Beautiful beach hotel. The entrance was free and we just paid for food and drinks. They did not seem to mind our bottle of water that we carried from outside. We ordered a seafood curry and a chicken sizzler which was delicious. The beach is beautiful too! would highly recommend

Great bar&restaurant in on of the nicest beaches on Zanzibar. Staff is super friendly, they give good recommendations for cocktails and they make very good ones too! The food from the restaurant is delicious, a lot of erupean style food is served.As always, waiting time for food is big, but drinks come quickly, which is probably more important in hot days :)They even played sports on the TV and were happy to put on any game that was played at the moment at your request :)

Beautiful beach, but the hotel has the worst service Ive seeing anywhere. Staff were charging people double for drinks and food and stashing the extra money, it took them over an hour and a half to bring my food whenever I ordered. Because of all this I would not recommend this place, the staff need some serious training and they need to at least act like they care about the customers. Such a shame because the beach really is beautiful but I suggest you stay at other hotels nearby not Sunset Kendwa.

Mixed feelings. We stayed in Sunset for 4 nights during end year 2021 and beginning of 2022. The resort has a spacious restaurant, beds to chill, beach bar and sunbeds. The food was very tasty. The service was friendly but seemed understaffed - the waiting time was way too long. One day I was waiting 40 mins for 1 smoothie... and another day 1 hour for fresh fruit plate. So there is a confusion and wrong time/order management. I know the pole pole style of life but with these high temperatures you cannot wait 40-60 mins for something to drink, come on! Giving 4/5 for the service. Rooms were quite old-dated. The AC in the room worked but somehow the room was still hot, maybe since the balcony doors were all glass and were heating up quickly. Overall, it was an OK stay.

We had unexpectedly our NYE dinner at this place, after giving up with the complex paying system of the hotel next door...Quality/price here was one of the best we had on Zanzibar, lots of really fresh cooked fishes and other delicious dishes. Super friendly waiters. Highly recommended!

Its a decent hotel with nice architecture, great rooms, perfect beach and view, rooms are big and stylish, but not to expect too much. Usually, as it is in whole africa, service is very slow. Expect one hour for preparing lunch. Beer is usually never cold. Breakfast is quite basic, only eggs and pancakes are available. The toilet in our room had problems twice, filled with water. Dont expect something upgrade or extra or apology as you will get in many other hotels around the world, as in Africa service standards are below average. If you are good with everything described above, I wish you a pleasent stay!

Best holiday we ever had! Perfect location!! We travelled all over the Island, but Kendwa Beach was our Favourite! Sunset Kendwa is right on the beach, we stayed in the room closest to the beach, and the sea was literally only a few steps from our room! The Large swimming pool was sparkling with an amazing view of the sea and beach! Many activities to choose from, or we could just relax on the sun beds or on the soft couches in the restaurant which had good wifi! The rooms were beautiful and clean. The staff was so friendly and welcoming! The hotel is located walking distance from little tourist stalls and other hotels, so we had dinner at a different restaurant each night! Most amazing place!

I was reluctant to stay in a resort style hotel but wow! I couldnt be happier I stayed here. My room was comfortable and luxurious, it was basically on the beach! The pool, bar and kitchen area has the waves at your feet. Friendly staff, fun vibe, hammocks, activities, sunsets, the best.

Very nice place, rooms are comfortable, air conditioning, hot water, the pool, restaurant and beach are amazing to. The breakfast is included its like a buffet (omelette, sweets, hotcakes, juice, cereal, etc). The pool opens at 10 to 18, they gives you free beach towels. Take care with birds in the breakfast, they used to steal food of your plate. And take care to in the beach with the jellyfish, the locals say “no problem” but just look around for safety. I recommend this place at all.

Nice hotel on the beach. Lunch and dinner meals are excellent. NO WIFI in rooms but in common areas of tge hotel. I would recommend getting rooms on the beachfront as there is a huge hill with steps to go back n forth 2 the rooms, that could be quite challenging. Next door to Kedwa Rocks Hotel. Small stores r in the area in walking distance for snacks n liquor.

Location is superb...food am not expecting something special to be honest as all the Zanzibar island restaurants are not delicious to be honest except some local dishes yes ..am being honest and not biased

We didnt stay at the hotel part but Restaurant atmosphere and the food was nice. Staff were kind and professional.

The villas are outdated, the foods are so so. Except for the octopus curry which really tastes good. Breakfast is also so so, they aren’t offering buffet so you have to order the eggs. No WiFi inside the room, only in the restaurant. Telephone inside the room is also not working, its just for display.

Really relaxed with my family. The peace and quiet and surroundings are just what a tired mind needs. However, the breakfast buffet could be better.

I just wanted to give feedback for the restaurant. Even staying at kendwa rock we went there for food. They have big variety and amazing taste. I would recommend the octopus zanzibar style. Sooooooo good

We were not guests of this hotel, but hang out at this beach, as considered it most convenient on Kendwa. Not to wide beach with a lot of palms and umbrellas creating shadows. Nice bar and resturant with reasonable prices and good food and drinks.Did not experience staying in its rooms, but I certainly will when plan my next trip there.

