We stayed at this beautiful place for 11 days and our expectations were exceeded. The complex is very quiet with a fantastic view of the sea and the beach. Anyone looking for relaxation will find it here. Staff always friendly and helpful and in a good mood. Would love to come back.
We spent our honeymoon at Hakuna Majiwe and it was great. Everything is very clean, the staff is very kind and helpful. Also, the hotel manager is a great guy and always attentive to guests needs. The location is right on the beach and close to Paje (20 min walk on the beach) and also Jambiani beach. We thank the staff involved in our beautiful stay. See you next time we come to Zanzibar!
Felt so warmly welcomed. Wonderful quiet and peaceful place to relax and enjoy Sansibar.Gefallen · I have had a wonderful stay at Hakuna Majiwe. The staff is incredible friendly, polite, professional and really helpful with everything. They really make you feel welcome and at home. The lodge is located in a quiet area, but in walkable distance to the centre of Paje with its nice little local restaurants and water activities. The little beach bungalows are giving a lot of privacy and it is wonderful to step out on the little private terrace in the morning seeing the ocean or falling asleep in the hammock under the stars in the evening. I think what makes this place extremely valuable and special is the wonderful staff working there. Thanks very much to each one of them for a real great and relaxing week.
Absolutely beautiful place with a helpful team onboard & nice bungalows next to the ocean. Perhaps the bar would require some slightly better supply, although the food, the look, the place were excellent. Highly recommended to couples, but also smaller families and people in a strong need to slow down for a week or two ;)
A very nice hotel with great view, happy and attentive personnel, delicious food, calm atmosphere and good location. We had our honeymoon there and everyone was so nice to us, special thanks to hotel manager George and all staff who made this holiday most special. Definitely will visit again and highly recommended!
A beautiful place to relax and enjoy Zanzibar. Located in the south of Paje you will find these nice Beach Bungalows. It is a small resort, just 10 double bungalows with lots of space, a nice pool area and lovely people. Directly situated at the amazing white beach, it just takes you 10 walking minutes along the beach to reach the viby part of Paje with lots of Restaurants and Bars. On the main road you will find lots of local opportunites to have food and buy drinks. The Wifi works propper and the bungalows itself are basic but comfortable. All bungalows are equiped with Mosquito net and Air con. The best part is to chill and read a book in the hammock in front of the bungalow. Highly recommended if you wanna have a quiet relaxing place but not being to far away from local life.
Really good location right on the beach!15 min on foot to center of Paje .Big swimming pool clean room with AC and very kind personal.Recommend
Beautiful resort. It truly embraced the wilderness surrounding it. Very quiet and beautiful beach. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly and even prepared a birthday cake for our friend and sang for him. Rooms were really nice, spacious and clean.About a 15min walk on the beach to get to the rest of Paje, but we didnt mind. Kitesurfing in front of the hotel was limited to high tide, but when walking to the main Paje beach we could go any time.
Very beautiful place, good impressions of the staff especially the best bar man Luis.
We have spent eight wonderful and relaxing nights at the beach resort in room number 19, a bungalow with garden view and a little glimpse of the Indian Ocean from the porch. The resort consists out of overall 10 Bungalows covering 20 rooms and a big main building containing a bar, the restaurant area where the half of full board is served plus chill out areas. An external agent can provide you with certain activities such as e.g. snorkeling, dolphin tours, Jozani Forrest tours, Spice Tours, and more. Be aware that it’s not cheap and look for alternatives to spear money. The staff and the manager Stanley were fantastic, always very friendly, helpful and open minded. The bar tender very eager to learn some Germán sentences 👌🏻The room was very tidy and cleaned every day, and prepared for the night. The room lacks air conditioning, so if you desire it, look for a beach view room. A Water bottle per pax, to brush teeth, are provided once a day, as for westerners the tap water is not recommended. A fridge ain’t available, which is not surprising for a resort.A nice and pool is available in the garden area with depth between 1,2 and 2m. We enjoyed it a lot. An improvement would/could be a toilet and bar directly at the pool area. The beach is liberated from loose sea grass every morning and is subjected to the tide. On low tide you experience a vast beach and you can stroll into widely into the bay area, watching the locals harvesting sea Gras and net fishing which might contain your next dinner. As we were on the edge between high and low season we had the first days buffet and a la carte afterwards. Anyway, we liked both. Dishes with meat and fish alike. If you are posh, an extravagant person, and expect a 5* plus environment for that reasonable price-performance ratio look for something else and spent more. Otherwise we would warmly recommend this resort to you.Remark: As plastic waste is an issue on Zanzibar and everywhere else on the planet, try to avoid the consumption, make the resort manager aware to improve and collect if you can. Avoid it at home likewise, it makes the beautiful even more beautiful. We had a wonderful time at the Hakuna Majiwe (No Stones) beach resort and would like to thank the entire staff for their hospitality ☺️ and wish all the best for your future. See you later 👋Hakuna Matata 🤙🏻
Kind and helpful staff, especialy the manager is top! Thank you for everything.
The best hospitality i have ever got from all the hotels, i have ever been to...The staff and management team thumbs up and keep the nice work always..
Forgot to add one point - best wifi Ive had in zanzibar so far. Accessible in all areas - even the beach!!!
Fantastic place. Great service. Clean rooms. Amazing beaches!
Hotel its went to checkout the rates but their rates were on a higher side as well despite low season
Beautiful resort right on the beach. Excellent food and comfortable rooms.
