Gloomy and not a safe place. located in a green area with lots of animals. we booked a garden bungalo which was not isolated with holes on the floor and under the door, so we were facing baby black mamba, scorpions and huge cockroaches in the room during our stay. Lots of coconuts on the hotel palms which drops during wind could easily kill. Toilet was broken and was not possible to sit on it. To move to a safe place on the beach we was charged 70 dollars. The new place had a broken air condition. Breakfast was all the same during 21 days stay with a kid portions. The territory is full of trash and nobody cares.

Very nice location, but poor management, went for breakfast and swimming at the same time, thats a hell of a new experience.I couldnt tell the difference between the swiming pool and the dining room, the roof was leaking and the breakfast wasnt one of the best, no toilet paper in the rooms, but the beach is nice and makes you forget about the money you paid for the services tou paid for!

Upside: very good value for money, great views from the pool and restaurant, the staff is very friendly and willing to help. The rooms: size, equipment and cleanliness is just ok.Downside: the restaurant, which had high prices for the quality of the food, the location is far from the closest village and you need to drive there.Overall Id say its a good place to stay.

It is a nice location but the rooms were not in nice condition. There are no hand towels, provided towels were stained and shower drainage was blocked. Provided buffet choices were very narrow. If I pay £15 in UK or 15€ in Germany, you will get very wide of choices in all you can eat buffet places. But they charge $18 and choices are very narrow.Although I am not happy with the hotel facilities, I will not find fault in staff. They were very friendly and worked hard to please the customers. Everyday beds were arranged beautifully.Hotel told us they are restoring the hotel but they should pay closer attention to the huts/rooms first before making them available to the customers. No drinking water available in the room. I dont think the tap water is drinkable in Pwani Mchangani.General note about Pwani Mchangani: If you are relaying on ATMs, there are no ATMs anywhere around that place that you can use VISA or MasterCard. You need to go to Stone Town. Taxi about €25 or local Dala Dala 1500 TSH. We learned it in hard way by spending all the money before withdraw something first :)

Nature 5 stars. The hotel staff are sleepy flies! They dont move without a kick. But they want the dollar. The owner of the hotel does not want to do anything. Everything is running. Plumbing, lighting, WiFi network from a pocket router, which the helpful girls from the staff constantly turn off or hide somewhere. Tired of arguing. The hostess does not have $100-200 to buy a normal router. The network was out for 1-2 days. Failures there (point to the interior of the island). Breakfast is a separate issue. 11 days is the same. Fried egg, bread, diluted mango juice in a plastic cup. A piece of tiny mango and a piece of watermelon or papaya. A warm drink like coffee, but only a cup of coffee. Sad and sad. It would be better if it (breakfast) was canceled altogether. The nature and location of the hotel - GORGEOUS! But no owner...

A hotel for a relaxing stay and thats great! There are no discos, loud music and noisy companies here. All houses are located among the incredible beauty of greenery, flowers, palm trees ... At night, lemurs run on the roofs. Cleaning - every day. Guards (Masai) are on duty, outsiders do not enter the territory. They left a camera on the beach, telephones - everything was ok, the guards were on guard. Barkers even do not have the right to enter the beach, they look out from behind the stones, asking you to come up to them. At low tide, it is incredibly interesting to walk to the reef, on the way to see the marine life: sea stars (there are exactly 5 types of them here), fish, hedgehogs ... there is a pool, which pleases at low tide. They invite a local specialist to remove coconuts from palm trees on the territory of the hotel, you immediately get the freshest coconuts for free) Breakfast: mango or papaya juice, coffee, scrambled eggs, pancake, salad, fruit puree, pieces of fruit. They react to all comments immediately. There is a restaurant, you can order lunch, dinner. The price for two is an average of 100 thousand shillings. You can order a hookah. The staff are lovely. The local lads from the beach - 60 thousand (must bargain). They will bring both alcohol and fruits, through which you can rent a car, 25 dollars / day, and excursions ... But the car will be more interesting, more convenient and cheaper. The light in the hotel was turned off 2 times in 2 weeks - for 5 minutes and for 25 minutes. Safe in the room, locked, everything is ok. There is an air conditioner, a fan. There are no gels or shampoos)) Not far from the beautiful Blue Fish cafe, you can go, or you can order delivery to the hotel, free of charge. The average price for two is 60 thousand. And our opening is a little further behind Blue Fish - a restaurant behind the local market, on wooden piles, something like King sea food - the portions are huge, you can take it for 4, incredibly delicious, napkins, tablecloth, cutlery, sauces on the table. Young lads drive, the price for two is on average 40 thousand. Fruit for juices is taken right there on the market, mixed as you wish, as you wish. We asked for something like bread, they quickly ran to the store and served us. They cook for a long time, but its worth it, there are no semi-finished products, everything is freshest) you need to understand that this is Africa! This is not a service from Egypt or Turkey, where you can wry your nose that the soap dish is of the wrong color, the shampoo is not banana, but vanilla, or the handle on the door is broken. Everything is much simpler here and thats the beauty of it. Locals study, try to do their best, but remember that they live by the principle of hakuna matata) so you need to relax and have fun)

