The most friendly staff Ive experienced in a resort. The meals were different each day and very flavourful. Amazing large swimming pool with nice cocktail bar. When the tide is high, a swim in the ocean was lovely and warm (just wear your water shoes).

They rooms are spacy and the product is not bad. They need to work on thier menu and food. Having the same breakfast for 3 days can be boring and the dinners werent nice. Food was cold and not tasty.

Beautiful, large, fresh air lovely, near to the coast for you to see the beautiful blue water.Reception;they are the best you can ever meet, first you come at the entrance, everyone gets cooled with frozen towels since the place is hot. And youre offered nice sweet and thirst quenching chilly juice and you luggage is taken care of.RoomsThey are so large and they are of 3 types, one for singles which is even to big, 3 rooms inside, one of 4 rooms inside and the bigger one of 5 rooms inside with a swimming pool outside. All rooms have a runway kind of bathrooms and leisure rooms. All rooms with TV and DSTV, a well laid bed with red flowers, and a nice fan plus A.C since place is so hot at night and day time, a safe for your money and belongings, a sofa, 2 tables, free tea accessories, and your beautiful keys plus towel cards for swimming.CompoundSo large and good for riding bicycles which indeed they have at the reception for moving around. So many flowers around the compound to make it beautiful and it stretches for 1KM length and 600 M width. With beautiful walk ways.Swimming poolSo beautiful and large. Blue salty water inside with lights for night swimming. 2 pools for adults and kids. The karibu bar is next to the pool just in case you need drinks to replenish while swimming and also close to the towel area and restaurant. Its always around the pool area where celebrations are conducted coz it has beautiful lighting of the trees around the pool of different colors.RestaurantVery large, can accommodate upto 150 guests. So comfy and has a variety of food foe you to choose from. If youre a vegetarian, on diet, doesnt eat the food around or want to just take juice, youre all covered. These cooks make the best sauce you will taste around zanzibar, meals are inform of buffet, 4 in number. Kitchen is so clear and their is beautiful music in the background to accompany your delicious mean time. And you can also come and read from here coz its so stealth and calm.BeechIts so close and has beautiful white sand where good for the feet. The hotel does not shine in its old light. Neglected and neglected garden. Ants in the bathroom, dirty wall. The food is terribly poor and simple, by European standards I prefer 2 stars. The main problem is the glasses at the beach bar are not just rinsed and not washed. This is not acceptable during a pandemic.

Amazing kind people, willing to serve, the service is A+, good house keeping, good food, good drinks, clean and tidy, care for the ultimate comfort for their guests.The property is really beautiful, with a really big swimming pool and a bar beside it. The restaurant is big and spacious, lots of garden around, and it also has villas with private pools which is amazing for personal space, as a couple or family. The rooms and villas have got great sea and garden views as well.

We really enjoyed our 7 night stay at Azao resort. The staff were so friendly and helpful, we especially enjoyed the pool bars staff. The pool is amazing, we would sit in the pool up until 8pm. Azao upgraded our room to a sea view room, the views are breathtaking. I would highly recommend Azao. Thank you for making our honeymoon so memorable.

Not recommending at all.Reception was too much rude .Rooms not clean.GM was friendly but he is not available all the time .staf in restaurant are very nice and friendly .I was all inclusive i found that not worth at all .

An attractive resort with generally nice facilities but a lack of attention to detail. No replacement soap was provided over the course of our 4-day stay, not were the bins emptied, nor were the towels washed. Some rooms had robes but others did not, for no obvious reason. Only one room key is offered, a second is apparently not available - a substantial inconvenience to people sharing a room who want to go their own way. One person in our group left a key with the front desk when leaving for an excursion, but the staff misplaced it, leaving her roommate locked out most of the day.Additionally, $100 went missing from my wallet on the first night, when I hastily changed into my swim trunks and left everything out in the room. (The door was locked, but there is an evening servicing and the staff have keys.) I would strongly advise using the room safe from the moment you get to the room.Lastly, the hotel tour operators seemed largely ignorant of the tours they offered, giving conflicting details to each member of our group when asked. I would suggest arranging tours independently to avoid disappointment

We enjoyed being here, very nice resort with great atmosphere and very helpful and attentive staff who make your stay most pleasant. Asking us daily if everything was OK and everything really was more than Ok! We had a bungalow, cleaned daily, food always tasty and fresh. Beach was according to my style, smaller, cosy and private. I really wish to come back to this place

I was so excited to finally visit Zanzibar & Azao Resort & Spa was the perfect place to stay!! It is a beautiful resort with absolutely amazing staff. The young men & women were always on hand to assist with anything that you might require & they had great advice about what to do & where to go if you didnt want to just laze by the pool.The food was good & the waiters were always on hand to make sure we had the perfect drink for our meals.I will definitely be back!!!Asante sana

We came to Zanzibar for kiting, which we could not do in Azao, but we had car rented and were cruising spots around for a week. first good spot is no longer then 10min north. Hotel is cool. very nice spa area with sauna, good after day on water, as well as gym is OK. Food was nice. breakfast with lots of fruits, rest more less all you need. Rooms older but very big.

