Please dont visit this place if you are a black African that cant speak Swahili, or the waiters will mock you! At least that was my experience here tonight. The place is lovely, with a good vibe and live band. However, the wait staff need better customer service training.
A pleasant experience. Nice to walk along the side of the ocean and experience the buzz of people at the local restaurants. Not really a Sandy beach type of place but good views. You can also get a short boat ride around the bay or a long boat ride to the island. My video on this is coming soon to You Tube.See the Charcmode You Tube channel for more.
Food is good and drinks also have many options to choose from. The shore is not as clean as it used to be with lots of plastic bottles n stuff.
Atmosphere was good, it was happening, clean. The place is really cool for drinks but the food, not so much. We went for dinner, we had 2 appetizers that were ok, for mains we had whole grilled fish and baby octopus. It was non edible, just a mash of ingredients. Wouldnt recommend going hungry
Restaurant with great views and ambienceHas some good variety of seafood on the menu with local fresh produce! The calamari rings are definately to be tried, cooked to perfection, amazingly tender and tastyHas a vegetarian menu! Serves pizza! And offers desserts as well.Sunsets are the best times, though can be more crowded at that time and service tends to get slower, but the hot freshly cooked food is Much appreciated.Ask to be served by Eric, he is super efficient.
Amazing view and food but terrible customer services. We had asked 3 different people to come and listen to us But no one showed up and finally this one guy comes ain a rush and when we tried to inquire about certain options of the menu, he dared to say this is why people are not coming to your table ..and kept on saying I am needed at the other tables, I got so confused about his attitude, I think he assumed we were there just to sit ?? And the fact that he said do you know why people are not coming to your table to serve you?? came out so wrong..
This restaurant has one of the best view in Dar es Salaam. The food is good but expensive. Less vegetarian options are available though. Good for non vegetarians especially for the sea food. Looks lovely at in the evening after all the candles are lit. You also get to see the sunset if go at the right time.
Everything is great about The WaterFront Restaurant except for one small but concerning thing......the crows. They are small, smart, and opportunistic....they will attempt to take your food when you are not looking.
The food is Ok, the staff is friendly, the is beer cold and the view is nice. Then why 3 stars only? Its so @^#! noisy there! The music is soo loud and when you have bad luck even more loud music is comming from the Terrace restaurant upstairs, when there is a wedding party there. But many people seem not to bother. So dont give too much weight to my three stars only.
This place is a joke , tasteless overpriced every day foods. Yet want to be seen as a very luxury restaurant, if you want to be seen as luxury change your cheap roofing first, dont use roofings for slums
Food:Ordered jumbo prawns and king prawns. Only 3 jumbo prawns came and were old & tasteless. King prawns were better but not something to order again. My son ordered spare ribs. It seemed like they brought him a plate of leftovers. Bones without meat. Shame.Service:The waiter served us very well.Value for price:Over priced. I thought we’d get something spectacular for the amount charged.Environmental:Nice.
Coming to this place since childhood, having the best pizzas since then. The place has improved, and having alot of customers. The menu has improved. Good customer service.
I was greeted by a group of not-so-warm hostesses when I asked for a table by the water. I ended up sitting a table away and still enjoyed my delightful seafood dish for one. The Chardonnay was cold and crisp and paired quite well with the calamari and prawns. My server and manager were quite the contrary of the hostesses and I enjoyed their service. The ambiance is great, beautiful sunset, and live music as the dark of the evening greets you.
Great ambiance, tables were not clean when we ate there. Service was good.
Very nice restaurant and very nice waiter…best waiter in Daresalaam is Faisal Haroub at waterfront restaurant in slipway…love you guys 🇹🇿❤️❤️❤️
The location is fantastic especially if you want to watch the sunset 🌇. The food menu has a wide range of meal selections from seafood, fish, meat etc. I am yet to try their pizza 🍕 so I hope they are as tasty as they seem. The drinks menu is good although I would like to see more wines on the wine list. Live band is always a good vibe too - totally recommend this place 👌🏽
I enjoyed my time here with friends. Good friends, great staff and customer service. Will be back next time Im back to Tanzania
Nice view from the restaurant. Expensive on the other end i would say if you have a date then 😉 must come here
Chic restaurant at the Slipway. Amazing sea food and good variety. Lovely view of the sunset.
This restaurant is located in a very beautiful place. Its right in the seafront of the Msasani Bay. Views of the sunset are stunning. Unfortunately I ordered a prawns dish and they were not fresh. I told the waiter and the offered to change it but I did not feel like ordering something else and they did not charge me. Anyway, service was good and the over all experience was good appart from the non fresh prawns. I will still give them a 4 star rating as the was they felt with it was good and the rest of the experience was great.
The place is amazing. They serve regional and international dishes. You can eat lobster here or try local beef broth with chapatti. All tables are protected from the sun and the benches are very comfortable and equiped with pillows. I love their tuna steak. Its so big and perfectly prepared. The staff is always nice and very friendly.