I want to tell you about my acquaintance with the island of Zanzibar and the Coral Reef Resort 3*.Hotel Coral Reef Resort 3 * is located on the shores of the Indian Ocean. It is from this part of the coast that you can observe the beautiful phenomena of the ebb and flow of the ocean, this happens every 6 hours. White sand, nature is paradise! The hotel is quiet, beautiful interior design, houses. If you want to spend a quiet and relaxing holiday: romantic, family, with children - you are in Coral Reef Resort 3 *! there are no loud discos - there is only a full lounge! We chose this hotel because it is far from everything we are used to and we wanted silence. The staff is very friendly, kind. Meals: we had breakfast and dinner (we spent lunch time on trips to prison island, blue safari, spice farm). Breakfast was pretty much the same, with a choice of dishes for dinner. You have to wait for food because it is prepared for you and when you come (everything is fresh, very tasty: tuna, chicken, octopus, shrimp, rice, potatoes) there is a complete absence of semi-finished products! Many thanks to the guys from the hotel for the reception: Thomas, Aksa, Witnis. Prices: coffee with or without milk - 2 ye. beer 1 bottle - 2 ye. Cola -2 ye. if you order food separately from 7.5 ye per serving to 12 ye (portions are very large). there are no TVs in the rooms (by the way, the locals believe that television is evil: illness, devastation - and here I agree with them 100% ). Wi-Fi is available only near the bar (where the concept of the Internet is not very developed at all points. But we solved this problem by quickly buying a Zantel SIM card for 8 days 6.5 GB of Internet, the price is 18 USD. We asked us to pick coconuts on the territory of the hotel. The staff invited a person who climbs palm trees to pick coconuts - we just gave this man a tip.As for the island itself: there is another world beyond the equator and it fascinates. If you want to learn more about something, take the locals as guides, they speak Swahili (native language), but the second English, there are those who speak Italian, French, Russian. There are many guides who are from Ukraine (they speak several languages), but they follow a memorized program and if you want to know more, they usually do not give answers. As for the currency: there are two types of currency: local shillings and dollars (it seems to me that all small dollars are here :))). cards are practically not accepted anywhere, there are problems with ATMs (more or less in Stone Town this can be found). The highest rate is at the airport, where you can immediately exchange the required amount (to make it easier to navigate, 10 thousand shillings is $ 4). Everyone bargains with the locals, but it’s more pleasant to bargain with them than in Egypt or Turkey). there are many different fruits on the island, you can take everything with you except coconuts. Huge fruits are sold by the piece: a mango costs 1 ye. pineapple 2 to 4 (depending on size), avocado 1 ye, papaya 2-3. bananas 4-5 (this is not kg - this is a branch from a palm tree). jack fruit about 6 ye. Lobsters 1 kg (these are 3-4 pieces) about 30 bucks raw (you have to pay someone to cook them).

