Me and my boyfriend stayed at the hotel for a week and got to try out all the rooms:Great service and beautiful premises. Food was good and the breakfast was excellent! The dinner menu changes daily and theres a nice variety for breakfast meals which always include some fruits, tea, a pastry and juice/ smoothie. There are other restaurants nearby too.If youre a tall person, I dont recommend booking the jungle sea view room as the bathroom ceiling is low. The sea view rooms are located upstairs where they have their own terrace areas. Its nice and cozy to chill there.Id recommend booking one of the superior rooms if youre planning to stay longer because the rooms are much bigger -- plus the rooms with no sea view have air conditioning. The superior rooms all have their terraces with at least one daybed.The hotel offers different activities, such as a Stone Town tour which you can combine with another activity if you like.We truly enjoyed our stay at the hotel, especially since the atmosphere is relaxing, intimate and romantic.Highly recommended for (20-45yo) couples!

This in Zanzibar was my first trip to Africa .... I was very excited and I was pleasantly surprised by this beautiful holiday. With my partner, we chose Mamamapambo after safari in Kenya and we relaxed a lot. Our first floor room had a gorgeous terrace overlooking the sea and falling asleep with the sound of the waves was very romantic. We loved the style of the rooms and of the whole hotel, very welcome and built with the materials of the place. Room well cleaned and with all the amenities, comfortable bathroom, varied breakfast and very good breakfast. Staff always kind, and available to exchange a few words with us and other guests. The excursions are well organized and private, with the help of the hotel.We stayed in half board and the dinner was great, different every night. Excellent dishes of typical Swahaili cuisine, Italian gnocchi but my favourite, the grill mixed seafood, with lobster, king prawns, crab, calamari and octopus.It was a wonderful holiday, thanks to all the staff.

This small hotel was really very special for us. Small and very intimate, with a family atmosphere. Very nice furniture with a lot of taste. Spacious and well organized rooms, perfect our air-conditioned, comfortable bathroom. Great breakfast but especially varied, I think the best had on our trip! Hassan, Regina and Martin always smiling, prepare excellent cocktails and the rest of the staff always have time to have a chat ... something very appreciated. The cuisine is really good, all the dishes are freshly prepared and are delicious. Paolo the owner, is very friendly and always available for advice. Do not miss the spice tour and paradise island (not to be confused with the blue safari on the beach, a real disappointment).

Beautiful, very relaxing stay spent at Mama Mapambo. Family atmosphere, friendly staff. Excellent breakfast, the best had on our trip, and delicious dishes on the menu, every evening different, from fresh fish and lobster, traditional dishes, with a touch of Italian cuisine, excellent fresh pasta. Prices absolutely proportionate to quality and service.Comfortable and clean rooms, view of the Ocean and perfect location to explore the fishing village that has hosted us.Perfect holiday after the safari.

My vote for Mamamapambo is a full 5 stars. The location is great and Jambiani has a beautiful beach. The hotel has just 6 rooms so the atmosphere is very intimate and chill. At the check-in they offer a welcome drink and the manager will give you a brief introduction of the place and the services they offer. We had a room upstairs with a great view and a private balcony. Rooms are really well decorated in the local style. Wi-Fi is not great but this was a common issue in Zanzibar. Breakfast is very good and you have lots of options to choose from. On the ground floor there is the restaurant with a very nice menu, especially for dinner. The food was superb. If you are in one of the rooms upstairs you might hear noises coming from the roof at night but we never had any issue, it was just a bit annoying.

Children play free on the beach and socialize easily.Excellent food, lots of choice and care in the menu, adequate prices.intimate and pleasant atmosphere.Friendly and funny staff.Absolutely recommended!

The perfect place to relax. Weve spend here the last 3 days of our holidays and we really enjoyed our stay here. The restaurant offers every day a different menu for dinner and the food is lovely. Breakfast is abundant, with various choises. The people who work here are very kind and helpfull, especially the girl who works at the restaurant.The room is very nice decorated. If you take the accomodation with sea view you will have a small privat area in from of your room where you can relax. We highly recommend it.

The hotel is simply mesmerizing! The design is very authentic, fairy tale like. Perfectly clean, quiet, fantastic bar and beach deck, perfect restaurant for a candle light dinner...Rooms are comfortable with cousy private verandas and a shared terrace with splendid ocean view. Staff is very polite, helpful and attentive. Highly recommend this place!

Beautifully built hotel right on the beach in Jambiani. Ideal in February when the beach is more or less deserted. Great breakfast included however dinner in the restaurant, though convenient, can be so-so quality and more expensive than the many options from other nearby places along the beach. Overall an incredibly friendly, welcoming and relaxing place in a location that looks like paradise.

