The team is great, professional, efficient and great fun. The equipment is also good. We had a blast at different levels: as a complete beginner, a more advanced diver and a guy why hang up on the boat. Didi also has a great sense of humor and infectious laugh. The dive itself was very nice.

Took through Advanced Open Water Scuba diving courses. Excellent experience. Polar and Nadine as instructors along with the support and boat staff are great. Saw an octopus, barracuda, sting rays, etc. I went directly to Buccaneer from arriving in Zanzibar and within an hour of arriving I did the pool dives with Polar (plan thoroughly to make this possible though). The next day I started going on the dive trips. 2 dives per trip (day). They even made it possible for a night dive to work out which was special!

We did our dives with Buccaneer Diving in Paje in November 2021. Didi gave us all a thorough brief and training session before we got on board and looked after us perfectly throughout. We are a family of eight and had two fabulous dives and saw so much. There is some wonderful coral about 30 minutes from the beach with plenty of fish. We all felt very welcome, safe and secure. Great company with a professional team of people.

We dived with the Buccaneer Diving Center of Jambiani and it was fabulous because we were a small group therefore Nadine - the instructor - is 100% committed to us the divers. We had a great time! Thank you to the team which made our last diving in Zanzibar so special!

I went with Buccaneer Diving on an incredible experience! I’ve never dived before and wasn’t doing any Padi qualifications but was still able to get out in the water in a safe way! We did the discover diving course, we spent time in the pool going through all the safety measures and getting acquainted with the equipment and all the basics you’d need for the dive.The next day we went out for 2 dives, the whole time I felt very safe and the instructors regularly checked on us and kept us in the loop. The wildlife we saw was incredible and varied.I loved the whole experience, especially as I started so nervous and felt extremely reassured after the first dive that I could do everything I needed to do! We had good fun on the boat and it was a great way to have spent our afternoon.

We went to Mnemba with Amy and her divemaster Myriam from Buccaneer diving and it was so much fun!The trio was organised, and fun and we even made some new friends in the boat.The best was swimming with the dolphins and eating lunch on the sand island.Can’t wait to come back. See you guys soon!!

I did my PADI Open Water qualification with Buccanneer and it was truly incredible. It is clear that the instructors all know what theyre doing and are really passionate about diving. I did four open water dives as a part of my qualification and some dives in the pool beforehand. In the pool they taught me all the skills Id need before going out into the ocean which was key because I was a bit nervous about diving as an activity before joining the course.All those nerves were put to bed very quickly with the way the instructors handled themselves and they also made it really entertaining while doing so. I made some great friends on the dives and the whole experience was really fun.Ill definitely be coming back.

Went on 2 drift dives outside the reef, what an amazing experience! Fabulous marine life, including barracuda, lobster and so many other amazing sea creatures! I joined “Buccaneer Diving” on November 7th, 2021 for 2 afternoon dives at 2:30pm.We were 2 groups of divers on the boat.1 group of 4 experienced divers + dive master and1 group of 3 students doing the PADI certification + divemaster.After my group finished the second dive and was back on the boat (it was already getting dark and close to sunset) we couldn’t spot the second group with the inexperienced divers. At first we weren’t worried but as the minutes passed everyone on board got nervous. It turned out that the boat was running low on gasoline and there was no proper safety equipment (neither of the divemaster had a whistle, a surface marker buoy or a flashlight). It took us almost 1.5 hours to find the other group. When the students got on the boat they were crying heavily and shaking from the cold. On the way back to the dive shop in pitch black darkness the captain of the boat was screaming incredibly loud like. „UUUUUAAAHHRRR“….“UUUGGGAAAH“ which made me feel very uncomfortable. After that he started crying too. According to the divemaster he was just performing some sort of religious shamanism ritual to get rid of the evil spirits while he was steering the boat. We arrived at the dive shop around 7:45pm.At the dive shop I confronted the staff of Buccaneer Diving with what just happened. The atmosphere was very hostile. The divemaster of the other group even insulted and threatened me. „We did nothing wrong“, „It’s none of your business…you were not part of the group who was stuck in the water “ (Yeah that’s right but I was just very lucky)…“Get the fu** outta here“So I left, humiliated and without an apology, without a discount and the worst - without the commitment from Buccaneer Diving to work on their safety procedures especially on dives with inexperienced divers doing the PADI certification.What you should know before you go diving with Buccaneer Diving especially when you are new to diving:*Your divemaster doesn’t have a whistle*Your divemaster doesn’t have a SMB - surface marker buoy (This is absolute standard in all PADI dive shops…I have no idea how Buccaneer Diving received 5 PADI stars)*Your divemaster doesn’t have a flashlight although they go diving around sunset*The boat does not have a spare canister of gasoline and the fuel level is very low. According to the captain the fuel was only sufficient to go 20min straight from the dive shop to dive site but not enough to for driving along the coast looking for lost divers*The boat is not equipped with lights…neither position lights (green/red/white) nor a torch although they go diving around sunset*I think I don’t need to mention separately that there are no binoculars on the boat.However they are somehow certified as PADI 5 star dive shop and they charged me 135 USD for 2 dives. The money definitely does not go into safety equipment and you better don’t think about how they maintain the rest of the diving equipment.

