Peter the host is nice and helpful. It should be made clearer on booking that the photos next to the beach are taken from the bar that is seperate from the rooms/bungalows.

Not nice. Rooms are not isolated so you hear everything outside so be ready to wake up at 6 with the rooster’s song. No hot water, swimming pool is super small so forget swimming. The beach is almost never available because of the tide so you have yo walk more than a km in the water to swim. It’s the minimum of comfort and the price is not adapted. Service and food are ok, people are nice, but that’s not enough, there are better hotels.

Good place, friendly staff with Peter really nice! Rooms are clean and the property is well maintained.Although it’s not located right on the beach but on the second row of properties the guests can enjoy a beach lounge bar area on the shore.The Wi-Fi is not great but it seems it’s the case in Zanzibar and if your room is facing the road expect to be awake early morning as life in the village starts at sunrise!

Peter and his awesome team welcomed me and a group of friends for an incredible 5 days of fun, sand , sun and outstanding service.The rooms were very comfortable and tastefully designed and we couldnt have asked for a better backdrop to enjoy delicious cocktails and food, whether in the Banana Garden or the beach front bar.I highly recommend staying here with friends or even your family. It is nicely situated close to neighbouring locations (if youre in the mood for exploring) and they definitely fit the bill if you want little to worry about while you kick your legs up and live a little in paradise.

First ans foremost for everyone reading this, this hotel is NOT ON THE BEACH as any person looking at the photos or scrowling down the description might understand. Booking says it is 8 meters from the beach and the description also says it is 50 meters from the beach. IT is NOT true! The accommodation is at least 300m from the beach and the BEACH BAR whereas everything in the photos and description lets you understand otherwise and is done purposely to make you think the beach bar and the accommodation are in the same place. The person welcoming us was very friendly ans welcoming and explained to us that some guests also complained from this disapointment coming this far to be ON the beach. We also had the chance to meet a family that was also surprised to see that and who understood exactly the same as us. When you see on booking 8 meters or 50meters, and looking at all the stunnig pictures you cant help but suppose that in Zanzibar, it means on the beach.Well for clarifications, you actually have to walk on the road for around 250m to finally encounter the beachbar and the accomodations are on a small house on the road of the village. This is not even close to clear in all the descriptions.Also when trying to talk to Peter (the responsible) to try and find an arrangement to cancel our reservation, and make him comprehend the big misunderstanding, there was no comprehension and no honesty from his side even when telling him that it was an honest mistake, that we were on our honeymoon on a budget and that taking all of our money (7nights) would be unfair considering that we really wanted to be staying right in front of the sand. I proposed to him to take 2 or 3 nights as a compensation but nothing came of him, explaining to me that it was a difficult time. Well sir on these difficult times, people help each other and try to fins solutions to make honest choices and try to understand the people that will make your reputation as clients. Because taking money that is not earned even in difficult times has nothing fancy about it.For all those seeking a perfect stay on the same beach but IN the sand, please just go for a walk in jambiani beach and you will find plenty of great and welcoming places with local people ready to welcome you on a budget. That is what we did!Again very very disapointed of this misfortunate experience.

