I liked staying at Makofi. The only problem was that it was really hot and especially that the mosquito nets had holes. We participated at the BBQ night which was really nice! The breakfast wasn’t not so much my thing because I don’t like fat, sweet stuff like donuts and so on.

Most aesthetically beautiful place Ive ever stayed. Good breakfast, crowd, location. Gets hot at night tho. And theres a maasai standing watch each night during write l quiet time from 22:30 to 8:00 silencing rowdy guests with a shushing finger and a spear.

Just a beautiful place to spend a vacation and/or work from there. Been there for two weeks this November and I loved it. People are nice and helpful, the place is sparkling clean, the food is great, beach is close, WiFi is stable. Will definitely visit again!

Lovely backpackers! I stayed in a very comfortable private room. Everything is clean and adequate. Only criticism: 1. The servers at breakfast had an attitude and 2. Some of the guys working there hook up with visitors in public areas after “quiet time” (22:30).

Such a cute little guesthouse! Fan-friggin-tastic breakfast! Best guesthouse breakfast I had in Zanzibar! The BBQ they have every few days was delicious as well with a fun little fire show! Would and will definitely stay there again!

Servers are all nice and cool.Basic breakfast with seasonal fruits.Youll be needing an insect repellent if you wanna hangout outside.5min walk to the beach. Kindof dark at night (needs phone light or actual light).

It is located near Nungui Beach. All staffs are kind. Facilities are normal. Price for accommodation is reasonable. They run various tour programs such as dolphins tour, scuba diving, snorkeling, and fishing. Also, They run buffet for dinner, but I don’t recommend.

Clean rooms, friendly staff, very good food, we had an open buffet for sea food night with a fire show and it was the best ever.. highly recommended!

Definitely the best accommodation we had in Zanzibar. Its nice, clean and stylish with attention to detail, very close to the beach. The staff is exceptionally nice and friendly. The food is tasty and the prices are fair. And the best of all: it has a really great, very relaxed, Caribbean like atmosphere. I cant recommend it highly enough!

Cool vibes, nice place, cool decor. Place was clean, showers hot and powerful, communal areas clean. Also looked like the photos. They had small areas to lock your valuables away. The BBQ looked amazing.Downsides - wifi didnt reach to girls dorm, staff redused to provide password to other networks that were available here. Some of the staff could have been nicer/more attentive especially with dietary change request. Some cosmetic items went missing from my shared room however I dont blame the hostel as no other reviews have mentioned things going missing so I assume it was a fellow traveller. Sad.

Awesome Guest House! We really felt welcomed here, the staff was very kind and friendly. The whole atmosphere there is absolutely chill and the breakfast amazing! Definitely recommend this place, also the prices are very fair for what you get.

Location is really good, close to the beach and other restaurants. Our room was small but clean and comfortable. Usually they don’t clean it everyday but they ask you if you want to have it cleaned every couple of days. Shared bathrooms are pretty clean too.We liked the breakfast and the variety of options. We really enjoyed the BBQ nights they organize every 2/3 days, food was delicious!Honestly I wasn’t that impressed by the staff, apart from the co-owner who was very friendly and helpful.Loved the swings, super comfy!The only thing we didn’t like was the fact that around 22:00-22:30 you are asked to lower the tone of voice because ‘people are sleeping and checking out tomorrow’. It happened twice and I think it goes totally against the image and reputation this place wants to have. It’s a multicultural place, full of young people so this was quite disappointing.Despite of this, great overall experience and value for money!

Sincerely great food and vibes! Even if you’re not staying here highly recommended to stop by and enjoy the atmosphere and meet some backpackers. A lot of love goes into every dish.

The place with its charm and and an excellent ambience. The rooms are simple but still nice for few nights. I loved the bar space with the swings. And the barbecue each two nights with the fire show. I recommend this place and hope will be back one day!

Best stay in Zanzibar! We loved the relaxed atmosphere and vibe. Staff was exceptional and rooms and shared bathrooms were clean. Just need an extra bench in the room. Lunch served daily and the dish we had was delicious.

The best place to stay in Nungwi! Place is new, clean, safe and very cozy. Staff is very friendly and helpful, breakfast is fresh and delicious and the beach is so close. Perfect place to meet new people or just enjoy Zanzibar vibe with a light music in front of your room. Definitely would recommend this place!

This cute beach bungalow has only been open 2 months, yet theyre fully booked. We only booked one night, then wanted a second night, but sold out. The staff is so nice, they let us rent a tent for cheap and included breakfast still. Near all, but much cheaper than other places that are on the beach. But were close enough.

A great, inexpensive place for couples or groups to stay. They have dorm rooms as well as private rooms. The staff are very relaxed. Breakfast is included. The only negative was there was construction occuring at the time of our stay however it looked to be bear completion. It is about a 1-2 minute walk from the beach. Great for anyone travellimg on a budget!

Fantastic place to stay in Nungwi. Newly opened I stayed in a private room with shared bathroom. It was basic but perfect. All you need for a few days at the beach.Excellent breakfast and coffee. The shared breakfast table allows you to meet other travellers and share travel tips and conversation. Really wonderful people.It is a party town so bring earplugs or get ready to dance.

Great place! Fantastically well thought out in terms of layout and decor, friendly staff, clean rooms, good food, great music, warm showers, amazing location - its very difficult to find a fault here. If I come back to Zanzibar I will definitely be using Makofi Guest House as my base again! 5 stars!

Makofi – a really awesome b&b in Nungwi. Awesome reception staff and decent breakfast. Location is superb. They organise bbq nights a few times a week and the food is delicious. The only downsides I can think of are the incredibly laggy wifi and absence of aircon in the dorm.

Clean hostel, excellent breakfast and location to the beach, shops and restaurants. Good overall value. Keep in mind this is a hostel, so bring your own beach towels, toiletries, earplugs, etc. It is a no-frills environment and can get noisy, depending on your neighbors. Great place to stay if youre on a budget, or like a beachy vibe.

Perfect place if you want to relax and mingle with other cultures. Staff is extremely friendly, really hard not to feel comfortable! Love it and would come back again definitely Dont miss it!

He canceled one day before we check in, because he wanted us to pay a 30% deposit and he requested that 2 days before our check in . We couldnt connect to wifi in Tanzania at that moment , they simply canceled without using their brain. I can understand than they want to cover themself from fake reservation, but we are coming for 2 nights only , so it is a low risk for them. Me and my gf were really disgusted by their behaviour. It was high season and it was impossible to find another location. Brainless people. They are only interested in money, and it seems it is a normal behaviour on the island ( some Italian mafia as well as we noticed, so we suspect they own this hostel as well).

I have spent 7 days in this particular hotel. The location is very good, 2 minutes from the beach and the bars and restaurants. The vibe is a little posh hippie, but in a very positive way - good vibes, nice people, lovely employees, you can really relax.
