We have just returned from a six day trek to Uhuru Peak via the Machame Route and it was the most magical experience, largely due to the brilliant guys from Ashante Tours! We came with the fantastic Global Adventures team, and our head guide from Ashante Tours was Musa, who has to be the coolest dude in the world! The guides and the porters were all kind, polite, totally trustworthy, knowledgable and had a wicked sense of humour. We were well looked after throughout our trip, and to this day I cant figure out how a chef can cook food that tasty at that altitude! He is a total legend! We also liked the fact that the porters seemed well looked after and our tips evenly distributed among them. We got the feeling that this is an ethical company who cares for its employees and if for no other reason, it is totally worth supporting them for that. Keep up the good work guys. Ashante Sana. We booked a trip up the Lemosho Route with a UK Company locally and when we arrived we were greeted by Mussa from Ahsante Tours. Mussa and his team including Elias and Albert (the waiter) were just the best guides and hosts we could wish for throughout our 11 day trip. The Tanzanian way is pure hospitality at its best and their English is blooming perfect. All I can say is thanks Ahsante Tours and thanks Mussa, Elias, Albert and the rest of the team of porters.... there cant be many jobs harder that a Kilimanjaro porter!!

We just returned from an amazing trip to Tanzania with a stay at the Weru Weru River lodge between our 8 day Lemosho trek and 2 day Safari, including a cycle tour our first day to the TPC sugar plant and through Moshi all put together by Ahsante Tours. Ahsante (Holyfield our rep) was great to work with from the first email sent and through the whole time we were there, he met us the day we arrived at the hotel and 2 more times after that to interduce our guide and then driver. All the employees were friendly and we felt so taken care of every where we went. Our mountain guides Mussa and Gaspa were great company and full of local plant and animal knowledge, we talked the whole trek. Nuru kept us full all the time and I have never eaten so much good food while hiking! Frenk (AKA. Meru) was the best at getting us what ever we needed, tea, water, food, you name it he got it for us. The rest of the porters were so friendly as well while we were on the mountain, everyone worked so hard on our trek. We never had any big issues and the little issues were taken care of right away. We loved the new tent we got to sleep in! We made it to the summit and it was the most amazing feeling in the world! We took a 2 day Safari and Jorden was our driver, we could have not been paired with a better person to spent 2 full days with. We talked a ton and he knew so much about the plants and animals and on the 2nd day he made it a mission to find us some Rhino’s, which he did. We left with so many memories, and pictures to remind us of this trip for the rest of our life, Thank you Ahsante! We will tell everyone to contact you for their trip, and if we make it back for Mt. Meru or another trail on the mountain we will be booking with you.

My husband and I used Ahsante Tours in March 2018 for an 8 day Lemosho Route ascent of Mt. Kilimanjaro and for a 3 day safari afterwards. I highly recommend Ahsante Tours. Michael and Derrick were our guides on Kili. Both were professional, friendly, spoke excellent English and were very knowledgeable about the route and safety. The crew was also great. Our cook served us ample food at every meal and it was delicious. We found the accommodations with Ahsante on the mountain to be more than sufficient, our tent may not have been a top of the line, brand new tent, but it fulfilled its duty in windy, rainy and snowy conditions. No complaints! We reached Uhuru Peak just after sunrise - what a great experience! We would recommend Ahsantes safari as well. It made it very convenient to work through one company for Kili and safari. Our guide, Elvis, was phenomenal. He was exceptionally knowledgeable about the wildlife and environment of the parks we went to. He spoke excellent English and was very friendly. The accommodations at Karatu Forest Camp were beautiful, clean and very serene. The staff here were also very attentive and friendly. We were pleasantly surprised at how great the food was at Karatu Camp - delicious! Would not hesitate to recommend Ahsante. It seems they treat their staff well and we were happy to support a Tanzanian company.

I can not praise the team at Ahsante enough! We did the 7 day alternative Lemosho route when hiking Kilimanjaro as a private tour which was incredible! Not only was the scenery beautiful, but our guides and porters were truly wonderful. They went above and beyond what we ever expected in terms or service. They catered for all levels of fitness in our group, by letting us split up amongst the 3 guides each day, so that those who wanted to walk faster were not held back by those wanting to walk at a slower pace. The team were extremely high spirited and sang and danced with us almost every day of our hike.If you are considering climbing Kilimanjaro a highly recommend that you consider Ahsante. Their prices are very reasonable and the level of service is outstanding.

We had a truly amazing time with one of the most knowledgeable, attentive, respectful and fun guides--Salvatore! Back in 2016 I summited Mount Meru with Ahsante Tours and couldnt fault the trip. Guides extremely knowledgeable and professional, porters and cooks also so. Very friendly staff who would do anything for you. I had an amazing trip.