Amazing food... And all nights I have gone there, there was a live band giving beautiful music ❤️
Location and View 5 starService is 2 slow, which would not suggest if you have loans for the rest of your day/evening ( they forgot to place our order and we waste 40minutes waiting for pizza in free afternoon )Check out is 2 star due to manager refused to give a print out or write of TRA receipt...
I would give The Waterfront a better review if not for two flaws. One, they make you play the seat lottery where a limited number of comfy bench style seats situated perfectly for a view and better enjoyment, are usually taken, forcing you to choose between uncomfortable bar stool seats and if youre lucky, patio furniture style chairs.Im amazed management doesnt see the problem here, after watching countless groups desperately trying to land good seating then settling for a bar stool. The 2nd flaw is the crowd. The Waterfront invites the tackiest bands in to play 3rd rate renditions of Elvis Presley type songs that attract, well, people who like to listen to 3rd rate renditions of Elvis Presley style songs. You wont have much chace of seeing beautiful people at The Waterfront, management chases them away good and proper.Outside of that, the food is good, service is good, and this restaurant could be great if its management made some simple, easy fixes.
Beautiful place to be, you looking for an escape route .....you on the right place
The ambiance is great; one of the best places to enjoy a meal as u enjoy the African sunset as God intended at creation. I sampled a tender goat meat dish, served with deep fried & dried bananas with vegetable salad. I liked everything except the salad (served without any dressing). Price is comparable to other restaurants of same calibre in Dar. Customer service was average. During the day/evening u may have to contend with some Indian House crows anxious to grab a piece of ur meal. Seems like a very popular place, patronized by locals & foreigners. It will be great to designate a specific area for smokers. Overall, a great place
Taste was over rated and expensive.small quantities against high price. The good thing is the sea view
This place should be a 6 to 7 star ⭐⭐ restaurant!Loved it here ❤️
Beautiful location but the staff is way to full of themselves.- that spoils the experience. I really do not understand what is going on here. Nobody seems to genuinely give or enjoy customer service here. Also when staff are that much louder then their guests...its very unprofessional. Much improvement needed.
Good food, good view and good music.
Pricy but taste is worth every peny 😍😍😍
Great food.....even greater view
Beautiful view of the Indian Ocean. Small portions for the price. Based on multiple visits: drinks - juice is fresh, beer was chilled but not ice cold. Food - prawns were delicious and by far my favorite. Fish and chips were dry. Pizza is good. Gets pretty busy at night and on weekends.
Sunset happy hour!Lovely spot to watch the sunset feeling the sand between your toes. Happy hour was from 5pm-7pm with all cocktails. Not the biggest cocktail selection but great tasting!
Have been here for lunch and dinner, both excellent.Had octopus both times and it was superb.Large menu, with many interesting dishes.Would recommend and go again.Bring bug spray at night (outdoors beside the bay).
Great spot for sundowners as its right by the river and they have a good selection of drinks 🍸🍹🍷. The best thing about Waterfront however is their food. I have eaten here on several occasions and Im always super satisfied with whatever I eat. You cant go wrong with the pizzas (try the seafood pizza) or prawns. Delicious! The service is also fine and always a good atmosphere
Seafood and salad was hot and delicious did not wait too long but we had to pay for salad but it was not mentioned on the menu. This place has best spot to view sunset with nice sea breeze of Indian Ocean. Price are bit fair but it’s worth but chips mayai is too expensive.
This place is nearly prefect... The view and atmosphere is amazing... Sitting on the patio, drinking ice cold coke out of a glass bottle looking out over the bay as the sun goes down... Simply amazing... The food was great but I think out of date lamb stew with sour cottage cheese would taste good with that view
Good ambience. Good service. Good food. Great waterfront view. Nice outdoors African setting. Responsive and helpful staff. The crowd starts growing towards the evening. The place draws in tourist and expat crowd. Nice music.
Awesome taste of pizza 🍕
Great view of the Indian Ocean from the restaurant/bar. Great menu though they can add more variety plus cocktails. The service is good, happy hour should last longer 😅 Recommended for dates or a night out with friends.
Great food. Great views. Friendly staff. Beer is always cold. A little bit pricey but well worth it. Try the seafood you wont be disappointed. Very busy Friday through Sunday. They have a bar section where you can grab a drink without ordering food
Brilliant restaurant in a fantastic location. The view and food were equally great. I happen to be there while the staff were gathered around clapping, perhaps celebrating the generous tips received from happy customers?
No TRA receipt available....otherwise fine
Great food and nice waiters
The location and ambience is the best you can get in Dar.The service can be a lot better though - had to flag down a waiter repeatedly just to get served. That too on a late Sunday evening - not the busiest of times. But surely not to be missed - just for the location and views across the bay.