We had a great diving experience with Buccaneer! My partner did his Open Water here and I did a small refresher and my Advanced at the same time and both trainings were very professional. Equipment is in good state, instructors are friendly and professional, with a special shout out to Polar! He made our dives feel safe and fun, taking great care of us while learning new skills and introducing us to the zanzibar marine wildlife. Thanks Polar for a great experience!The only little downside is that that they are quite pricey, BUT they are willing to negotiate and they gave us a little discount for additional recreational dive for my partner to enjoy as I did my deep water training.All in all a great experience and a firm recommendation!

We went into the shop to ask for the prices and tour options. The guy behind the desk told us we have to pay 230 USD per person for 2 dives, as we tought its very expensive we asked again and he repeated the same price very clearly and just said that diving in Zanzibar is expensive. We asked the guests outside, they told us their hotel organized it and that they only paid 130 USD, same price as on their website. It made us so angry that they tried to fool us like this that we didnt go diving there.

Very well organized diving center that lets you rent all equipments you need there.We started conversations via email. They were always very responsive in answering and sharing valuable information.The master diver that came with us was very well prepared and did a proper briefing of the dive before entering. We were a group of new divers so he made sure he was checking on us regularly under water.

My wife took a Padi diving course here and just didnt have anything but good things to say about them. Very friendly staff. She thoroughly enjoyed the entire process and cant stop talking about it even until now 😊

I went diving for two days with Buccaneer, one day trip and one whole-day excursion.The staff is nice, equipment and organisation ok. The dive shop rather uninviting.The underwater world was ok, but also pretty much damaged. Not world-class diving.The prices are pretty steep (USD 135 for two boat dives including full equipment), but unfortunately at Paje there is no alternative.I asked for a better price for the two days but there was absolutely no discussion for them. Also, after the dive, you were pretty much left alone. I could have walked out without having paid if I wanted. Also, no check of the brevet when signing up.All very African, which is very much OK, but not for this price.I would not dive with them again.

Just completed my Open Water PADI course with Buccaneer Diving in December 2020. The instructor, Didi was very professional, easy-going, and experienced. All the staff including Shafi and Haji in the shop and Wycliffe were easy to work with and made sure the experience was enjoyable with equipment and easy payment options.Didnt manage to say a final goodbye so if you see it, thanks for all the cool dives!

Quite expensive for two dives. Although the whole trip was done professionally, I must point that a gentlemen named Didi was completely unprofessional. When I tried to ask him questions, he seemed to have a fun of me and treated me like some kind of stupid person. I was not the only one who notices this type of behavior. That was really rude espesially that it was my first time and I was a little bit scared. The rest of members were really nice and polite.

Diving in Paje is diverse, stimulating and sublime. Always something new on every dive. Bucaneer is superbly run with experienced guides and instructors. Go with the flow!

Was a little nervous about the young, party vibe of the place but he and all the other instructors were 100% professional when it came down to getting in the water. Patient, calm and indulgent of my nerves, 10/10 would go back!

