Awesome hotel directly at the long Matemwe Beach with lots of palm trees. Authentic, sustainable and the team is super nice and helpful. The food is very delicious, it is a la carte with a small buffet at breakfast (bread, home-made jams, coffee, tea, juice), everything else is made freshly upon order.The view from the restaurant is amazing, the premises and rooms very clean and nice. The beach is nice too, just be prepared that there are a lot of seaweed and urchins but the hotel provides approbate shoes.

READ all bad comments before you book they are all true. The place is located on a nice beach, but it ends there. Overpriced and misleading presentation of what is offered. They have 3 rooms advertised as “Superior suit Ocean front” which cannot be called rooms as usually a room has 4 walls, doors and windows. These rooms do not have those elements. They are dangerous to people as instead of windows on the doors they have cover blinds with a lot of open spaces, instead of full walls you get an exotic stick to stick wall again with hundreds open spaces. Besides a lot of wind from the sea you also get all kinds of animals inside these bungalows, and this is dangerous in Africa. If i wanted a to feel as if am sleeping on the beach I would take a bungalow or a tent for 40-50 usd. This place is dangerous and with all their arrogance they are telling me that the net around the bed will protect us, well guess what happens to this net when all the wind comes in constantly. We had a mosquito inside the bed, a few ants and spiders. The worst of all booking.com EU based company allows them to mislead the customers with false presentations of their facilities. On that i will deal with the right authorities in EU, as we all have our rights as customers which shall be protected. On the hotel, after a night in this health hazardous facility they put us in, they wanted to give us another room. Well no thanks, for a few hundred usd that you refused to return, you wont ruin my holiday and neither will booking.com. But be sure that you will not continue to sell this dangerous rooms as “Superior Suits” if i have to i will sue booking.com on this until all the facilities in those rooms are properly described on their webpage. Guys read well and if you value your time and money just chose another place. Besides the above, the restaurant while looking nice is very slow, i had to go myself to the bar at least 4 time to call them on things. Most of their rooms don’t have Air Conditions so be careful on that too.Whats most worrying they deleted my review from booking.com when the pictures speak for themselves.

Bad Wi-Fi. It works well only at night.2. Breakfast is really bad. Making omelet take them minimum 15 minutes.3. No shops nearby, literally anything. Several restaurants on the beach and mostly that is all.4. Price is higher than it should be if to compare with other resorts like on Bali or Sri-Lanka.Conclusion: High price-Low quality. This can be said not only about the hotel but also about whole country. Asian resorts are much better.

Great personnel and good food. However, the were many things that didnt live up to the expectations. The bed was incredibly hard and the lights in the buildings had a cold hospital glare which ruined the atmosphere. The beach was heavily populated by people walking by and didnt feel very private or relaxing. The waters were shallow for hundreds of meters out, which resulted in a nice guided reef walk, but also prevented swimming. It was windy all the time, someones to windy to relax. While we were there the place booked in a wedding and as a result, the six guests who were not part of the wedding had to content with very slow service. The food and the personnel is the only thing saving this place from getting one star.

One of the best place. Elegant, quiet, traditional and stylish design. My room faced the ocean so that I could breath the wind coming from the waves: a place to be! Staff very nice and gentle.

I had a perfect stay at Zanzibar Pearl Boutique Hotel. The view from my hotel room (suite) was stunning at any time of the day and night. The room was well decorated, simple and warm with the little touches that make the difference. The staff was friendly and helpful at all levels. Matemwe is definitively now my favourite side of the island, with a much more savage and authentic vibe than Kendwa, far less touristy but with equally (if not more) beautiful excursions and facilities. I had a lovely massage in the SPA inside the hotel, I was able to snorkle with thousands of fishes and dolphins on the island just in front of Zanzibar Pearls beach and their pool is a little corner of paradise. This has been my oasis of peace and beauty after a Safari and a few days in Kendwa, I would recommend this place to any kind of traveler looking for beauty, relax, good service and amazing sea!

Went for dinner and it was great! We were served Complementary bread that was great. Drinks were good. Had lobster that was perfect! Chicken was also great. And affordable.

