We stayed for 7 days here.As of March 2021, much has changed from prior reviews, believed due to the staff sparing money because of COVID. As a result, the beach and rooms are beautiful, but the service, amenities, and staff are atrocious.1. Portion sizes at the restaurant have halved from previous pictures.2. We had to fight with the air conditioner to get it to work at all (pouring water over the compressor because it kept overheating).3. Water is NOT free, but $2 per liter.4. Breakfast is included, but structured and the same every day: 2 eggs, a few fruit pieces, one cup of coffee, and toast. We had to eat ours in the room because of a rampant bee problem (again no help from staff on that).5. Staff is despondent, you have to ask twice or three times if you want anything other than the normal routine.6. Managers are conflict adverse and lied to our face in order to: a) not have to cook us the side we ordered after mishearing it and b) get our air conditioner to work.7. Internet speeds are off and on, sometimes there are 10 minute periods which do not work, and when it’s on, you get about 1.6 mbps.If you are looking for a relaxing holiday, I advise to look elsewhere. It’s very hard to really enjoy the surroundings here.

We stayed in this hotel for 10 days. Great service, very friendly staff, especially MJ. Breakfast are pretty the same each day, restaurant is good but prices are a bit higher than average. Especially for a beer

I fully enjoyed my stay at Jafferji Beach Retreat. I stayed August 20 to 24. The location is about an hour and 20 minutes from the airport. The road was fine most of the way and only rough close to the hotel which didnt seem uncommon compared to other hotels I visited nearby. At the gate there is security and although I arrived late evening, I was greeted by a waiting staff who quickly took my bags and let me sit to have a bite to eat. The menu is small but flavorful and they have specials daily. I honestly thought there was enough variety.First impressions were that even though it was dark, I could tell the grounds were beautiful. Straight in front of the hotel lobby/outdoor restaurant was a landscaped walkway, a blueish purple lit pool and then the beach and ocean beyond that. The pool is perfect size for a small boutique hotel. For wading, dipping feet or sipping drinks while enjoying the view. That night the moon was to the front left of the hotel and reflected beautifully across the water. The room I stayed in was he Sultan Suite. It was beautifully decorated and had a lot of character. The bed sheets were cozy and the mattress was a bit firm for me but I honestly slept well every night. The room is reached by walking up some steps and there is an entrance with a huge patio. There is an outdoor bed, outdoor seating for dining and outdoor sun loungers next to a big aqua colored outdoor tub.I never used the tub, but I did use it for a fun photo opp. I laid outside on the loungers and even on the outdoor bed during a beautiful storm followed by bright sun. I ordered a bottle of Rosé and enjoyed the scenery all day. The view is stunning and so is the sunrise if you are up early enough. They also have a beach bar closer to the beach and away from the pool. No one seemed to want to go down there but I enjoyed drinks there daily and even brought my speaker to play my music. The resort is quiet but this bar area is a bit away so my music didnt distrurb anyones peace. The hotel is close to a village so the beach does get a little busy with locals by afternoon. I saw hotel guest talking with people and even playing ball with them. Everyone was at peace and having fun. I loved the vibe. I chatted with people on the beach too. The beach is swimmable maybe early in the day and there is snorkeling if you take a 7 minute boat ride closer to an island beyond the reef that you can see from the hotel. If you want to explore the ocean in low tide, you can take a hike with a guide from the hotel. Its best to bring water shoes. It was a fun experience and my guide was knowledgeable. If you want to party, there a hotels nearby and Nungwi is not far. I did a day tour also to Stonetown and it was an hour away. Also, the Rock restaurant is not too far from here either. I had a very well balanced trip. My only problem during the stay was a water issue the first night which they warned me about. It took longer than expected to fix but management did show concern. I was not upset but definitely frustrated. When you want a shower from traveling its easy to be agitated. Either way my shower was hot the rest of the trip and my room was taken care of and tuned down daily. The soap also smells great! I would stay here again.

Accomodation and food good. Staff very friendly and helpful. The beach however was polluted with rubbish especially plastics. Local population are using the beach as public toilets.Zanzibar authorities should clean up the beaches and provide proper latrines for the population.

What makes this hotel the most is the surrounding tranquility and the friendliness of the staff who will do their best to please you. The rooms are spacious and well maintained. Bright and right in front of the sea (well the beach because at low tide the sea goes away), what more could you ask for?

We rested here for a week in room 11.The hotel has a well-groomed area, sun beds and umbrellas are always enough. There is a small pool in case someone wants to swim when the tide is low.Breakfast was included in the tour, which was the same for 7 days, a plate of fruit, toast with butter and jam, only it was possible to order a different preparation of eggs ...The room was cleaned every day. The room has a safe, a refrigerator, and a TV that was not turned on during the rest. The staff is helpful. In general, the hotel is good, a long coastline, what you need for walking and relaxation. If you want to hang out, shes not here, this is a place for a relaxing break.Beachboys are spinning near the hotel, one of them (their name is Ami) ordered a trip to the Mnemba island, which is nearby, 100% must be visited, very beautiful, and he also has a trip to Stone Town and the Turtle Islands. It is cheaper to book excursions in a group, and bargain and bargain again :-).

A luxurious boutique hotel offering a completely unobstructed view of the sea. I stayed in the Malaika room, a magnificent suite with comfortable bedding and a breathtaking view. The hotel staff can not do enough for you, the housekeeping is perfect. 4 hearty breakfast options are available, I was delighted to find our famous French toast on the breakfast menu. If you want to enjoy the east coast, see the local fisherman life, swim with a sea view and have 24 hour service, I highly recommend Hotel Jafferi.

A great place to stay. If you want a quiet place, remote from most of the tourists, then this is for you. The staff is great, will help you with everything. The only thing, if you want to eat, the hotel offers more expensive than other restaurants in the vicinity. Suggest the restaurant on chicken legs Coco Greene

Very quiet small hotel. Good food although the menu lacks a bit of choice. We will have dinner at the more chic and romantic hotel next door. Really friendly employees but nothing fancy. The manager arranged a scooter rental and changed rooms because the air conditioning did not work. 🥵 Most beach chairs are fixed so you cannot change the angle of inclination. Only 3 choices of breakfast so very repetitive. Room on the 2nd floor offers an exceptional view. Maid do a very good job.

It is a treat, everything is done for rest. The beach is beautiful, the staff very caring and the restaurant is at the top. The rooms are beautifully decorated and there is a good WiFi network.A very small, but then really very small black point, it is the separation between the bedroom and the bathroom / wc: a simple swing door, saloon style. For discretion, we have seen better.I recommend in hesitating this superb hotel.

Overall the hotel is good. The staff are great. Manager Louise tries to help. But strange things. You tell them that it is very noisy, they say that they will resolve the issue. And in the morning at 6 in the morning a group of gardeners near your room scream and work. Also the hotel is on the edge of the village and there are no bicycles. Walking 40 minutes to shops
