The hotel exceeded our expectations! We stayed there for 6 nights, and like always we were curious to see how the pictures would match the real life, and it was even better, the two front pools are breath taking , the staff is really kind and the accomodations are clean and comfortable. We just wish we could stayed there longer. We ate at the hotel restaurant for 3 nights and the food was amazing too, they always have specials of the day and you also should give that a try.
Have just been to Fun Beach for a meal, by far the best food we have had in Zanzibar. Fantastic food, chilled atmosphere, great surroundings and amazing staff!!! Went in intending to have a 3 course meal but could only manage a starter the portions are so generous. Going back tomorrow for more!! Accommodation also looks excellent but we had already booked somewhere else. Cant recommend enough. Asante sana.Good value for money too.
Amazing resort/hotel and a great introduction to Jambiani beach. The staff are friendly. There are 3 beautiful pools to swim in and the ocean and beach are literally on your doorstep. Food is great, atmosphere is chilled. Rooms are spacious and clean. Shower water is boiling hot. I truly enjoyed my stay at Fun Beach and I highly recommend it! Its an excellent location to just relax.
Fun beach hotel is a great place to stay in Zanzibar. The front swimming pool looks and feels amazing. The restaurant serves almost all day long, the food is really good and inexpensive. However, they often run out of some ingredients (vanilla ice cream even tho its artisanal, ingredients for some dishes, etc.).The bungalows are only a few steps away from the swimming pool, and the hotel is directly located on the beach so that you can enjoy both. Bungalows are cleaned everyday by the hotel staff. The staff is really kind, always asking how the day is going and what they can do to enhance your stay. However, theyre a little pushy when it comes to sell you food and cocktails.Special thank you to the people at the front desk who helped us settle a problem with our local airline by calling them (as we dont speak Swahili).
We only ate as we were staying next door , Chef is called Bharat and with his wonderful Indian style cooking blended with the spice of Zanzibar this food is a must, best food so far on the island. All the staff are friendly and helpful and one lady in particular was excellent and always alert to our needs , so thank you Atu for making our food taste even more delicious...
Lovely location.I did not stay here I only ate here. The food was good, but the service was very slow, and the staff seemed nice but really slow.
The rooms are spacious, wonderful bathroom, and one of the most incredible pools Ive seen. There are also three of them. The location is perfect. Youre right in between paje and jambiani. You can walk all along the beach to kite surf and go to some great night life nearby. The management is very accommodating and helpful. Great price for the stay. I would happily recommend for an easy stay.
Highly disappointing. I rarely write reviews, now I feel like writing one.An active, and negotiation-heavy holiday I wasn’t looking for.1) After a day-long travel, you’re tired. Knocking at the room door repeatedly loudly at 10pm (with no lights on in the room) for RE-signing a check that we already signed. Not ok.2) Knocking at 8:07 AM for housekeeping, again... we came here to rest not for a wake-up routine. Consider adding a “do not disturb” sign.3) during housekeeping the door was left open for more than 2 hours. We found the door open, and cleaning supplies left in the room. So much for security.4) No hot water in general, we had to ask at the reception every time for hot water. There is no telephone, so that’s a walk to the reception every time. Talk about “active holiday”5) Every food we ordered at the bar/restaurant took at least 40 mins. For a burger. Come on. They regularly forgot our order.6) Staff refused to inform me of the manager’s name multiple times.7) The cocktails that are nothing else than sugar and water. Shameful 7 USD for water and sugar. Also, coffees are a joke... oh and breakfast too.8) I didn’t carry any cash on me when arriving, so I told the staff who brought the luggage in that I’ll make sure to pass by amd give them their tips. Fair enough, it’s sandy, and the luggages were... well 15kg not exactly weightlifting records, still they would get their fair tip. BUT THE AUDACITY, yes written in caps lock, to come to our room when chilling on the front deck asking for that tip... honestly, never experienced such a scene.9) Management is too “Hakuna Matata”, and it is flawed on a lot of levels, and there should be a serious look into a general management of the establishment. And staff, a higher standard of english should be required.10) Generally disappointed, and definitely not coming back to this hotel, on this otherwise amazing island and country.
We had a lovely 2 nights stay at Fun Beach! From cleanliness to staff to all the facilities especially the pool - excellent! The food variety might feel limited if youre there for a long stay (more than 5 days) but I am sure they would be more than happy to accommodate your needs and there are plenty of resorts nearby as well. Highly recommend it.
