Its nice and busiest cafe in the heart of stone town. You will find out all kind of chicken, mutton/lamb, beef dishes under one roof.We tried chicken and prawns biryani and we liked it.As Indian I can say theyve authentic tastes and their jayka(masala) is the best.I recommend to try their prawns biryani.

Right next to the more famous and reccomended Lukmann, this one we stumbled upon by accident and were swept away. Great (mainly Indian) food, particulary large selection of great curries for very affordable price (arround 10k TZS). Also some amazing naan breads, like the one with garlic. Staff was friendly and fairly quick, at least for Tanzanian standards. The place is clean and their service are amazing.

A bit expensive, but its worth a visit for their fried mixed rice, which is exceptional! Chapati and fried calamari are also quite tasty.Staff is nice and friendly, tho the service is quite slow (30+ minute on a week night with only a couple tables occupied).

Good mango lassie! I recommend ordering your food extra spicy (I did so and really enjoyed my dal, however for the vegetable curry we did specify to put it more spicy and it missed a bit taste). The ciabatta are good! Overall recommended.

I came here twice for take out. First time was a chicken dish, similar to a curry but with a dark not too liquid red sauce, nicely seasoned and with some fresh herbs in the sauce. Second time a baked cheese in a sauce that was very similar to the first one though the name was completely different. Food was really good however and smelled amazing too. I felt it was Indian cuisine from the name.Price was ok, when you consider it’s a really big serving. I added some fresh lime juice at home… perfect! The restaurant next door is a bit cheaper and very busy, but after taking out food from there I had some tummy issues.. I wouldn’t go there again but I’d buy here again any time.

Among the best Indian food Ive had. Tastes like a hybrid of the best of Rajasthan with its own unique Zanzibari flavor. Probably the most perfect level of spice that comes out of the kitchen, where its heat that opens your tongue to flavour but doesnt overwhelm. Its a must visit. The staff and owner put their heart into their work.

Because we really want to eat crabs, we went to this Indian restaurant asked for crab dish. The boss said that we will prepare the fresh crab for you tomorrow. We feel quite unsure whether it will be delicious or not. After eating it, it is the heaven! The taste and the sauce is fantastic! The crab is extremely fresh. It can be the most delicious sauce crab I have tried ever. Highly recommend! Although lucmann is very famous but they didn’t sell crabs. If you want to try crabs and love Indian curry, you must try this special dish! You need to order one day before. The naan is also terrific.

Without a doubt the best food in Stone Town. After trying numerous places in the town which were all very disappointing I wish I had discovered Ma Shaa Allah Cafe sooner. Top quality, fresh seafood all cooked to order with plenty of flavour and authentic spices. The curries and chilli prawn are stand out dishes. Service is friendly and very attentive. Highly recommend.

Amazing place for the best indian food in Zanzibar. And very affordable. The owner Yaseer, born and brought up in Zanzibar is wonderful and so is the food. We had a very interesting chat while the food was being prepared. Being an Indian I am choosy of the meal i eat, especially indian cuisine, but hands down I can vouch that this is the best restaurant in Zanzibar and one of the best biriyanis and butter chicken i had in my life. Will visit again for sure. Thank you for the jovial chat and delicious meal.

This place is so overrated and overpriced. We ordered grilled king prawn we got 3 pieces of medium sized prawn and the rest is fried potato... We wanted to pay in card, they wanted to charge us in dollars in a rate lower than anywhere else in Zanzibar, so that instead of paying $23 wed be paying $27 and they explained that by telling us thats their own exchange rate there (!). Be prepared for ridiculousness...

Best meal our whole trip in Zanzibar. Naans are beautiful, though chilli cheese naan needs a lot more punch. The most disgusting place with absolutely NO COVID regulations being followed. Ordered a variety of meals, placed kids order first and asked for it to be brought when ready. Meals took over 40 mins and magically arrived seconds after we started to fuss. The crispy prawns and tempura calamari were both soft and soggy. When I asked the waitress to please fry more because of the above reasons she actually started pressing the calamari to double check if what I was saying was true. I nearly passed out from 😲shock. Needless to say I jumped up and marched myself and my family out of there whilst the staff looked at me dazed and confused. No one could understand what was so upsetting to me. So yeah, refused to eat or pay for the meals...another shocked and dazed situation. In these Covid times I am quite concerned about their lack of cleanliness but seems Im the only one.

Pretty expensive compared to their neighbors Lukmaan where we went multiple times. The staff is not super friendly, service is as usual in Zanzibar pretty slow. Beware its cash only place. We only figured it out only after we had a meal. Rude management told us that we HAD to ask about payment options before we ate. But overall experience was mleh.

Delicious and affordable food. I tried the coconut seafood curry (4000 tsh), beef pilau rice (5000 tsh) and puffed bread (500 tsh). The coconut curry and rice were delicious and full of flavour, and the bread was soft and comforting. The pilau is very different from the pilau found at local eateries in Dar, so try it even if youve had pilau before. The service is quick if you order from the prepared food. The waiters are friendly, but it was after speaking with three waiters that I found one who can recommend me a dish. I wanted to know which was the most popular rice and curry dish and the servers kept saying all of them, which was not helpful at all.The major complain I have is that the food is not warm. It is served cold and it is very difficult to eat cold rice or beef. I asked for it to be warmed up, but they returned the cold food back to me 10 minutes later. I guess the microwave didnt work. But it is certainly a major concern to be served cold food, especially from food safety perspective. If it was not for the cold food, then this place is definitely 5 star.

Our expectations were high given the ratings so we were a bit disappointed. The staff was indeed very friendly but service was slow. We sat down at 5:15 and received our food at 6:30. The prices were low, which is a big plus but the food was mediocre. The curry was quite tasty but the tuna was undercooked. Our other two dishes were underwhelming. It was very average but the staff was kind and the price was fair.

We visited this restaurant (2 adults and 2 kids), based on the reviews I had seen here. It wasn’t hard to find but as other reviewers suggested - staff were friendly but service was incredibly slow and the place has no real atmosphere. At one point there was only us at the restaurant but it took 40 mins to bring just three dishes and 25 mins for juice. I ordered a chicken korma (which I never usually order) but it was not good at all, it was so bland (won’t be making that mistake again). My husband had the rogan gosht (his favorite), but the lamb was fatty and there was little flavor. The kids had the kofta which actually was the best. We are sticking to our usual fish from now on.

Not as good as Luukmans next door and slightly less authentic. Ma Shaa Allah is more of a sit-down place, and the service is pretty slow, to the point me and my friends were a bit concerned about missing our ferry back to the mainland. The tandoori chicken and the Zanziberri smoothie, however, were good enough to earn this place its fourth star. The decor is OK but definitely not anything special.

Located right next to Lukmaan - where Luukmaan once used to be, Ma Shaa Allah Cafe at Mkunazi Street, is a welcome addition to Stone Towns very affordable food options. Food is kind of Indian with a dash of local flavours, so expect curries, very delicious naan bread (very much recommended) to be ordered from a menu if you are up to a waiting time of 30 minutes and more or go for the buffet-style options when in a hurry. The team has earned a reputation for their friendly and attentive style, the ambience is functional rather but pleasant enough. A good sample of food for four plus beverages left us all in all happy with a bill of approx 60.000 TZ. The only real minus was the juices and smoothies that ranged from super nice for a simple mango juice to okayish for the avocado version to pretty bad for the so called Koko Cooler that was spoiled by a obviously unsuitable pineapple. Hopefully, this was just bad luck.
