Found this place through high ratings on trip advisor when looking for a place for dinner, wasn’t disappointed.Happened to try it at happy hour so drinks half price and complimentary snacks, drinks were good and strong but snacks were a miss, fresh bread was nice but all we got was garlic dip which was mind blowingly strong and sweet cucumber pickles.We had the grilled beef fillet, succulent with a delicious pepper sauce, vegetables and fries.Got the 2 lobsters dish and it was really good, albeit tough to get out of the shell.Service was nice and the staff were friendly.

We ate Lobster Linguine, Zanzibar Seafood Coconut Curry n Tandoori Chicken, all of them was so delicios. Especially Znz Seafood Coconut Curry should be tasted.

Fantastic Place to Have Dinner; satisfying taste of the food. . . Dont forget to have Hot Brownie for Dessert before having the best sheesha/hookah in Kendwa Beach.

Our friends lived in hotel here and they are was invited us for lunch. Price is really higher than other restoraunts. And taste is not fantastic. I liked soup with seafood, but pasta and Pizza with seafood was not great. And 2 from 3 our friends got sick after eat here.

Nice & fashion place, while dont like cousine much (most dishes are friture based, not very fresh vegetables)

Fantastic dining experience! Khan, the chef, has his whole crew in the kitchen doing an incredible job. The butter chicken isn’t to be missed. The chicken chili is exceptional. The ambiance is fantastic and everything about this place makes it a great stop along the beach. We stayed at another hotel but it was fantastic to get out to this place! Fantastic!

This place is so beautiful, amazing and so refreshing. I would definitely go back there if I ever find myself in Zanzibar again.Their food is always fresh and tasty, my favourite was their big lobster. Omg🙉 they serve the biggest, tasty and well done lobster. When I say well done I mean its perfectly done, yummy and worth anything.The staff is so friendly and helpful. Not forgetting the smiling waiters and waitresses always asking if all is ok or is you need anything. I must confess my experience with essence was the best on my trip to ZanzibarAnd oh, I loved ❤ their desert you guys. It was super lovelyPass through and prove me wrong but I am sure you will also fall in love with Essence Restaurant

A very good restaurant, excellent food and perfect service. The prices are fair and after a walk on the bwautiful beach of Kendwa we were looking on trip advisor for a decent place to eat in the area (which is not easy to find) we arrived here. Had a very pleasant time and will sure come back in the evening which will probably be more full here. We took the snapper fish and kalamari rings.

Very nice place with good icecream (other restaurants offer just 3 tiny scoops for same price) and good food. Cocktails 3$ on happy hour. Great view on the beach from their cocktail bar. Very friendly staff.Food is a bit more expensive but not too much (big plate of fish & lobster as seen in image for 23$).Quality and amount of food is way better here, than other places we tried in the near. Not comparable with the cheaper restaurant in the area. We can recommend that place for anyone visiting kendwa Beach. It feels more upper class but prices are fairly low for that service.

We have choosen this restaurant by Google Maps opinion nad for sure it is worth it! Good place for drink and sunset watching. We didn’t had the chance to taste the food. There is avaliable parking if you are by car.

2 stars because the steak was good. Everything else was super sweet even the indian rice which is unheard of. Service took forever but Zanzibar is not known for fast service. Staff is very nice and welcoming. The greek salad was so sweet.... I think they used sugar for seasoning instead of salt

Got seafood platter. All items were dried out and the sauce had a layer over it as if sitting out too long.

Yeah, so my husband liked it. I am vegetarian and I didnt👎First of all, the prices are in dollars, and are pretty high compared to other restaurants in the area.Secondly, do not order the Greek Salad. It is overstuffed with lettuce and had to really dig in order to find the rest of the vegetables. I only found 2 slices of tomato in the whole plate (like, really?🙊).Another time I ordered the last dish on the vegetarian page (cant remember the name). The vegetables were not cooked, especially the peas. Now, they tend to ask if you are enjoying the food, and I let them know that mine was undercooked. They said they would cook it properly and return it to me. I kid you not, they brought it back the same! 🤔😬🤐

Nice restaurant, we did took the dinner under the stars options and the atmosphere was really nice. The waiters are super kind. The food is ok, some good, some like the octopus could have been cooked better.