If you’re a fun ofBeach 🏝 WalksOpen water swimming 🏊🏽♀️Surfing 🏄♀️Yoga 🧘♀️ and exercise with a breath of fresh air then this is the place .—- Am not a food 🍲 🥘 🍱 expert but I think I liked their menu .
We had dinner here and it was super tasty, great flavors and colors. I had an amazing passion fruit smoothie, absolutely delicious. We recommend the deep fried king fish and the espresso. The spring rolls were too oily for my taste, but my boyfriend really loved it. The mango & banana sorbet was tasty and the chocolate cake was nothing special, but ok. We really enjoyed the time spent there and we really appreciate the professionalism and the kindness of the staff. The bathroom is also suuuper clean and nice. Overall, very good experience, Asante Sana! 💗
A great hotel and a really fun vibe to go with its name. The pools are awesome and great to chill at all day. The food is always delicious and the staff always happy to help. Very relaxing rooms and we love the decor. We will be back again for sure!
This place is paradise. Fun Beach Resort is one of the most relaxed hotels Ive stayed at in a very long time. Its set up is just perfect, with two large, picturesque pools situated at the front and back of the hotel. The back one is quieter, whilst the front one overlooks the beach. In the middle of the resort, is the bar and restaurant (which serve great food and drink) along with a number of lounge areas including a games rooms. The rooms and villas are dotted around the complex. Theres a small beach attached to the resort, but theres not too much there. The resort also has a great method of ordering food. Everything is paid for at the end and you have an ongoing tab per room, meaning you dont have to worry about money during your stay. All of the staff at Fun Beach Resort were incredibly friendly and couldnt do enough for us. Many of them remembered us by our names.Theres not a huge amount around the resort, but theres many day trips that are available. We ventured out to The Rock restaurant for a meal one evening which is a short drive from the hotel.Highly recommended location if youre looking for a place to stay in Zanzibar! Just a small tip if youre staying with friends, the shower unit is quite open (theres no door for when youre showering). Its not too much of an issue though as theres still enough privacy if youre in the bedroom part of the room.
Nice and cozy place. Local Art Theme is so striking from the Reception, Lounge, Dining Halls and Courtyards. I enjoyed the Game/ Sports Room which has 2 Slug Games, 2 Snooker Tables, 1 Table Tennis court and several local Board Games. The library has a wide range of books. Food is nice lunch, dinner and breakfast. The Grand Swimming pool is nice to swim in. I enjoyed myself with my family. Staff is very friendly helpful.
Hotel grounds and pool magnificent. Food was great.Staff were terrible.I reserved a facial and they told me my appointment was canceled. I responded uh no I never canceled. During the facial pounding music came on and was distracting. I had my transfer a few hours after my group departed. I confirmed with the front desk and housekeepers I was leaving at 12. I tried to catch an hour rest and I was walked in on and woken up three times by housekeepers. 11:30 came around and the front desk was pounding on my door that I needed to check out at 11.They hadnt finished cleaning all the departure rooms yet so there really was no hurry other than to ruin a great stay. Staff should be ashamed of them selves. It was confirmed numerous times my departure time.
The place is absolutelly beautiful and the staff very friendly, however it misses a basic thing which is mosquito nets for the windows. We had many mosquitos inside and then they need to use the mosquito spray which is toxic and can produce breathing irritation. Also the weather outside is nice to sleep with the window open but you cannot really do it because of the mosquitos. Then you need to use the fan or AC and consume electricity for nothing. Also it would be nice to provide a way to reffil your water bottle instead of providing half liter plastic bottles every time and produce so much waste.
The rooms are good, the pool was awesome.Poor wifi strength. No fridge in the room to cool your drinks.Pool table broken, basically just a normal place and not much fun.
The Fun Beach Hotel is perfect, a lovely place : the staff is very welcoming, rooms are confortable, the swimming poolS are amazing, just in front of the sea, close to Paje beach (5min by car), the restaurant also is very good ! I recommand without any hesitation !!
Beautiful hotel on the beach. Thanks to Roja for his professionalism and friendliness. A thought too for Margareth and her welcome.
