Nice place, beautiful garden and nice pool. The rooms were quite large and the staff helpful and friendly. We spent few days away from crowd and noise. Matemwe is the perfect choice for those who want peaceful time. Good food also and the report quality price its a fair one

The view is amazing and the rooms are clean and tidy. The hotel manager greets guests every day with a smile and is always ready to help in any situation. The food is good and the tours we bought met our expectations. I recommend!

Ive been here in the past and Ive come back for the feeling you have that youre standing right on the beach, right by the ocean... but now everything is completely changed... the resort is run by a European team and you can see that. The food was delicious, breakfast with fresh fruit and an incredible mango juice and the seafood was a delight. We were helped with the trips we wanted, airport transfers and the COVID-19 test... Thank you for everything and well be back

Very nice place to spent vacation. Rooms are big, clean and report quality price is ok. Yard is big and the staff is very helpfull and nice.Small problems with the electricity but it seems to be in all Zanzibar

Amazing location, perfect view over the ocean and Mnemba Island. Realy nice beach with umbrellas and sunbeds. Rooms are big and clean, couldnt fault anything. Staff always helpful and smiling, special thanks to Hussein and Christopher!

Old hotel with arrogant manager. The garden and pool are nice but the hotel is old, at least 30 years. It has not been renovated and in spite of maintenance there is a depressing mood around them. The manager is very arrogant, our lock was stuck and my wife asked for help, he told her that she shouldnt be there, that her husband should complain. If you respect woman dont go there.

Unfortunately we cannot award negative stars because this location would proudly qualify for minus 5.Since our arrival we realised that we made a very big mistake in selecting this location which was actually a group selection .The room had an AC unit but only for design cause actually this was not working since a long time ago and they quickly fitted an 1970s AC unit half outside half inside making a hole in the wall .Water was running 70% of the time and sometimes only cold .No fridge initially in the room,where the temperature during the day reaches easily 40 degrees,but after 4 days they managed to move one from some unlucky guest room.Electricity ran out almost every evening fot couple of hours with a lame explanation that there is a problem on the island even though the other side of the property which belongs to a local owner had no such issues.Moving forward somebody from the group asked to have towels changed at least DAILY OR AT EVERY 2 DAYS,and the owners replied that this is a 2 star location and the towels will be changed at every 4 5 days...Breakfast which was included in the price was a joke of a very small 5 cm piece of omelette and 2 pancakes and raw fruits 3 small pieces every day for 14 days...We had the odacity of asking for the morning of 1st of January,after the NYE party to have the possibility to have breakfast until 12 ,which was considered unacceptable and ofcourse denied...The pool water contaminated the kids got sick since the first days,not finished as in stairs not built just partially...The cleaning staff was the only working people there that i cannot complain about at all,very elaborated cleaning every day treating the rooms for mosquitos every night .The location geographycaly speaking is accordingly to everyones desire,so i canntdecide whether is good or not,during the day the water is gone due to tide and the beach is 99 % wild with no beach club or whatsoever but the sand is very white and fineVery close to this location is another hotel ZANZIBAR QUEEN,where we spent almost all the time when we were not in some trips or another part of the island.Zanzibar Queen amazing location with amazing people traying to do anything to keep people happy and they managed 100%.So as a conclusion i would stay away from this location which would make any hostel in the world look like a 5 star hotel.Pentru proprietari,de la parvenitii care v au bagat niste bani mult prea multi in conturile firmei desi nu merita va uram succes in continuare dar daca vreti sa faceti ceva acolo incercati sa va depasiti conditia si viziunea ingusta si renuntati la tepe si daca tot ati inchiriat locatia de acolo si vreti sa faceti bani investiti putin din ce incasati si ridicați locul ca nu sunten singurii care au fost nemulțumiți dupa cum se vede in review urile primite,chiar daca o familie s a plans de grupul de romani ca faceau galagie si fumau la masa,grupul acela platise 150 usd pe camera pe noapte nu 50 de euro cat era normal si cat platisera ei ....

Great location, right on the beach ... a very quiet place where you can relax at will ... you feel like time is running out ... everything seemed great to me from the very friendly staff, the delicious food, especially the fruits sea, the courtyard of the specific palm tree and the swimming pool where you can spend a quiet afternoon, the hammocks where you can feel the ocean breeze while reading ... it has sunbeds on the beach from where you can look at the infinity of the ocean ... it is definitely a place as we have imagined for our vacation.

The worst hotel ever! Never go there!First of all it is placed in the part of the island where there is no water during the day, on top there are lots of vegetation, which makes it impossible to swim.The place has lots of electricity issues and water issues every day a few hours off, and than wi-fi not working, AC neither.The rooms are very ugly, old, nothing to do with the pictures.the bathrooms are horrible. AC makes a terrible noise.The pool isThe worst was that i left one bag outside, at the restaurant area and it disappeared with 100 USD inside. Apparently there are cameras, but nobody checked and no one took the responsibility.On top at the end they made wrong calculation for the extra food we ate, they wanted to charge us 100 USD more, i discovered when i manually calculated all the bills, plus there were extra charges we never had but they didnt accept it .The breakfast is every day the same, very raw fruits worse that you could find in Zanzibar, a small omelette and some pancakes, when we asked for some gem they said they dont have any more.Worse experience ever, never recommend it! DONT GO THERE!First of all, I come down to your level to respond to that message full of lies and infamies. Yes, I spent more than 120 per night in the conditions when in the same period (after New Years Eve) the booking was 60. I think you know very well that there was no New Years Eve made there, you had it organized for the locals!Our towels have changed once every 2-3 days and thats because we respect water conservation, especially on this troubled island.Unfortunately for you I work and I have courses in Sustainability and SDG, so I could not forever, out of morality and ethics, ask for towels twice a day.How can you tell Im lying that my bag is gone? Do you think that for $ 100 and a bag of raffia I could have done that?Shame on you!!!!I should have called the police, but I felt sorry for those people who are starving, and maybe because of the salary you pay, I get such actions. Why werent you able to check and demonstrate on camera? Do you have the courage to show the cameras how I left the bag on the chair and who took it?As you have had problems with stealing, you will have more !!! Everyone was talking there, that money was also stolen from his room and foreigners were talking for much more than 100 dollars.Yes, I maintain my opinion, I have visited over 35 countries and I have been to many places, but nowhere have I seen such a bad and misleading management. And here I can say that it is really clear that it is typical Romanian !!!In the 14 days I was there, I did not see anyone enter the ocean water in front of your hotel, except the locals. You should read the rating of the beach compared to the others to visit.Good luck in this business, but I tell you from now on, you will not succeed !!! Ive never seen such a stupid and low-key response from a hotel (and btw: for me its the smallest review ever given to a hotel) !!

Its two hotels in one. Actually totally cute and perfect if you want peace and quiet. The staff was friendly. Only Christopher, the manager, spoiled our vacation. We got a room in the baharini villas for the first week. Which I booked. Every day he came and said we should move to the Mambo after a week. We refused. He then canceled our room. We looked for a new hotel. I wanted my money back because we didnt have a room anymore and I paid for the entire stay. After over a week I still didnt have my money and we went to the police to get our rights. Other guests also said that they were stolen. I do not recommend this hotel.

Experience terrible, quite often without EL and water. It seemed to me that as we paid for the accommodation so they stopped caring, they did not give proof of payment, arrogant manager, line staff (except for one he tried unfortunately was not still there) do not come here. the only thing that is nice is the surroundings
