Pros:Awesome Atmosphere and Very Quite place to Chill. Food for the Connoisseur and Awesome sea views over the OceanCons:Although food was good it was not enough, we left not feeling as we had eaten enough almost every time.Asking for anything extra like a Slice of Bread seem to be problematic.Very Expensive for what you get.Wifi only available in the Dining area.Music were almost non existent so the atmosphere was very bleak.

Excellent beautifully designed spot. Very friendly and secure. Built with minimal environmental impact. You can see endangered red colobus monkeys from your room and elephant shrews! Great food. Excellent dive centre and access to unvisited sites.

Disappointed. There was a WiFi outage the moment we came. The employees were not all friendly and they were really disorganized. When the WiFi finally started to work the only connectivity was at the main dining area as opposed to at the pool or lounge area. The villa doors lock but there is a path connecting to the open side so somebody can just walk around the door like I did when I forgot my key. There was only one measly sheet on my bed which was about 3 feet wide, with a nonresponsive AC unit and a fan blasting right at me and making strange noises. The mosquito net had huge holes in it and I found all manner of bugs inside and outside the net: crickets, cockroaches, large ants, mosquitoes, spiders, and others. The bathroom was more of the same. When I came I saw 12+ giant ants all over the toilet. In addition the shower had no water pressure and the whole nozzle contraption is just in the corner of the bathroom with no walls or even a depression to keep the water in. The floors were all semi-non-porous cement (ewwww) and if you weren’t careful the water would run DOWN THE SLOPED FLOOR INTO THE MAIN ROOM!!! So I had to huddle against the wall while taking a shower next to all the holes in which all manner of bugs resided. The food was disappointing, not to mention overpriced and disorganized. One day we had menus, the next day it was a small buffet, etc. the juice... well, the juice was like 95% added water with 5% juice. The flavors were passion fruit and pineapple which are already kind of tart and the water brought out the tartness. The paths to the villas make it easy to get lost and the stairs down to the ocean lead to pretty much on top of a bunch of tide pools and half the staircase is submerged at high tide making lounging and swimming near impossible. Disappointed and would never want to go back despite only being there for 2 days.

Highlights: nice manager (Martin) & bar/restaurant staff, decent food and drinks & a clean (albeit cold!) pool.Lowlights: DIRTY, dusty and horrendously unclean & uncomfortable rooms! Inadequate a/c and lumpy/uncomfortable beds. Bathrooms are gross! LOTS of insects (clearly no effort being made at pest control!) and biting mosquitoes! The result: no sleep & cranky kids!

Had a magical experience here in Sept of 2014. The villas are absolutely beautiful with amazing ocean views. The onsite dive center made diving very easy to arrange with very professional and friendly dive masters and Nick, the instructor. The wait staff at Unguja were great and, with the very friendly and attentive owners made us feel right at home. We were very sorry to leave and hope to return some day.

We wanted a villa with a bathroom, but we were settled with an ocean view. And they did not lose. Every evening, we watched the sunsets in front of us. The villa exceeded all my expectations (tired of the hotels anthills). The ebb and flow of our coastline is the best. We rode to the south of the island, there are 3-5 km of low tide, and then after 15-00 the water arrives so that right from the descent along the stairs, you can immediately swim. From 11-00 to 15-00 it was low tide and we went along the shore to the village, there we went to cafes and dined in an Italian restaurant (the farthest along the shore, with the stairs up). The restaurant gives a piece of Europe, where we rested on sun loungers, took a shower and dined. WI-FI only by the pool, in the rooms it is not and in this we saw a plus. After and before dinner, everyone sat by the pool with gadgets and you could see all your neighbors and get to know each other. Then they sat in companies. A lot of animals live on the territory of the hotel, monkeys, hounds, lizards and Peters proboscis dog (a very rare mammal on the planet). Be sure to take a flashlight with you, at night it is dark to go to the hut, there are kerosene lamps along the paths (betrays relaxation) but it is still dark to go. There is no refrigerator in the room, no TV either. Air conditioning only in Baobab rooms. There is a fan with 5 speeds. We got used to it quickly and we dont need anything else. If you want to see real Africa with jungle and sounds of nature, you should go there. The staff are kind and welcoming. I put water in the fridge of the bar before the trip for a couple of hours, asked for $ for rent, after a small scandal, everyone calmed down. So ask the owner or bartenders in advance. Its like in Egypt, got on a camel for free, and get off .. pay. Be sure to take food breakfast - dinner, and go to the village for lunch, there is a huge variety of dishes, for every wallet. One of my best vacations. Thanks to this worldwide hysteria, otherwise I would not have got there. All Jumbo and Hakuna)))

End of the world, beautiful quiet area with great respect for nature, eating here in the restaurant is a real pleasure, where you can choose from European cuisine or local. The lodges are also great, beautifully designed, open plan, great ocean views with Dar es Salaam very far away.

Didnt like the prices on the menu. I did not like the attitude of the staff - they confused the orders, they did not bring everything that they asked for. On the day of departure, they tried to sell free jam for $ 10.