Very nice beach resort, with an amazing location, pool and nice rooms. Good design taste for the interiors and entertaining room. Small negative point on the restaurant which can be sometimes a bit slow if you dont order up ahead but this may be due to the fact that the hotel is relativity new. Staff is very friendly and everyone understands English.
I was not a guest here but came to visit friends and used the bar and restaurant. The place has a nice vibe and it’s very beautiful. The food/drinks are overpriced and service can be a bit confusing 😅
Found this resort through a happy accident, really relaxing, high quality design with the exceptional infinity pool. some of the best food we had on the island, beautiful setting, 16 stylish rooms with there own patio by the side of the pool and good value.Special mention to the management team, really good, they will make this resort one of the Islands best.
The pool is amazing, including the view from the pool. Aircondition was not working all night, so was not that comfy. Overall a priceworth place.
Beautiful hotel to stay at, view are amazing and the staff is friendly, the breakfast is not good, the worst in my trip to Zanzibar so far.But very comfortable and relaxed place to stay
Hands down the best place to stay when going to Zanzibar. You won’t find better value for money anywhere on the island. Spacious AC rooms amazing pools with friendly staff and excellent service. The Resturant food quality is good and reasonably priced. Very well maintained facilities compared to most other places we stayed at in Zanzibar. Highly recommended.
We really enjoyed staying here. Rooms were clean and well designed. Interior is basic but thats not a problem :) There is pretty big pool outside where you can spend time during low tide when beach is awful. Staff is helpful and breakfast is pretty good. Food in restaurant could be better - after trying it for two times we started going to other restaurants for lunch/dinner.The only thing I didnt like is paying. They charge you everything in dollars and if you want to pay in TSH they recalculate it again with poor exchange rate. Paying with CC requires 5% surcharge. If we come here again we will definitely pick this place again ;)
We just came here to swim in the pool and have some food. The entertainment manager Louis is awesome but the kitchen needs improvement when it comes to allergies. I ordered everything without nuts but I still had allergic reaction. When I complained they didnt care much. They even said that I might have tasted the food of my friend which had nuts in. I of course did not do that. In the end I had to pay for the food that I could not eat. Will not eat there again. Be careful when you have allergies.
This hotel is amazing, and probably one of the best in the area (weve walked around plenty, it really looks like that). The rooms are nice huts at the beach, with an amazing pool view, and including AC. They are spacious and comfortable. The bathroom is modern and spacious, with a great shower and separate toilet. Outside, you have some sofas and a hang net, where you can enjoy your view in peace. The place is beautifuly decorated, very close to the beach, where you can swim when the tide is high, and with plenty of chairs to lay and enjoy the sun. The food is also great, not expensive at all, and there are daily specials. And the staff is very kind and helpful. The only minus point is that everything closes by 21h30, 22h. There is nothing to do afterwards, everyone goes to sleep. Same for the other places in the area. It would be great to have some events for younger people!
21-27.04.2019 .As a starter it was off season and I couldn’t aim better .My recommendation for this play is definitely 10 out of 10. The room was very clean and very nice. Masai girls were keeping it tidy unleast twice a day (after breakfast and before the the dinner) Swimming pool was a good treat specially it wasn’t infused with chemicals and it was huge, it would be big plus if a pool had some nightlights. Room service was top notch (cheers to Mia and her Brother )food was great, but breakfast menu could use some bi-weekly changes. Im coming back this year, same place same room, great experience.
Perfect place, full of nature and flowers, quiet, 5 star service with a kind staff and private beach with only few beach boys, never disturbed during our walk on the beach, the place to be in Jambiani ❤️🦋🌼
Cosy. safe and confortable. It was our home for 12 days. Large, clean rooms in front of the main pool, facing the ocean. Very friendly staff (a big thank you for all of you). Good restaurant (maybe some more choices for the ones who say more days). A big plus for the local fruits and the menu of the day.
Quiet place. Perfect fit for a romantic stay. Decoration is so nice and the food also with cheap price. My only concern is about the staff at the restaurant who might should be pushed much more by the management to deliver consistent service ! And guys what did you do with the wifi ?? It is as slow as the one we had 20 years ago...
