Five star food - five star location - two star staff and service. Be prepared TO PAY IN CASH WITH BILLS NEWER THEN 2009?!? Very bizarre. We came here on Christmas Eve for a treat and the food was delicious - check out the pictures. Between the five of us we had a run through the menu, from crab soup to wings, spicy shrimp, crab cake, lobster roll. Topped off with ice cream shakes and dessert.Okay the beers were fine and reasonably priced. However, the gin and tonic I ordered was charged as a double, and it most certainly was NOT two shots of gin - nor was it BOMBAY sapphire as advertised/charged. Whatever, this is what happens in a country that doesn’t drink… but to charge me for two tonic waters is just silly…The service was okay, but we had to ask for everything at least twice. The bill took forever and when we finally got it, about twenty minutes to sort out payment, because the credit card machine won’t work. I know this is Africa but this is also the Hilton?! Then I paid in cash only to have two twenty dollar bills rejected because the date on them was 2004 - what ?!? Hilton needs to get a handle on this, this is unacceptable.

I think it is best to enjoy this place at the evening sunset session , with sea view almost from every side. Go for Lobster Ceviche and 3 kinds of Tuna & of course signature crab soup in coconut.

Dinner was very good -- tons of fresh seafood and they werent shy about portions.Breakfast was average in terms of selection and quality.Service was a weaker spot, as it seemed unpolished and the restaurant seems to be poorly maintained. I found a glass shard on the carpet in the inner lounge area, and for dessert we were brought the wrong items after a few we sold out.

Knowing the limited zanzibar food scene, I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. Ismail cheerfully assisted me what to choose from the menu with an extraordinary flexible attitude(he personally delivered it to the room). The crab coconut soup was very nice along with the seafood skewers, fresh, generous, and cooked perfectly along with the al dente vegetables. Nice to get food this good when most of island has subpar or just overpriced average options, including the fancy 5* resorts and hotels.

Had dinner here tonight and it was absolutely wonderful. We started off with bread rolls with a carrot sauce. The carrot sauce was so good my husband asked for more. I had the mango and avocado salad as a starter. It was beautifully presented and tasted great. I had the chilli prawns with rice as a main. It has to be the tastiest curry Ive had in such a long time, definitely a must try, with an adequate portion size for me. I finished my meal with the orange and cinnamon creme brulee. It was lovely. All in all a great meal. Definitely recommend this restaurant for food and hospitality. The staff were welcoming and very friendly.

It was okay. Expensive for the food that we ordered. The waiters and service were great. The food were satisfactory. We ordered Zanzibar chicken, beef, calamari steak and seafood skewers. Both the calamari and seafood skewers were lack of taste, did not taste any lemon butter sauce at all. The tuna and prawns were overcooked.

Unfortunately, as for me that was not the best dinner. Me and my boyfriend had dinner in Taarab( a-la carte restaurant in Doubletree by Hilton hotel Stone town ) on January 1, 2021. We ordered two dishes and both were not so good. Although the restaurant looks great, I would not visit this place one more time

My husband and I came with friends for drinks and dinner. It’s a smaller place on the top of the DoubleTree hotel. The food and staff were wonderful in general. The standout for me was the lobster tartar - fresh, citrusy, and a great summer appetizer. 4 stars because there was no AC (and it was hot!) and prices were rather high.

On the top floor of the DoubleTree hotel. A nice restaurant with a varied menu. The TOP breakfast with fresh products. The only problem was during dinner when I ordered calamari in tempura when they brought me back Mix tempura and I had to wait 20min to have the right dish. Otherwise the cool waiters. Hakuna matata

Crab soup in coconut is a fire in the literal and figurative sense of the word!)) VERY spicy and VERY tasty!)) I also liked another soup (I dont remember the name, but there are only 2 of them).Desserts and cocktails are delicious! The restaurant itself is located on the 5th floor of the Hilton Hotel. Prices correspond to the level of the hotel ..) The staff is very polite and tactful! Thank!
