I provide Pamoja Kilimanjaro & Safaris my highest recommendation. I climbed Kili with Richard - owner of Pamoja Kilimanjaro & Safaris - years ago. He was an excellent guide working for another company at that time. I am thrilled he has established his own locally owned company. A few years ago, I was in Tanzania for 8 months and he and his team planned several excellent adventures for my many guests. I felt like I was being on tour with an experienced family member. He is trustworthy, knowledgeable and patient. He did everything he could to ensure that our Kili climb was safe, that during our safaris we saw as many animals as possible, and that we had the tailored adventures we wanted. He worked hard to accommodate our many changing requests and because the company is locally owned we were able to get tours of sites not typically available to tourists. I cannot stress enough the importance of working with a company that is honest and committed to safety - Pamoja Kilimanjaro and Safaris is that company. And, for me it is important to support local people in these endeavors.Over the 8 months, I got a chance to see a lot of Tanzania. I recommend - Ngorongoro Conservation Area - most people see the crater, but there is so much more to see. The crater is a must, but I also found Olduvai Gorge interesting and while some think visiting a Boma is too touristy, I liked it and it helps support the local economy. Serengeti of course is a must. I also thought the long drive to Lake Natron was breathtaking and the scenery alone made the trek worth it. This time around, we just did a couple of day hikes in Kili and it was worth it. There is something really healing about hiking in the mountain.Since my stay in Tanzania, I organized summer study abroad experiences for 3 years. Each year we worked with Pamoja Kilimanjaro & Safaris for all of our transportation and tours. Richard and his team always delivered. They were reliable, attentive, skilled, personable, professional, and he and his team made our summer learning a positive, transformative experience for all.
