The service is nice but the food is not authentic , they lie about good indian food and they served us lassi. Their lassi was old yoghurt mixed with sugar and not authentic lassi. Very disgusting and disappointing in the name of Swad its yuck
Try the dish POTHICHORE. From swad Restaurant. Only some sundays they make it.
Nice Food, serving till midnight
Excellent authentic Indian cuisine at very reasonable prices! I was in Dar from Jan 2006 to June 2011 and Swaad became one of my favorite places to eat out.Try the boneless Chicken 65 or Dry Fry Prawns as a starter -- ask for spicy or mild depending on your taste.(Note: most of their dishes are quite large -- even their starters. If hungry avoid Lamb Rogan Josh -- it is tasty but there is hardly much meat in it).Meen Pollichathu is an excellent marinated fish cooked in Banana leaves -- its yummy!Unlike some other restaurants, most of Swaads dishes are rather large -- typically for 4 people I would order 3 main dishes and one Chicken 65 as a starter (plus naan bread or rice). Also important to note they serve alcoholic drinks such as beer and wine -- some places in Dar do not serve any alcohol -- ask before booking to be safe.It is a clean, open-air restaurant with overhead fans -- at night wear long trousers, long sleeve shirts and mosquito repellent. Mosquitoes are not a problem most of the time but can be pesky soon after the rains. Make sure that as soon as you sit down you ask them to put some mosquito coils under/beside your table.Regarding Dar many of the non-tourist restaurants (such as Swaad) actually price their prawn dishes at about the same price as chicken or lamb... fresh prawns are cheap in Dar... so if you enjoy them, go for it!
Very friendly staff food was amazing
Located inside Upanga Club. Casual dining with South Indian flavours. Service is efficient and prices are reasonable.
Swaad now got two out lets. One is in mlimani city and another one in badminton club upstairs(Down side open area is not swaad) second floor.