Given that the period in which we stayed is low season (we were the only guests), the structure was under staff and undergoing maintenance; for us it was the first time in Zanzibar and our need was to have a base (food and accommodation) to be able to explore the island. As soon as we arrived, Clea, the manager of the structure, welcomed us, a charismatic person, very nice and full of energy. He always satisfied all our requests. We stayed in the beach front houses (all strictly with a classic thatched roof) with the possibility of seeing the sunrise in the early morning directly from the window.Housekeeping was done punctually every day, clean towels and choreographed fresh flowers on the bed. All beds have mosquito nets. The rooms are very spacious and equipped with mini bar and air conditioning.Handmade wooden furniture of local manufacture, simple, functional and typical furniture of the place. The structure has a very nice large swimming pool and a common area with bar, sofas and tables near the beach. The food has always been very good, abundant fruit breakfasts and sweet and savory dishes, lunches and dinners based on local products (mainly chicken, octopus, rice and potatoes), every day we had the opportunity to choose what to eat from the kitchen. To bear all our requests there was dear Sam, always ready and attentive to any need. A really kind and helpful person, we were very impressed by his goodness.I could talk about the wonderful beach, the low tide that marks the rhythms of the inhabitants to fish on the coral reef or cultivate algae, the friendly Masai who watch over the structure at night and accompany and play with tourists during the day; I could really tell a lot of things, but it is right that those who come to Zanzibar discover these enchanting and timeless places day by day, letting themselves be transported and accompanied by the inhabitants of the island who, living in absolute simplicity, we discovered to be really rich people in the soul.Personally I believe that the east coast of the island (where Coral Reef is located) is the most beautiful part to stay. Actually on the west coast the beaches are wider and the sea is less affected by the tides; however it is more built and tailored to the distracted and hasty tourist (at least as regards the places we visited). In conclusion, I can only recommend this structure which, in its simplicity, met all our expectations and made our experience unique and wonderful.Special thanks to Clea who really helped make us leave a piece of our heart on the island, with the hope to see you again very soon

A normal hotel for unassuming tourists. Beautiful, green area, magnificent ocean. During low tide you can swim in the pool. Meals are modest, Wi-Fi is not constant. But the main reason to visit this hotel is the attractive price in comparison with others. If you do not look for cons but enjoy your vacation, the hotel is acceptable. Hakuna Matata

Nice good quality hotel. Large green area with a difference in height, a nice pool, a beach with gorgeous white sand and palm trees. There are enough sun loungers on the beach, on the left, local guys sell fruits, souvenirs, excursions, do massage, henna tattoos, you can order food that is prepared in their village. Their prices are good, bargain. The hotel staff works great 👍, great. On Sundays, the bar hosts a Masai show, a small show. The Masai are also responsible for guarding the perimeter of the hotel, are at the entrance and are on duty on the beach. Rooms are large, cleaned daily. In some places the plumbing is worn out. There is no refrigerator in the room, you can rent it from the manager. Is there a safe in the room. Our room on the 1st line had an air conditioner + a fan in each room. Drinking water is not provided. There are beach towels, issued against a deposit. Low tide a little more than 1 km., During which you can walk to the reef to see sea stars. Masai or local scourge fights will take you to the reef for a small fee. On the territory at night you can see the Galago animal, they specifically scream, but you need a flashlight to find it. The minus in the hotel is the scarcity of breakfast, if the situation is corrected, it will be generally cool.

Wonderful hotel, quiet and peaceful. Green and well maintained. During the time spent in this hotel, and we rested in the month of December, I was glad that we stayed here. For the entire vacation period, we took a car and drove through the entire island. The car was taken from the local Massai. Were on many beaches. On the territory of Coral Reef, the beach is clean. Service staff are attentive, caring, though a bit slow. The hostess Laura is a very cool woman. Friendly . We quickly found a common language with her.As for the breakfasts, I can say that after the GOA, these are quite good breakfasts. This is not Turkey 5 stars where everything is included. We went to the sea and the sun, we got it and a lot of adventures and impressions as a bonus !!!