Me & my husband stayed there for our honeymoon. The food was just amazing.Its a really good place,very peaceful. I wish there a beach though, anyways the ocean water was really beautiful although itl shift/disappear mostvof day(but hey you cant control nature,right).The staff was extremely kind and helpful.

Staff friendly and helpful. Food very good and a huge variety if dishes. We had different themes every evening. Enough choices for vegan and vegitarians. We only took half board (breakfast and dinner). We organized activities during the day i.e snorkeling, scuba diving, deep sea game fishing and a trip to Stonetown. Rooms where clean and very comfortable with house cleaning every day and a turn down service every evening, they spray insect spray for mosquitoes.The only small problem was water pressure during peak hours, same as any other island I have visited.I would suggest you pack some insect repellent and a plug in mosquito repellent. We never had a problem with mosquitoes.Also pack a EU adapter and multiplug with USB plug, two prong etc. If from SA.Its quite expensive but you can bargain and I would suggest you try and bargain in Sjiling local currency or US$ - support the locals but do not pay untill after receiving service or only pay 50% up front. Otherwise organize with resort.One of the best holiday experiences ever.🤩

Reasonable price, we were in low season, but were lucky on 50% sunshine. Roms are spacious, we had ground floor with nice views for morning coffees. B&B only, rest we were out, or were ordering. Rent a car, it will come handy

I would not recommend this hotel from various reasons. There is no nice beach at the hotel or around, as the water goes away every day and come back at the evening. The food is one of the most low quality Ive ever tasted and its definitely NOT tasty. Not even the bread! It was probably frozen and not fresh. The hotel is also located very badly at the middle of nowhere so you cant go out to eat at a restaurant youre basically stuck eating their food. You need to spend a lot of money on taxis to get to the islands activists and nice beaches so you dont even end up saving money for taking this cheap hotel. For those reasons I would spend a little more money on a better hotel. On the bright side: rooms are spacious and nice, hotel stuff are friendly (but not communicating in English properly) and theres a nice bridge.

Great getaway, far from everything. Ideal for relaxing and recuperating. Place doesnt have its own beach and getting around for sightseeing will cost significantly more than being situated somewhere near Stone city. But regardless it is a good place to stay when in Zanzibar.

We bought a 3 bedroom villa with pool and garden view. Garden view is like a wild Bush that they don’t take care per 1month with a lot of insects and frogs and a lot of lizards. The way to go to the room is so so bad that the guy that bring our luggage broke 2 luggage wheels bringing them.When we arrive in the room. At lobby hotel after one hour in a cab they didn’t offer us nothing to drink and a lot of unnecessary paper to fill out. Really I never saw this. Very incompetent people working there. Even English she cannot talk.When we arrive in the room. The pool was really really dirty. Look at pictures green with a gutter from the roof and a lot of tiles falling them. I didn’t believe in this. Special note here. @Hiltonhotels bought this hotel. Do they know that they are waiting for guests with all of those problems?One room was upstairs and the bathroom was in another floor with a dangerous stairs to go. And the villa is like a building that we share the pool. Rooms small and completely separated. Where did you saw a villa like this in a 4 star hotel ?After 1 hour they give us another room with a pool falling out the tiles but that look clean and a roof gutter. Then they put 2 chair beds for the kids for spend that night. curtains was so see through that everybody see you in the room. And you cannot sleep because of lights outside. Was a really bad time and also the shadows of the wild bush scare the kids. The bed was really really hard mattress. Also the door of the room have a loose glass. Every time we open that door was a pain. All in bathroom were rusty taps. Look into the pictures. The room only have one lamp was very very dark room to you not see the dirty. Then after talked with the general manager a Turkish guy called ULOC. He told me that this is one of he best 4 stars in Zanzibar and that’s is the standard for all 4stars in Zanzibar . That he only have satisfied customers. Look the pictures and you will see who is lying here. After my Via Crucis trying to find a hotel and talking with a lot of owners of hotels. They told me that that this hotel is a lie. They are not a 4 stars and at the best could be a 2.5 stars. Kevin is another creature that cannot manage or talk wi5 customers. This manager didn’t listen us and refund us only per one night. We bought this hotel in August where it wasn’t bad reviews about it.what I learn , after buy a hotel for a special date In advance, keep watching to see how things going on. If I have seen those other bad reviews I never come to this hell place that made 2 days lost in my trip, headaches and meeting of real disgusting people. So avoid this and also all Hilton’s in Zanzibar that those man did the management because if you have any kind of small trouble he will treat you like nothing.