Matemwe villas is the greenest place among whole bunch of other beach hotels first of all. Service was great, food is tasty. the only thing is that there are no AC in rooms; but the rooms are super close to the beach and you get breeze every night

We stayed in this hotel nestled in a tropical garden directly on a white beach that looks like talcum powder, where we found ourselves enchanted, pampered and spoiled by all the helpful and cheerful staff. The well-kept swimming pool with a frame of weaving birds that made your stay very soft is beautiful.The cuisine is excellent and varied, especially the coconut crab soup and the various menus. Exceptional folkloric and grilled evenings, as well as dances and music that delighted all the guests.What can I say, I highly recommend it to all travelers who are passing through or who have to go there.We will definitely meet again.I left there on ❤

We were also allowed to settle down here for 4 nights and to settle this magnificent resort with breathtaking wooden architecture (especially the restoration area) and the extremely cordial staff. The beach and the bungalows are fantastic, the latter partly offer a direct view of the beach ... The food is also fabulous.We will definitely come back here, thank you very much to all of the staff here for the wonderful time!

The hotel really enhanced our stay in Zanzibar. Passed the dream landscapes of this island, the staff wrote the history of the stay thanks to their kindness, benevolence. The place is perfect for a dream holiday. The rooms, the swimming pool, the restaurant / bar, the breakfast are really very good. I highly recommend it, a pleasant stay assured in particular thanks to the manager JOSHUA and all his team.

We stayed in the hotel for 6 days. It was fantastic :) The room, the service, the pool, the manager, just eat everything.If we come back to Zanzibar it will definitely be back to the Pearl.

Nice hotel with nice people, but swimming is impracticable because low tide all day with a lot of sea urchins and when the high tide with a lot of currents!I am not recommending the hotel to you because despite a high price per night with half board, all drinks are to be paid with a 5% surplus, whereas half board means free in the context of half board! Even the filtered water has to be paid !!!!For any trip of at least 15 km, he charges 80 dollars round trip !!!The meals are minimalist, plates poor! And sometimes there werent any desserts !!There is nothing to do in this hotel, just sleep, no entertainment, nothing! A small staff dance for 40 min, twice a week !! But thats all!I do not recommend this hotel value for money! It is better to aim for 100 dollars a night while the room is in the 250 dollars!Can be very interesting if you want to sleep, rest nonstop! And go on a weight loss diet!

Hotel is nice only in room pulls as there is no ceiling and the roof is only thatched roof. Staff are friendly and helpful. If something complained try to clarify, we found it ok. Restaurant menu is not that big but it tastes good. Only a few lodges nearby, if you want to get away you definitely need a car. Price performance goes, for the price you should get more.

We spent 4 nights at this establishment.The water is served in a bottle. The manager claimed that it was a government measure to protect the environment and that the water they served is the same as bottled and filtered.My wife fell ill the day after we arrived. Talking to other hotel guests, at least 3 other people got sick. The day before we left the water was served in a plastic bottle.The day before our departure we wanted to go to dinner outside the hotel in a restaurant located 15 km from the. We asked for the price for a return transport. We were told and written so we were surprised: $ 70!In France, even in Paris we do not pay this price for such a short trip!They are working with a transport company with which they have agreements and refused to advise us of another way to get there.We saw it as racketeering. A very good hotel. Lovely, helpful staff. Arrived at night, we were met at the airport and given a free number before settling in ours. Special thanks to Romy for helping with everything, including finding the lost luggage.Very clean in the room and on the territory. The beach was cleaned every morning at low tide. The only negative is that there is no refrigerator in the room (unfortunately, this is a rarity in Zanzibar).

The place is very nice, the pool is very good, the attention in general could improve, the staff is not very friendly. The bathrooms are very good, but the bed is quite hard. I do not recommend coming in summer because the heat is too much and there is no refrigerator or air conditioning in the room, and between that and the awkwardness of the bed, sleeping becomes complicated. The beach is very beautiful when the tide rises, then there are many algae and plants on the beach. In the place they accept American Dollars but they never have change to give you so bring! They can not change for the local currency but this is like 2,300 shillings 1 dollar so large amounts are handled. Also bring Soap and Shampoo because there isnt or has an ugly half smell.

Hotel has great potential. Badly maintained. Pity. Pool, I went once because not clean. Nothing to rinse before going to the pool, therefore sand in it. The outdoor shower is out of order. Our room OK but unfortunately major problem to take a shower, no water, I asked at least 3 times in a day. We must insist. Otherwise, the food is very good, the staff very nice. A superb view.

They offer rooms with air conditioning when there is none when you get there, it leaves you to fend for yourself to find a solution. And when we find an arrangement he offers you a taxi at inflated prices and does not respect their word and collects the money. It is simply theft.

The place is beautiful, you dont expect a resort but the pool is beautiful as well as the kitchen is very good, and the sea view rooms are much better than the ones behind, so its worth taking the sea view rooms
