Wonderful boutique style hotel. Stopped over before continuing my journey. Friendly, helpful and a delicious breakfast. The room was everything you could wish for after a long flight. Just wish I could have stayed a little longer!

Nice hotel with refreshing pool in Daresalam/Masaki. Perfect location in a quiet surrounding, rooms are great with big bathrooms and big beds. At the second floor is a romantic restaurant with delicious meals like Lobster Thermidor. Good selection of wine, not cheap but good.

Best hotel in Dar, if not the world. So quiet and calm. Swimming pool is cool because of the overhanging tree and salted instead Id chlorinated, meaning you can open your eyes underwater and it doesnt hurt. The fresh seafood is so good for you and vegetables cooked to perfection (crunchy). When people heard I was staying here, they asked if I had tried the lobster. I didnt this time, but apparently this place is famous for its lobster. This is my hotel of choice from now on.

Alexanders is like coming home. Gordon manages to create a very welcoming atmosphere. The pool is great and very private, the hotel very quiet and the food amazing. I actually came the first time because I saw pictures of the wine cellar but fell in love and came back a few times.

Wonderful seafood platter at Alexanders last night. Good was plentiful and delicious...and the wind superb. Highly recommended.

A wonderful hotel, especially if you’re stumbling off the plane in Dar es Salaam, jet lagged, after a long flight. Gordon is a welcoming host, making everything easy and comfortable for his guests, and we only wish we could have stayed longer. We will certainly be back the next time we travel to Tanzania.

*Restaurant only. I hadnt eaten at Alexanders in 10 years, and was looking forward to it. The seafood platter my colleagues ate looked superb, especially the lobster. However my own grilled tuna was overcooked (waiter didnt understand what seared meant, explained it in Swahili and the dish still came thoroughly cooked through). Also, I recall having a most excellent Dawa drink here back in the day...today they were out of Konyagi, so no luck for the spirit of the nation. Finally, the lighting was pretty harsh with the fluorescent bulbs, and the first two wines we ordered were not available. Left me feeling like I could wait another 10 years before coming back.

It would be a 4 star but Ill give it a 3 as there is an extra 10% charge added on your bill of you go there in a group of 8 or more people... Not really good. So be aware. Food and environment are good.

Never stayed here, but came for a romantic dinner with the lady and it did not disappoint. Quiet and cozy ambiance with friendly staff and tasty food. Definetly on the pricey side.

Gordon is the boss of seafood! He masters his subject. Its good, its fresh, the top, the top, the top!Eating or having a drink under the roofs, in peace in Dar es Salaam, its royal. The staff are lovely, the chef is handsome 😁 The house built by Gordon looks old but is very pleasant. The adjoining bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious, the very pretty 8-shaped swimming pool with a micro-island (a weaver birds nest (is that the correct spelling ??) on the palm tree)We liked it.
