Popote was a phenomenal choice to go for my Kilimanjaro trek and safari. I did the 8 day northern circuit route (amazing) and a 3 day safari!I would 100% go with them again, if I visit Tanzania again.They were great to work with, the food provided was so good (see the pictures), and the people were so helpful and fun!I loved my experience! Ask for Stanley as your Kilimanjaro guide, he’s the best! Beatus was also a great safari guide! Joesph is a great chef!

My husband and I booked our 7 day Lemosho Route Climb to Kilimanjaro through Popote and loved the experience! First, I will say each and every staff member which we had interactions (in person and via email) with was extremely friendly and helpful!During the climb, the guides and crew were very helpful and fun to be around. The food was plentiful and tasted great! We had read online to pack some extra snacks and treats, but we were so full every night we barely ate any of our power bars, chocolates, etc. The tents were fine, not brand new but still working, the provided sleeping pads were great, and I would highly recommend renting or bringing gators for the climb!The hotel included in the package the night before and after the climb was really nice, and the transfers worked out perfectly!The only thing we wish we knew prior to the climb was the size of our crew. We were by ourselves (2 people) and the crew the carry us was 9 crew plus 2 guides! We were not expecting so many crew members so were very far off on our estimation of what we would have to tip at the end of the trip. I know they cant know this number exactly because the porters are only allowed to carry 20kgs, but an estimation/guide would have helped us a lot!Best Wishes from Portugal :)

7-day Machame route (first high-altitude hike, 23 y/o, above average fitness):Popote Africa Adventures Ltd is a fantastic option if you are looking around for a trekking company for your attempt at Mt. Kilimanjaro. Understandably, when looking for a company your biggest concerns are price, your safety, the wellbeing of your porters/staff, the level of expertise of the team as you hope to summit, as well as the overall atmosphere youll be surrounded by during your multiple day hike. My friend and I were hesitant to settle with any company given the vast range of options, but we could not be happier with our choice of Popote Africa Adventures. Absolute class acts. They got us to the top, they fed us incredible meals (I was better fed on this mountain than while I lived on my own; their stomach engineers will fuel you the right way to get you to the top), all of the staff were incredibly friendly, our guides were knowledgeable and there was never a moment where we questioned our decision. Save yourself the headache and go with Popote Africa; there is so much else to plan, let this be your no brainer and get this huge weight off your shoulders.

Popote is a great choice to do your trip to Tanzania, we did Kili climbing and Safari and both experiences were amazing ans successfull. Yuo can see they have well prepared guides and teams. They provide you with all necessary stuff and always everybody has a smile and try to help you. I feel we went back with new friends. We had a great time and surely I would call Popote travel agency again if I return to a similar trip. Definitely advisable dont doubt withe them, it will a success.

Did the 6/7 day Machame Route and successfully reached the summit. Popote did a great job organising everything including rental equipment and hotel stay. Guides were incredibly motivating and friendly, as was the entire crew. Absolutely impressed by their attentiveness and never questioned any decision by them. Can absolutely recommend going with Popote!

6-Day Machame Route:Where to begin... we were beyond impressed with the attentiveness, professionalism, and support of our guide (Florian), assistant guide (Dulla), Cook (Chinga), and team of porters (Michael, Faranja, Eddsies, etc.), as well as the office team.The company was founded by Sabino, who himself started as a porter, and he certainly knows what hes doing, and so does his team!

Made the kili summit via the Marangu route with my family and Popote Africas assistance in mid-July 2018. They treated us very well! Picked us up and dropped us back off from the Parkview Inn (very nice and just a half mile from their office) to the airport. Everyone from the guide to the cooks, porters, and owner showed exceptional professionalism and caring. Would go with them again in an instant. Great food. They even helped us out with a few missing gear items my son needed.