Above three, well, nothing. Briefly. Besides eating at the hotel, it is an option to take a taxi somewhere. On foot - it is at least 30 minutes to a cafe (not a restaurant) bluefish. If at night, then on an unlit road. The location would be nothing if something could be bought within walking distance (water, bir, etc.). The ebb / flow is interesting only for the first couple of days as exotic, but not very swimming. The rooms are simple. Refrigerator $ 6 per day, and rent for at least 6 days ... wildness, despite the fact that the manager is Italian. The very territory of the hotel is 5 points. But they did not find anything better than Kendwa on the island, and this is 35 km by car (rent $ 20-25 per day)

I rested alone in January 2021, lived in a house at the very last level from the ocean. Houses, a bar, a restaurant, an African-style reception, it was interesting to live in a hotel with suchdesign. We arrived in the evening, settled in right away, Masai helped carry the suitcase, opened the door, turned on the light. The house is bright, sunny, clean, dry, renovated inside, fresh whitewash, light tiles on the floor, wooden furniture, large bed, new mattress, new plumbing, everything worked, safe, air conditioning. From the living creatures in the house I saw ants and a lizard, someone rustled on the roof and in the corner of the room))). Water and electricity were constantly on, only one time they turned off in the evening for about 15 minutes, but a good flashlight saved me. The territory is large, like a park, beautiful, a lot of greenery and flowers, stone paths, illuminated at night. The hotel staff is friendly, always smiling, helping to solve minor issues. The waiter brings breakfasts, very meager and monotonous. I liked home tea very much, they brew ginger, cordamon, cinnamon in a thermos. When I asked what kind of tea it was, the waiters kindly showed the bags of spices and found a description on the Internet. Wifi only works in the bar, but very weak at times. The ocean is beautiful, I got into a period when the tide was in the morning and late in the evening, so I could swim in the afternoon. The lagoon is not deep, there is a small current, the bottom is even, clean, without sea urchins, they are farther where corals begin. I walked far and left and right along the shore (there is a house on the water, this is the Jetty Lounge restaurant, you need to book in advance). The sand is fine as flour, white, if you go to the left along the beach for fruit and have dinner in the village, it is better to wear shoes.

Double impression of this hotel. Large green area, detached bungalows, a small number of people, the first line, the ability to see the low tide for 2 km on your own beach. Sometimes walking through the territory you feel like you are in the country, at home. But there are also disadvantages that spoil everything in the rooms, there is nothing except a bed, a few chairs with a table, clothes hangers and a mini safe. They have not been repaired for a long time either, moldy walls, broken plumbing, leaky nets on the windows, everything is old and torn. The room is very stuffy, the fan was not turned off, it helps a lot from the heat. The food was good, they took breakfast and dinner, breakfast was primitive, but everyone was full. Wait for breakfast for about 30 minutes, wait for dinner for 1-2 hours and this is no joke. Regarding the beach, if you want to swim, then this is possible only at high tide, sometimes a lot of algae is thrown onto the shore, they are cleaned on the sand, but they remain in the water. In general, decide for yourself.

A terrible hotel that lives its own life, a field without repairs and cleaning of the territory. The attitude of the staff is disgusting, the cleaning lady is constantly rummaging around in the personal belongings, there is no safe either for the money or at the reception. There is no reception either. Rather, it was built, but does not work. On the first day, my nike shorts were missing, which I left by the pool deck. Nobody knows the business.Instead of mattresses, squeezed foam, spiga falls off in the morning. Charging does not charge devices due to low voltage in the network. This place was once very beautiful, but only beautiful plants remain. The houses themselves look abandoned and need repair outside and inside. Sewage pipes are clogged in the shower, they are not cleaned well. There is no internet, breakfast is not tasty - only an omelet or icing to choose from. Two pieces of fruit, but they are not fresh and sour. Unpleasant manager - when we had a backpack with the keys to the room in a nearby restaurant - we were forced to pay a $ 180 fine (and the reception at the hotel does not work and it is impossible to leave the keys). Barely redeemed for $ 90. All this is very unpleasant, but it could be tolerated for the sake of a beautiful sea. But unfortunately, due to strong ebbs it runs for 2 km and all day you see only a sandy desert. In the evening, the waves wash away a lot of algae and it is unpleasant to swim in them, the water is hot - as if you are bathing in soup. I do not recommend settling in this place ((

Very old structure needs a serious renovation. Polite and courteous manager and staff but not enough. Wi-fi almost non-existent, available only at the only bar of the structure through a prepaid bar, more than five people cannot connect, in practice if you can send two or three messages after a couple of hours of waiting, thats a lot. The restaurant was initially less than a canteen, then with the arrival of mr. Jumba the new manager has changed radically. You eat well fish, meat and other than the usual pre-cooked pastas that also trim you in resort grains, here the quoco has prepared handmade fettuccine, pappardelle, strozzapreti and really good gnocchi. There are no umbrellas on the beach, only wooden sunbeds and ropes with mattress, shaded spots under the trees.

