Staffs are so kind. Price is reasonable. Location is good in that it is middle of Main Street in Stonetown. Cleanliness is pretty good. Breakfast isn’t served. Bathroom is shared by all guests. Even if it is dormitory type, bed is private because of curtains and separate wall. Many bag backers stay here.

I’m not sure why this hostel is highly rated. Was planning on staying two nights initially but left the next morning. The mixed dorm room is far too overcrowded for the number of people in it, also really stuffy. There is really small lockers to leave valuables, but no where else to leave bags apart from the bed you sleep on as floor space was negligee. There is an A/C, but it’s very weak and impossible to cool a room with a capacity of 20 people. Everyone was sweltering in the heat and sweat. The dorms and toilets were clean.

A wonderful location at the heart of Stone Town. A lot of good restaurants, places to visit and boats to take to the different islands are a walking distance. Its also very good for budget traveler (keep in mind that when I was there in October of 2021, they had a discount and it was 15$ per night.)Peli, the receptionist was a wonderful host. She was very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are clean. I love how they have plugs available for each bed. I stayed in the female only dorm and I was lucky to be the only one staying for two out of the three nights I spent there. I can imagine it being very crowded since the dorm could accommodate up to 14 people. The bathrooms are clean in the morning and could use frequent cleaning since its a shared space.

Pili (not sure if the name is written correctly), the girl at the reception was super nice, helpful and professional. They also have the most spacious do beds I have ever seen in hundreds of hostels. In the hostel I also met only nice travelers, and the travel and hostel community really reminded of what I loved meeting about traveling so much in the first place. They also have lockers for security that I didnt even feel I needed too much, and the location is great.Only on one day and Egyptian who couldnt speak English properly was at the reception (there is another Egyptian, he was also very nice), and he seemed not to know how hostels work and how important social competence is. He seemed out of place in the way he was dealing with the guests, and Im sure that he can learn a lot about Pili, but since it was only a small situation with that guy on one day, it didnt bother me too much and my stay in the hostel and all the other people I got to meet there, were simply wonderful. Thus, the hostel easily and deservedly receives 5 stars from meThank you for everything!

Lovely hostel. Biggest beds Ive had from a hostel too and the curtains are a nice touch to keep things private. The bathrooms are on a different floor from the first floor dorm but they are very easy to get to. Perfect location in stone town and the staff are very helpful. Not a brilliant place to meet people though and they do not advertise the tax price which leads to the cost being around 18 dollars per night but thats pretty standard in stone town

One of the modern hostels I have stayed in (probably the best one in stone town)! The rooms are air conditioned, with bedroom compartments (very private with curtains) similar to Japanese capsule hotels, but larger beds. The staff was super friendly and helpful, but the best part is the location, its close to everything in stone town! The only down side I would say is the $9 tax extra that they charge for the room. Laundry service is available but no breakfast. Still, I had a pleasant stay regardless, and would recommend other travelers!

Lovely hostel with affordable pricing reasonable right in the heart of Stonetown. We booked two double beds the day of during low season. At first it was pretty empty but the beds filled up towards the end of the day. The staff ladies are very nice and speak English well. Very happy to help and answer questions.Unfortunately, after a few requests, one of our beds still did not get sheets put on.The common areas are pleasant but not very large so traveller interactions are brief and in passing. We did meet some fun other travellers however.I would recommend this place to most backpackers!

A lovely modern hostel with air conditioning!!! There are only a couple rooms and they have many beds in them. You may sleep in a double bed or a twin and each bed has a privacy curtain with a light and a plug in inside. The staff is very friendly. The owner is welcoming and gave us many great recommendations. They also sell bottled water (its chilled!) at a fair price. I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent location in the heart of Stone Town. Wifi works well both in the room and common areas. Huge beds, safe lockers, bedside light and power outlets for everyone. Aircon in the dorm. Very good place for the price. No breakfast available but plenty of cafes nearby. They arranged a transportation to Nungwi for me for a very competitive price.