We have visited almost every restaurant in the Kendwa area, but this was certainly the best, in terms of value, service, environment and the food. The prices are very reasonable, as compared to places around. Service is very friendly and professional. The meal took standard 15-20 min to arrive, which in Zanzibar is very fast. They have the widest selection of wines. The restaurant has a pleasant, modern ambiance and quite on the beach, so you get the sea breeze. We returned 3 times and would go again. Full marks, well done!

We had a great time. Worth the price The service was very good. The servers were pleasant and nice. All the food that we ordered were delicious. We ordered lobster and rock lobster, chicken tikka masala, forodhani spiced chicken and seafood curry with coconut sauce. The kulfi ice cream was good too. Given the choice we will definitely come again.

Everything is at a height, there is wifi, no one will drive away from the sun loungers, I lie, rest the sea nearby, but there are sea urchins more careful.

We liked 😍 the atmosphere of the restaurant, not the eatery. Prices are the same as in other places, + - a couple of dollars, there is a 10% service charge, but its worth it) for hotel residents -25% its generally a great idea) Wine list, hookah, live music. Very tasty soup with seafood, and, in principle, everything was delicious 😎

Tasty! We eat here almost every evening. On dr cake for free and congratulated. Residents of Kendwa Beach Hotel have a 20% discount on food and there is a special menu for lunch, dinner and happy hours for drinks. The menu for lunch and dinner is attached in the photo, a drink is included in the price with the main course. By happy hour, beer is $1.86 for a 0.5 liter bottle, and snacks are free. It is more profitable to pay in $.

Excellent restaurant. Probably the best in all of Kendwa compared to at least 5 establishments that we managed to visit during our vacation. Always clean, very friendly and helpful staff. Yummy.In the evenings, wonderful live music performed by local musicians.

The facility is disgusting. Ate here with my husband a couple of days ago. Got poisoned from Greek salad. Most likely low-quality cheese was in the salad. It has never been so bad before ... Prices are prices, but paying money to be poisoned on vacation is regrettable. Take care of yourself and look elsewhere.Even in the check, the tip is immediately included ... well, such a redneck

Not cheap, but very tasty. Took seafood coconut curry and only lobster. Both dishes are excellent, large portions. Also good service. But + 10% for it, and + 3% if you pay by card. Overall, recommend as one of the best restaurants on the coast

Very tasty food. There is Indian, Thai, European and Zanzibar cuisine. Barbecue, seafood. There are no octopuses separately, only in allsorts, there are no jumbo shrimps. Nice waiters with good english. Clean, comfortable furniture. Especially liked the dishes of Indian cuisine. In March 2018, the chef is a native of India)))

Had dinner there recently. Personally, I didnt like the food. Overcooked and it was not tasty for me. Kari with seafood was with crab sticks 😳In Zanzibar, where seafood is inexpensive 🦀 🦐🦑🐙🐟

I highly recommend dinner under the stars, table totally in the middle of the beach, nice and professional service, delicious fish dinner, an experience that I will remember with pleasure.

I did not eat, but only enjoyed a Sundance type of ice cream (where they wrote nuts but they are not nuts but peanuts) not bad and above all drank great cocktails during happy hour. Ah, here it is not Happy hour at the Milanese where you make aperitif. Here Happy Hour means that the price is halved and they bring you a saucer with two chips and popcorn.Fluctuating service: sometimes they are swift, sometimes hiding. Always courteous, though.

The best place in Kendwa. This is really a restaurant, not an eatery, which are the institutions in the village. A large wine list, in the evening it is a pleasure to drink a glass of cold white wine under lobsters. The service is very polite and fast. It is possible to pay by card with a 3% commission (the norm for Zanzibar), 10% of the service charge is included in the bill, which in this case I consider absolutely reasonable. I was surprised that the prices are very adequate, the level is approximately the same as in the beach cafes Paje. Dinner for four with wine and dessert costs 200 thousand. The menu prices are in dollars, the exchange rate is normal. Recommend! 👌🏻

The Canadian family who owns this restaurant are well organized! Very tasty food for a nice price. The ambiance is beautiful and the service definitely deserves praise: super friendly and professional! Recommended!