Hello,My friend and I decided to book our last 4 nights in Tanzania at the fun beach resort. It was by far our most expensive nights during our trip, but we wanted to make the most of it before coming back to rainy France. The premises are lovely, 2 huge swimming pools (one which looks like 2 its so big), the staff is really friendly, breakfast is delicious. Our little hut was comfortable (careful open bathroom) and had a hamac which is nice for when it rains. They also have free bikes available which we used to go to paje during our first day there. We were unfortunately a little off-put upon our arrival when reception asked us for our credit card to copy the numbers (including the ones on the back of the credit card) to ensure we wouldnt leave without paying (we had already paid 400€ on booking for our nights). We refused for safety reasons and it got tricky...we ended up finding a solution but it was long and stressful. Good start! We then had an incident (still on our very first day) which spoiled our enthusiasm in spending more money in this lovely looking place. We put our cash in our rooms safe as we arrived, and realised the next morning 50€ + $50 had vanished as we counted it again before going to Paje. We realise it sounds impossible, however the facts are we are missing money, so we went to reception. The lady we explained this to didnt look that surprised (which made us think this has probably happened before)! Then we were asked to talk to a lady manager + the reception manager. They listened to us and took our complaint to the hotel owner. The hotel owner decided it wasnt his problem (that the safes in his hotel arent safe...! And whats in the safe is not their responsability according to what was explained to us). I can understand, as I would myself also be septical if I were him, but we think he could have suggested we have a beer or something to welcome us despite the issues we encountered since our arrival. But nothing! We then read all the comments on bookings for this hotel and realised the customer service is most unpleasant. We are expecting a response that says the hotel is right, you are wrong to this comment as This is what they seem to do, but we feel it is important you should be warned the safe IS NOT SAFE in this hotel, and this really can spoil your holiday, so be careful (especially that the windows are left open after the morning cleaning and remain open all day if youre gone on an excursion and come back late in the afternoon to close them!)Also, we recommend you dont use their services for excursions, they are waaaaay more expensive than next door! (Google has an excursion to Chumbe at $90/pers, the hotel has it for $160!).Other than that, we think you could spend a nice time in this hotel (30 min walk to Jambiani/ 50 min to Paje). Otherwise the Mwezi Boutique Resort where we spent our last day is also very nice with friendly staff, great massage and a pool which is lit up at night.
What a stunning hotel! The grounds are pristine, food and drinks were excellent, the bungalows are so cute, clean and fresh. The managers let us stay here one night for no additional costs as were we staying at an older sister hotel, Casa Del Mar, but wanted to have a bit more modern luxury....this place delivered in spades!!! Iris and her husband were lovely!!! Thank you so much for the wonderful island hospitality!!!
Good place have 3 pool amaizng bangalao big speace Have fantastic
Great staff and lovely hotel kitchen could do with some improvement. 9 times out of 10 they got my order wrong and the rest of the time it was often poorly done. A few nice restaurants close by though. The male manager was also not the most pleasant person to come across which is a shame as the rest of the staff are very friendly.
Is a beautiful resort whit wonderful people, who resolve anything for the tourist and all the time whit smiles on face, fresh food, clean room ....etc. Exceptional.
Clean spotless rooms and big pool. Staff not well trained yet, vibe is very unwelcoming and cold. The manager should work on his communication and friendliness. The beach in front is not the best. I would rather stay somewhere else next time.
Worst manager ever I meet. The natzi guy ... with zero long term perspective and zero thinking about customer service. So sad because the local staf was amazing
Great place, clean, friendly, and super fun. Food was good and the view amazing. A little pushy on afternoon drink sales, but not enough to lose a star over.
Super place, great pools, great people, great food ! Rooms in the smallish side but very well equipped!
Great staff. Amazing veg curry.
Great place! Brand new, great decor and lovely staff. I would recommend to go here and enjoy the relaxed vibe and beautiful swimming pool.
A very cool place to chill...I will definitely go back
Very clean! Perfect for having the best relaxing time in Jambiani. Recomand!