The rooms are simple but comfortable. Its right on the beach which is fantastic and has an on house restaurant and bar. The restaurant isnt spectacular but its good. There are a lot of other options nearby too. Breakfast is included in the price: not great,bit not bad either. I would consider coming back here.

Got strong bacterial infection after mix seafood curry and spent 2 days in a hospital. so it costed me quite expensive: my health and 1000 eur :( Yesterday we saw like fishermen butcher tuna fish right on the beach between Sunset Kendwa and Zuri hotel and dig internals right into this beautiful white sand. I have no words ....

This is a good hotel and a great place to stay. Don’t expect 5-star, but for a great 3-star experience. The rooms are decent, but the beach is outstanding. I loved the two night stay and the staff was great and friendly!

There’s no words to describe this location. The hotel is modest but the beach in front of it is amazing. It takes just few steps to reach this uncontaminated white beach. Very relaxing place to regenerate. Super suggested.

Our 1st time at the restaurant was total disaster! We already got used to slow and bad service at zanzibar in general. But this, 1st they forgot half of our drinks, when we got our food already we reminded them of the drinks and made it clear we still didnt get the first order at all, in the end they still tried to charge us twice. Food was meh, no taste at all, but you can eat it. But then we found out my girlfriends lobster in her pasta was totally raw, like eeewh raw, she barely touched it otherwise, we told the server immediately. He said they will make new one. But what a surprise when he brought it, it was exactly the same plate, with the same peace of raw meat exactly as my gf spit it out, just microwaved. Seriously?!!! I told him its not ok, that we dont want it, to cancel it and I asked for the bill. After at least 10 mins I asked for the bill again, got it after 10 mins, still including the seagull pasta we returned and extra drinks, waited another 15 mins, nobody came. Went to the myself and spend another 10 mins arguing with them convincing them we didnt get the half of the drinks twice and that we returned the food, even the server taking our order and dealing with the complaint still wasnt sure... I didnt hear proper sorry once, for the raw disgusting meal, nor for them trying to charge as for it and the extra drinks..

Have not stayed here over but went for a day visit. The beach in Kendwa is beautiful. One of the best of the island!Sunset Kendwa have comfortable lounges facing the sea where you can still feel that youre on the beach but away from crowd.The staff are friendly. The food is okay, nothing special just the typical food served everywhere. I was quite underwhelmed with my lobster pasta. it lacked seasoning.

Nice view if you want to see sunset in 4k mode just give this place a try and their food are so tasty and cheap

Very poor quality rooms. Im attaching photos of damages in the room I was staying in. We only stayed here for one night and decided to go somewhere else. But during this one day we had to ask two times for repairs because first sink was leaking, then water was coming form under the toilet. Hotel service is very rude and telling you straight to your face that they doesnt care. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.

The roomsare in a good condition and we could sleep quite well.PowerThe hotel has a own generator so youll be able to use everything except fridge and AC in case of power issues (this happened already 2 times in 4 days). If you choose a location without a generator (like we did on our first day), youll learn how to shower out of water bottles and use candles for light.FoodYou should not expect much for breakfast. Everyone gets a small plate with fruit (2 mall mango pieces and 2 small melon pieces) and you will find some toast with jams and cornflakes. Waiting for a pancake or egg sometimes take 20min because you only have 2 small pans for all guests. Egg yellow is often white, thought of the bad nutritions for the chickens. Even the water has a bad taste. Every day you have the same food.For dinneryou should use one of the other restaurants. Cocktails are good, but you should skip the kitchen.The beachis good to swim and relax. If you try snorkeling at kendwa Beach you will not see that much, since there are not many fish and only a few dead corals in the water.TippingAs a white tourist, youll often feel like a atm here, since everyone seems to expect a tip from you and get frustrated when you dont tip. We didnt tipped the beach towel guy for first 2 days and then he stopped helping us with the towels and stopped smiling.We are here for the first 4 days and I might update my review by end of this trip.

Rooms were clean. Nice beach bar. Unfortunately TERRIBLE service on multiple occasions. Drink orders from the bar not arriving for over an hour, food orders incorrect, missed out or just messed up let alone taking over an hour to come.Shame.

Best Sunset on Zanzibar and great hotel

It’s a very good place to see the special and famous sunset of Zanzibar so I suggest to go there at 6:00 pm and have an happy hour!If you want you could have dinner too and try special dishes, like seafood and chicken, with your feet in the sand! Special.

Stayed here in late 2014. Very nice location, right on the marvellous beach. Its a world class beach! The restaurant at the place was yhe tjing that bakanced it all , wow what a joke, stay far away. But no worries, good foodplaces was easy to find on the beach,World class beach!

We sat at the Sunset because they sit infront of a beautiful beach area, very clean water, palm trees and many tourists there. They also have sun beds for rent which we rented. Pros - great location on the kendwa shore. Cons - bad fruit shakes (with artificial juice and sugars), high prices for bar and sun beds, mediocre service.

I dont know about the hotel but the restaurant is terrible. Weve been waiting 20 minutes only for the menu which is too long even for Zanzibar.