I wanted a relaxing vacation and I chose Coral Reef ...It is small, has few rooms and everything is close at hand! The availability of the manager DANIELE and the assistant MAUA are the strength of this place! If you need not to disconnect from the rest of the world, ask Maua for the cellular card and Wi-Fi, you will also have it working at Nakupenda 😂The rooms are simple but comfortable, and clean, if I had to recommend one however I would recommend the beach ...They changed it in the middle of the week at our request, since one had been released (108 😍) ... because you get out of there and you are immediately on the beach .. and what a beach!(I will never thank you enough Daniele and Maua 🤗)The food is very good .. I feasted on fresh fish and fruit !!The staff is easygoing, they are all really nice and helpful. The Masai are also of infinite sweetness (Lorenzo, Luca & co❤️)I did the Excursions with both the beach boys and the resort staff, but since the difference is a few euros each or nothing, I always went with OSMAN and CICCIO, the PRESIDENTs excursion staff !!!Osman ❤️ is very well prepared and careful not to miss anything!Always bring spare money because they deserve a tip here !!Certainly the Coral Reef, being a 3-star hotel, does not have all the comforts but if you want to spend an unforgettable holiday in nature, have direct contact with the locals and experience a holiday like you were with your family ...Well ... then here you are in heaven!See you soon guys ❤️

My boyfriend and I after booking for Coral Reef were a little disappointed with the reviews and decided to change. We talked about it and we thought about what we wanted from this vacation and we realized that we were not interested in things like: ants, geckos, a cleaning that you can lick the floor. We are going to Zanzibar! we thought that the purpose was not to have a whirlpool in the room and champagne on the bed, but to enjoy this wonderful place as much as possible and hope to find a village that could reflect the place as much as possible, not the standard we live in every day, otherwise Im home!I immediately felt at ease, the people are all polite and helpful and Micaela, the director, was immediately very nice. The food is great, we ate very well and we lived the holiday as it should have been. Ants, not many, but we gave the bush babies bananas outside our window, enjoyed the sunrise and sunset and the waves of the sea and the locals were always kind. 5 stars not only because it is correct for what you spend, but also because it was what I wanted and it gave me so much more than what I would have expected.

Hotel for 3 *. They feed very little. There are no refrigerators in the rooms. Not all air conditioners work. Each room has a ceiling fan. There is cold and hot water. They dont put bottles with drinking water in the room, you have to buy. Soap, a small piece, was given once. I also had to buy. Shampoo is not given. Dirty towels and stained bed linen - do not change. In the evenings, there are many mosquitoes outside. There is a mosquito net above the bed - they always slept under it. Small lizards are running around in the room. There is an ebb and flow. The sea is hot (end of November). Heat. There is a swimming pool. There is no entertainment. The nearest village is 20 min. on foot.

The staff are very polite and try very hard to please you.The hotel itself is not big and (in our time) 20 people in total were accommodated in it.Food selection is small but portions are large.Wi-Fi is designed for the number of connections, so when there are a large number of people at the bar, it is difficult to go online. The sea is muddy and with algae due to ebb and flow. The beach is not cleaned of algae. The water goes away for more than a kilometer. There are no entertainment programs.Music plays from the bartenders phone (quietly). There are no nearby restaurants along the shore.Exit to the left and right along the bank is possible only at low tide (if the water arrives, you wont get to the hotel)There is no market in the vicinity of the hotel - you can be content only with what is in the hotel (at the appropriate price). The relaxation rest was certainly a success. But I wont go to this hotel for the second time.

I spent at Coral Reef Beach the week from 15 to 22 March 2017. The property is located in a lovely place, the rooms are in ethnic style, many lack the fridge. The rooms are well cleaned, no bath products are needed except for mini soap bars. The sore point concerns the restaurant which is absolutely insufficient both in quantity and quality. Tour operators then sell the package of drinks as -all inclusive - while in reality only soft drinks are included so that in the end you also pay for extras.