On December 7th my friends and we’re robbed while we slept in our hotel room. A police report was made as well as a hotel incident report. Having gone back and forth with the manager/owner via email we were told that their insurance company had been contacted and we would be contacted with an update soon. The original reviews we posted (because the management seemed to careless about what happened to us and brushed it off as “it happens a lot around here, especially close to the holidays” have been online since December 9th. The owner has taken upon herself to respond (5 days ago) that (again) we are at fault for someone entering into our room through a locked door (that we had no key to mind you) as we slept and take some of our belongings. She now states that our experience as reported is a lie and we were “partying and smoking illegal substances” and that we should basically have been more careful. The evening of the incident we attended a movie night hosted at their beach restaurant. Now if watching a movie and toasting our friend’s birthday is what’s considered partying then by all means I will accept that. What I will not accept is second hand information being posted by an absentee owner. As I’ve stated before your establishment failed to protect us the moment that person entered our room. Perhaps we should focus on what kind of “partying” the security guard was doing that evening that led him to fall asleep poolside and be woken up by us after the incident? The owner keeps stating that “they” (as in her hotel) experienced and theft. Madamme Fleur you and your hotel DID not experience what we did. I was the one who woke up and saw someone in the room we’d paid for and we were the ones who had items stolen from us. What I’ve requested is reimbursement for the items that were stolen. That has not changed. What will also not change is me publicly posting about this experience seeing as you email me one thing and then do something completely different. Nobody is attacking your reputation nor your hotel’s. We have a right to speak up. And as long as you keep ignoring us and call us liars and blame us for the lack of security at your hotel, I will continue to share my experience. Rectify the situation and it will over with. Continue to lie and stall and I’m happy to join you for that ride.p.s we are all women. Perhaps if you’d read the police and incident report you claimed you provided to your insurance you might know that right?

We stayed 4 days / 3 nights as a couple in Zanzistar. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The owners and manager are French. It’s located in the middle of the the village, just cross the little street and you are at the beach. One of the most beautiful of the Island. Oh and the food is to die for, both at the beach house and at the restaurant.

Close friend who is currently staying at Zanzistar just posted about a harrowing experience. She awoke in the middle of the night to a shadowy figure lurking INSIDE her room. She, froze in terror and only woke her roommate once he left. They checked their belongings and found cash and a phone missing. Hotel management’s response, “..why didn’t you check if your door was locked before going to sleep..” and “how no one woke up or was able to open an eye while someone was in the room”. Mind you, their door was locked and the hotel “security guard” was asleep poolside just outside their room AND someone DID wake up while this thief was in their room. Women traveling are extra careful about security and this hotel is NOT a place for women travelers or any others concerned about their safety to frequent. I would give this facility zero stars but that rating isn’t available.

Wonderful Jambiani accommodation. We spent four nights in the beach front room and had a wonderful time. The food, drinks and service at both the beach bar and banana garden was great and kept us coming back for every meal. The lovely owners are friendly and accommodating, always making sure you have what you need. Theyve created a lovely boutique accommodation that we enjoyed for four nights on our honeymoon.

High end place, great service, awesome food (best so far on Zanzibar). Not easy to get vegan food around, but here they had a few good options. Prices on the upper end, but overall experience well worth the money. Definitely recommended!

Great place to relax! The rooms are lovely, with a small sandy yard and trees which are sometimes visited by the local monkeys. The restaurant and the beach bar are friendly places, the staff and the owners (Fleur and Martin) are always lovely and have a friendly chat with everyone. The guesthouse also offers a lot of tours around the island (though if you shop around with the touts on the beach, you can save the odd shilling). The restaurant is also well-run and offers Zanzibari cuisine with a French touch, with daily specials and a compentent use of fresh local ingredients. All in all a great choice to kick back for a couple of days.

One of our favourite hotels in zanzibar. Great food and nice hosts. All of the staff were super friendly and one of them even taught my girlfriend how to make a lotus flower out of a towel!! Zanzistar is like an oasis in the middle of nowhere.

One of the Best places to stay in Jambiani. There is a nice and small beach bar where you can spend your time reading and relaxing( try the brownie). Restaurant has a very nice athmosphere. Food is very nice. We had 2 dinners there and both were very delicious(seafood samosa, fish of the Day, seafood spaghetti and their speciality with raw tuna) . A bit more expensive than local restaurants but worth every penny. Rooms have their own garden, bed was very comfortable and water pressure of the shower (both Hot&cold)was very good.

Really I didnt stay at the lodge but only at the beach, but was so wonderful! I went for lunch and I falled in love, so quiet and beautiful, full of colours ... and what about food and smoothes? great!!!

