Rather small museum, but interesting place to check if you are here
Too expensive to go inside. But I loved Freddy so only took pictures from outside.
The site is nothing else than a house certainly, and in addition it is not possible to visit the one that hereally lived in. But it has its charm to get there, walk its streets, and think about everything the singer experienced in this picturesque city. Nowadays it is a hotel, of not very high quality, and next to it there is a small museum which we did not get to enter.
Appartments are related to Tembo Hotel but are situated outside the hotel. In diferrent location. Ive rented appartment for 2 days and not a hotel room with purpose. I had my birthday and met new good local friends and friends from other countries on the internet and I wanted to have possibility to invite them in the appartment that I have rented to celebrate my birthday party. I assumed that renting an appartment gives me such possibility and specified number of guests to 4 people and actually paid for the appartment for 4 people. But when we came, guys from the reception told us that it is forbidden for non-residents to visit the appartment. I tried to explain them that I paid for 4 people and there are 4 of us. Ive rented an appartment not a hotel room with purpose not to have such kind of issues. We gave on the reception 2(ids) of 4. Other 2 guys forgot their Ids.Guys from the reception explained that guests could steal something from my or other appartments and its forbidden. I responded that if they steal something from me then its my responsibility and I trust my guests. Also I asked why there were no info that guests are not alloowed. And still I paid for my guests staying I rent appartment for 4 people. Also I asked to show the list of hotels rules and the exact rule that it is forbidden for guests to visit an appartment for a few hours. As I expexted there was no such rule. But still they didnt let us in.I am totally disappointed to be honest. I am expecting that when you are paying about 300$ for 2 nights you as a customer should not face that kind of issue. Or at least that rule should specified somewhere to avoild such kind of situations. My birthday party was ruined because of it.Because of late checkout and polite staff the I rating 3 of 10, otherwise it would be 1 of 10
Staying here for a week. Lovely apartment with an epic history!
Very nice place. The service is good. But it is not the real appartments. Usually they ask for the id or documents to come to your appartments.More the hotel way of business. Actually Ive choosed the place like an apartments. And I believe to ask who is my guest it is not their business.Clean and nice place. Too loud outside, sometimes annoying, not a good sound isolation
If you are a big fan of Freddie, you should see here while in Zanzibar, I have seen childhood photos that I have not seen before.Anna guided very well, she answered all our questions.
Tickets are expensive - 8 dollars per person. Inside there is nothing special.
The house is quite well curated and lighted. For all the QUEEN fans out there, it is definitely worth the visit.
We didn’t do the tour, just took pictures outsides his house. There were a lot of people outside looking at his house and taking photos. It’s also a nice starting point if you want to explore the stone town // old fort.
Cool retreat that appears first when coming from the ferry. The place is frequented by many tourists that come to get some cool in the shade of the reed roof and the breeze from the beach. Menu and service are great but are on the international price level
One of my favorite place in Zanzibar ❤️ Freddie Mercury
Nice but very small. Only takes a few minutes to go through it. Slightly excessive but not to bad. Staff very friendly.
Its legit and authentic. Is there else to do here, think about him and remember? Not really unless dodging folks trying to sell you everything and the kitchen sink.I am disappointed that I shaved my beard and didnt leave a mustache to take a picture with :(
Its embarrassing how little respect they have shown to a legend of his size. Basically its a door, with 5 texts about Freddy, not possible to enter, nobody you could talk to or get some information is near the building. Pitiful
Cute, small, but nice to visit while in town.
So nice this place
Only can see the outside .. not much exciting!
The shortest visit you could ever done...There’s a door with 4 papers explaining he’s lived in Zanzibar and that’s it...Nothing more to do nor to see.. Because you can’t enter...I saw it, I took a picture, I walked away...Do I recommend it... ? Well you just lose more time reading this ... Don’t change your plan for this...
Cool place, very Main Street, most vendors are overpriced and inside locals have told me most are drug addicts trying to get by. A good area to take a quick pic and leave.
Nice place and museum very enjoying
Freddie Mercury has never seen this house, because he had left much before they built it!! 😂😂😂 Inside the building there is a hotel where people pay for sleeping in Freddie Mercurys home. Even tourist guides show this building as Freddys real home.A BIG LIE.It is a mockery of the people. Zanzibar with centuries of true history does not need a lie to attract tourists.
This is the historic place in stone town where the king of pop music was born known as freddie mercury, now has become a popular with tourists, there are some picture which show freddie mercury from childhood and singer
This is just a hotel / inn that Freddy mercury stayed at after he got famous. It is not where he grew up - in case there is any confusion. This is just a door and display that talks about his life. He did in fact grow up in Zanzibar.
Awesome place to visit. It has the vibe and charisma of Freddy Mercury. You cant afford to miss this place when youre in Zanzibar.
Souvenir shop in there. Can buy African style souvenirs, Queen-themed T shirts, caps etc.
......Not much to see here! This seems more like a Shrine In Remembrance of a Zanzibarian Who became World Famous! Still it was and is always something special to see and be here in person! ....worth a Photo here to take home nothing else!......
Very beautiful place.
Amaziing!!Staff and services were perfect..The facility is very big and clean, located in the heart of the town!Amazing experience everything was just perfect
Small museum dedicated to Freddy Mercury, at the place where (according to locals) he used to live as a child.
Over rated! Can only enter if you are a guest at the hotel! But then thats one way to keep the tourists out..
Cool to see the house but you cant go inside unless you stay at the hotel.
Wasnt inside, so give four stars to this place)
The must visited placed in zanzibar for Queen fans. Easy access from the port, near shopping center, and a lot of cafe.
It is just good to know and see where the great Freddie has lived as a child.
Lovely to see, particularly after watching Bohemian Rhapsody. I was hoping for more in terms of a museum though.
Good tour in stone town streets
Its a nice place to visit while you are in Zanzibar, especial when youre in STONE TOWN.
A decent hotel in the heart of the city. Freddie mercury does not live there anymore
Cozy appartment ..great service, great location
It just a room with printed pictures from internet
Nothing special;)
Awesome history. Great to be able to see this place of a Queen 👑
Unfortunately, there is not much to see. Not possible to go into the house. Much more could be extracted from the place. But it should be looked at.
It was a bit noisy to sleep. However e great experience.
Freddie Mercury was a man of the people.
If you are in Zanzibar, you must visit tbe House of Freddy Mercury!
If youre not staying at the hostel you cant enter the place
Nice place. But need more tourstical exposure
Well FMs childhood home is an expensive hotel now apparently.
Our first best holiday nice apartment
Work hard
Very vague.
Probably someone make a hotel in this house. There is nothing interested accept a few posters.
Was great,i had taken some pictures
The servis take too long
It was his childhood home. Its exactly what youd expect.
Freddy was born here in Zanzibar.Great for queen fans
Iconic home for one of Zanzibar biggest icon Freddy mercury
Nice
Beds are rather short.
It is just a door. No tour of his old house.
Magic
Right now it is only a sign outside a building...
Just a house. Some photos. Only for true worshippers
Very nice food, the staff friendly
Not much to see. No freddy feel.
Amazing ...so rich in history
Nice to to know his bsckground.
Nothing special, house like many around
Not really what i expected, just few postere and souvenirs.
Im not sure it was real Freddie Mercurys.
Not Freddy Mercurys house.
Must visit for a Queens fan!
Zanzibar is a beautiful holiday destination.
