Itβs a very pleasant place. A hidden yard, with no sight of the road. We were not hungry and tried only fresh juices - were not disappointed. We were here in the evening after the rain. Humidity in Secret garden is very high, which leads to many mosquitoes π¦ You canβt hide there from them, the repellent doesnβt help for 100%. This is what we didnβt like about the place.
Perfect place for a date!Food& drinks: the menu is not very big, but it was enough for us to choose from. We liked everything we tried, except dessert platter was way too sweet for me.Good selection of cocktails πΉ recommend to stop by for a drink even if you are not hungry.Atmosphere: beautiful place that you can marvel at during the whole evening, light music playing on the background. The place looks rather fancy and the prices are above average.Service: the staff was helpful and sometimes even funny π wait time is ok.
Stumbled into this hidden oasis at lunch time, whilst exploring stone town, and were not disappointed at all. The greeting and service from the waiting staff was wonderful, and the food was beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. We tucked ourselves into a corner with some shade, and were later moved to a table near a fan, which was a nice touch as it was incredibly hot. I would definitely recommend it here, and would like to return in an evening to see what the ambience of the restaurant is like at night.
Just yes! Was awesome - worth the walk through the quieter streets of Stone Town!I would recommend as a lunch spot: green and shady. We had dinner (delicious! more expensive) and would go again - but perhaps would wear trousers: a few mosquitos nipping at the anklesβ¦ clearly no fault of the restaurant, which Iβd call a must!
Great Place, very mysterious and healthy delicious food. Must seen, if you like secret places. Kind of Buddha Bar spirit or better π
This place was recommended to us by English couple just leaving the restaurant. We had met them on the street and they strongly suggested to step in. Even only to see it. When we sow we have been sure that IT THE PLACE we will eat our lunch. It is really Secret Garden with miracles of taste and also pleasure for eyes. Interior design, look of the plates composition of spices makes the whole unforgettable memory for our visit in Stone Town. You have to taste it by all your senses. Not only see. Lobster with vanilla souse and vegetable curry were excellent. We love it.
Lovely views but the food not so lovely. We were served half cooked fish and octopus with the consistency of my leather shoe
Just fabulous...a beautiful place, so much character and soul... awesome people... luvly music... great food... thank you for a special evening xxx
I was curious why any place had a 4.9 rating. Chose to give it a go. Arrived after 9pm, less than an hour before closing. There was a private event going on but the Manager was nice enough to let us in and sit us in an ante room with a view of the events. The ambience was warm and natural, with the extra foliage around the ruins of the old building. The decor was deliberate, old antiques which added to the overall effect. The staff was particularly attentive even on such a busy night, apologetic about everything. They were also helpful in packing what was left of the food to go and walking us through the complicated alleys to our hotel. We were informed this escort service is complimentary to customers and wer einvitrd back for sun downers at the roof top seafood restaurant attached to the Emerson Spice Hotel next door. The food portions were generous, hence the to go bag. It was expertly and artfully presented in Arabian style, with spices and sides to compliment the main dish. The bread cover for the goat biryani was innovative. The Secret Garden cocktail was soooo refreshing, and well timed. The coconut chicken curry was also a hit with my companion. The music from the stage, was very entertaining and this was a bonus to a Wednesday night out. Recommended 100%
The secret garden at Emerson spice truly lives up to its name. Located within a open courtyard within the hotel the garden offers a relaxed and ambient place to enjoy an afternoon drink or snack and relax from the world. The food, drinks are aervuce were all first class only point of improvement was for bill to arrive earlier but we continue to enjoy the great location.... ..
I liked it very much. Prices are for tourists with money, so if you dont want to spend too much... Dont go.
We stayed here just for a few cocktails. Prices are a bit higher. For European people it is a higher standard, but the atmosphere here was awesome! After many days in Zanzibar it was a good change. If you want a classic cocktails like Margarita, Old Fashiones or Moscow Mule - you should go there:)I also tried a local one, it was twist for gin & tonic (with maracuja and chilli). Try it as well!
Gorgeous romantic place with amazing food and cocktails. Very attentive and welcoming staff.
A romantic hide away in a ruined look garden serving delicious food ...a beautiful creation by Emerson the late owner!!
Beautiful place for a drink with averaged prices. Would recommend!