The Hotel was very very nice with only 6 rooms. So it’s very familiar. The manager asked us every day if everything is ok. He was very attentive and friendly. Also the staff was so friendly and courteous.We had Room 1 with sea view and it was perfect. The room was so nice, with everything what you need. We had a small dressing room, a king size bed which was very cozy but a little bit short (I‘am 1.75 and I think the bed was 1.90), a big bathroom with two washbasins, a very nice terrace with two chairs and a nice hammock. In the night you can fall asleep with the sound of the sea. The room was perfect!!The breakfast was incredible delicious, first every day a different kind of fruits or fruit salad and after that you can choose between Omelette or different kinds of very lovley oatmeals. For drinks fruit juice, coffee, and tea.3 minutes away from the hotel there is a small shop where you can buy Drinks, Cookies or some other stuff (if you leave the Hotel, you have to go left and where the big palm stands you have to turn right and after that left and there is a little Shop). The drinks in the hotel are a bit expensive. Outside you can buy a Coke or a soda water for 1.000 TZS and in the hotel you have to pay 2-3 $. Also the food in the hotel is more expensive than outside and the amount of food is too little.But we would recommend this hotel and would definitely come back at any time.

Mamamapambo is an Amazing hotel with 6rooms with private bathroom in front of Jambiani beach. The staff anche the owners are very kind and professional, trying to make all the time your holiday relaxing. Restaurant food is always delicious. Cocktails are so flavourful!

The lodge is really inviting. Rooms are beautiful. The beach is not good in front of the hotel. The food is impossible to eat. Had the food been good this would have been an outstanding place.

Beautiful structure literally a stones throw from the sea. Friendly staff always ready to help. Spacious and clean rooms, own restaurant and bar service. The Italian owner was not present but we met Manuela a very nice girl from Bologna who is taking care of the hotel who helped us a lot by giving us several very useful information for our holiday. A special thanks certainly goes to Susanna, the hotel manager, who with her professionalism, care and availability pampered us throughout the holiday, organizing for us everything we needed: from a medical examination (I had 2 days fever) to several wonderful excursions: thank you, Susanna, thank you Mamamapambo Hotel, super happy!

The most hospitable, those who have the best restaurant and the best service in all of Zanzibar, an Italian touch to the kitchen that gives that touch of magic and professionalism in everything you will find in this wonderful location three meters from the sea, where you can dine and sleep , or even taking a cocktail is magically in the sea breeze and in front, Indeed almost above the wonderful Indian ocean with harmonious scents that only this part of Zanzibar, unique to have remained as genuine as it once was, will be able to make you savor. we had tears in our eyes, because one cannot help but become attached to all this

The absolutely amazing position! The beach in front of the hotel invites for long walks and the colors of the sea during low tide leave you breathless!

My partner and I stayed at this hotel towards the end of March (when we returned to Italy on 24/03 and contrary to what we thought the weather has always been wonderful, rain does not exist).Small and welcoming structure (only 6 rooms). Friendly and knowledgeable staff, especially the cooks. Very good kitchen! On a par with Italian cuisine. We stayed in the sea view room near the reception, working wifi, clean and spacious room for two people. The highlight is definitely the veranda.

Very kind staff, courteous and always available. We have chosen half board (breakfast and dinner) and the food has always satisfied and in some cases exceeded our expectations. The structure is welcoming, comfortable and ideal for those who want to stay in a different place from the usual resorts (anonymous and all the same). Highly recommended.

Quirky hotel, for not everyone. The tides here are very low and allow you to enjoy the local way of life. The staff is very nice and the prices are contained. If you are looking for a place away from the big resorts, quiet and mix with the local people, this is your place. If what you are looking for is sun and beach I would think about it. I do not recommend traveling with children. The rooms are beautiful, different and allow you to enjoy the tides. If this place fits with your way of seeing travel, it is a totally recommended place.

Perfect hotel for those who want to spend a few quiet and relaxing days in Jambiani. The hotel is very small (6 rooms) so you have a lot more employees than guests around you.There really is nothing wrong with it. My friend was even brought free coconuts from the trees every day.The European owners regularly asked about our wellbeing and had great tips for trips or where to go by bike.Facilities are great, the hotel is generally very lovingly and detailed. Like in paradise.The food is a bit more expensive compared to some other hotels (1-2 USD per dish), but you get really great food. In Germany I have rarely eaten so good, balanced and healthy. The Swahili dinner in particular was lavishly organized and the atmosphere and selection were extremely outstanding.Special advantage: the loungers are inside the hotel and the fence protects you from the beach boys.The area is beautiful at both high and low tide.We will definitely come back here again.

The hotel is not what it looks like in the pictures ... There are 2 rooms that have sea views, but you do not have direct access from them, but you have to go through the terrace of the bar. The others are quite dark. The room is fine but has a strong smell of some product with which they treat the wood and being in front of the sea with algae there are many insects. It is located in a small town where there is nothing to see / do and all the restaurants are in the coastal line, so you have to walk around the beach to find them. We were able to locate a small supermarket about 20 minutes walk. The beach is full of seaweed, so bathing is not as pleasant as in the rest of the beaches of the island we have visited. It is worth it if you are looking for a hotel facing the sea to not leave, but I think there are quite better around.

Beautiful hotel on Jambiani beach. Few rooms, large and clean, the restaurant offers fish dishes, and not only, fresh and freshly cooked. Excellent value for money for all services received. Well be back.
