The location of that place is just perfect for people that just arrived in town. Easy to go to the ferries, there is a mall opposite of the hotel. A huge local market is not far. Restaurant right next door.Rooms simple, but all in all a good experience.

One of the best budget friendly hotel in the heart of Dar Es Salaam.They have nice rooms equipped with Working Air conditioning, TVs, best WiFi, hot water.Also you can have early morning breakfast if youve flight or ferry to catch.

This is a cheap hotel that has AC, hot water and TV and this is why I rated this high. But dont expect something nice. The room smells bad (like humidity) and there is no natural light. The bed is not very good too...

Nice hotel for foreigners .. but the only problem, it doesnt have passenger lift. Take stairs only weather you are on 1st floor or fifth.😁

Excellent value for an affordable price. The room was quiet, comfortable and spacious, with AC and hot water. The wifi was fast and reliable, which is not so common in Tanzania (according to my experience so far). Everybody in the staff was super nice, especially Mohamed who was very helpful. I contacted him on WhatsApp to arrange a booking and ask a few questions. He replied quickly and efficiently.Also the location is very convenient and there are many options to eat around. For sure I’ll stay there again if I ever come back to Dar Es Salaam.

Central and nice peoples but not very clean

Sophia hotel - if you are looking for a comfortable place with everything (shops, restaurants, BRT bus, Kariakoo market) within easy walking distance, this is your place. The rooms come in different sizes and are simple but well appointed, well worth the money. I spent several weeks there, feeling very much at home. WiFi is consistently good, and the hotel is well run by the capable management. There is a limited free breakfast available in the lobby, a good time for chatting with other guests over unlimited coffee, tea, and toast.Thank you for the good time and I hope Ill make it back there one day when travelling is once again hassle free!

Its a lovely place to stay if you are on budget, bfast still has only bread as an option, and the lounge could use a bit of work to get rid of the mold smell.

Its a bit old. No maintenance at all. Beds are clean but the room itself not clean. Nice location. Walking distance to bus stop and zanzibar ferries. There are cool restaurants around the hotel also.

I stayed at Sophia Hotel for two weeks, and was very happy with the large room and small kitchen. The rooms are very clean and furniture had an interesting style. The staff is friendly and helpful. They offer laundry for free, while in other hotels laundry might cost a lot. The hotel has a small restaurant mainly for breakfast but also other food can be ordered, but for dinner it is better to go out as there are many good local food places nearby. The location of the Sophia Center was also practical, close to a city mall (2min walk) and close to the city center. Good value for the price 👌

Nice Descent Hotel. Room 201 I stayed is such a huge room. Bigger than King Bed!! Clean. Breakfast could be better. Will come again. Room has extra bed, sofa set of 3 & 1, medium size fridge. Outside the room you get cooker microwave big 12 seater table. Big L shape sofa of 6-7 person. Walking distance to so many restaurants. Value for money. One more thing might surprise I have stayed in so many hotels single room is the size of bathroom @ Sophia House.....

Very good service and location. The rooms are spacious. Ours was pretty damp and leaky though. It is an old building converted into a hotel. Breakfast is simple but very rich.

It is considered clean. Both rooms have a shared kitchen, lobby and bathroom. I think it is good for the price quality ratio.

The hotel is dirty, the rooms are damp and smell of mold. Otherwise, the price of $ 15 is good. There is no lift in the hotel and luggage has to be carried by hand to the second floor, where the reception is located. Rooms on floors 0 and 1 have no windows.