Ouch, where to start ... the hotel is simply super nice and it certainly looks much better live than in the pictures. The hotel has 3 * but in my opinion it deserves another one for sure :) of course there is no TV in the room, fridge, etc. but in such a place it is simply unnecessary. I recommend the houses that are situated in front of the hotel by the beach. You leave the cottage and you immediately have a beautiful swimming pool and all around the green and fine sand like flour, just a fairy tale :) the smiling and very helpful staff made the stay in this place even more wonderful. Breakfast in the restaurant may not be too abundant, but you have delicious fresh fruit (mango, pineapple, papaya) additionally you can order something based on eggs :) The restaurant is not expensive for a seafood platter with additives you will pay 13 dollars here and its really tasty all fresh and tastefully presented. Listen, there is no need to wonder if you are looking for a nice boutique hotel, I definitely recommend it to you ... we regretted that we were only there for 3 nights ;-)
The stay at the Fun Beach Hotel was perfect. It has very nice houses that are very clean. They clean every day. It has a good air conditioning system and good WiFi in the room (WiFi works perfectly in the area). The food in the restaurant is super good and always fresh. You can also order fried eggs for breakfast, its great. The pool is huge and clean / well maintained. The cocktails are super good and are brought to the pool. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We would book this hotel again in a heartbeat and can only recommend it.
Fantastic hotel! We are delighted. Praise is due to the cleanliness, the very helpful staff who took care of the guests, the location in a quiet part of the coast but also close to Jambiani and Paje, and the on-site recreational activities. In addition, a very large space, nice swimming pools and lots of greenery. Restaurant available on site good and prices not high. Drinks okay as well as breakfasts. I heartily recommend.
Notice to all future tourists.Yes, the hotel is pretty with its swimming pools, its little lodges and its setting. A beautiful postcard.Behind this beautiful setting I agree with the many opinions concerning noise, humidity and odor in the rooms. The staff are smiling and present even if yes, the few words learned in their language make us understand that it is only on the surface ... too bad.Watch out for telecommuting and other activities requiring stable wifi. The prices of the menu and cocktails are reasonable.Indeed it seems rather positive but we had a bad adventure when the addition after the massages. An additional $ 20 for massages compared to those selected and $ 5 due to the cb because the treatment center is independent from the establishment. I will be grateful to you in my comment for the way this happened but it detracted from the peace of our stay.SHAME.
The pool and the hotel can be nice and pretty! But the staff are just hypocritical, scam tourists! Very very disappointed! They sell us dreams !! As soon as we arrive we are offered massages at 30 dollars we Book massages, we are confirmed that we can pay by visa. On the day of the massage, I also add braids at 60 dollars. Happy at the time I leave tips to the staff! And when it comes time to pay we are told that it is no longer possible with a visa, and the price for the braids is no longer 65 dollars! Anyway .. the staff couldnt care less .. and no boss ??Because the massage center is not part of the hotel !! pfff .. !!Of course no apologies or commercial gestures or paid for everything!
Super nice hotel right on the beach with a private terrace and hammock and loungers by the pool right in front of the rooms. Very good international food and very courteous service. Trips are also organized by the hotel from dolphin tours to quad biking. Great value for money.
We stayed 5 nights at the Fun Beach and were quite disappointed. As soon as we arrived our room smelled foul, we asked the staff to spray some smells, but the smell persisted the entire stay and even permeated our clothes. The rooms are very humid and very dark. The mattress is very hard. There is no window in the bathroom and the hot water is hit or miss ...On the other hand, the exteriors are superb, the two swimming pools are simply magnificent and the sea view very pleasant. The games room (billiards, ping pong, table football) is top notch. The breakfast is not good, except the fruits (which you have to choose well). The pastries are dry, the coffee too bitter ...But the other meals are good and the prices affordable. The staff are generally friendly, apart from a waitress who was as rude to us as possible and a staff who likes to make fun of customers with a smirk.Ah yes, here the water is not free even at the table, except for the customers in full board ...The wifi works every other time and the connection is very bad.
Where to start .. the beauty of the hotel, the breathtaking view of the Indian Ocean, the kindness of ALL the staff .. warm welcome, staff always smiling, quality cleaning service, good value for money at the level of restaurant / barWe recommend this hotel, and if one day we return to Zanzibar, we will come back to Fun Beach.
The place is magical, the food is spectacular and the treatment with the unbeatable staff. The rooms are very complete and with pool space for you, there was a billiards game area, table football .... that needs a bit of renovation.I give it two stars (although I would give it one) because the smell of humidity in the room was unbearable, we had a terrible time. At night, despite knowing that there were mosquitoes, we opened the windows because we couldnt even breathe. At meals there were always cats hanging around your feet, for those of us who are allergic to the truth, its a chore ....
