WARNING: Do NOT approach Reef Tours (David or Joel) if you value your money, time or sanity. My partner and I were planning a much needed trip to Zanzibar. Due to my nationality I required a referral visa so we contact reef tours to help us write an invitation letter and help with the visa applications. An employee named Joel who seemed amicable assured us we would have no issues and he would take care of everything. As we only had a few weeks to go till our trip date, we decided to believe him and let him handle the visa application. For this we paid Reef tours 30$ and 50$ for the visa application fees. Fast forward several weeks and no follow ups from the company. Eventually I get a call from David (employee at Reef) telling me he is taking over from Joel. Turns out the application that Joel had filled in AND the letter they had written were incorrectly filled with the wrong passport details. Without even acknowledging the mistake, David asked me to apply AGAIN to ensure I get the visa on time. I was furious but I didn’t argue because David convinced me he would go to immigration himself to sort out the issue. So, stupidly I paid AGAIN for the visa, under his guarantee that everything will be alright. I was in constant touch with David, (who would rarely answer the phone on time) and he kept reassuring me everything would be fine and to blindly believe him. It was now ONE week till my flight and still no visa. David kept us going in circles for days hoping that his “efforts” with the immigration would expedite the approval. Even until the day before my flight he promised and assured us the immigration will be fine. All of this culminated in him PROMISING me that all I have to do is get on the flight (without visa) and when I arrive his “friend” will stamp me in to the country. What kind of agency gives such advise?? Desperate, I actually went to the airport to try and board but obviously this was in vain. We WASTED our MONEY and TIME, and stressed and hoped all because of this agency. To make everything worse David never contacted us again and NEVER paid our money back for doing absolutely NOTHING. We wasted a trip, we wasted a flight,hotel bookings and most importantly we wasted our belief in the hope that Reef Tours were actually doing anything to help other than stringing us along knowing full well it was all lies. TERRIBLE.

David and staff are excellent very friendly very knowledgeable about the area trips were amazing cannot fault them stay safe
