We were robbed at the hotel by the service. when we left for dinner, we closed the door, and in the meantime the room service was ready to prepare the room for the night. we had $ 600 in our wallet, $ 200 was stolen. When we reported it - the manager did not care at all, we were dismissed, no compensation was offered in the form of a free dinner whatever. we dont expect it but beware at this hotel they steal :(

We had dinner at the restaurant of the hotel and it was the worst experience in Zanzibar so far. The food was tasty, but it was a really small portion at a rather high price. The service was slow. They told us we can pay with credit card, which did not work, because they don’t use payment terminals, but a mysterious online payment service where you have to enter all your personal information. Payment was then blocked by security mechanisms, I guess.

We stayed for 2 weeks in Fabruary 22, fell in love with the place the moment we arrived. Staff are very friendly, rooms are clean, food I would say average and very limited (we ended up going for dinner to other places or ordering pasta when nothing is tempting on the menu), breakfast is very very basic (on a tropical island you would expect getting a fruit feast on breakfast) but we had to ask for certain fruits to be served when their platter has only watermelons and bananas!I would suggest if they have some sort of anything going on like live music nights, BBQ.. and maybe some board games and card available int he main area as you might get caught in a tropical rain one evening like what happened with us (the guests had to stay trapped under the shelter for few hours). The music playing in the back ground was Adele and ed sheeran!!! Why would anyone want to have this playing in the BG in a holiday on this heavinly place?? We kept asking them to change the music to some local African music or turn it off.I dont want my review to be harsh because we really had a great time, even with all the above I do recommend the place and might go there again :)

The place is amazingly beautiful with a nice beach. Individual cottages with enclosed boundaries. Staff are very friendly especially the kitchen staff. Amazing chef who took our orders and made them as per our preference. Truly a barefoot paradise!Pool is small but very well maintained. We were lucky to be the only ones in the pool.Open bathroom is something different. Only thing is that bathroom gets messy really quick coz of the leaves from the trees.

Ever watched the movie Night at the museum?...Well,our stay here was like starring in that movie. It was quiet during the day and very loud in the evening. We learnt that theres a tavern of sorts very close to the hotel, which is where the noise was coming from(not the hotels fault, but something to consider before choosing to stay at Indigo). The first night was a complete horror show, we were exhausted and all we wanted was to get some sleep, but we couldnt as we were woken up for turn down service around 10pm,but that wasnt even the worst of it...We battled to fall asleep as the room had very light curtains which allowed light from outside to come through(ended up making makeshift curtains using towels) .The food offering was not very exciting & the quality depended on who was making it...there was no consistency at all, theres also no a la carte menu and their meal times are VERY strict. When we arrived we had just missed lunch and were not able to order a snack to keep us going until dinner. Also, the lunch and dinner prices are very expensive in comparison with other hotels and restaurants around the island (10-12usd per main course) and with only 2/3 mains to choose from, we ate elsewhere most of the time. I honestly didnt like that theres no bar and that all the drinks are prepared in the kitchen out of view of the guests. Indigo is unnecessarily overpriced, which is strange because their rooms are really basic...ours had a mouldy smell and the shower had problems(water heater was falling off the wall, water pressure was terrible and a faulty shower head). The price really didnt match the accommodation(like I mentioned before, really basic) and the bed linen wasnt really clean. Also, there were cats running around the restaurant and that was beyond disturbing for me. Cute as they were, I really prefer to eat where there arent animals jumping onto the table. The staff was absolutely wonderful (especially Agnes) and were the highlight of Indigo. Everyone was so friendly and they made our stay pleasant, however, we would not come again based on the above. If you are looking for a quiet place to just kick back, relax, do nothing and unplug...then this is for you.