We went on a 3 day safari, 8 day Lemosho route Kilimanjaro climb and a cultural coffee tour. Everything was exceptional and I would highly recommend Ahsante Tours. Attached is the sunrise from the summit of Kilimanjaro 5,895 meters. In the words of James Cooper, It was the vastness of the view, the nearly unbroken surface, that contained the principle of grandeur. The beauty was to be traced in the delicate tints, relieved by gradations of light and shadow, while the solemn repose, induced a feeling allied to awe.

A friend of mine and I decided to do the 6-day Marangu Route to summit Kilimanjaro with Ashante Tours. In this review, I would like to emphasize our experience with Ashante Tours, as there are many blogs that describe the trail itself.The whole experience with Ashante Tours was great. From the information previous to our depart and the reservation process with the administrative team and namely Kevin, to the night at the Weru Weru river lodge, to the actual trekking, summiting and coming back, everything roled out as smoothly as possible.I would like to thank with all my heart our main guide, Karim and our assistant guide, Emmanuel, for all their thorough support, information and good times we had in the mountain. They have also been essential to safely cheer us up and bring us down in the summit day, which was toughter than I previously expected. Every day, Karim would give us precise instructions on what to do or not to do, making sure we were always up to date on the trekking plans. Also, the crew members, Jimbrod and Gaison, were really helpful and timely and our cook, Evarist, made some delicious and easily digestible food all along the way.The down sides that I could point out are: the WeruWeru lodge is somehow isolated from the city and has expensive dinner options. Consider checking availability on other lodges in the city of Moshi. The tipping process (that can rise the price of the tour on more than 15%) could be a little clearer. We were not sure on the size of the crew and therefore on the total tip we would have to give until the beginning of the trekking.Lastly, these down sides are in no mean harmful for the experience that we had. They are just suggestions for someone who wants to do the tour with Ahsante Tours and for the company to improve its procedures.Achieving the summit was one of the most important challenges I ever faced in my life and I thank Ahsante Tours and specially Karim and Emmanuel for the rich and safe experience. Definetly recommend the company and our crew for others adventurers!

I went on an 8 day Lemosho trek with Ahsante Tours, led by excellent guide Alex and coordinated with Kelvin. The booking process was quick and smooth, with excellent communication and a team that was very accommodating to my requests and last minute booking. I had a good stay at the Weru Weru Lodge, though you should note that its not in town so youll be stuck there -- this worked really well for my case, since I asked my airport transfer driver to show me around Moshi before heading to the airport on the way out. Regarding the on-mountain experience, the guide was extremely competent and gave us good information, the crew seemed well-equipped (though if you read Henry Stedmans guidebook, it was a little hard to pin down all of the information regarding the porters that he recommends asking for. It seemed to me that information changed because circumstances actually changed rather than because of dishonesty, but it would have been better if Ahsante had provided a list of the names of the crew right at the beginning. During the trek, four of the porters also descended, two due to illness and two to accompany them -- we met the ill ones but never met the ones who accompanied) and was extremely profession. They seemed happy and did a truly excellent job supporting our climb -- one of the porters even ascended to help me walk the last 1/4 of the descent from Uhuru Peak back to Barafu base camp because I was exhausted. The food was generally good. Everyone in our group made it to the summit, and the guides did a truly excellent job making sure we made and made it safely!On the whole, I unreservedly recommend Ahsante Tours for your Kilimanjaro climb.

Prior to this trip, we did thorough research and spoke with a number of people; all of which came back to Ahsante. Every communication with Abel was professional, clear, concise, and valuable.The Ashante team operated like a well-oiled machine. Every member of the organization knew us by name and which part of our trip they were responsible for managing. Our drivers were on location on time at the airport w/ a name card, at the hotel to collect us for our trek, and at the foot of the mountain to take us back as planned. We had the opportunity for a brief w/ our tour manager, Abel, when we arrived. He went to great lengths to explain in detail exactly what to expect for our climb and every other aspect of our stay in Moshi. We asked several questions all of which were adequately answered. We were provided w/ supplies where we were lacking for our trip. Every element of our trip worked like clockwork. It was reassuring to receive this level of excellent service.Julio our guide for the trek was outstanding. Conversational, patient, thoughtful and an all around great human being. His love for his job translated into the care he took with us. He gave us great guidance going up and down. He made climbing enjoyable.On the last day of our stay, we were treated to beers by the team. The environment was homey and we felt like part of the Ashante family the day we arrived. A return to Moshi w/ the Ashante tours is definitely in our future.
