The restaurant was a “hidden gem”. Very good and well prepared fresh food. Service was impeccable. The owner explained the dishes in detail.Walk along the beach and you’ll see the sign for it.They also have a service where they will charge your card and give you the cash, acting as an atm since there are no close ones near. Very convenient.

We had dinner at Mohammeds 4 times during the whole of our stay, and every time was exceptional. Its a local family run restaurant, and they cook each meal from scratch. Highly recommend both the food and the people.

The place is perfect to rest and relax, is located un amazing beach, un first line of the sand with deck chair swing.20 seconds walking is a great diving club(Blue Wave Diving) and the best in the place is the food, the owner is a great cooker...all is nice

Lovely place to stay, either you walk by for a drink or good food. Has a professional diving school right next door. A top spor for divers! Friendly, clean and cosy. ;-) Looking forward to go back there!!!!

The best place on Zanzibar. Mohammed is a great cook and a very nice person. The way he makes the sauce for the rice and cooks fish and seafood is incredible. Wherever you eat on this island, you will end up coming back to Mohammed’s again and again and enjoying it every time. Highly recommended, still remembered after a few months :)

Honestly the best food Ive had in Zanzibar. The prawns are unreal. Seriously.

Very nice place to sit and rest, and have your meal. Clean restaurant with a friendly staff. CHicken was delicious, prawns a bit overcooked, Kilimangaro Bear cold. Noting elase metters when it is 30 degrees C with 11 UV.

We had Fish Masala (spicy!) and Fish Coconuts. Both were delicious and fair-priced (roughly 20000 to 25000 ths per main course).Although everything is obviously homemade with love (no commercial condiments or anything) , the service was quite fast.The only downside is that payment with credit card is only available from 50 usd, so go there with cash.

I spent there 2 nights and one night there was no running water which is absolutely unacceptable (thats one star down) and the other because of the price which was 50 dollars for the bungalow for 2 people. One person price was 30 dollars which in my opinion is fair for a private room but for 25 to share the room is just too expensive. Stuff was really nice tho so if it was possible i would give 3.5 star.

Walked down to the restaurant from one of the nearby resorts. I can tell you, the food and service was beyond my imagination. The food was really good and service was brilliant. I ordered the local fish dish and I was impressed. I would definitely go again! 5/5.

Very tasty traditional African and sea food. The staff was really friendly and helps you with choosing the right food and drinks for yourself. The restaurant is located directly at the beach, which is beautiful. We would definitely recommend it if you stay nearby to experience local food culture. But make sure to bring some time or pre-order your food in the afternoon since everything is prepared very fresh.

Amazing local food choice, we were impressed by the elaboration, taste and low price of every food option. We arrived at night and the whole family owners were working at the restaurant.We tried different places nearby but we must say this place had the most delicious fish and chicken. Congrats!

It’s a must-go dinner place if you’re around the area. The food is fantastic and Mohammed and his family are great hosts. We showed up pretty late by foot from our nearby resort and the place was already closing down but Mohammed fired up his kitchen only for us and served a killer feast. He even drove us back as it was pitch dark by the time we finished. The place is super casual, small and relaxed, open air right by the beach. Warmly recommended.

If you do visit this place just try all the different types of fish curry he is serving as they r delicious. Whats so ever please dont order the prawns as it is not fresh.

We had some dinner at Mohammeds Restaurant and were really satisfied with the food and the friendly staff! We tried the grilled octopus and the vegetarian pizza and were really surprised about the good quality and taste of the food, although the restaurant is nondescript! So if you are around here, it is worth a try!Also we get to know the chef and he is a really friendly guy! If you stay at Villa Tulia, it is possible to hire him as your private chef on a daily basis!

I stayed for 9 days in Matemwe (at Villa Tulia, which was beautiful). The owner recommended Mohammeds restaurant for our first lunch... and we ended up going every day! His seafood is really good and fresh, perfectly grilled, and his sauces and marinades are simply amazing! We tried other places on the Island (Stone Town, Nungwi etc.) or in Matemwe but Mohammeds restaurant was simply the best we found.On top of the great food, he is very friendly and nice. We were very touched by the nice meal, cake, table and flower decor he made for the birthday on our last day! His children are super cute too.

Food is very nice, as usual chef cooks one dish at the time, so you must go at least an hour early. As most beach restaurants, theres no Ice, No aircon and no sugar free drinks.

This is the best place to eat on the beach. Slow like everyone else, but a little less slow. Prices are good for Matemwe and the food is simply amazing. We ate hear a number of times, and were turned away once because the whole place was booked out. A favourite of everyones.

Great hotel! Right on the beach! Great food, bar and service! M9hammed himself comes by daily to great guests and see if they need anything. Internet isnt great by western standards but was much, much better than most other places we stayed. Wont go back to Zanzibar/Tanzania with a trip back to Mohammeds!

This is the best place in Kigomane. Mohammed and his family are very nice hosts. The rooms are clean and quiet. The food is super excellent and very very delicious. We missed nothing and enjoyed a great service all around.We did a great village tour as well as a sea wheat tour with a local guide - ask Mohammed, he will organize for you. Finally we did a sailing tour along the beach in the afternoon wir one of the traditional boats.So if you want to see the traditional Zanzibar this is your place.We enjoyed our stay very much and would leave another “thank you very much”.k

Restaurant is at the beach on the side of a diving shop. Food and service were ok, nothing really to take great notice. I preferred the local restaurants few minutes walk to the south.

Im not i picky guy when it comes to hotels but the rooms were not very good its says that they have ac but dont not much to do in matamwe it was pricey for what you get but Mohammed and his family where really friendly. I would say people should go to kendwa nicer beach and a lot more to do.

We werent staying there but we ate there one evening. Excellent hospitality and really delicious local cuisine. The Matemwe coastline is not distinguished by a great variety of food. We went here a couple of times. They took octopuses, squid, fish. Prices and portion sizes are average, food quality is also average, but everything is edible and even tasty. Wait an hour. what they honestly say in advance.

Very tasty, inexpensive, but wait a long time. We were here three times and waited for about an hour to order. The atmosphere here is pleasant, so the expectation was brightened up with a portion of insanely delicious juice.

Beautiful large white sand beach. Unfortunately when I was there (November 2018) there was a lot of algae on the beach and in the water. Very very quiet place. My negative review of Mohammeds Bungalows was cut off. I repeat: the description of the rooms on Mohammeds site is totally wrong.

Food poor in quantity and mediocre in flavor. The staff do not speak, express themselves and do not smile, something that goes beyond the language. A smile costs nothing.

Excellent delicious food which is a miracle in Zanzibar to find. It is cooked only in the evening around 18.00, we tried almost everything, I give 5 points