Top level Padi Dive center. Smiling and skilled staff and very new equipment. They have many fast boats for quick transfers. All instructors are very professional. Sure one of the best diving center in the Island. In a few minutes they are also at The Sands Beach Resort (wow...) in Dongwe where you can also enjoy a wide pool for training.

It is an incredible place to party on Wednesdays and Saturdays, good food and lovely waiters. If you want to book an activity, do it inside, not on the beach, because there are many scammers who say they belong to the company and they only want to steal the money giving you a bad service in return.

Way overpriced for the service you receive! $205 for 2 dives is way too much! After being given the equipment you had to carry it yourself everywhere and wash it yourself after the dive. When I asked for water I was given a communal cup that sat next to the huge water bottle. Overall a very disappointing experience for what you pay for. The dive itself was nice though.

It was my first dive after getting my PADI OW. They refused to give me the weight I asked for. Then, after pulling me down to the bottom too fast, ignored my struggle to stay down. Truly, my worst dive. The fish were cool.

The palce is fantastic. There are no so many people in first part of december and the place is as good as is hi season. Be sure to ask of Arnold hes a wery good instructor.

Great dive place. Towards the end of the lockdown, they reopened the dive center for me and made sure that the service was impeccable despite the difficulties post lockdown.

I recently did 2 dives with Buccaneer Divers in Zanzibar with a friend and a third person who we met that morning at the dive shop. We were doing 2 drift dives from a boat that was not a dive boat, just a local boat that our equipment went on. Our first dive was supposed to be a wall dive but our guide missed the wall. He also missed the fact that one of his clients was having trouble equalising on the descent which wasn’t surprising since he descended and disappeared from view. I was the one checking on her and making sure the 3 of us stayed together and in sight. We all descended together once it was safe to do so eventually finding our guide who must have realised he was alone.The ascent was no better. Our DM was several meters in front and above and as the only one with a computer and more than the air gauge on the regs, he didn’t seem to feel the need to get us all together so we could rise slowly for the safety stop as a group. Instead i was judging our ascent by bubble speed and counting in my head for 3 minutes. Not ideal at all.2 out of 3 of us may have been experienced divers but having not dived here before i expected more regardless of my level of experience.I did not feel the limited equipment and poor guide justified the price charged. I had expected to be doing at least 3 dives for what they were charging.Sadly not the best diving I have done.The fish life was lovely but even though our second dive was where seahorses were supposed to live, we saw none. No turtles, sharks or anything of any size although there were a few nudibranchs and who doesn’t love them?Although I didn’t have to use it, I was glad I had taken my own SMB because it could have easily been required.If you choose to dive with Buccaneer and I note many do, just know that standards are much higher elsewhere.Disappointing.

Very good school. The instructors are very friendly and lively, they make a good accompaniment during the dive explaining everything we see. A break is offered a meal, was a good portion and super tasty. Prices are not cheap but are up to standard and are quite acceptable for the quality of service. Recommended!

VERY GOOD FOR BEGINNERS AND SCHISSER;)My boyfriend and I wanted to try diving for the first time. Before we were only snorkeling, so we never had anything to do with the equipment. We did not take a certificate, only the trial course (free) as well as a pool course and 2 further dives in the sea.NADINE was very courteous from the start, explained everything calmly and, above all, responded to me whenever I was afraid or concerned. She didnt push us to anything and checked every minute (even underwater) to see if everything was ok with us. OMAR was also very friendly and calm.We would recommend Buccaneer Diving.

Great diving base. Friendly and helpful staff, cheerful divemasters. They can easily adapt the dive plan to customer preferences. They organize diving at Mnemba! I recommend 100% - the best diving base in the eastern part of Zanzibar.

Every day with the biggest smile.I did my Divemaster at Buccaneer Diving and had a lot of fun doing it, it was always very, very funny, whether on the boat or in the base. I felt very comfortable from the first moment. Great divesites, I honestly didnt expect such a beautiful, colorful coral garden. They took us to the middle of the sea with waves of 6 meters. Obviously we did not manage to dive and even the experienced ones bought for 2 hours.