Worst hotel experience, the night shift guy at the reception took his time to take payment and he served other guests who arrived after us to check in. At the end after 50minutes he didn’t know how to work out 2 card machines for the payment and he had to call his boss to deal with it.We missed our flight because of him! 👏🏽

I really enjoyed the Hotel super clean I highly recommend this place it is so simple and I miss the place I wish to go more times and the receptionist named ALI ISSA was very helpful and friendly always showed me a great smile ☺ on his face.. So I really recommend.

The rooms are big and nice, but there is no white beach, if you want to swim in the ocean you need to walk 500m on rocks...The hotel is very far from the main island attractions so you save money on the hotel, but pay more to the taxi to get you to where you need

I love staying in this hotel, we booked with my boyfriend as we both love exploring nature and for that, this hotel is perfect. Its location gives you an opportunity to see the best from the island. The rooms are very nice and I also enjoyed the cuisine. Highly reccommended!

It was fantastic. Friendly and professional staff- ready to go extra mile. Hearty ala carte dinner. Spa , gym and tennis court are the other features characterising Azao. Only downside is that this resort does not have a beach front.

The room was amazing, a so great view and the bed was really comfortable. The staff was nice. And we get an excellent price with half broad by booking.

Place is average, need serious maintenance, we were stuck 3 days without soda or any ice, had to buy drinks from street venders, manager just pulled up his shoulders. No beach to swim at. Dear fellow travelers spend little bit more and move on to the next resort, this one is dying a slow death.

Worth of visit! Great Massai people very friendly guards. Pool is amazing. Diving crew is so friendly. Everyone was super attentive and food was great.

Azao is a wonderful resort located in Zanzibar. Comfortable rooms,great food and beverages. Communication though seems to be an issue with the staff. Customer service needs to be upgraded as well☺.

Azao Resort & Spa was a perfect choise and the best in Pongwe zone. The hotel looks like the photos, just in front of a blue sky and a light blue sea. The employees are very sympathic and have to point names like Ally, Edna, Jacqueline, Rajab, Yoram, and my suahili teacher Mwalimu, the man of the excursions agency

Pleasant stuff, clean facilities and nice food but the problem is that they keep on repeating the same music playlist everyday and we had to call reception almost daily to get clean towels into our room and there were instances when we never received fresh clean bottled water.

Beautiful place but the food is a bit pricey. I recommend you use cash for payment because they card machine usually doesnt have network and it got us delayed for the airport when checking out.

First time in Zanzibar and very happy. wanted to stay somewhere more peaceful and on not super high price so we picked Azao. Stunning place, with lovely team. Food was amazing and we loved the pool area

The website promises the beach that they do not have. It says its a 4 star and its a three. I currently have no hot water and reception is not maned. Have been waiting for maintanace to come and running late for my tour. Not liking it right now

Amazing place.... Though far from city but the places is excellent. Its currently being owned by DoubleTree Hilton and few changes are beibg done. We visited as a Family if 5 and we had an outstanding time there

My wife and I are currently on honeymoon in Zanzibar at the Azoa resort and spa.From the moment we arrived we have had nothing but issues and disappointments one after the other.On arrival not even a welcome drink even after having to catch 2 flights and a taxi taking a whole day to get here.We then get taken to our room which guess what has an interleading door to a family unit with a baby and toddler. We ipenes the door initially thinking it was another entrance door and saw kids playing. This is what a honeymoon is about? Is this acceptable?We then went for supper and had dried out meat and scrapes that were left from the main supper.Back at the room you couldnt use the toilet because it didnt flush. After 3 calls to reception and a mail to holiday factory the toilet eventually half flushes.We did get on the second day a bed with a towel swan on it and a warm bottle of sparkling wine in the evening a little to late.Mails have been sent to our travel agent and Lauren at Holiday factory with the option of spending a further 50k to 90k for other accommodation, or if we want to have an earlier flight home to loose everything except 5k. How is this possible or far considering that we are cutting our honeymoon short by a week and forced to stay in a place which does not have or promise us the honeymoon which we paid for.Saying we feel cheated is an understatement and holiday factory just takes your hard earned money and says SORRY FOR YOUYour loss is their monetary gain and they smile all the way to the bank and more.So much for a happy honeymoon or client. Will never use or recommend them again and will hopefully take this further when back home.