Very nice, but average food to say the very nicest. If you are in Stone Town just one night, itβs a sin for this to be your only stop. Secret Garden has nice atmosphere for a drink.
The best place to eat or just relax and have a drink in Stone Town. The service is amazing, coctails are great and food super tasty. And all this in an environment that really looks like a secret garden!
Very nice national interior, good food
Awesome place! Itβs like you found oasis in this hot and noisy town.
Agree, that place is nice and cozy, but food is not tasty. Came here for lunch, took calamari and lobster. Calamari was deep fried and stiff, lobster - nothing special, however prices are rather high
Very good food! Amazing lomsters! Beautiful garden and very sweet staff π
Romantic and especially well-deserved at sunset.
Great food, great ambiance! Recommended!
Fantastic and magical place around stone town
Amazing food, great live music
Underwhelming, very small and limited menu.
Not to be missed while in Zanzibar. I still dream about the shrimp with vanilla sauce. I will be back :)
A must see and eat when visiting Stone Town in Zanzibar. Amazing setting and the food is delicious.
Service is good and food is great! The environment is beautiful and it is definitely a good experience.
We had a nice quiet dessert & drink evening here. Aptly named and picturesque inside. Prices reflect quality.
Great food in great ambiance. Located @ Emerson Spice Hotel ground Floor.
The place is close despite showing on Google that its open. We went there today and got informed by the spice shop nearby that it was closed.
Went for dinner. Good food, good drinks, beautiful location. Friendly but pole pole service
The surrounding is quite natural with high preservation of the architects from a fallen building
Magic spot! Delicious food
Absolutely a must visit when in Zanzibar. Amazing decor.
Beautiful space, food was just okay.
This is the place where you can hide from the noisy streets and enjoy the silence and incredible atmosphere, its like another world
Nice beautiful place.
Good food!
This is a magic place in the heart of Stone Town.

A litlle jam, cozy
Nice atmosphere
Stunning
Beautiful and the best
Secret heaven
The place is so beautiful and peaceful. It feels like founding an oasis in busy and crowded streets of Zanzibar city. The food was great and well presented. We tried the seafood coconut curry and prawns, both were tasty. The staff is also friendly. You can pay in USD or shilling / and cash or card as well.
Lovely lunch in beautiful garden courtyard. Bring mosquito repellent or ask for some
Best ginger late Iβve ever had and the place and staff are just great
Just an oasis of beauty and coolness among the hot and crowded streets. Delicious food, fast service for Zanzibar, very attentive service. We paid 80,000 shillings for two, although the main dishes were 25,000 each. I really liked the cold coffee with ginger, the dessert is also interesting. Go to the toilet and on the way you will see this old house from the inside. Unforgettable flavor of the East.
The place is magnificent, very green. The food is good but very expensive. (20/40 euros / pers). Very little choice on the menu. Provide mosquito products.I could have put 5 stars but after paying we waited for our change. The boss apparently felt he shouldnt give it back to us. We asked him, it is with resentment that he brings her back to us. We would have liked to have the choice and not impose a quagmire on ourselves! It ruins everything! So we left with our money.
Great restaurant, very welcoming and caring staff. The dishes are very good and served in an original way. To try . Also the setting is really nice.
I would not go back, we reserved a table in a certain place and when we arrived they put us in another place. They served other tables before ours and that they had arrived later (it takes about 30 min to serve the food). The food is good but nothing spectacular, it looks better on the menu. Many mosquitoes !!
A charming place, we enjoyed a real moment of pleasure and relaxation. Good quality traditional meal and warm welcome. An almost obligatory stop in the alleys of stone town!
Very nice place, green garden. Lots of mosquitoes !!!Food very expensive and poor. Dry tuna, too fried and I asked rare!Lobster the size of a large shrimp. We got the wine not the one we ordered.I generally advise against.
No one ever got so much out of a ruined building. Very friendly staff and rich food although small portions.Tourist prices but the place is very curious and worth it.
A slightly different coffee shop, I think the secret is to get there, a different environment and a nice place to drink local coffee or tea in the middle of Stone Town, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the prices are reasonable.
Original, very original: the ancient / colonial atmosphere was perhaps a little too pushed, to the point of giving the impression of eating among building debris ....Cuisine without infamy or praise.