Upon arrival at the GuestHouse we received a soft drink and a cool compress; we got a free upgrade, our room was very spacious, clean and equipped with enough fans (not to be underestimated given the temperatures). The staff was courteous, friendly and tried hard. Breakfast varied daily and was excellent. The upgrade also gave us the luxury of having a front yard with a hammock and seating. The beach is less than a minutes walk away, but due to the scarce shade there we were happy to use the propertys pool. We can highly recommend this accommodation. :)

A real haven of peace! We stayed in the Lagoon room (beach, ocean view) and everything was perfect! Zanzistar is an authentic place, where you will feel right at home. The rooms and common areas are tastefully decorated. The welcoming, benevolent, smiling staff ... Special mention to the two restaurants (the beach bar and the banana garden) which both offer quality cuisine for a low price! The hotel offers a very nice movie night on Sunday evenings. In short we will come back =).

Wonderful location, in a banana garden. The tables are on the sand despite the fact that the venue is not on the beach. Very romantic place, dinner by candlelight. The service is very good and pleasant. The atmosphere is magical, between lights and lamps under the gabled wooden structures. Yummy food .. Zanzi spectacular fish burger! And to try absolutely the tuna tartare on bruschetta. Semi open kitchen and very equipped.

An exotic place where calm, serenity and benevolence reign.There are few rooms which makes the stay almost exclusive. The staff are professional and during this period take care to respect barrier gestures. Do not hesitate 1 second to come here. Staff at the top (special mention to Simon and Peter who are exceptional like all the others) always very caring and good advice. 2 minutes from the beach with their own private beach! Great food and breakfast, lets not talk about it! Nothing to say about the bedding and the cleaning ladies come by every day if necessary! In short, go for it and hakuna matata :)

Top Guesthouse on Zanzibar in Jambiani on the beautiful east coast! The beach can be reached in 2 minutes on foot and it can be seen from the terrace. The kitchen is great, there is a pool, the rooms are big, stylish and clean. In addition a great team friendly, courteous staff and a European management. My tip: book and enjoy :-)

Charming, neat, excellent sense of service and hospitality. Its pretty and calm. Fleur and Martin are lovely hosts who take time to help you, advise you, guide you. Nice restaurant, including the one on the beach (very, very practical!).On the other hand be aware that you are here at the end of Jambiani: do not expect to go shopping without a taxi, be foreboding. But the place is worth the trip, really :-)

A perfect week in front of the most beautiful beach of Zanzibar. What a beautiful discovery that the Zanzistar, we booked 2 rooms including the lagoon (overlooking the beach and facing the sunrise, a show not to be missed under any circumstances). Upon arrival, you feel like home, surrounded by family and friends. In addition to the change of scenery, the rooms and public areas of the lodge (bar, beach bar, restaurant, swimming pool) are divinely decorated, colorful, and encourage relaxation. we quickly take a liking to polished polite life. The icing on the cake, we eat heavenly well, everything is fresh and homemade (bread until dessert). The atmosphere is warm, sweet, fun and festive We will add an extra note for the very local touch. We highly recommend visiting the village (ecotour).

I did not sleep directly at the hotel, but the bar and restaurant level offer is great. We went several times (our hotel was next) and we always eat very well and the service was good. Their little bar at the beach is nice, with light meals and super fruit just right.

At full restaurant you have to wait a long time for his food. 2 hours was our wait. Then came not all the ordered food. The apology of the owner: The kitchen was overwhelmed! There are better and cheaper restaurants.

Very bad restaurant! We waited 2.5 hours for our food and when it finally came, it was not what we ordered or it was partially burned. As an apology, only the small kitchen was called. When asked if there was at least bread, came a short no and that one should be patient ... Never again! Can only advise against it.

It was unreasonably nice and nice to spend time in Zanzistar! Beautiful rooms, dive beach, cheerful staff, banana banquet dinner, pleasant jazz playing at the bar and wonderful owners who are looking for the hottest welcome ... just to the detail its so nice to leave without text. Heaven on earth! You definitely want to come back here again!