We arrived to Indigo Beach hotel on 18th February at 10pm, tired and hungry after a long trip. The hotel had no food to give us, saying they closed the kitchen. I asked for some drinks and they managed to offer us a bottle of white wine. We booked a 1 bedroom bungalow villa on the beach and were shocked to find out the villa had no air-conditioning, mini fridge, glasses, closet, hair dryer or TV. We asked for some ice for our wine but the hotel didnt have it.There was a big cockroach walking in the lobby downstairs, and we went to sleep starving as the hotel didnt even have peanuts to give us. Around 5am a cat walked in the villa as one wall is made of reed and has a hole at the bottom.Next morning we asked for a refund but the hotel didnt accept it, and its manager Margot told our booking agent she will not waste her time coming from Stone Town to the hotel to talk with us. End of day 1 hotel gave us a mini fridge and a ventilator.Everyday breakfast was served from 7:30am to 9:30am and you cannot get food later. Coming to breakfast was stressful and tiring as on a daily basis there would be water, coffee (only African, not Italian), cutlery and food missing. Local staff was nice but poorly educated in dealing with guests and running a buffet. Food was super basic (no ham or cheese) and depending on who would be in the kitchen when ordering omelette with bacon sometimes they would serve us a portion that wouldnt feed a 3 month baby. One time we ordered an omelette and waited for 20min. After asking the staff where the food is they said they dont have any bacon as is in the freezer. So we had to wait another 15 min to get plain eggs.Cleaning staff was keeping our used glasses and plates for days in the room or on the fence of our villa. We never could understand how it is possible to come and clean the villa and not take away used dishes. We had only one sun-bed for days from our arrival, although the hotel is situated on the beach. There is also no outdoor table or chairs although the villas have their own private courtyard. All in all for the really high price we were charged we were extremely unhappy staying at Indigo Beach Hotel and wouldnt recommend it under such terms and their rude manager Margot.

Stayed here with my fiancé in Nov 20. Lovely decorated hotel with a stunning pool. We were also given a free upgrade to a sea front bungalow from our budget double room for the last few nights of our stay which was amazing. The breakfast was the best we had in Tanzania so far.Sadly there are a few things that we were disappointed with - the food offering is very sub-par, no a la carte menu and very strict meal times. When we arrived we had just missed lunch and were not able to order a snack to keep us going until dinner. Also the lunch and dinner prices are very expensive in comparison with other hotels and restaurants around the island (10-12usd per main course) and with only 2/3 mains to chose from, we ate elsewhere most of the week. The atmosphere of the hotel is also very strange - quiet and no area to socialise enjoy a drink at a bar as this is all prepared in the kitchen out of view of the guests. Water is also a very high price and considering other places 5 min walk away offer free water... The beachfront is also probably the worst we stayed at on the island, not the hotels fault but something to consider before booking. The staff were absolutely wonderful and definitely were the highlight of Indigo. Everyone was so friendly and no request was too much to ask for, thank you so much!Overall our stay was pleasant, however we would not come again based on the location and poor value on food offering and atmosphere. If you are looking for a very quiet place with not much happening but friendly staff, then this is for you.

Great place to be if you want to be in touch with nature. Staff are very friendly and always willing to help.It is important to note that there are no TVs or intercom for the rooms, this is however very intentional based on how they want it to be.I didnt like their breakfast buffet menu, but they have got great stuff should you want to order off the menu. They can also prepare stuff for you even if its not on the menu.In all, it was an awesome experience and will definitely go back.

This was the best holiday we ever had thanks to Indigo beach. Hotel has clean rooms with affordable prices and villas that are more exclusive. It is perfect place to relax and just chill. Staff is so friendly and welcoming and the food they cook for lunch and dinner was amazing! After few days in our room they offered us the villa that was vacant at the moment with no extra charge! This made the people who manage Indigo number 1! The ambiance is true paradise and I dont have enough words to describe how amazing staying there was. Will go back one day for sure!

We had a very good time at Indigo Beach Hotel. It started with a warm welcome from the staff and a spice ice tea. As it had stormed the night before and the hotel lost power, they offered every guest free lunch, which also applied to us. So first thing we sat down and enjoyed their fresh juice, free cookies (tea, and coffee) and à la carte lunch. The restaurant is very nicely designed with a lot of attention to detail. The staff speaks good English and is very friendly.ROOMWe were upgraded to a beach bungalow and our luggage was directly brought to the room when it was ready. I must admit that I wasn’t too excited about the upgrade in the end as the beach Bungalows are located outside the hotel, so you walk outside and on the beach to get there. But the room was nice and well equipped, and the room service even included some kind of mosquito repelling fragrance which was applied every evening by the staff.HOTEL and AREAThe facility is located directly at the beach in Bwejuu and also has a nice pool (pool/beach towels included). Unfortunately, it’s quite a walk to Paje (~40mins) or you can rent a bike for 5$/day at the hotel (I got a flat tire so wasn’t worth it after all), or rent a scooter (ca. 30$/day). That’s the only “negative” point I have, depending on how you design your holiday, I would recommend staying directly in Paje if you’re more of a beach person who wants to be where stuff’s happening (kite schools, bars,...), but if you plan on doing organized trips to places around the island, Indigo Beach is the ideal place to relax in the meantime.RESTAURANTOne more point on the restaurant: their food is fantastic. Breakfast is included and comes in form of a rich buffet with various jams and other spreads, breads, cake,... it has quite a European touch (French owner), and I loved it! The lunch is à la carte for good prices. Dinner is a set menu (but you can still choose) and the value for money is great! Cocktails are only 5$ - that’s like a never ending Happy Hour 💃🏻 on another note: they organized transport for us to get to The Rock, but I wouldn’t recommend going there for lunch or dinner, it’s not worth your money! Rather stay in the hotel and enjoy their amazing dinner 😉Overall, we were VERY satisfied with our choice to stay at Indigo Beach. In terms of hospitality, it’s most likely (one of) the best places around.