Had a wonderful experience hiking with this company. My Porters and guides were incredible. They made the hike enjoyable at every step from the hike to meals. Our tents were set up every night when we arrived at the next camp site. The meals were great and it was always nice to have a welcoming place to end the day. The guides always made us feel welcome and cared for and helped us to feel like a team to work together to get to the top

Did a 10 day Northern Circuit of Kilimanjaro. The crew could not have been more helpful and cheerful from picking us up at the airport to dropping us off there at the end. They were exceedingly punctual, constantly checking on how were we and making us feel welcome throughout. The food was excellent, generally more than we could possibly eat and at times didnt feel like eating too much. If we fancied something different to eat they tried to meet it. The whole trip was s great deal of fun despite the moments of tiredness and other effects of attitude. The culmination for us was reaching the top and having the whole summit plateau entirely to ourselves looking out over a completely snowy crater. A truly humbling experience. Thanks are due to all the Popote team for a job carried out to the highest profession standard. Parting from the the team was a very emotional time, on both sides. Couldnt recommend them more highly!!

Popote’s service was unparalleled - we highly recommend Popote, both for climbing Kilimanjaro (we did the 8-day Lemosho route) and safari (we did 4-day standard).We came across Popote based on reviews and our experience rang true to what others have said. We wanted to pick a company run locally that had permanent staff (vs freelancing guides/porters/etc) - and Popote is exactly this being run by Sabino who was a former porter on Kilimanjaro with a crew that bonded like family.Popote (especially Redeem) made the whole experience seamless - from answering our questions before and after booking, taking care of all our transportation / logistics in Tanzania and ensuring we had a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Popote accommodated our preference to stay in Arusha instead of Moshi between the hike and safari, and also allowed us to book our own hotel with no hassle (even though I’m sure it made the transports more difficult for them to coordinate).We did the Lemosho route late Dec 2019 - we were hoping to have other hikers join our group but we ended up with our own private tour which worked out well for having lots of flexibility. We had a team of 2 guides, 1 cook and 8 porters - all of who went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience. Our guides (Shani and MJ) lent us gear when we weren’t properly prepared for the rain, our cook (Wolfgang) accommodated both a vegetarian and meat diet, and our porters were always so efficient and fast at getting our camp ready (including private toilet). Our team was constantly trying to adjust the itinerary to suit our needs and the weather. There was a pattern of rain in the afternoons so we’d set off early in the morning (e.g., start hiking at 7am) so that we could get to camp before noon to avoid getting wet. Our guides also made suggestions on changes to camping sites to help make the most of our weather conditions (e.g., we swapped Shira II for Moir Hut). Also, given that one of us had a prior knee injury, our guides suggested we summit quicker to give us more days to descend (ultimately didn’t work with the rain but was a very thoughtful suggestion given we were coping with the altitude well). Our crew was incredibly thoughtful and got us a bottle of champagne back in town to help us celebrate our honeymoon - they truly felt like family by the end of the 8 days.Right after the hike, we went on safari, visiting Tarangire, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater - and staying at Octagon Lodge, Embalakai tented lodge and Rhino lodge all of which were great. Again, we had our own private tour by chance. Popote recently invested in new safari pop-top jeeps, which are amazing - they are very comfortable, spacious, have a great pop-top which makes you feel so close to the animals and are great for getting perfect photos, and have well working coolers & USB chargers. Our guide/driver (Kanti) was so talented and it was clear animals were his passion. He was always able to spot animals far before we could, would get us out to excellent sights before other drivers could (we were the first to the leopard and saw it leap out of the tree before a dozen other cars showed up), and was the only driver that did not get stuck in the mud (and was gracious enough to spend one of his nights helping another driver get unstuck). We saw so many animals (including all of the Big 5) and part of the migration - all far beyond our expectations. We were hesitant about 4 days of being in a car on safari but there was so much to see and the car was so spacious that our worries were unwarranted.All in all, we recommend Popote and would pick them again in a heartbeat if we were to do it all again!