The Hakuna Majiwe Beach Lodge is located in Paje, and the beach here is known for being one of the most beautiful on the island, and it is! Staying in a hut with pure white sand just outside the veranda facing the blue crystal clear water was simply magical. We were on Zanzibar at the beginning of December to visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the lodge is located next to the tentative Jozani Forest/Chwaka Bay Conservation Area, so the perfect location for both beach and nature! Some of the monkeys from the Jozani Forest actually regularly come to visit the lodge! We really loved it here. Having almost the entire place to ourselves was a special treat and a great perk of travelling off-season. Our stay was serene, a lot of privacy and chill, very hakuna matata as everyone here calls it. All the staff was so nice and attentive, we felt truly welcome from the first moment, almost like royalties. Our beach bungalow was really big and felt like home. It had its own terrace with a lovely hammock for relaxing. Since the weather during our stay was so nice this is where we sat the most, reading and listening to the waves of the Indian Ocean. That is when we were not by the big pool or chilling on the beach watching the tide come in.The restaurant and bar area was huge and also facing the ocean with stunning views during the day and beautifully lit up in the evening. We really enjoyed having all our meals here since there was a lot to choose from. The breakfast was fantastic with lots of fresh local fruit, pancakes, scrambled eggs on toast and great, great coffee! If you are looking for a chill place on a spectacular beach with a great pool you cannot go wrong with Hakuna Majiwe.
Was wonderful and is Unforgettable Experience

The beach is nicerooms are bit outdated ac wasnt working well but had a comfortable stay overallSafe place too
Trip made in December 2010.Trivial but I want to repeat the same words ... it is one of the places that remains in your heart ... an ideal place to relax ... You eat well, you rest divinely and, even if the tide could play some tricks, the first time, the sea is fantastic. Only the children could perhaps find fault with the absence of peers but if you have the patience to make them have fun with the nature that is around it is also excellent for them ... Nice and very cordial the Masai. The manager of the hotel is efficient and really nice ... All the rooms are beautiful and furnished in the same way. Cleaning is effective and flawless. The excellent cuisine.
A great place. Neglected. Food very mediocre. However, they are trying to lack a European hand to manage the center.
Loved the hotel comfortably calm clean. The staff is friendly, cleaning every day is 2 times a day. The beach near the hotel is ideal algae is cleaned every morning on this coast; it is the cleanest near this hotel. Price quality is perfect.
A great place to stay. I rested from December 14 to December 22, 2020. I advise everyone.
Very nice hotel on the beachfront, the rooms were clean although the furniture a bit dated. Very friendly and very attentive staff at all times. Maybe we miss more variety at dinner
Very nice hotel on the edge of a beautiful beach. Flat the little varied cuisine.
We rested in March. Lovely hotel grounds and very nice staff. Recommend.
Very comfortable and calm! Great for relaxing in solitude or family. Ocean and super nature!
Clean and quiet lodgeAll are single buildings, and there are rocking swings and foot baths where you can lie in front of your room and relax. There was a lot of ants twisted on the flower placed as a decor in the room that was initially assigned, but that was the flower, and it was handled right away and moved to another room and was kind.Recommended if you want to heal properly in a really quiet placeBe careful not to take the rice from the cats.
A fantastic place for us with the ocean. Pleasant wind cools when the sun burns at the zenith.
Rooms very clean, hotel staff always very friendly. Buffet very generous and tasty. First line of beach. Wi-Fi has to be paid in a room, being free in common areas.
Too calm and good
The infrastructure of the hotel is very nice, the beach and the ocean are indeed there .. the gardens are beautiful and well maintained, the room too, the staff are pleasant.BUT ... breakfast: very limited ... no jam, no honey, no real coffee, no cheese, no cold cuts, the same every day, very limited choice ... low end ... to the economy ...The evening meal ... sorry, but repetitive and infamous buffet ... to the economyQuestion fruits: watermelon, pineapple, banana, but no mango, passion fruit etc ... yet that would also support the locals, right? Do not take à la carte, it is expensive for half the price.Power cut ... from 1am to 6am ... same as the APM until around 7pm ... and sometimes also in the morning, therefore, no air conditioning, hot water for the shower, wifi, of light in the rooms and ??? no possibility of paying your final bill by credit card, strange isnt it?BUT also ... a lot of things to renovate, to replace: the parasols of the swimming pool, faded, torn, many holes also in the paving around the swimming pool, we could hurt ourselves, the mattresses for the beach area are to be replaced, some are frankly unhygienic: holes, torn ... and also in too few (8 if I remember ...)BUT also ... the restaurant chairs ... a poem, 1st time in my life that I see chairs repaired with string which itself falls apart ... half the chairs ... yet the hand local work exists ...BUT ... at the bar ... they have a supply problem ... no beer, or you have to drop right when they come home (in small quantities)BUT ... for any extra they charge in dollars, putting super high prices ...For me: spend a maximum of two or three nights there, no more. What saves it all: the decor ...Little more: a very small restaurant next door, very good food, and very correct price ... just like what, we can do it ....So, its a shame ... it could be so good ...
Own cottage directly facing the sea. Very friendly and service oriented staff. Relaxed mood. Flowers and new towels on the bed after cleaning the cabin. Interested in telling about Zanzibar and its history.
The perfect time for inspiration is the right time
No wi-fi, modest, high-value cottages near the sea, and there are 9 rooms facing the Indian Ocean. Food is acceptable and deserves to visit again, God willing. The place is generally beautiful, surrounded by hotels and resorts from every direction. The disadvantage of the abundance of mosquitoes and insecticides are used twice a day in the bedrooms and this is a great danger, but it is the way to control mosquitoes and the walls of the rooms on it gecko. My experience lasted 13 days. I paid a 13-day down payment and I regretted it.The presence of mosquitoes in abundanceGecko on the wallsWifi only available in the restaurantAnd the prices are much inflatedI will never repeat the experience here
Thats what paradise looked like. Great staff!
