We booked a combined spice and jozani forest tour. Eco tours is more expensive than other operators, but we expected wed get a different, more eco-friendly tour. We were mistaken.Eco tours provided a taxi with a friendly driver, but he barely spoke English. For a combined 2,5 hours driving, that was a bit awkward. At the end of the day, the driver disposed of his water bottle by throwing it out of the window. Not very eco friendly. The jozani excursion was great, with a a very knowledgeable guide who clearly cared about the forest. This guide was provided by the forest reserve though, not by eco tours. The spice farm is the same as all the others. Very touristy, complete with singing palm tree climbers. We were hoping for a different experience, we feel like we paid for a different experience. The local Swahili lunch tasted good, and the ladies serving it were friendly and helpful. To say that it was a traditional Swahili experience would be a stretch, we saw the last group of tourists leave when we arrived and the lunch was served in a modern living room. The chairs and tables were cleared out so that the tourists could eat on the marble floor.

I booked the 11-day private Safari and Zanzibar package for a honeymoon (27th October- 6th November). Both I and the wife were left absolutely overwhelmed with the whole experience. It is not something I can do justice with the limitation in words to describe the experience. I initially came across Eco Culture & Tours on Trip Advisor. Communication with Robert, the Marketing Manager, through WhatsApp was a breeze. Organising the event was relatively simple. Payment needs to be made in advance, which was a little concerning at first as it needs to be paid in dollars into a Tanzanian bank account. The risky individual I am, I decided to bite the bullet and see how it turned out. No regrets. The package offered was extremely good value when comparing with the various private honeymoon package out there. Communication with the company, who for us was Robert, was completely professional from the onset. The package didn’t include flights so that needed to be organised. Itinerary and receipts were sent in advance by email.Pick up and drop off from and to the airports was organised. We were welcomed by our brilliant and knowledgeable tour guide, Deo. His smile and positivity was infectious. Deo was extremely accommodating towards our needs throughout the journey and was insistent on making the trip a fully memorable one. We started our trip in Arusha Town at Kibo Palace Hotel. Robert came and met us at the hotel and gave us our tickets for flights to Zanzibar. The staff had arranged the room with petals and fresh fruit and drinks for us newlyweds. We don’t drink alcohol, so the drinks were kind of a waste. Our Safaris were over the course of three days including Lake Manyara National Park, Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater. Early starts are a must for getting the most out of the safari so be ready to get out early. Deo’s knowledge of the animals and their whereabouts was nothing short of brilliant. There is no doubt that the man loves his job and his passion really shows in his knowledge. Amongst the variety of animals habituated in the Serengeti we were fortunate enough to witness the big 5 up close during our stay. This was an extremely rare occurrence, and something which I am grateful for.During the Safaris we stayed at the Country Lodge, Kiota Tented Camp and Rhino Lodge. The experience of the tented camp is an absolute must. Admittedly, we were a little reserved at first but it was without doubt the highlight of all of our accommodations. Upon completing our safaris, we returned to the Kibo Palace Hotel, following which we were flown out to Zanzibar. The flight was on a small aircraft (can transport up to maybe 10 people). The airport attendent allowed the wife to sit in the pilot seat- while landed of course! The flight was also organised by the agent. At Zanzibar we were met by our new tour guide, Ali Hakunamata. Ali showed us around the small island of Zanzibar. This included a visit to a local spice farm. Zanzibar was more relaxed, and was the ideal destination following the excitement of the Safaris. There was a huge cultural and scenic difference between mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar. The water was turqoise blue and the sand was fine, soft to the touch and unpolluted. We stayed at the Z Hotel, which had a beautiful view of the beach. Honeymoon package offered a free lobster meal for two.Excursions in Zanzibar are in addition to the package, so must be paid for separately. We paid for a tour of the Prison Island, which involved a sail on a dhow in the pouring rain. It was something the sailor seemed completely accustomed to, fostering a relaxed smile while wiping away the rain from his bald forehead. Prison Island was populated with aged giant tortoises which were endemic to Seychelles. A brilliant sight all in all.Overall it was a genuinely wonderful experience. Well done Eco Culture & Tours and the brilliant tour guides! Keep up the good work and thank you!

Booked with Rashid and had Ahmid as our walking tour guide and sunset dhow trip guide. Best to do walking tour in the Morning, unless you dont mind the heat. Informative guide, with historical and cultural knowledge. Good English and most pleasant. Further discount offered with the additional excursions booked. Also using them for safari blue. Watch this space!

Professional service with competitive prices, with a bit of room for negotiation. We had two guides, one who was very knowledgeable and one less so. All in all we were very satisfied after the prison island and spice tours, but less so with the slave cave tour. The latter is rather a waste of time if the guide cant bring some interesting facts about the place.

The Stone Town of Zanzibar retains its urban fabric and townscape, which is a part of Africa, the Arab region, India, and Europe over more than a millennium.Stone Town in Zanzibar retains urban tissue and the city landscape virtually intact and contains many magnificent buildings that reflect its particular culture, which combined and unified the different elements of the cultures of Africa, the Arab region, India and Europe over a millennium.