This company is the one you need to use if you are planning on hiking Kilimanjaro or if you are looking to go on a safari. They are the kindest, happiest group and they genuinely want you to achieve your dreams. We went on the five day Marangu route and it was way better than I expected. Florian really knows what hes doing, and so does the rest of the crew! The food was spectacular as well!

We have had the most amazing experience climbing Kilimanjaro with Popote. We reached the summit with Omari and Yusuf as guides and Jamal as an extra caretaker, and they were all incredible to us.Every day we have felt so well treated by the crew, the chef Remmy cooking three amazing meals per day and Jamal waking us up with tea by the sleeping bag. The entire crew is awesome and we have had so much fun while still feeling that they all are extremely professional.Their guidance according to pace, clothing and the everyday briefings made the goal much easier to achieve. All we needed to think of was to walk, which made the experience so great.I sincerely recommend this company to anyone who dreams of climbing Kilimanjaro.

We had such a blast with this company and the generosity of the owner who himself was a porter for two years had catered for everything; even when we had decided to cut our hike from seven to six he accommodated us by contacting our hotel and arranging this before we even arrived back to Moshi. Our two guides were also top notch we dubbed the Rasta brothers; between them having had over ten years experience climbing Kilimanjaro so knew each trail intimately and set a good pace (do not under estimate the slow pace as I can reassure you from feedback from other hikers; this was the climb of their lives!). Also commendation to all our porters, cook and waiter for the impressive effort they made no matter the altitude and how crummy we felt still prepared three square meals a day and were expert in assembling/disassembling tents and hauling this heavy gear from base-camp to base-camp.Overall for the satisfaction of not having to worry about anything I would give it five out of five stars; the summiting that alone is up to you but the guides were great encouragement with expert knowledge that put us aside from other groups. Highly recommend Jerry and Stanly, our two guides. We couldnt have asked for better guides.

Amazing adventure mostly due to the care and attention from Popote staff. From being met at the early hours at the airport to the guides and porters on the hike, to the Safari . Everything was wonderful. I am excited to bring my family back in a few years.

This trip was amazing.We organised this trip as a group of 6 for March 2020 but then Covid hit so we had to postpone.We then tried again for 2021 but again it could not happen. All the time Sabino was very understanding and flexible.Finally we made it in 2022 but by now only 2 of the original 6 were available. Sabino was happy to take just us two and also deducted the other 4 deposits which was really nice of him.We ended up joining another group of three people which made for a really nice trip.I cant fault anything, the organisation was impressive, the kit was good, the food was more than we could eat and amazing (not what I expected at all,) the weather was perfect and our group got on really well.Our guides and crew were all very friendly and encouraged us the whole way.This is a must do trek for anyone interested and Popote Africa is a fantastic way of doing it, I did feel we were better off than others on multiple occasions.Thank you Popote for an unforgettable experience.

We didnt expect to see so many and so close it was amazing.The car was very comfortable, as were the tents we slept in. The campsite allowed us to be as close as possible to the animals and to hear them at night. Finally, Alis meals were delicious.We had an unforgettable experience with the Popote Africa Adventures team, whether for the ascent of Kilimanjaro or the Safari. We recommend them 1000%, you can go with your eyes closed and your stay will be amazing!

We were on the Machame Route in July 21 and after some research we decided very quickly for Popote, as they made a very competent impression and we were very impressed by the story of the founder Sabino!Our very high expectations were more than met: we were accompanied by a 4-person guide team and several porters, cooks and others help. Everyone was exceptionally competent, knew exactly what to do and when. Above all, our chief guide Shani had an outstanding power of observation and was always ready with a good tip if it didnt go any further or if problems arose with the altitude.Everyone in the team reacted very professionally, supported us very well and were simply always there and helpful!“One Team, One Dream”, that was our motto and we owe it to Popote that we actually made it to the top. I am infinitely grateful for that!The equipment (tents, carrier bags, sleeping mats, sleeping bags) was also great.Not to mention the excellent food! Sometimes the porters came towards us with the finished food on the hiking route, so that we could strengthen ourselves at exactly the right time.
