusi house