I really enjoyed staying here. I was worried about the 16 bed dorm, but everyone has a curtain for their full-size bed, which makes it feel private. Thats right, most of the beds are full size! The place had a fun style and there are two AC units in the room to keep it cool. Loses a star for small lockers (even the big ones are shelved, so you cant fit a pack frame) and no kitchen facilities.

I wish I could write a review on Hostel world but because I cancelled I cant. The hostel is nice, they have laundry service, friendly staff and great location. However the day I got there I was feeling like I am catching a cold and it was getting worse. The AC was set to 19 degrees and later I spoke to 2 girls that told me we like it like this. 19 degrees is like arctic weather for me and since I was only provided a thin sheet I asked for a thick blanket...of course they did not have...I do not feel like 15 people sharing a room should have access to the temperature settings. Everyone is different, however low temperatures at night without warm bed can get someone very sick ( as it happened to me).I cancelled my reservation and went to another place. The hostel was very nice and refunded me for the second day stay. I would probably not stay at hostels again...you can find too many inconsiderate people. Also there is a very small area to hangout and a fooseball table just outside one of the dorms which can be very loud. I feel like it would a better idea to remove it and make more seats (maybe put a small table)

What a great place, clean tidy, showers are really good, beds are big for a single one. Enough room to put your bits in. Curtains to be pulled around the bed for privacy. Really was shocked at how nice the place was for a hostel and in a great location too. Cheap tooTy

A small, cozy hostel smack dab in the heart of stone town. Don’t come here looking for 5-star luxuries; the place boasts friendly staff, free WiFi, a computer corner, capsule “rooms” with a curtain for privacy and a socket for charging, hot showers and an inevitably fun group of travelers looking for adventure at a reasonable price. Get to explore the intricate streets of stone town and be a close enough walk to the ferry on your day back to the mainland to almost miss it - but not quite.

Very cheap, but the AC was not always working and the bathrooms smelled quite foul. Close to the city center. Okay WiFi in the common areas. Refrigerated water (1,5L) could be bought 24/7 for 1000 tsh.

The place is spotless clean, the beds are large, and the curtains give you privacy. There are also lockers. Location is perfect: central, near an exchange office and many restaurants. Unfortunately they dont serve breakfast and there isnt a kitchen to prepare your food or a table to eat what you bought, which is a problem during Ramadan when its hard to eat outside before sunset.

An amazing place to stay especially if you are loooking into a cheap but ellegant housing. The hostel constitutes a modern design design that anyperson from any part of the world can find it comfortable to stay. If you are in groups, this is the perfect spot to settle. The hostel is in the heart of stone town, the most bussiest street stone town with very many shops. The customer service is excellent, would totally recommend

Really liked this place and would stay here again. I deduct one star because they hung a sheet when I asked for a curtain as mine was the only bed without, they didnt have enough locker keys to give me one, and I didnt know about the $9 per night tax before I booked. Location here was perfect and staff very helpful.

Newly fitted hostel. Air-conditioned dorms with individual bathrooms with showers. Breakfast is not included but for TSH5000 you can get some avo toast at Stone town Cafe. 1.5l water is sold for tsh1000 at reception. Wifi is good but fluctuates in top dorm. Communal areas are ok, there is no bar which would have been the perfect addition. Be aware that $9 tourism tax added to dorn bed cost. Total should be $19.Dorms:You have an private pod with curtains providing privacy with your own little light and two power sockets. Rf lockable locker in room is big enough for laptop backback which was a plus! Most affordable accommodation in the heart of stone town.

Where do the good ratings actually come from? When checking in, there are hidden costs that are not shown anywhere in advance. It is cleaned regularly, but the sanitary facilities need to be overhauled. No space for the bags, they are in the aisle and everyone stumbles over them at night. Air conditioning cant cool the room, so sleep like in a sauna.