The host was amazing, the place is really authentic and private! The rooms were clean and cosy - we got flowers everyday! Food is good, cooked In-house with outdoors seating! Extremely peaceful and relaxing! The only downside was finding the place, as google maps is marked incorrectly. Hope I managed to rectify that. And if you want offers for snorkeling and dolphins, just walk out to the beach and youll get plenty of local people selling!I loved the place and wish I was there longer.

Indigo Beach is a french-owned boutique resort with outstanding staff, great food, and impressive attention to detail.Stayed there for two nights in a budget room, however was upgraded to sea view (they upgrade if capacity is there). The budget rooms had no ACs.Breakfast was European. Having butter and dark bread as part of breakfast selection was fantastic 🥖. Dinner prices for the set menu were 22 usd, cocktails cost 5 usd.The beach is nice at high tide, but not at low tide. There is not much else happening on Bwejuu beach. If you want a vibrant touristy beach I’d rather stay in Paje. Otherwise, it is 10-15 minutes on the bike to Paje.Overall, a fantastic hotel, can recommend!

Great place from the outdoors as well as the indoors !!! Zanzibar is raw and unspoilt in many ways. And Indigo just enhances it. Managed by a French group, they have tried their best to keep all local flavours of the land intact (including Masai guards as security- which I felt was pretty cool) and ever smiling local staff in a great balance. No ACs and only barefoot for the days you spend here. I spent 11 nights in this hotel and I really like it. However, there are still annoying negative points. The bar closes early at 9:00 p.m. so we have to go outside the hotel to have a drink. Also missing several things, no mint very often so no mojito which is a shame because they are excellent! The hotel is well maintained and cleaned every day as well as the swimming pool which is very positive. A lot of French tourists have a lot of nice encounters with nice people. Private parking 24h24 very good. The waitress is very warm and always smiling. I was very happy to have spent my 2 weeks with you, it was a great experience. Try to ensure that your customers are 100% satisfied with its negative points and it will be perfect. Thank you KARIBU!

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this superb hotel. The welcome is really excellent and the staff really takes care of their customers. The restaurant is of good quality with fair prices: the chef offers a variety of meals that you can adapt according to your wishes. The environment of the hotel is very pleasant and modern: a large swimming pool with a view of the sea, an open restaurant and a rest / reading area. Coffee, tea, biscuits are available all day. The rooms are also great. We had a family room with a sea view. A bedroom on the ground floor for the children as well as a small living room, an outdoor bathroom and the adult bedroom upstairs with a magnificent view of the sea. The location of the hotel is also very good with the beautiful Bwejuu beach just in front. We had a great stay here where we felt right at home!

We were afraid that we would not stand the heat without air conditioning in the bungalow, but the small extra fan that was lent to us by the hotel allowed us to have a very good nights! Very nice hotel! The hotel is based on white, and you can spend the day in a beautiful and elegant atmosphere. There are two types of rooms, the guest house type and the bungalow type of detached house. It was not luxurious, but it was a very clean and lovely room. The dinner at the hotel was also delicious. ($ 15-20 / course)※ Because it is dangerous to go out at night in Zanzibar, I think that I often eat at the hotel. Therefore, I think whether the hotel meal is delicious or not is a very important point. The only drawback is that the nearby beach is not suitable for swimming. You have to walk about 30 minutes to get to the beach where you can swim. Other than that is the best.

The food is good and very good value for money. Each evening the menu is different. If you are looking for tranquility, this is the place to be. I slept in a room and then in a bungalow. The rooms do not have a view of the sea but are still pleasant. Of course, the bungalows are more spacious, with showers and sanitary facilities outside (see photos). Both are equipped with fans. More effective in the rooms because on the walls, whereas in the bungalows they are above the bed but the mosquito net does not let air pass. Lovers of air conditioning, refrain. But hey, you dont come to Zanzibar to stay in your room.Personally, I recommend and will come back with great pleasure.