Probably a good hotel for that kind of money .. considered one of the first in Zanzibar, so old houses that are slowly being renovated. Cleaning, changing towels every day. If you leave a tip, they twist the swans out of towels. Also, in the evenings, the canopy is lowered in the room and treated with insect spray. But there were spiders in the room (yes, they lived there)), ants, cockroaches, once a Scalopendra crawled ...Wi-Fi is only in the bar, weak of course and does not always work .. it also happens that there is no light in the hotel during the day, not often of course. The hotel has 2 guides offering excursions 2 or 3 times cheaper than the tour operator, but the guides speak English, Italian and of course Swahili. Now they are starting to learn Russian, so they speak a little. We talked a lot with mr. Thomas is a very funny and cheerful guy.It is far from the hotel to shops, you need to take a taxi or ask the guide to stop at the store after the tour, or walk 3 km to the nearest one. The Maasai and various vendors constantly pester the beach. Suggest to visit their store, go on an excursion or go to the reef. We went to the reef on our own, found a path and walked along it almost to the end of low tide, but it was difficult to get rid of the annoying guys who were running after you one by one ... We talked with one of the beach guys, usually walks in a red T-shirt, their name is Abby ... We took him a full day excursion to several places with a Russian-speaking guide. Guide Shaban speaks good Russian, went with us for fruits, souvenirs - in general, I liked the excursion.Compared to the hotels nearby in the coral reef, the beautiful coastline is convenient to go into the water. The hotel offers African cuisine and live entertainment on Sundays.

The hotel is a weak C grade. There is practically no service, which is, in principle, typical for Zanzibar. A big plus is that there are few people.

It was clean and spacious, and the staff responded right away when called, the breakfast was okay, and most of all, when I left the room, the sea right in front of me was the best. It was a unique and unforgettable scenery to see the Maasai who were walking on the sea in the distance before the sun came in.The downside is that the water pressure is very low and the drain is well blocked.

I returned from this fantastic place a few days ago and sincerely regretted going away. I found first of all An amazing welcome and unusual, he did not pass one day that every person you greet EVERY DAY with a smile on his face, all very, very helpful x whatever would serve between tips, food and information. The food was always excellent (CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CHEF FACTS FAMOUS OF PERSON) And if something ended, or it was enough to ask and then you were prepared for something else, or it was enough to stuff myself with other things. 30-40 and all the other people who work there. We did the excursions with Othman (from the resort), very well prepared on practically everything, very good with Italian and English, a very nice and young person whom I hope to meet again one day. The rooms were cleaned every day, wi-fi a little poor but guys, lets talk about Africa, not some super city !!! I recommend it to anyone who will read this review and know that my holidays went so well only xk those who work in this place gave heart and soul ALWAYS

Zanzibar is lovely.Stayed at this property in March 2018.The location is excellent, but the structure is very neglected, common areas not cared for, some bungalows are in pieces, all inclusive promised but not found. It looks like a structure being closed. Excursions to be made absolutely with the Beach Boys, good Alessandro.

We have only been to the restaurant.Average experience, a buffet for $ 10 per person where you can not sit at the table where you want but where the waiter sticks on the one next to the entrance with a view on the wall.Food enough, with (in the middle of service) several dishes already sold out.

All a beautiful fake. When we arrive at the hotel, everything is released. Its a scam dont believe anything about these fake comments. The structure falls apart. More than 8 people moved with us to the Palumbo reef. Where obviously there are no ants in eating. Why being in Africa is not a justification. Being dirty and shameless to defraud people is another matter. And in my house its called Mafia.

Wonderful welcome, kindness, availability and many smiles from a staff that on many occasions I found extremely patient. Quiet place for those who like to relax, Sandra is a wonderful problem solving in our critical situations. Clean rooms and excellent service. Not loving binges or self service to the bitter end, I enjoyed pleasant new, interesting, good food. Outside there are not too many places for those who love social life and more lively. From forgetting that we are in Africa and not on the Adriatic so many complaints I found extremely unjustified, I personally recommend the Coral Reef and the tours (all) to see the infinite wonders of that place and understand much more.
